Thanks london. I am just having a wobble at having two pushchairs at the moment lol. It is the right thing and we could get a refund on the other one as we haven't even had the delivery yet!!! Mum just called and her friend is going to drop it round to hers tomorrow I think so I can go and have a look. My friend said I could sell it probably for more on eBay or gumtree after we have used it anyway!!

Shellbell0403 · 14/09/2016 17:03

diva we are going to have a pram here and my mums going to have one also!! Plus it's a bargain!!

I am only finishing in December because I have so may holidays left to take, remainder of this year's and need to take next year's holidays before also so works out perfect then my mat leave starts on the 13th Feb!

Ps White chocolate has no caffeine!! Woohoo!!

london I think wispaxmas is an owner and a fan of the bugaboo bee 😊

user1471550616 · 14/09/2016 17:29

Does anyone know how I change my username? Smile

user1471550616 · 14/09/2016 17:31

I plan to finish work at 36 weeks and take some annual leave then starting my mat leave at 39 weeks. I really want to take a full year off and not have to go back before Christmas!!

divadee · 14/09/2016 17:39

Thanks shell excited to see it now. I have no idea which one it is or what colour etc...

Readyfortwo · 14/09/2016 19:25

I'm going to be working up to my due date too. Will prob use holiday to phase down gradually working part time from xmas. I finished at 39 weeks last time and DS was over 2 weeks late so was going crazy by that point. Told my colleagues that I'd rather go into labour at work than risk sitting around at home for 3 weeks waiting for a baby to come!

I would recommend buying anything that gets imported this year as prices will rise significantly thanks to current fx rates (a lot of businesses are absorbing it this year but will have to start passing on the costs as its not sustainable). I'm think the fx rate change alone equates to around +18% price increase, then you've got whatever the manufacturer's cost increases are on top of that!

Just had a private scan and found out we are having a.....boy!!!!! StarStarGrinGrin

Sparrowlegs248 · 14/09/2016 19:39

Congratulations sparkles! Boys are the best, at least Ds 1 is. Biased

Still undecided whether to find out, didn't with ds. Scan next week.

Anyone else due Feb 2nd? I work for the Local Authority and our offices close down from Xmas eve to 3Rd Jan. Last time I started maternity leave on 20th of July and had ds on 24th...... However, I had been signed off sick from weeks 32-36 so had had a good break. And actually, at the moment I am finding my predominantly desk based job easier than my days off! I am exhausted after a day looking after ds, he does not stop!

Sorry to hear of all the commuting woes, I am thankful for living and working in the countryside! I drive 6 miles to work. (no trains, occasional bus......)

Shellbell0403 · 14/09/2016 19:45

Congrats sparkles 💙

Evergreen17 · 14/09/2016 19:48

Nottalot can you tell me a bit more of this being signed off sick?
A colleague mentioned and said not to take mat leave too early as they might sign me off sick anyway but not sure what she meant

divadee · 14/09/2016 20:02

Congrats sparkles some more boys evening up the girls now!!!

LondonGirl83 · 14/09/2016 20:06

Congrats sparkles!

Shellbell0403 · 14/09/2016 20:14

ever if u go off sick within a certain time of being due, they can make u start ur mat leave early! Think if it's within 4 weeks of ur finishing date..

BoomKapow · 14/09/2016 20:16

nottalotta I'm due on 2nd Feb! My office also closes for Christmas. I'm planning on going back 4 days a week for 3 weeks and leaving on annual leave on 20th Jan with mat leave stating on due date. Obviously that is totally best case scenario!

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow which I'm a little nervous about. Then we're going to visit a nursery which I think will really bring it home that we're going to have a baby! Currently I'm in denial. Is anyone else scanning tomorrow?

GinIsIn · 14/09/2016 20:46

Ever - where are you commuting from/to? Worried now!

BabyD123 · 14/09/2016 20:47

Yes if you go off sick 4 weeks prior to your expected due date then your employer can start your mat leave automatically.

Has everyone been advised to get the whooping cough vaccine and the flu vaccine?

BabyD123 · 14/09/2016 20:50

user1471550616 if you go to your profile and overwrite where the default user name is and then save that should do it

LondonGirl83 · 14/09/2016 20:54

Babyd I have. My GP wrote me to come in next month

Shellbell0403 · 14/09/2016 21:09

babyd i am going on Friday to get mine 🙈 someone said it was sore! Haha

Ragdollmum1985 · 14/09/2016 21:38

Thanks Babyd123! My midwife told me I should make an appointment with the GP for whooping cough vaccine but not sure when i need to do this. My work automatically start mat leave if you are off sick for longer than 4 days in a row in the last 4 weeks.

CinderellaFant · 14/09/2016 21:46

I have an appointment to get my whooping cough injection tomorrow! I'll let you know how bad it is Confused

SBSparkles · 14/09/2016 21:47

Ahhh am I being crazy? My mother in law is in NYC next week and is going to buy our baby clothes that you can't get in the UK. She has a habit of taking over and I'm worried she'll buy loads of clothes and that I won't like them and I know it sounds weird but I want to dress my baby!! My husband says I'm being possessive and ungrateful?! Maybe I'm a little resentful as my parents aren't alive and they can't do the same as id be happy for my mum to buy stuff - but then she never took over.

CeeCeeEnnEss · 14/09/2016 21:47

20 week scan went perfectly, baby is lovely and healthy so a huge relief.

And we weren't going to find out... but we did... and it's a girl!

SBSparkles · 14/09/2016 21:48

Congrats Ceecee x
