Did anyone else's doctor not refer them to a midwife yet? It's really worried me. I'm sure it's probably just because I have another early scan in 9 days but it made me think there's something on the first scan that worried them!

Littlemisssugarplum88 · 06/11/2016 12:44

I went to the doctor about something different and mentioned that I'd recently found out that I'm pregnant but she wasn't interested, she just told me to contact the community midwifes xx

BakerJ · 06/11/2016 14:16

Thanks all, perhaps I'll give the surgery a call next week or something and just see what they recommend then.
Hope all goes well with your early scan seahawk x

DamsonGinIsMyThing · 06/11/2016 14:53

Afternoon all.
Just had a long read and catch up from the last few days as ive been on night shifts.
Nightshifts + hormones + nausea = a fucking crappy time.
However I've got a week off, during which I intend to scour the city finding a bra my stupidly big boobs can fit it which doesn't cost the same as my mortgage. Either that or I'm gonna get some gaffer tape and tape them down cos every little jiggle is bloody painful. Had to tell DP off for attempting to motorboat them this morning Grin

FiFiP89 · 06/11/2016 16:37

Feeling overwhelmingly tired atm, not helped by needing to read some very dry psychology papers! Is anyone else feeling ridiculously tired? I am getting enough sleep by normal standards but have had 2 naps today and still struggling....

Kitsandkids · 06/11/2016 16:52

I'm getting tired too Fifi. I like to take my foster kids out at the weekends but I've been exhausted the last couple of days. I did drag myself out for a few hours last night to take them to a fireworks display but today, apart from making Sunday dinner, I've pretty much just been napping on the sofa. Poor kids have had an insane amount of screen time (not that they mind!).

fluffandsnuff · 06/11/2016 17:17

I'm exhausted. But mostly because DS had me up since 4.30 this morning 💤

Glitterbandit · 06/11/2016 18:13

Yep, I was in bed at nine last night and out like a light!

rhodes2015 · 06/11/2016 18:18

Me too fifi, I napped at about 2pm today for an hour despite having a good sleep last night!

Popularcontrarian · 06/11/2016 19:17

Fluff this is what I fear most about this pregnancy. How the hell am I going to cope with early morning wakings and manage pregnancy tiredness at the same time?! Flowersfor you

FiFiP89 · 06/11/2016 20:45

I don't know about you all but I think the mental side of it is exhausting as well, trying to understand what is happening with your body and manage expectations about what the future could be. Complete hats off to Fluff and those of you who have families already to manage this around, I am just about looking after my dog at the moment! What are thoughts on the early scans? I'm taking it that these need to be private, unless there is a medical concern re. viability? I think I'm just searching for some signs of what is going on , I saw the doctor on Thursday who seemed very non-plussed and left my details for the midwife but yet to have a call back. I know from a rational perspective that this is all natural and very normal for women to go through but I suppose to me it feels like such a big deal you expect the world to think it too!

Sunshineeyes · 06/11/2016 20:54

Hi all.
Was home in Ireland for the weekend so I could tell my parents. All went well. I am struggling though with terrible motion sickness every time I drive or am driven. DH had to keep pulling over for me to puke, eventually I just puked into my scarf. It only seems to happen when I eat.
My only worry is that I am back to work tomorrow and my job is a field based driving job and my area is 50 miles from where I Live and extends for another 70 beyond that! I am absolutely knackered and my boobs are sore but other than that all is good.
Doc told me she could give me something for nausea so perhaps I should go and get it. I'm terrified to call sick as my boss is not particularly nice and certainly doesn't get these things as she never wanted kids.
Hope you guys are all ok. Smile

crombanna · 06/11/2016 21:01

Women typically have only two scans in pregnancy, the dating scan and the anomaly scan. Early pregnancy scans are sometimes offered in cases where a woman has bleeding , excessive pain or if there are doubts about whether the pregnancy is in the right place (ie is it ectopic). Youre right that without an indication they are not offered for free. It seems a crazy long time to wait though doesn't it? I expect I might splurge on an early scan around 8-9 weeks (if all continues to go well).

I don't feel pregnant at all today and am tempted to do another cheeky test, but that way madness lies.

Damson my boobs are sore but don't seem to be any bigger! I was hoping for a decent pair of jugs for once in my life (normally flat as a pancake).

Seahawk80 · 06/11/2016 21:16

Crombanna I felt like that earlier but am now freezing cold and feeling sick. I seem to be suffering from evening sickness - was the same yesterday!

I'm getting an early scan in 8 days as I'm still spotting. I'm lucky that there is a very good epu near me. If I wasn't having one there I'd be booking a private scan but then I'm the most impatient person in the world!

FiFiP89 · 07/11/2016 10:12

Very new to the mums net lingo - what does the 5+1 or 4+4 etc mean?

Popularcontrarian · 07/11/2016 10:26

5+1 means 5 weeks pregnant plus one day. 4+4 means four weeks pregnant plus 4 days. It's all very precise!
As I haven't had a period since my MC I'm going to ask to be referred to the early pregnancy unit for a dating scan. I'd say I'll get one but it'll be a bit of a wait as I won't get to the doctor until next week. Feels so long away!

