Just thought I'd better kick a new one off...
Another day, another tearful outburst at work! It's getting very embarrassing Is it just me who feels like crying at the drop of a hat? Maybe it's lack of sleep, just not dealing very well with things that would not normally bother me, then something really small sets me off. cried in the toilets for 20 minutes today! Can't even explain why. Is this normal still at this stage?

derlor · 27/03/2007 14:43

thanks holly LOL will certainly do that!!
see ya.

marylou23 · 27/03/2007 14:43

Blimey, I spend the morning at a nice NCT class talking about pelvic floors and conserving our energy, and you guys are on rampant rabbits IN THE MORNING!!.
(So, good are they? Only wondering... Maybe I'll just add one to my shopping list )
Can't stay long - haven't had lunch yet (NCT was LONG. And unlike all others present, I wasn't organised enough to turn up with snack bars etc. Hopefully motherhood will turn me into a more organised person who remembers to take nappies/bottles out with her, although I doubt it... ). So anyway, am now ravenous.
See you later!
ps, class was fine. Nice. Nothing earth shattering info-wise but a perfectly nice way to spend three hours... Funnily enough no one used the word twunt once

sputnik · 27/03/2007 15:26

Lovely H&A, well done for finding the sling link, I wanted one too and was thinking they're bloody expensive for a bit of cloth you could probably make yourself (or get MIL with sewing machine to make, hey, she has to be useful for something).
You may try and pass yourself off as a lentil weaving earth mother but from now on we'll all know you know you secretly have a rampant rabbit in the closet somewhere .

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 27/03/2007 15:48

Can I be a saucy minx and a lentil weaver?!

Glad you enjoyed NCT marylou, bet there were loads of lentil weavers there! I kinda wish I'd have gone first time round, I know people who went and made some really good friends.

justbeme · 27/03/2007 16:35

Wow what a day you lot have had!!
Rabbits, Refreshers, drifters, lindt, its taken me ages to catch up!!
I came home from work and fell asleep for 1 lovely hour!! Bliss (got to make the most of..)
Where are you going to buy your rings from Holly? (sound like another sex aid!!)

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 27/03/2007 16:54

Girlies, I'm really scared!! There are babies galore on the April thread! 4 born today! Only a couple of months til we start popping! Yikes!

Justbeme you can buy the rings from ebay here .

derlor · 27/03/2007 17:02

holly i was noseying about in the april thread earlier today - some poor woman delivered her baby in the CAR!!!!!!!
that is actually my biggest fear - we live 1/2 hour from hospital (assuming it's NOT rush hour) and my 1st labour was 4.5 hours 2nd was 2.5 so i work out this one will all be over in that crucial 1/2 hour!!!!
have been keeping this fear to myself as i am terrified actually.
have also heard that 3rd labours can be jinxed and last hours and cause mega problems - either way i loose!!!!
why oh why oh why did i need to have 3 children??????

doggus · 27/03/2007 17:46

Derlor - my dh is terrified I am going to deliver in the car, only because of the mess (with my OCD I would probably make him sell the car!).

You have all had such a nice day here, with, ahem, wide-ranging conversation . Foxy, you made me laugh with your loose connection (what's the definition of frustration?). I think you have to upgrade.

I am ill AGAIN. I can't believe it - is it normal to be constantly virus-ridden through pg? I keep passing it on to dh, we are like bears with sore heads.

Chili and chips, God daisy, that sounds lip smackingly lovely. As a former northerner I am used to chips and gravy, or even chips, cheese and gravy, but they don't do any of that down here.

bumperlicious · 27/03/2007 18:02

Hi all

Nannyjo, sorry to hear about the cholestasis. I don't know anything about it, but it doesn't sound fun. Look after yourself.

It's so nice that we can have varied conversations on here, from Lindt bunnies to vibrating bunnies. Actually, I'm less of a fan of the bunny and more of a fan of this . In fact I wore my last one out so had to replace it (well I have had it since uni!) It's fab fun for solitary or shared pleasue - plus I'm just so damn impatient! Ok, TMI from me there too... Oh, what do I care, I used to be an Ann Summers rep! (that was a short lived job!).

Re: the sleeping, I have tried pillows between my knees, under my bump, against my back. Not a lot of help. I am waking up in agony from my upper back at the moment, but bizarrely it goes after I've been up half an hour or so - any possible explanation or any other ideas. My problem at the moment is the only (semi) comfy sleeping position for me is on my back, but apparently this is a big no no. Had a big fight with my mum in my sleep deprived mania this weekend who said she thinks I need counselling (her answer to everything). I said I don't need counselling I need a bloody good nights sleep! For the record, my mum is a child psychotherapist. Can you see that causing any problems once I have this baby?!

Derlor, this is my first baby so can't really empathise with your feelings about having a third - but I'm sure third births aren't jinxed! I'm sure everything will be fine. I expect we all have really seemingly irrational fears about labour (not saying yours is irrational, but you know what I mean, not like the expected fears) and my biggest fear is having to have injections or stitches. Maybe you will feel better if you don't keep it to yourself. Can you speak to whoever is going to be your birth partner and talk it through. Maybe they can reassure you how unlikely it actually will be that you will give birth in a car, and maybe talk to your midwife about how it would actually go if worst case you did have to give birth in a car, kind of confront it head on. Don't know if that helps, but I do know that keeping things like that in can make things seem a lot worse than they actually are.

