Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! From morning sickness in the first trimester to the third trimester struggle of getting out of bed ( "walrus-ing"in our house), to actual real babies who are growing so fast! Discussion on the merits of sleepyhead and Ewan the dream sheep.

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

Love all the baby pictures! Managed to get DH on board for a weekend of tidying and setting things up! Need to get a few more baby grows though I think going for a lunch at my work on Thursday so hopefully will get some more basics then. Going to try and get the ISO fix into the car and the snuzpod built tomorrow too

IrregularCommentary · 12/11/2016 12:47

I am at the hairdressers! Colour is on and I have been here 1 1/4hrs already. It's so peaceful and nobody is crying and I keep being offered drinks and I've drunk coffee whilst hot twice!!

Audrey - been browsing for Uppababy Vista, Joolz Geo, iCandy Peach or Apple, and the Silvercross range. Want something that will last if we ever decide to have a second child (not on the cards but we are in our 30s so would need to make a decision within a few years) but they all look very similar and very expensive Confused. The focus from the companies seems to be more on colour options than practicality! Any recommendations?

AudreyBradshaw · 12/11/2016 14:05

We've got the silver cross pioneer because I wanted a beast big basket. Only thing missing is an exhaust Grin but I love it! We had the car seat free with the deal from babies r us too so it was a bonus. Definetly recommend scouting which places do bundles/deals.

irregular that sounds like a lovely peaceful few hours! Enjoy! (I've ordered a couple of boden thermal mugs because my mate told me they keep hot drinks hot for hours, so by the time you've fed/changed/winded/fed/winded/walked the landing/changed baby...3 hours later and your tea is still drinking temperature Grin

Jan I have the Uppababy Vista and love it. Dead easy to manoeuvre and the carrycot bring approved for overnight sleeping has already proved incredibly useful.

We got ours plus carseat in a bundle from here www.discountbabyequip.co.uk/

Keep checking for offers as we got it all for £585 brand new.

Pinklily1 · 12/11/2016 18:30

Audrey, the mug idea is genius! I hadn't thought about that!!

Irregular, your trip to the hairdressers sound like bliss! My hair has started to fall out post birth Shock

Jan, we have the icandy Peach and its great. We also wanted a pram that can convert into a double, so we narrowed it down to the Peach and the Uppababy Vista. The Peach won for us as its ever so slightly narrower than the Vista. It was a close call though. I'd say go and try them out in the shops a few times before you buy them.

Hope everyone is well.

AudreyBradshaw · 12/11/2016 20:22

I've ordered these ones pink my sister takes one the same to the farm and will fill it at 9 am and it will still be hot at dinnertime. There's loads of colours on amazon (and they're a bit cheaper too).

We went for the apple 2 pear icandy jane. We were going to get the uppababy but it didn't fit in our boot!! We went to a mothercare parents to be event and got 10% discount and then got a maxicosi car seat and isofix at a mamas and papas parents to be event( much bigger discount) so all in £750 I think but we wanted one that would fit number two and fit in our polo!

Mileymoocow · 13/11/2016 10:40

irregular Grin I took advantage and had 2 hot cups of tea last week when I went to get my hair cut. Hope you enjoy it!

Sorry for selfish post but I'm a tad fragile today after getting up at half 3. Harrison has reflux, had an eye infection, an ear infection and now has thrush on his little bum and I can't help but blame myself. I feel awful that he's having to go through all these ailments. He's so small and really doesn't deserve it! Sad

Nevlet · 13/11/2016 11:35

Miley none of those things are your fault. I know exactly how it feels to blame yourself I still do for the extent to which Bodhi has been ill and that he may have effects of it for his whole life if tests next year show any scarring or lack of growth. But we have to remember it isn't our fault and that we do everything we can to protect them and fix them when they are poorly. Its awful luck for him to have all those things at once but they are all treatable and he will be back to normal in no time. And he is such a sweetie in his little pictures!

Does anyone else have a giant baby that has nearly outgrown their sleepyhead? I am thinking of buying the grand soon even though he isnt quite 3 months but that won't fit in the chicco...

BunchOfBobs · 13/11/2016 13:42

Miley of course it's not your fault. Don't blame yourself you're doing everything right to help him. Poor little mite, I hope it all clears up soon.

