peas that's a good idea, I'm in a 3 storey house so I should do that. Was thinking of getting an extra changing mat for the same reason too.

newbieho · 28/02/2017 15:05

Sanity we have got two cats and I'm planning to put the baby in the sling, carrycot (safe to have a nap in it) or in the travel cot for the time we're going to spend downstairs.

Autumnsweater · 28/02/2017 15:54

I've heard a nursing pillow is a godsend - what do people think/any recommendations?

savagehk · 28/02/2017 16:00

autumn yes, good for saving your back. We used a second-hand boppy (got off a local seller) last time, looking for something similar again. We didn't use it particularly long though, so not something I'd want to spend loads on, and you might well be able to use a maternity sleeping pillow if you have one.

Northernexile · 28/02/2017 16:14

I also had a boppy, which I really liked. That reminds me to get a new cover for it actually!

Savage it is the hospital where I'll be having my section. I really hope they won't want me to stay in as we are flat out at work and not sure how I'll manage with the 2 DDs at home.

stationaryace · 28/02/2017 16:40

If you're planning on breast feeding, last time I swore by my nipple shields. The hvs hate them but it was the one thing that kept me going through the first few weeks - I'm not sure if it was a latch problem or a supply but there were times at 1am that I was in tears as it hurt so much. Of course when the shops were open the pain subsided and I'd decide it wasn't that bad, yet come that evening I'd be cursing silly daytime me. I picked some up in my local chemist and will definitely be getting new ones this time for my bag.

beanturnipandspud · 28/02/2017 17:03

northern fingers crossed for you. I am having routine growth scans and saw the placenta team at 23wks, they checked my placenta and cord. My 'findings' were ... umbilical artery Doppler - normal. PI

Sipperskipper · 28/02/2017 17:51

Thinking of you northern. I guess the only way to look at it is that you will be recieving the best possible care and close monitoring by a senior specialist. And hopefully those strong kicks are a sign that baby is doing well in there!

RedBlu · 28/02/2017 17:59

As a present for surviving the GTT (my arms are so sore), I have booked a 4D scan for end of the week!

WishIWasSleeping · 28/02/2017 18:18

So, I haven't caught up on the posts - I just wanted to say...
World Book Day...
At my DD's nursery.... in 2 days time... Shock

yellowismyfavourite · 28/02/2017 18:34

Good luck northern hope all is well. At least they are going to keep an eye on everything, which I guess is a positive

RasperryInAMelon · 28/02/2017 19:05

Wish that sounds brutal!

beanturnipandspud · 28/02/2017 19:26

wish I know your pain. Turnip is going as goldilocks, bean insists that he is going as his favourite football player, when challenged that this is not a book character he brought the football programme to me from the last match he went on! 😩 give me strength! 6 year olds are cocky! X

newbieho · 28/02/2017 19:55

Bean you have to admit there is a logic in your son's thinking. Defending his point of view already 👏

peasandquiet · 28/02/2017 19:55

Thankfully for me this is the first week of my son swapping nursery day so we are avoiding book day ! Yipeee!

Sonnet18 · 28/02/2017 19:56

My goodness, page 7 of a new thread already! I can't keep up!
Just place marketing and a quick post to say hi and hope everyone is well. I'm 30 weeks now and mostly well (except constant heartburn and being shattered!)

jennymac31 · 28/02/2017 20:06

Wish - can't believe it's that time of year again! Dd wants to take all of her princess dresses to nursery but have managed to get her to decide on one dress so she'll be dressed as snow white, as 3 of her friends plan to wear the same dress! Have got many more years of this to look forward to!

1004Rise · 28/02/2017 20:49

Just checking in, grumpy pregnant lady today.... in addition to forgetting to pack tights I didn't sleep for most of last night then fell asleep about an hour before my alarm went off only to wake up groggy Confused

Hopefully I'm so tired tonight I will just drop off.... I have decided if I'm wide awake at 3.30 am again I will get up and do something useful like wash my hair Hmm

Welcome sanity, you've bought loads compared to me (first baby too).. so far we have a car seat and pram (on order) a next to me cot ( that needs a new mattress) and that's it! We're aiming for what do we need to survive the first week and beyond that there is Amazon prime and 24 hr Tescos! I do want to at least get my hospital bag sorted this weekend (mrsjw's friend has panicked me a bit with her 31 week breaking waters Blush), if baby turned up now s/he would be too small to fit in any and I'm sure the hospital would have stuff to tide us over til we got to the shops. With clothes I'm thinking of, one on, one in the wash, one in the drawer, one drying and one for luck!

I refuse to count weekends, I'm just not ready for that much reality yet Hmm

Red hope your not Pizza Hut made your arms better!

Nothern hope all is good with your extra scans, it's good baby is actively beating you up! Wink

At the risk of asking an awkward question, why is world book day a bad thing? ( I have a feeling I may learn this soon.....)

What have you ladies (that will be in hospital) packed for you to wear home? I was thinking maternity leggings - lots of space - and long top..?

savagehk · 28/02/2017 20:54

1004 you'll still be pretty big post-birth (not quite 9-months-big, but certainly 4-5months) so your "normal" maternity clothes should do, just make sure that whatever bottoms you pack are suitable with your massive underwear and maternity pad! You might also want something you can breastfeed in if the trip isn't particularly short just in case. If you had had a c-section you'd also want something that wasn't tight over your scar.

beanturnipandspud · 28/02/2017 20:57

rise not an awkward question. But any dressy up day at school fills me with dread, as it is another thing to do on a never ending list. Then you finally sort an outfit and a child will decide they can't possibly wear that anymore and a full blown tantrum could happen.

newbie yes I admit his logic is brill. May have to give in and let him take the 'book' in with him.

I have anti-d on Friday, I can't remember from my last pregnancies. How long are you in hospital for?

teainbed · 28/02/2017 20:57

It's the competitive costume making Rise. Seems to be very much removed from encouraging a love of books!

beanturnipandspud · 28/02/2017 21:00

rise maternity clothes are best to travel home in. I just wanted to get home and really didn't care what I was wearing. I think I would have gone in my pyjamas 🙈

If a csection happens you won't want anything tight, I was told that if you use a sanitary towel stuck to the top of your pants it stops things rubbing. I've been lucky and never had to try this trick.

EsmesBees · 28/02/2017 21:11

You mean for the anti-d jab bean? If so had mine last week. Was in and out in half an hour (was part of my 28wk appt).

beanturnipandspud · 28/02/2017 21:32

esmes yes the anti-d Jab. I didn't know if they had to take blood again and test prior to the administration. It's been 4 years since I last had it.
I can deal with 30mins though. Do you have to have it again? Some areas do one in pregnancy and other do two. I am unsure what my area does. Will find out on Friday 😊 thank you

EsmesBees · 28/02/2017 21:43

They did take blood, but didn't wait for it to be tested. I just have the one jab this time, last time, at a different trust, it was two. The midwife said to let my arm hang limp by my side and I wouldn't feel it, and she was right!
