Question: Are any of you starting to modify your physical exercise yet? I was thinking no need until a discernible bump appears, but did Pilates today and really struggled with back raises as it means laying on my front and squishing my sore boobies! I didn't really want to say anything to my gym instructors as I don't want them to single me out for different exercises in front of everyone, but equally I don't just want to give up all my classes either.

CatRash · 20/11/2016 20:44

Thanks everyone!! Time to buy some bras I think!! I didn't even realise you could buy from Asda online either!

Ctupp · 20/11/2016 21:18

BeckyNW before finding out I was pregnant I used to do a lot of weight lifting and pretty intense cardio (spin classes etc) but I've been a little too nervous to go since getting my bfp. I know they say if your body is used to it you can carry on but I'm still scared!! I would say Pilates would be the best thing to do but hadn't thought about the exercises where you lie on your front! A subtle convo with your instructor before the class would do it I would think? She can give you some alternatives you can do instead? Better than giving up something that is probably really good for you!

CatRash · 20/11/2016 21:34

Ok, strange question has anyone else developed a 'ridge'. In that triangle between just below your belly and v-jayjay - about an inch or two below my belly a horizontal ridge has appeared?! I can see it from the front (as there's a shadow under it) and from the side. I noticed it this morning after I showered and just now when i got undressed for bed. I'm only 4+6 so far to early to show.

Just wondering if this was normal or not?!?

em165 · 20/11/2016 21:36

BeckyNW, I didn't do any exercise at all when I was pregnant last time and really regretted it. So far this time I've carried on running 5k twice a week. I have found myself struggling way more than usual whilst doing it though! I'm just trying to make sure I don't push myself too far. I doubt i'll carry on doing it when/if the proper exhaustion kicks in... i'll be prioritising sleep instead!

whyistherumgone · 20/11/2016 21:37

Becky I was previously doing the 30 day shred, Pilates and running but have been too nervous to exercise since I found out which I know is stupid.

I now feel like a giant disgusting blob already though so going to chat to my midwife at my
appointment on Friday.

LetMeHaveABloodyName · 21/11/2016 07:54

Hi all, can I join? EDD is 30th July. DC1 is 14 months. Found out I was pregnant this morning Grin partner is in work and I'm off with DS today so I think I'll cook a meal & tell him later. It's early days (I'm 4 weeks 1 day according to my calculations) but I'm excited.
We only have sex once a month so tbh I'm surprised it even happened 😂 I know the exact date of conception which is a little weird as DS was a 'surprise'.
How is everyone feeling? Any more late Julys here?

Knittinggurl · 21/11/2016 08:02

Hello all, I had a viability scan on Friday - it was super early at 7+1 but apparently my dates are a bit out and actually It was 6+5! So think I was lucky to see anything. There is an embryo in there (just the one!) and it is not in the tubes so I was relieved about that. Saw the heartbeat which was 146 bpm. Anyone know whether that's normal? The doctors seemed to think all was ok for the moment. I have Harmony and another scan (as it's a package) at 10+4. So that's the next milestone to aim to reach. The embryo didn't look much like a baby! But was reassured that there's something in there and it's not my imagination! And amazed to see a heartbeat.

purplebella · 21/11/2016 08:56

Aw congrats knitting must have been amazing to see it!

LetMeHaveABloodyName · 21/11/2016 09:25

Congrats knitting I had an early scan with DS and debating whether or not to go for one next month with this pregnancy. I probably will as I'm such a worrier!

Sasspop · 21/11/2016 10:30

Hi becky, I have modified my exercise a lot as I'm afraid to do too much.. I've started incline walking instead of running and much lighter weights.. I've put off going to body balance as the instructer always asks if anyone is pregnant and I feel it's too early to say yes! If continuing Pilates you need to tell the instructer your pregnant so certain exercises can be modified x

whyistherumgone · 21/11/2016 11:19

Congrats knitting! That must be reassuring. There's still part of me that expects to roll up to the scan only for them to say 'nope, nothing in there!'.

6 weeks tomorrow and still not many symptoms..my bloating seems to have calmed down a little but not even an inkling of sickness. Stupid, but it makes me worry. Wait, EVERYTHING makes me worry!

I hope the next four weeks go really quickly, our ten week scan is the first milestone for me.

How's everyone feeling today?

suntraveller · 21/11/2016 11:29

rum I'm happy to see your post I was beginning to think it was just me with not many symptoms, I was starting to feel left out Grin I'm a week behind you so it's reassuring to hear I'm not alone

whyistherumgone · 21/11/2016 11:40

Hey sun you're definitely not alone! I've got the sore boobs and tiredness and mild insomnia - although last night was better. Did have some bloating but seems to have eased off a bit although to be honest I've been eating less as I haven't been hungry.