Nev Atticus had his undone due to his length weeks ago and is soon to be too wide. He likes to sleep with his arms out wide and he looks so daft bless him. Having been away from home without it the last two days and had him next to me in the bed I think he'll be okay in the cot without it, I'm going to try him tonight. I can't believe any baby makes it to 8 months in one!

Feefeefs · 13/11/2016 16:22

Awww poor Harrison miley! Not your fault in the slightest! Sounds rough though hope he feels better soon

Mileymoocow · 13/11/2016 17:51

Thank you ladies. I know they're easily treatable things I just feel so awful for him! nev you're doing brilliant with Bodhi, I'm sure he won't have any lasting effects. This is Harrison in his sleepyhead right now - he's 9 weeks tomorrow Confused no way he will still be in it in 6 months time!!

Thread 13. TTC #1 Grads. Some of us still remember that thing called "a full nights sleep" for most, it's a mere memory.
Mileymoocow · 13/11/2016 18:32

Oh and good luck tomorrow canters!!!

Sodasoda · 13/11/2016 21:08

Great to meet bunch and Atticus on Friday - hope you guys had a fab weekend in London and enjoyed the Harry Potter experience.

Miley I hope Harrison feels better and I hope you feel better about everything too. Obviously it's not your fault but us mums do have a habit of feeling guilty!

Alexa is back to her normal self post injections thankfully. She was really sleepy the day afterwards and slept through the whole night (slightly amazing but also worrying!) but was back to being cheerful and not sleeping on Saturday! Her little legs are definitely slightly swollen though Sad

Irregular having my hair done was completely blissful! I even had my hair washed in a massage chair - amazing!

Alexa is quite a small baby (25th centile) and I'd be surprised if she's still in her sleepyhead by 4 months - never mind 8! It's ridiculous that they say up to 8 months!

I went to a nearly new sale today which was fab. So many bargains! I bought a gorgeous little outfit which still had the labels on (and a 60 euro price tag!!!!) for £8. Also bought a bumbo chair for a tenner. I think the sales will definitely be really handy for toys later on too.

PotatosMum · 14/11/2016 05:47

Aww Indi lovely that autumn is smiling Smile

irregular glad you enjoyed the hair dressers and the hot tea! Smile

Miley none of Harrison's ailments are your fault and I'm sure they'll all be gone soon, stay strong Flowers

Soda the nearly new sail sounds great. I need to get to one.

Arya seems to have settled into a new sleep pattern of 10pm to 5am which is great although for some reason I seem to be more tired Confused

I've been working non-stop on Arya's advent calendar the past couple of days. Nearly finished now and it's looking really good Grin

OH is heading backwards to work today after a week off. It's been lovely having him home but I'm looking forward to having the house back so that I can do things in my own time again.

Does anyone fancy reviewing the sleepyhead for me? I never had one but I know a lot of you swear by them. Take a look at my blog (grumpymum.co.uk) to see the sort of thing I want. Smile

LisaTheSimpson · 14/11/2016 09:28

Nev - great news about Bodhi! I'm so glad it looks like everything is ok health-wise, and glad they're going to be keeping an eye on him just in case. You must be so relieved, and I'm sorry you've had such a hard time.

Bunch - so glad your HP trip went well, and the hats are awesome! Looks from Insta like A was fine and well-behaved on the train. What did he think about it all?

Hi Jam! I remember you from the TTC thread - hope everything is going well!

Indi - super impressed with the dream feed and dream nappy change! There's no way Quinn would let me do that. She has to scream the house down at every nappy change because we're apparently torturing her... Hmm Autumn sounds so chilled!

Agree about their smiles - they're like gold dust!

Stardrey - I remember you first taking about the assault when it first happened, and it sounded very much like the other guy's fault. I can't believe it's now escalated to criminal charges! Fingers crossed pressing charges against him works, and he drops his case. So sorry you're having to deal with this, you poor thing.

Miley - im not at 8 weeks yet (just over 6 weeks here), but have you seen the Wonder Weeks app or book? Apparently it's really accurate, and it does talk about a 'stormy' period around 8 weeks, I think. We've just gone through the 5-week one, and it was pretty accurate about it. Definitely recommend downloading the app - it helps me understand the developments she's going through.

Irregular - how did you manage the hairdressers?? Are you ff'ing, or bf'ing?

I really need my hair doing, but not sure how to go about it.

IrregularCommentary · 14/11/2016 12:53

I'm bf Lisa so had to express for dh to be able to feed her while I was out. My mum actually had her in the evening on Sat while we went out for dinner as well so had also expressed for that too.

