Last time I used up all the holidays I was due up until the maternity leave started and any that I accrued after that date was paid at the end of my leave. It was common at my work, if you were planning 12 months off, to take 11 months maternity and the last month as holiday before starting again, reducing unpaid months from 3 to 2. I was made redundant at the end of my leave last time so got it included with my payout. I don't think they can insist you take all your holidays, including those you'll accrue, before maternity but I know the idea of fitting in the additional days off gave my boss the heebeejeebees.

Raspberry my extended family are notorious for the one-way motorway that has existed between them and us since I was tiny. It was also so "easy" for us to come down and see them and so "hard" for them to come up north Hmm

Thursday coffee-
newbie
PeachedIceTea
Rasperry
EsmeBees
Coxsorangepippin

But how will we recognise each other? What if I walk up to some random women and say 'hello are you raspberry' etc Blush

PeachIcedT · 22/11/2016 22:21

Good to know that strategy worked for you raspberry! And I can certainly see a difference between the two images, I haven't taken any but should start having seen yours! Smile

RasperryInAMelon · 22/11/2016 22:24

Cox I'm guessing 5 pregnant ladies all in one coffee shop might be a bit of a giveaway, but this is me... and my DH, I don't typically have a beard...

lullaby that's frustrating! Step away from google and here's to keeping yourself busy for another tww Confused

Great news jonsnow :)

littlem that's brilliant news!!! You must feel relieved :)

Lovely news adventure, how fun to know you're having a little boy!

Love the bump photos raspberry. My sisters been harassing me to do some but I still feel shy about it Blush I know, I'm a plonker and should embrace my bump (& thighs, extra chin etc!)!

lullaby23 · 23/11/2016 05:42

Congrats on the boy adventure 💙

Barnes79 · 23/11/2016 07:52

I'm a bit envious of your bump raspberry - I barely have anything! In a way I can't wait for my bump to arrive so I can start to "feel" pregnant. At the moment it just looks like I had a big lunch Blush

mummyplus7 · 23/11/2016 08:53

Don't have a pic but I'm massive already with it being number 8, I have no uterine tone

Streaky17 · 23/11/2016 09:41

Great bump pics raspberry I've been taking bump pics with the pocket midwife app. Its hard to notice a difference its more pronounced in real life.

Is anyone else struggling to sleep on their side- I always seem to end up on my back and last night I woke twice in a panic on my back this was probably my subconscious telling me to get off my back.

I'm going to embarrass myself tonight - I'm taking a cushion to a concert to save sitting on narrow wooden seats for hours.

Jingles80 · 23/11/2016 09:42

I'm good for a meet up tomorrow too 😊 Looking forward to putting faces to nicknames!

So we have:

PeachedIceTea
Rasperry
EsmeBees
Coxsorangepippin
Jingles

Is the plan to still go to Costa between platforms 7/8 for 6:15pm? Sorry I've been out of the thread for a few days!

lucieloos · 23/11/2016 09:45

Some good Black Friday deals on mothercare today!

RasperryInAMelon · 23/11/2016 09:50

Lucie I promised myself I'd wait, but I know what I want so I think I'm going to bite the bullet and order my pushchair this week whilst it has a free car seat! The money I save on that will pay for an isofix base!

Jingles tis' the plan indeed! See you there!

MissMooMoo · 23/11/2016 09:52

Oh raspberry your bump is lovely!
I took one last week at 14+2,I think I just look a little chubby Blush

Flingmoo · 23/11/2016 09:59

I will do a bump pic later, still in my dressing gown right now as it's my day off Grin

Streaky I sleep in any position still, even on my front at times Shock The baby is still small and well paddes floating around inside. I will start sleeping on my side more when it gets uncomfortable though. I remember in my first pregnancy I really missed being able to get comfortable and sleep in other positions by the end of it so this time I'm trying to make the most of sleeping in whatever position I want until I really need to... I suppose now the first trimester is over I might need to start being more careful though.

McBaby · 23/11/2016 10:01

This is a great deal if anyone wants a sling. I love my ergo

We

lucieloos · 23/11/2016 10:10

Raspberry, I want to wait as well. My 20 week scan is 3rd Jan so I've told myself they will probably also have these deals in the January sales?! I just don't think I can bring myself to do it before they've done the thorough check at 20 weeks even though there is a free car seat with the pushchair I want as well.

Anyone know if they do good deals in Jan?

1004Rise · 23/11/2016 10:28

Lucie I think they will still have good deals in January.... even if they don't I can't bring myself to buy anything like that yet.

We haven't seriously looked at anything yet either for the same reason. I'm never normally superstitious about anything but with this I am Blush

Dizziness is better today, or I'm just aware of it so I'm standing up slower. My BP was 90/50 last time so lowish I suppose but I have a midwife appointment next week so I'll definitely mention it then Smile

RasperryInAMelon · 23/11/2016 10:44

DH is possibly going to be made redundant in the NY so we need to get as much as we can for our money.

Sounds awful, but Mothercare have their Xmas returns policy on until Jan 31st and I have my 20 week scan on Jan 5th.

My nursery furniture arrived yesterday but it's staying in the box until after then, plus the pushchair is on preorder too.

Heaven forbid anything should go wrong, I have until end of Jan to return things.

Adventuregame · 23/11/2016 10:52

So I had my first meltdown yesterday. Cried in the evening, cried when we went to bed then woke up at 4am and cried again ! When we found out it was a boy I suddenly realised how much I'd wanted a girl and totally freaking out about it. Feel awful for saying it cos this time yesterday all I cared about was seeing a heartbeat and knowing everything was OK. Just can't imagine myself in 15 years having a boy ? I know I'm overthinking but very tearful about it.

McBaby · 23/11/2016 11:15

I didn't buy anything first time around till 28 weeks when dp made me as I was admitted for premature contractions at 26 weeks and my spd was so bad if we didnt go then I might have not made it to the shops.

This time around I feel like I have nothing to buy so prob won't bother till very near the end.

I have s hideous cold any help on how to ease it without taking any medication?

savagehk · 23/11/2016 11:18

adventure hope you feel better soon. Perhaps it's a good thing you've found out so you can process it well before baby arrives? Fwiw i have a boy and think I'd have a lot more trouble with a teenage girl... We are going for a surprise again so will see!

RasperryInAMelon · 23/11/2016 11:18

Oh Adventure, I'm with you. Whilst I know all we want is a healthy happy baby, I would be over the moon to have a girl and think that there will be a little part of me that would feel sad about it.

You will all grow as a family into what will be a beautiful future though Flowers

FoxMulder · 23/11/2016 11:19

I can't imagine having a teenager full stop! I wouldn't be thinking about 15 years down the line. Babies are the same whatever bits are between their legs. He'll be your little boy and you won't be able to imagine it any other way. Why do you think you want a girl?

MrsJW15 · 23/11/2016 11:30

I'm waiting as well, I assume there will be deals in January - and probably something in the spring too. I just cant bring myself to buy anything before the 20 week scan, which for us is the week after Christmas.

Hugs Adventure. We are not going to find out, but I do really want a girl. I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever I do have though - I just want a healthy baby!