Ann Summers, huh?!
Re. sleeping on your back, according to my NCT teacher you really shouldn't worry about it - she said your body was perfectly able to get this far on its own; if you're comfortable on your back then your body will be fine with it. It's only a problem if you feel uncomfortable, which some people do. Otherwise, just do whatever feels right. As she pointed out, sleep is the one time you leave your body to its own devices and the likelihood is that it knows what's right more than you do.
Oh dear, have I been NCTd?! Her other big tip was to take time to relax and conserve energy. I can't say I really needed a huge amount of encouragement on that score...
Nothing about the benefit of chocolate, but I'm assuming that'll come up in a future class...
Doggus, sorry to hear you're unwell. HOpe you get better soon.

derlor · 27/03/2007 18:25

thanks bump for your kind words - birthing partner is my dh who is probably more terrified of the possible car scenario than me - after all his job of birthing partner will suddenly escalate to midwife/husband!! think he will be passed out under the car and i'll have to do all the bloody pushing and pulling myself.
seriously though i appreciate we all have crazy fears at this stage and it obviously doesn't matter whether this is your 1st or 10th pg(god forbid!!) it's good to just be able to talk them through.
i had stitches with my 1st and believe me after giving birth a few stitches is not a problem - itchy and annoying when walking about afterwards though. have a good tip for that if you need it in the future - ice poles wrapped in kitchen roll in your pants!!!!!!!!! works a treat. (i'm obviously back in Dr mode) (not ruth though)

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 27/03/2007 18:35

Well...it's all coming out today! Bumper you minx!!

I'm a bit frightened of delivering really quickly as well delor! My dd was 4 hours and the hospital is an hour away in rush hour. Therefore I have decided on a homebirth. That way if I do end up delivering my own baby at least I will be at home and not on the side of the road bearing my fanjo to all and sundry! Imagine giving birth in a car, it must have been awful for her and her poor dh. They must have been so scared. At least it's a good story to tell!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 27/03/2007 18:36

The most annoying thing about stitches is the first poo!! It took me 5 days and it hurt like hell!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 27/03/2007 18:38

I've just reread that and it makes no sense! I didn't take 5 days to have a poo, it took me 5 days to pluck up the courage!

derlor · 27/03/2007 18:45

glad you cleared that up holly the thought of spending 5 days passing 1 poo made my eyes water!!!

Daisybump · 27/03/2007 18:45

My DS would like to say Hello to all you ladies and to send you some cheeky faces as he is feeling a little bit cheeky. He would also like to be known on mumsnet as Mystic Red Ranger (Nick) and is wondering what all the fuss is about and why mum spends so much time on here.

xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx from mystic red ranger

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 27/03/2007 18:47

Hi mystic red ranger

bumperlicious · 27/03/2007 18:52

I know, everyone says that after giving birth having stitches will be the last thing on my mind. But when I was 10 or so I severely broke my wrist and was lying in A&E for hours in agony but refused pethadine because I didn't want to have an injection. And they had to put me under general anaesthetic to set it, which I refused until the last minute even though they said it would be too traumatic and painful to do it without. Now that's irrational! And next week I have to have my anti-D jab. I know it's never as bad as you think, but my last jab I had to have two nurses holding me down while the third jabbed a needle in me. And I nearly knocked the dentist out last time I had to have a filling!

Anyway, enough fretting, tomorrow is my last birthday (which as far as I am concerned means that it has started now!), my ast child-free one, so I am just going to chill and appreciate having a day off work while DH waits on me. Just hope I get some sleep tonight...

hi hollly from mysticx reddddddd ranggggr5
...(Daisybump adds.....mystic red ranger punches himself in the head with the excitement of it all...well he is only four and 10/12ths )

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 27/03/2007 19:01

You may not even have stitches bumper, a lot of people don't. Even if you do tear it may only be a small one that doesn't need stitching. I think that it is almost easier to have an injection in your fanjo region than in your arm or hand because you will never see the needle. Your mw will cover your legs and if you are in hospital she will prob put you in stirrups so you have no idea what she is doing. I'm not going to say that you won't feel the local go in, because you will, but your mw will give you g&a to concentrate on. Once the local starts working you won't even notice she is doing anything. After you have just pushed out a baby you will just want whatever needs to be done to be done so you can concentrate on your new bundle. I was bfing whilst the mw was finishing the stitching! Hope this helps!!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 27/03/2007 19:03

Wow mystic red ranger is super cool!! I bet he'll be a super hero big brother!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 27/03/2007 19:14

Eek!
I am a needle phobic too. Have my fillings done at the dentist without any pain releif! I cope with the needle going in okay (just) but then pass out about 30 seconds afterwards. I don't know how I am going to cope with this birth (very worried).
More worrying is non needle phobics telling me it will be okay and I wont notice. I know there will be needles in the delivery room and that will be enough to set me off! I get so stressed I just pass out (no screaming / fighting it etc!)
I know I am a total arsehole but cant seem to control it!

Daisybump · 27/03/2007 19:27

Can't imagine what that sort of phobia is like. I don't mind needles, but my veins shrink whenever one comes near me and they can't get any blood out of me and then I end up bruised to hell and back....can you try hypnotism to get over that fear...it's supposed to be really effective.

Mystic Red Ranger is saying "Good Night" now as it's well past my bedtime.

Daisybump · 27/03/2007 19:29

your not an arsehole DKMA...just someone with an irrational fear...I freak out over spiders FFS.....and they can't hurt!!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 27/03/2007 19:46

I broke my pelvis 2 years ago in a horse riding accident and whilst lying face down in the grass - unable to move - the first thing I said to my friend who was with me - after she had called the ambulance - was 'don't let them give me an injection!' followed by 'and don't let them cut of my jodphurs infront of everyone!' as I had a very skimpy thong on and everyone would have seen my bum!!
I think I need to look into hypnotherapy!