Would thoroughly recommend it. Having a few hours to myself was absolute bliss! Was really great for dh to have quality alone time with her as well. I got home to them playing on the playmat - about melted!

marmitecheesetoast · 14/11/2016 17:57

I think I felt movement for the first time last night! Not 100% convinced but I think it was Indi who mentioned it felt like a kernel of popcorn popping? That's what I felt a few times, low down in my tummy!!

Awh gorgeous baby photos! Gorgeous smiley Autumn!

That sounds really frustrating about your hands Audrey is it stopping you from doing a lot?

Aww Miley poor wee Harrison. Must be so hard to see him suffer, not your fault at all though! Hope he feels better really soon.

Sounds like you had a lovely relaxing time at the hairdressers Irregular!

Sounds like Ayra's advent calendar is going to be fab Potato!

I'm feeling really quite achey and sore around my lower ribs today. Trying to think whether I could have done something at the weekend to injure myself and forgotten about it or whether it's preggo related Hmm pregnancy yoga will hopefully help ease it a bit tonight

AudreyBradshaw · 14/11/2016 18:36

Congratulations on movement marmite I was 23 weeks or so before I felt a definite wallop and it's lovely to realise what your feeling! I'm rubbish at everything at the minute, no feeling is really odd.

Advent calendar sou ds so lovely potato will you put some pictures up, I'd love to see it as a work in progress.

Poor Harrison and poor you miley don't beat yourself up, you are are wonderful Mammy.

lisa it's horrible and I've never been so mortified in my life. I'm trying to keep positive and be calm but I know it's going to rumble on for ages and I don't want it to colour the first hours, weeks, months of baby's life.

I've decided, I'm just going to kill him though. Who will be my alibi? The level of hysteria that's wafting off him, you can virtually taste it! I'm so not telling him when I'm in labour until I'm about to give birth. I know I'll end up sending him out of the room otherwise. We are in a cycle of him • not listening -> you never said that -> you're making my anxiety bad -> not being proactive -> I assume he's not listened so repeat -> you don't know what you're talking about. And begin again.

And he couldn't go to the gym = end of the world. Because he can't work out his stress, but as the world stands still and he doesn't answer the phone in the gym and we were waiting for a call back from the solicitor I told him not to go. Of course the solicitor never rang so then it's my fault he couldn't go to the gym. If he could be trusted to answer the phone while he's there it wouldn't be an issue. But three days last week, three different days, he didn't answer the phone in the gym so he clearly can't be trusted. So I'm just going to kill him, it's easier.

Lisa I'm bf and managed the hairdressers. I fed before I left then had a bottle expressed ready. OH took Harrison out for a walk as he usually sleeps in his pram so all was ok. I hated being away from him though Blush I have the wonder weeks app but you have to use their due date, not birth date but it seems to fit better with his birth date in!

audrey I think it'd best that your DH just does as he's told!

Sodasoda · 14/11/2016 20:10

Another one here bf who expressed to go to the hairdressers. I like how we've all got our priorities right Grin My mum was with Alexa and was nearby in case she needed to come and get me.

Audrey sorry you're going through this so late in your pregnancy.

Marmite yay for first movement! It's a really lovely stage.

Feefeefs · 14/11/2016 20:33

You'll have to post another picture of the advent calendar when it's done potato! I love the whole idea, I think I will wait till next year to make one for our baby but it's just such a lovely idea. My mum used to make one for us as children and I loved it.

The expressing sounds great irregular hope I am able to also, already worried about the hairdressers afterwards!! Blush

Hope things get clearer soon Audrey it sounds so lousy what you're going through. Having your baby will hopefully be a welcome distraction.

Evergreen17 · 14/11/2016 23:08

Oh my!!! I lost the thread for so long that I gave up but I am back!!!!! SmileGrinSmileGrinSmile
27 weeks and just want the baby already
And to sleep

AudreyBradshaw · 14/11/2016 23:09

Ha ha ha ha ha ha. We joked earlier that things couldn't get any worse. Now find out that dh's old boss, who had said he'd pay for legal representation clearly didn't expect to have to pay the solicitor/thought it would be NFA'd before he had to pay. Because now he's decided he's not. So, our options include paying a fortune for a solicitor (if dh is allowed to keep badge/keep working. Or praying we qualify for legal aid if he gets the sack. I need a cigarette and a glass of wine.
