No bleeding Nurse but discharge possibly a bit increased. I think I'd better call - I just hate causing a fuss!

savagehk · 09/03/2017 14:44

Remember they'd rather have 99 'fusses' to catch 1 problem Smile

nursebickypegs · 09/03/2017 14:45

I always tell my patients that you are never ever causing a fuss. I'd rather you ring me 100000 times than not ring me that 1 time when I needed to be with you.

If discharge has increased, give them a bell! Thinking of you.

Badgerbird · 09/03/2017 14:51

Call them straight away jw that's what triage is for. No point being in pain and worrying. It's too important ;)

1004Rise · 09/03/2017 14:52

Thanks for the advice, I'd never have thought of leaving the room!

Hope all ok MrsJW definitely call, even if all they do is reassure you that's better for you and the baby than you worrying Flowers

Big congratulations on the job nurse that's awesome news Winefor you in a few weeks Grin

newbieho · 09/03/2017 15:12

Nurse massive congratulations Star it looks the new employer may be much better than your current one.

MrsJW hope all goes well - fingers crossed x

MrsJW15 · 09/03/2017 15:14

Thanks ladies. On my way in now. Suspect it will be a bit of waiting around but I'll keep you updated. Baby is of course having a little wriggle on the train but it's still not much movement.

Congratulations on the job Nurse!

Sipperskipper · 09/03/2017 15:56

Hope all is ok mrsjw. As others have said, better to be on the safe side, even if it is just to give yourself some reassurance. Let us know how you get on.

jennymac31 · 09/03/2017 17:23

Congratulations on the job role nurse!

Badgerbird - thanks for the insight on your pregnancy relaxation session. Am gonna see if there is anything similar available at my local trust.

beanturnipandspud · 09/03/2017 17:25

Thinking of your mrsjw FlowersFlowers

Thank you for all the links regarding bf everyone. Will be reading up on these ... third time lucky for me. This time I am determined. 😊

Spud is hurting today, I have just come for a lie down. Apparently the more babies you have the more pains you gain. I have what I call 'fanny daggers' and they are really hurting today. I feel like he's going to pop out any second.

29wks today and accepted an offer on our house. 8 wks to sell and buy a house ... do we think this is possible? I have to have a hb check at 37wks so will need to be in one house or the other at this point. 😑

nursebickypegs · 09/03/2017 17:34

@beanturnipandspud ugh I had fanny daggers on Saturday. I was finishing his nursery and I swear if I sneezed I'd looked down and seen a leg Blush

Husband has surprised me with a week off next week! Rejoice! We have baby scan on Monday, and the rest of the week is ours.

Tomorrow I have my diabetes test so I'm waddling to Asda in a bit to get a word search book to pass the time! Also my work have rang me; they said if they don't receive my sick note tomorrow they will put me on shift for the weekend. Give. Me. Strength. (It runs out Friday night)

coxsorangepippin · 09/03/2017 17:40

Can I ask advice from the experiences mums, hcps and wise ladies? I'm planning to go back to work when baby is 6-7 months, and then DH will take leave. That means baby will need to be accepting of bottles as well as breast, and I can't imagine expressing routinely/long term. So that means mix feeding, right? Cos you introduce solids at 6m but that's in addition to lots of milk not instead, I think...
I'm guessing probably better to get baby used to daddy feeding a bottle before I actually go back. So do I start to introduce it after a month or two or only just before I go back to work?

Teaspoon74 · 09/03/2017 17:54

Another mammoth catch up after a day or so away! Apols to anyone with good tests/news etc I've missed - put it down to baby rain ;)

MrsJW - let us know how you're doing!

Dream - "knackered hobbit" is just making me grin ;)

Nurse- big congrats on the new job! Sounds perfick and if you can the childcare work too that would be amazing! Also sounds like it's a good time to be leaving your current manager!

And loving the cat pics Nurse, KLane, Sanity, Newbie, Cox, Claire!! We tried playing baby crying noises to our two fur babies the other eve: one tried to soothe the phone by head rubbing it, the other scarpered!! The grey (Puddle) likes to spoon at night so has been getting freaked out by increasingly strong baby kicks. Whilst the tabby (Belly) likes to lie in the dip between my ribs and hip when on my side (spooning Puddle!) and seems to enjoy the kicks. All v odd!

Rustler - must be a relief that the measurements are up?! Do you get teary when you hear the heartbeat?

Badger - ha! Hadn't seen that. Will be me, no doubt Grin

Wish & Tea - I'm another one for the"no sleep" club. Peeing every 2 hours and when I do get back to bed it's to the sound of my OH snoring away or trying (very sweetly) to schmuggle when I already feel like a portable cooker!!

Sanity - your local NCT sounds like a right cow! TBH I'm only going in the hope I make some local mum mates (does that read as sad as it sounds in my head?!?) anyhoo. More importantly, do we get to see you in the dress?!? Sure you'll look gorgeous!

