Have never had GTT so not much help. The only time that I tested positive for glucose was after a large bowl of sugar puffs Had you eaten something sugary before doing your sample or just a normal day?

Hiya katty I think different hospitals do it differently.... one hospital wanted me to go for one and said that I would have to starve meself from midnight and then they would take my bloods as soon as I got there, then they would give me a lucozade and two hours later take another blood sample. HTH

Didn't go in the end, transfered hospitals and the 2nd hospital didn't think it nessisary. Hope yours goes well though.

I had just had my breakfast, but she didn't seem to think that was it as it would have taken a couple of hours to show up.
Should I be worried?

Sounds like they are being careful Katy, try not to worry yet.

I wouldn't worry katy. Gestational diabetes can ususally be managed by diet control and when the baby is born your blood sugar will go back to normal.... and that is if you even have gestational diabetes. Try not to stress about it until you get your results (easier said then done, I know)

What is wrong with me today?

I had a GTT at 28 weeks - was fine - wasn't allowed to eat or drink - test at 9am luckily - took blood, had yuk drink - went back two hours later - took more blood - then was allowed to eat. Mine was all clear - but was due to previous big baby not sugar in wee - they will just want to check it out. Diet is best way to control it - they will refer you to a dietician at hosp if you do have it.

Katy - I had a GTT but I think they are routine here, wasn´t for any particular reason. Oh. except that my midwife thought, thinks, will think, that I am a big lardarse so obviously more at risk Couldn´t have anything to eat or drink but luckily got seen at 8.30am, take blood, give you a very sugary drink, wait for an hour, another blood test. Apparently it can be very normal to fail this. If you do you go back without fasting in the morning and do the test once an hour for 3 hours. If you fail THAT you have gestational diabetes. I passed the first one so didn´t need to go back, no idea if they will check me again later on or not..

I´m really kind of scared now re. perineal massage.. don´t know if I want to know how you all get on or not.. [eek]

Don´t tell me we have to start checking our cervixes (cervii?) soon aswell? Cos I don´t know if my hand will go up that far.. if a guy with a prime spot between my legs and a lamp and a speculum has trouble finding it (yes I mean my gynaecologist not dh) I don´t see how I have a hope in hell.
