I worked right up to the wire with dd and was glad I did as she was 10 days late!

newbie I'm hoping to come on Thursday.

Raspberry I think your partner would get whatever you would have been entitled to had you still been on Mat leave. my dh took over in the unpaid bit so it was pretty simple to figure out.

MrsJW15 · 22/11/2016 12:50

MissMooMoo we are the same - small flat, rely on public transport, and we have a similar list. My only concern with the Bee is that baby seems quite low down and as husband is quite tall, that may be a bit weird.

Savage I will look out for petite straps - didn't know that was even an option.

MissMooMoo NHS definitely says melted brie is fine!

I've been talking to HR about leave etc today. Really need OH to find out what he's actually entitled to, but we are keen for him to have a longer period of time off at the start.

Barnes79 · 22/11/2016 13:17

1004rise - I'm not getting the dizziness but it sounds like you may want your GP/midwife to check your blood pressure in sitting and then standing. Make sure you're drinking enough fluids in the meantime. Hope you feel better soon.

newbieho · 22/11/2016 13:30

Updated list for Thursday catch up:

newbie
PeachedIceTea
Rasperry
EsmeBees

See you soon!

Northernexile · 22/11/2016 13:33

1004 my first thought was blood pressure too. Mine was low (50/90) last week at my 16 week check and the midwife said just to be careful when getting up after standing. I do get a bit lightheaded sometimes. She also said it was nothing to worry about though and that I didn't need to do anything about it. I guess low if definitely better than high anyway. Might be worth getting checked in case it's something else though, like anaemia?

Flingmoo · 22/11/2016 13:33

I always eat baked camembert, melted gorgonzola etc without guilt 😁

MissMooMoo · 22/11/2016 13:45

I had the toastie for lunch, was delish.

MrsJ my DH is quite tall too, over 6ft and I am about 5'4. I like the fact the bee can have the carrycot if we want it to,raspberry doesn't have one.
I have read the bee has better suspension.
I prefer the look of the raspberry though, and it seems easier to extend the handle which is obviously important when you have a height diff.

savagehk · 22/11/2016 13:55

Re dizziness, mild dizziness I expect is fine (your body is getting used to a lot more blood / fluid etc).

I'd mention it at the next midwife appt though, they'll look at your blood pressure and see. I tend to low blood pressure normally (even lower when pregnant) and have been anaemic both times (they should pick up anaemia from your initial bloods, though). I passed out after the midwife took my check-in bloods (!)

MrsJW15 · 22/11/2016 14:31

MissMooMoo I think at some point we need to go into somewhere like John Lewis and have a proper play with all of them! Otherwise I'll just end up choosing the colour that I like and being totally impractical.

Gurtie28 · 22/11/2016 14:48

rise I have been dizzy since the start, it was one of the reasons I took a pregnancy test. As others have said, low blood pressure was the cause with me and is very common. Seems to have gotten a lot better the past few weeks, but still feel it when I stand up to quickly!!
Defo mention it to your midwife

EsmesBees · 22/11/2016 15:44

Those considering the bugaboo bee- one tip is to avoid the yellow- it attracts loads of insects in the summer.

Going out for a rare drink tonight. I do miss having a nice glass of wine. I find most soft drinks are either too sweet or really boring.

FoxMulder · 22/11/2016 16:07

I don't think I've been out for a drink in 3.5 years Sad

Do you often have occasion to eat baked camembert Mamushka? Grin

Adventuregame · 22/11/2016 16:37

Harmony scan was all fine. Very thorough - got loads of photos (should think so for the price) ! Blood test been sent off. Oh and it's a boy !

EsmesBees · 22/11/2016 17:02

Great news adventure. Must make it seem very real knowing it's a boy already.

Don't get too jealous fox- it's a drink in a nasty pub near work with some ex-colleagues. I'm mainly going for networking purposes!

Sipperskipper · 22/11/2016 17:47

Great news adventure, and to all others with good scan / cvs results!

SK28 · 22/11/2016 18:45

MooMoo and MrsJW it might be worth looking at the M&P Armadillo Flip (newer version). I have the original and I was about to buy the Bee when the Flip launched and I went for that. It folds very easily with one hand, is very light and easy to steer, really great for London public transport, is small when folded and is in one piece. The newer model has an extendable handle, so may swing it for you over the Bee. Great basket underneath, and a beautiful carrycot if you want it, or the cocoon option like the Bee has for newborns instead. I can't rate it highly enough!

Raspberry I'm sorry your friend and family are making you sad. I totally get why you are, and I think (pregnancy hormones aside) they are being a bit mean and unreasonable. But hopefully when the baby arrives they will realise how much they want to meet the baby and see you, and they'll change their tune. Fingers crossed for you and I hope in the meantime the meet-up and any of the antenatal stuff you do helps you feel more optimistic about making new mum friends x

FoxMulder · 22/11/2016 18:55

Fair enough esme Grin

lucieloos · 22/11/2016 19:00

Great news on the harmony adventure!

Does anyone know what happens with bank holidays while on maternity leave?

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 22/11/2016 19:04

High five for another boy adventure and almost as exciting, your toastie MissMoo!

Thanks for all your thoughts on whether to take or conserve leave, very helpful keep it coming! Midwife said today that first babies are often late so I'll keep that in mind too, but I really want that bank holiday baby. Time to batch cook and freeze curry I think!

MrsJW15 · 22/11/2016 19:46

Thanks SK28 I'll take a look. Never even heard of that one!

Lucie I spoke to HR today and you accrue your bank holidays like your annual leave. So if you are on mat leave for two May bank holidays plus August, you gain three days paid leave.

lucieloos · 22/11/2016 19:58

Brilliant thanks MrsJ that's what I thought but wasn't sure.

newbieho · 22/11/2016 21:16

Congratulations Adventure Smile

PeachIcedT · 22/11/2016 21:46

Congratulations littleelm on the CVS result and Adventure on your harmony results, how exciting you already know it's a boy!

I've now told about 8 people at work, struggling to announce it in any way and my new strategy is tighter fitting clothing so people may start asking - don't know why I can't just find some way of telling people more directly!

Peach that's what I did, gave up on loose clothes and went back to tighter dresses so people just ask now!

Has anyone started taking bump pictures? I didn't think I'd changed much, but took a photo a few weeks back at 7 weeks and took another tonight... I cannot believe how much I've changed, I really didn't think I'd grown that much!