And now for the cat pics:

Cox I don't have any direct experience of this but think I can help a little (hopefully) yes at 7 months your baby will still be drinking in the region of 28oz - 32oz be it via boob or bottle of milk alongside trying/refusing/guzzling 😂 Some food.
It will be possible for your to direct BF before and after work and through the night and a real bottle refuser might get all its milk needs in the more antisocial 7-7.
I think you should think about what you really want in terms of how you feed the baby. Do you want to EBF for a set length of time, are you happy to mix feed, how would you feel if you gave a bottle from say 3 months and then baby refused boob? In reality so much of this can be decided nearer the time, get the baby delivered and feeding well before you make any decisions.
I know what I would do in your situation but that doesn't make my opinion right iyswim?

beanturnipandspud · 09/03/2017 18:12

cox I can't offer all the advice you are aiming for. But I went back to work when Turnip was 5months old, she wasn't bf though. However when we introduced food to her at 6 mnths, we babyled weaned. And she refused all milk bar the milk on her cereal and a bedtime bottle. She wanted water and food, this was from 7months. She is still a fantastic un fussy eater now, and will pick fruit before sweets. We bribe her with strawberries and raspberries often 👍🏼

MrsJW15 · 09/03/2017 18:31

Thanks all. It looks like everything's ok. They seemed slightly concerned by the discharge but have sent some swabs I think. Just waiting to be sent home.

coxsorangepippin · 09/03/2017 19:08

mrsjw glad to hear it!

bean, peas thank you! I think I like the idea of mix feeding so DH can join in, and want ideally to ebf until baby and I really get the hang of it. After that I sort of think I'll probably carry on for longer if I'm not doing it all. So as down-sides go, I think I'd prefer a baby who refused the boob once we tried to mix feed than who refused the bottle. I will need to watch out for signs of depression, and I'm pretty sure doing the night feeds while working would not be good for me!

Def into the idea of BLW so I'm guessing that means being sure baby is getting enough milk calories in case it prefers playing with food to eating it!

Now I'm less cross, it's time you meet our mini :

Glad I'm not the only one having a second breakfast dream! I've been having something at home around 6.30am then another breakfast at work around 9 Blush I just get too hungry otherwise!

Glad all is ok mrsjw hope you have a relaxing evening to recover.

bean I've been having those fanny daggers too! Not fun at all.

nurse massive congrats on the new job. That sounds perfect and now you can relax and enjoy maternity leave. Can't wait for mine, only 6 weeks to go (27 working days, not that I'm counting!)

ClaireSunflower · 09/03/2017 19:35

Lovely scan photo rustler Smile

vanilla8 · 09/03/2017 19:41

Hi cox. I could have written your post! Going to be in the same position, DH taking SPL and I'm going back to work!

growcookeat · 09/03/2017 19:51

Bean - glad I could help!
Sanity - no this absolutely shouldn't be what education is about! It's so much more than testing young children.

Congratulations nurse! That sounds a better deal all round.

Mrsjw good news that all is well. These little ones just love to scare us!

I'm another one not enjoying the fanny daggers!!

16 work days left for me Shock time is flying!

mrscrocopop · 09/03/2017 20:06

Gosh, taken me ages to catch up!

Lovely scan pic Rustler. How many weeks are you?

I have just worked on I only have 29 working days left. 😳 Cue impromptu freak out and simultaneous celebration! I am 31 weeks tomorrow and feeling ridiculously hormonal. I cried this morning because I couldn't get my jeans off my leg.

Rustler74 · 09/03/2017 20:21

@mrscrocopop I'll be 29 weeks tomorrow, and baby's on the 90th percentile.
Funny enough, baby is exactly where I thought it was, and breech. I'm looking forward to lie down tonight and have the normal kicks going on!

15 days left at work, spread over 6 weeks!
I'll be induced before my due date but I'll have to try and negotiate a date that suits me, so that baby has chance to pop out before then.

@MrsJW15 so relieved and good you went in!

We are a lively bunch... time for a new thread soon!

Early morning as travelling to see my parents for what will be my last trip alone. Eurostar at 8.56 and luckily I arrive in the correct station in London. Back home on Tuesday!

WishIWasSleeping · 09/03/2017 20:29

I'm another loving the excuse to have a second breakfast... did it with my first too, so cereal at about 6am and whatever I can find at 9-10ish!
I'm not sure I get the joyous sounding daggers, I do get awful itching though.. mw says it's just from the pressure of baby.
And I currently work a 4 day week, and am 31wks today so I also have 28 days left at work! Grin I'm quite relieved to know that to be honest!
And for those worrying about BF, I was quite determined to, and was lucky as baby was happy. No one notices when your out and about to be honest, and no one ever said anything to me. I BF until DD was 10months. (Morning and night) She was also eating food from 5.5m. I returned to work at 6m, she went onto formula too at about 8m as I couldn't keep up with her demands! And didn't drop any milk feeds until around 9m. (7oz every 4hrs, none overnight)
Savage's advice is again spot on. It's really hard to express colostrum, and it's much easier to get into a rhythm first, without worrying about expressing.
But please don't worry about it, at the end of the day, FED is best, whether it's bottle or breast.
Congrats on the new job nurseBP. I'm in the midlands too, about 40 mins from Notts... although I think we're the only ones! x
