Any joiners?

This will be dc2. Edd of July 2nd.

Not one symptom yet. Going to enjoy that and hope it lasts!

The online calculators are very much a guide as a lot of us don't have 28 day cycles and don't know how long they are. The MW will assume 28 days and book you in for a scan based upon that. Your dating scan will give you a more accurate due date. If this is wildly out, you might need another scan for the NT test.

Congrats newbies.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend and being 8 weeks pregnant as that feels like our odds are good.

CatRash · 16/11/2016 16:53

Thank you whysalltherumgone - that'll make my due date the 24th July then. This might sound dumb - bear with me it's my first after all - but when someone says they're 5+1 for example does that mean five weeks and 1 day since the start of their last period?

Im so bloated today I feel like I'm a giant fart :(

CatRash · 16/11/2016 16:55

Hey Monal, we can be baby buddies (for the time being at least)!

Thanks Ooh and congratulations to you too! I'd love to be at the 8 week mark just to have that same piece of mind!

LuciBee231015 · 16/11/2016 17:07

Thanks whyistherumgone!

I'm 7+4 today. Will be 8+1 on Sunday when I have the early scan.

As far as symptoms go, boobs have really gone down and not hurting much anymore apart from the odd shooting pain, have had nausea everyday for a week now and that's it!

whyistherumgone · 16/11/2016 18:06

Ah Ooh I'm a little jealous that you're nearly at the 8 week mark, I feel like that's the first proper milestone for some reason - at the moment it still doesn't feel real. DH and I aren't even talking about it that much, it's like this huge thing has happened but everything is pretty much the same, so hard to get to grips with the fact it's really happening.

Yes cat - so 5+1 is 5 weeks and one day :) There are lots of apps you can get where you put it the date of your last period then it updates you each day with how far along you are and what to expect.

Luci it's strange isn't it, not having many symptoms - I feel different, but not in any particular way. I guess nausea/sickness is the one!

crombanna · 16/11/2016 18:34

rum my husband and I are exactly the same. Just kind of pretending it's not happening. Not in a bad way. But i don't want to get obsessed about it anyway. Been so busy at work recently that I haven't thought about it much which I think is quite healthy at this stage...

I've done a total 180 re: scans and have decided to get one at 10 weeks just before Christmas. Still can't really afford it but hey. Without sounding like an absolute lush, if it's not going to work out, i want to have a drink at Christmas and dance my heart out on NYE.

I agree with others that 8 weeks seems solidly pregnant!

Welcome to all new joiners!

whyistherumgone · 16/11/2016 18:46

ah crombanna that does make me feel a bit better - I felt a bit bad last night, like we should be much happier and talking about all the details etc but that in itself seems like we'd be getting ahead of ourselves.
What scans are you going to go for? I'm thinking about an eight or ten week at FML - a viability scan - which is around £99.

crombanna · 16/11/2016 19:03

I totally agree. I don't believe in tempting fate - good and bad things happen regardless - but I think I'm setting myself up for problems if I start picking out names or planning the nursery (out loud. I'm not saying I haven't been daydreaming!!)

Ill go for a 10 week viability or early scan. Not sure what it's called. By 10 weeks you'll definitely see what you need to see and it will be more baby-like than blobby.

fluffandsnuff · 16/11/2016 20:12

Still blummin waiting for the MW to tell me when they are going to turn up. Rang the surgery today to check the referral had been made as my docs appointment happened 10 days ago and they told me to ring back in 10 days or so if they haven't made contact. Not so bothered about seeing MW but wanted to have an idea about scan dates as I think it's the week between Christmas and new year for me.
I'm not being crazy am I? 10 days is a long time to not hear anything right?

TiltedNewt · 16/11/2016 20:12

Hi all, can I join? DC2 due 21st July.

A bit of a surprise. DS is only 10 months. I'm panicking slightly. Waiting for it all to sink in.

purplebella · 16/11/2016 20:14

Good luck to anyone who has a scan soon🍀
I thought I was going to mc last night as had a burny feeling on my left hand side but no bleeding. I took another hpt this afternoon and was a nice dark line so I'm a bit more reassured now

whyistherumgone · 16/11/2016 20:22

fluff I have no idea what's standard although I've heard it depends on where you live. But that would be an annoying wait for me! I think my 12 weeks will fall first week of January and I'm still super keeno to find out the dates.

Hi tilted congrats - I can imagine that was quite a shock! Hope things go well for you.