But no hardcore symptoms - boobs are disappointingly the same size and no sickness at all. I know I should count myself lucky but I'm feeling left out too! Grin

We can feel left out together!

tatatetelle · 21/11/2016 16:45

Hey everyone, I've been doing some reading on Harmony and wondering how many here are planning to do it / not do it? Is it much better than what you get on NHS you think?

I have a scan on Thursday (6 weeks 5 days) so will ask the Dr also if anyone else is interested.

Thanks!

Miami81 · 21/11/2016 16:48

Sun and rum. I am 7 wks tomorrow and really wish I felt it more........ I have disturbed sleep, yesterday I felt rotten, but ok again today.
I looked it up at lunch today - and there are around 7 different categories of morning sickness, ranging from very mild to severe. It was reassuring to see it all written down. Basically very mild - you feel a small bit squiffy maybe but are able to ignore it. Some strong smells put you off and you can be a bit funny about food. Which pretty much describes me.
Is anyone else finding themselves avoiding cold food? Like salad leaves and things like that? I am living on soup.
Might have a baked potato this evening. DH is away so I can have what I want. Maybe a fish finger sandwich.........

mummycaitlin · 21/11/2016 17:53

miami with DC1 I completely went off salad, I literally couldn't chew and swallow it!

I had a pretty symptom-free weekend but today back at work I kept getting waves of nausea again. One of my colleagues (who I had to tell for health and safety reasons) told me I looked 'glowing' today, I seriously thought she was joking!

Do people think that the harmony tests are more beneficial for those over a certain age or of a certain risk bracket?

whyistherumgone · 21/11/2016 18:08

that's really helpful Miami thank you.
I'm tempted by harmony - the FMC are doing an offer with early viability, harmony and 12 week nuchal scan for £450 but I'm not sure if that's silly as surely the NHS one must be pretty accurate? Has anyone had Harmony before who can say whether they found it better?

Popularcontrarian · 21/11/2016 18:29

Hello everyone, hope the symptoms aren't too rough for any of you.

I'm 6 weeks today and feel like a badger's arse; Quite tired, terrible wind/reflux and on the verge of barfing half the time, but haven't vommed yet Grin

I've my booking-in appointment for 2nd Dec which I'm quite excited about as I think I'll get a dating scan the same day. The meanies in EPU wouldn't see me in the end because I've only had one mc. To be honest I'm so busy lately that even an appointment in the EPU would take too much of my time so I'm happy to hold out til the 2nd.

Speaking of salad, did anyone hear about how they're a high risk for salmonella and listeria? I was quite relaxed about avoiding deli meats etc with DS but I think I might give bagged salads and beansprouts a wide birth for the next 33/34 weeks.

Here's an article on it for those interested:

Popularcontrarian · 21/11/2016 18:37

*wide berth not birth!!!! freudian slip there

whyistherumgone · 21/11/2016 19:00

I hadn't heard that Popular - I eat a lot of bagged spinach, wonder if I should stop :-/
Sorry to hear you feel so rough, I'm six weeks tomorrow and so far feel OK which I'm finding weirdly worrying, although I have had a smattering of milder symptoms. Have to keep reminding myself that everyone is different and I've had friends who've experienced both extremes.

Hope you start feeling better soon!

Popularcontrarian · 21/11/2016 19:03

It's a toughie rum, because the overall likelihood of getting salmonella is probably quite low and spinach is so good for you at the same time!

Cooking it would be fine though

Lallypopstick · 21/11/2016 19:07

Knitting exciting on the scan. Sounds like a good heartbeat to me (isn't it about twice what ours is?)

Can I ask if your scan was internal at that stage? I have mine in 10 days (I'll be 7+5) and need to be prepared in case they need to put something up somewhere! (I'd wear a skirt if that's a possibility)

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 21/11/2016 19:18

I did read the bagged salad thing but I think I'll stick to washing it and hoping for the best, I get through a lot of spinach and it's the only salad I can stomach at the moment so better not give it up!

Reassured to read the 7 types of morning sickness, I'm definitely getting mild waves of naseua but nothing more. The idea that lots of vomiting is a good pregnancy symptom and worrying when its not there is totally bizarre and not something I expected!

New weird symptoms today, major itchy scalp and dry skin that is driving me slightly mad.

whyistherumgone · 21/11/2016 19:24

It's mad how much worry actually feeling WELL can cause isn't it thumbsup? I did NOT expect to be this anxious about pretty much everything. Going to speak to my m/w about it at my appointment and hope it's reassuring.

Yeah, I think I will stick to cooking the spinach because it is so good for you and although I'm not sick there are a lot of things I usually eat that I just don't fancy any more - eggs being one of them - so I'm trying to get as balanced a diet as possible.

I hadn't noticed until you guys mentioned it but I've actually gone off salad to....