FiFiP89 · 07/11/2016 10:46

Thanks popularcontrarion! I feel as though time hasn't moved this slowly since I was about 8 years old! Good luck with a speedy scan! Grin

OohNoDooEy · 07/11/2016 10:59

Luci your scan date is ideal for me! I have my works Christmas party on the 16th and it would be great to not have to lie.

fluffandsnuff · 07/11/2016 12:41

Thanks Popular- survived it ok!

Crombanna- I bought another one today, then got back to the car with DS and was v queasy (def put a plastic bag or bucket in the passenger seat of your car ladies, I speak from experience 😖

Every time I retched DS (age 2) said "Bless you Mummy"!

Needless to say, the now unneeded test was positive.

LuciBee231015 · 07/11/2016 12:49

15th is pretty good date for the scan, I have my Xmas party the week after.

I have been gagging quite a bit at things but not been sick yet... 6+2 today so there's still time for it to kick in!

Commuting on the train on Friday for an all day meeting...dreading it. I'm booked for flu jab on Thursday morning at boots as well so hopefully I don't feel rough on Friday 😳

Fluff After your sausage sandwich cravings on Friday, all I have wanted is sausages since. I had 5 sausages over the weekend; not all in one go mind. I am constantly hungry and my new craving is Bombay potatoes. I want them really stodgy with lots of tinned tomatoes and fried onions mixed in. Yes, my cravings are going into so much detail.

Seahawk No spotting here but I have read that it is really common and pregnancies continue to full term. Hopefully your scan will show that all is well and that it was just a small pocket of blood way away from baby. FX

Thumbsup Hope you are having a better day today following the rubbish Friday.

Luci Yeh for the scan and blood test letter! Finally something for you to look forward to.

Penny I was in also in a queue of pensioners for the flu jab but I was there because I have suffered from asthma since I got cats (now adopted by local farmer) 3 years ago. I can imagine a whole bunch other vulnerable groups that get it apart from the oldies.

Popular Welcome to the thread. I also has a miscarriage in September and we got this bfp before my period kicked in. Definitely excited but apprehensive is the right description. FX for sticky beans this time.

Damson Gaffer tapeGrin. Rather disappointed here, boobs are sore but not bigger. I was looking forward to bigger boobs.

Baker I wasn’t planning on registering for midwife until after 6 wks but I had a few questions for gp with regards to my last mc; then he passed my details on to the midwife. I have still not had any contact from the midwife but I will start to worry about it at about 8/9 wks if no further contact.

I have just had a scan (dildo cam – more comfortable than I had imagined) at our local EPU. Everything was there. The gestational sac, yolk sac and embryo. You could also see the heart beat (small white dot) flickering on the screen. It was measured at 2.4m. 5+1 now which has changed my EDD to 9/07/2017. I thought I was at 6wks today but the sonographer said because of the small measurements, it will be more accurate at the 12 week scan so the EDD might change again to earlier in July 2017. For now, all is well. I am still debating on whether to get a private scan at about 8/9 weeks purely for re-assurance.

We hope to tell PIL anytime from today, maybe over the weekend when DH will be around too. Last time we wanted to tell them on their wedding anniversary but I then started to bleed that morning; talk about a dark cloud over their special day. This time we are determined to tell them the good news while we know all is well. It should give them something to celebrate but also give us support if things don’t go well this time. I think we might also tell SIL as she has gone through the same; she understands the apprehension of a pregnancy after a mc.

As for symptoms, nausea has definitely kicked in. It was really bad over the weekend in the afternoons but today it started in the morning. DH has made me a salmon fillet which I hope to have with salad later on. It is amazing how you can feel so hungry and not want to eat at the same time.

hellsbellsmrsbell · 07/11/2016 14:10

Hi all, can I join you pleaseGrin
4+3 Weeks, EDD14/07/2017
This will be DC 3
I already have 21 month old identical twin boys. Who were conceived by IVF. After 4 years of trying and 2 miscarriages. And then another miscarriage in March this year. So this pregnancy is quite the miracle. Just keeping everything crossed that this one sticks and all is well.

Popularcontrarian · 07/11/2016 14:49

Thanks for the due date list notyetthere. It's nice to know someone else is going through similar after mc. I'm actually in shock that my body is so fertile.

I know most will give up caffeine while pregnant but I cannot give up my morning cappuccino just yet...but I may have to soon as it gave me reflux this morning! and I'm only 4 weeks! I had THE WORST reflux last time, I was on both Zantac and Losec, couldn't even look at a cup of tea or coffee from about 10 weeks and was absolutely miserable by the end of it. Didn't stop me scoffing my face the whole nine months though Blush

Popularcontrarian · 07/11/2016 14:53

Hellsbells, that's lovely that you conceived naturally after having done IVF previously. Fx this is a very sticky one for you

hellsbellsmrsbell · 07/11/2016 15:07

Thanks Popular. It's amazing we've been trying but wasn't expecting it iyswim.