Purple so pleased everything's ok. I panicked earlier as had some pains but then realised I am really bloated and it's probably wind! Blush

BrioLover · 16/11/2016 20:53

Lovely to see all the new joiners!

I've been blighted by a hacking dry cough. Was told by the pharmacy that I can't take anything except a v basic cough syrup and that I shouldn't waste my money on that and just make honey and lemon drinks. Bah.

whyistherumgone · 16/11/2016 21:06

oh brio that's rubbish. Is there a health food shop near you? Wedderspoons Manuka honey and ginger lozenges are surprisingly effective (I was skeptical) - the doctor said they were OK to use. I will see if I can find a link as Amazon sell them too and they completely coat your throat to soothe and stop the cough.

purplebella · 16/11/2016 21:17

It is scary when you don't know what's happening isn't it rum (that's the best bit of your name so I'll shorten it to that!)?
I won't have any early scans though as I should be okay, never had any problems before. My pg vits also seem to be keeping any nasty bugs away too for now

whyistherumgone · 16/11/2016 21:26

yes it's my first time as well and an suddenly noticing every little twinge!

ah what I wouldn't give for a rum and ginger now.

Good to hear you are in good shape - I've started taking pregnacare so I hope that they will keep the bugs at bay!

BrioLover · 16/11/2016 23:47

Rum I've not heard of those - thank you. There is a Holland & Barrett on my way back from my ante natal appointment tomorrow so I'll pop in. We have a massive Boots too so they might even stock them.

thenailgirl · 17/11/2016 00:39

Hello :) EDD 14/7/17 this will be my fourth Shock and was a scary surprise! I'm feeling a bit calmer now that the surprise element has gone lol. I have a 10, 8, (boys) and 1 yr old (girl) x

Sewingbeatshousework · 17/11/2016 02:26

Tilted it must be a shock to the system! My Mum had my sister end july one year, and at the beginning of August the following year had my twin brothers so there's less than 13 months between them (not to mention I was only 3 when they were born!).

Apparently it wasn't too scary 😊

Lallypopstick · 17/11/2016 10:01

Hello guys, I've been lurking but now I've decided to sign up. I'm 5+5 at the moment. Due date is 15/07/17.

I've booked a scan for 1st December, so I'll be 7+5 then. Hoping to see a tiny heartbeat so I can relax a bit. Just wanted some reassurance before Christmas, so I can tell people who can cover up my lack of drinking.

Rang my GP, and they run a midwife clinic which you book into between 8 and 10 weeks. So I'll have had my scan before I've seen anyone official. In the meantime, I keep POAS - clearblue digital with weeks, which I know isn't great but it's just once a week rather than three times a day just after I found out!

CatRash · 17/11/2016 10:15

Morning all - hope everyone is feeling fab today!

Thanks Rum I've downloaded an app called Pregnancy+ which looks quite good and seems very informative. Anyone got an suggestions for other apps?

whyistherumgone · 17/11/2016 10:17

Hello lally congrats!
Great you've booked a scan - I'm still thinking about booking mine at ten weeks as that will be just before Christmas.

I've been resisting the urge to keep testing so far - I did six tests to start with as I didn't believe it and have a few spare clear blue digitals but know if I start I might drive myself mad - I completely understand the temptation though and reckon come next week I will be doing the same! It feels like such a long time to wait without anything happening doesn't it?

whyistherumgone · 17/11/2016 10:23

I have the same one Cat it seems to give enough to make me feel like things are happening but not so much it makes me worry!

Feeling a bit more relaxed today though had a chat with DH last night and he quite rightly pointed out that me being worried is going to make no difference to the outcome at all, we just have to let nature take its course. Easier said than done, especially when it's your body, but it has made me feel a bit more relaxed.

5+2 today still no sickness or nausea (trying to enjoy this fact!) but my emotions are all over the place.

Hope everyone is good today!

suntraveller · 17/11/2016 10:43

Morning, I got the Babycentre app. cat looks like we're both due at the same time, July 24th, besides needing to pee more,no other signs yet.

Lallypopstick · 17/11/2016 10:44

catrash - in keeping with my OTT approach I have three apps. Ovia, Glo Nurture and the babycentre one. I dislike that the first two are Americanised, so a lot of the info is irrelevant, but I do like the daily baby facts on both. And Glo has a daily picture of what is currently a tiny alien / dinosaur hybrid.

I'm with you on the lack of sickness rum - I have some symptoms and occasionally feeling a bit sick, but honestly it feels like nerves to me rather than nausea. Though from what I've read, 6 weeks onwards is when morning sickness really kicks in.
