Hi, thought I would start a new thread as the other one was full.

Congratulations! This thread is getting exciting now! 38 +2 for me

Womenareliketeabags · 06/09/2016 14:24

ust returned from my appointment with consultant to discuss induction (I've refused induction at 12 days over but agreed for 14 days over) she offered me a sweep whilst I was there and I'm 2cm dilated and 50% effaced. She thinks it's really really likely that I'll go into labour by myself before I need to be induced. I'm in absolute agony now with hideous hideous period pains since this, she has obviously given it a really good poke about.

Fingers crossed it works.

(Sorry to those also following the late pregnancy misery loves company thread too, I've just copy and pasted!)

Womenareliketeabags · 06/09/2016 14:24

Should say just.

Aceberry · 06/09/2016 17:07

When are you due woman? I've asked for a sweep on my due date and the policy for my health board is only to do one at 41 weeks

Womenareliketeabags · 06/09/2016 18:04

My due date was Sunday so I'm now 40+2. My midwife was going to give me a sweep on Friday (40+5) but I had appointment with consultant today and she offered me one. I was surprised as I wasn't expecting it!

Aceberry · 06/09/2016 18:58

woman that's exciting - my two previous labours started with a sweep! Good luck Grin

Womenareliketeabags · 06/09/2016 19:20

Thanks. I really really hope it works. I've got everything crossed!

Bobbycatz · 07/09/2016 07:10

How are you feeling woman any progress?

How are all the newborns getting on?

Today is my last day at work and I'm so glad. Woo hoo!

Womenareliketeabags · 07/09/2016 07:51

Still nothing really here. Just more crampy uncomfortable tummy. Sweeps can take up to 48 hours to work. So I'm trying not to totally lose the faith.

balalalala · 08/09/2016 21:54

Congrats, what a gorgeous little boy.

We're getting on just fine, can't believe she's 9 days old. Stitches still very painful and a couple of cases of baby blues but she's just lovely. Nearly back up to her birth weight so hopefully signed off from the midwife tomorrow!

Misshyip · 09/09/2016 16:36

Wow I managed to find you guys!
Congratulations to all the mummies and new babies who've already made an appearance, so jealous!

It's our due date today 9/9 and she's stubbornly staying put!

We found out that she was breech at 39 weeks (!) and had to go for an ECV which was an ordeal. It took them 3 attempts to get her around and it was so painful I thought i was going to be sick halfway through. At least she turned round and is still head down now though!

I've been looking into moxacombustion (sp?) for breech babies, although it was too late for me, if anyone has some weeks to go and is breech, its worth looking into.
Also, I went for a colostrum harvesting workshop recently and the MW there gave us 5 syringes and told us we could express 2 or 3 times in 24hrs into one syringe and then freeze it. I'm on my 3rd syringe and it seems to be getting easier and slightly more than the first time I tried. I seem to get more coming out of the right boob, but that might just be because I'm right handed and my grip is therefore better?

I'm going to give my little one a week before going for some acupuncture or acupressure to induce labour!

Good luck all!
Loving all the photos of new babies

Alibaba123456 · 12/09/2016 15:22

Hi all- long time lurker here. Am nearly 39 weeks with third baby. Hoping for home VBA . This thread has gone super quiet- are all the babies staying put it has everyone already popped??! I am currently in the v irritable stage and my family are steering well clear!!

Alibaba123456 · 12/09/2016 15:23

Oops should say VBAC

0hCrepe · 12/09/2016 16:26

Hi I'm 39+2 with my 3rd too and just kind of lazily waiting about. Finding it difficult to muster up the energy to do anything at all! There are a few of us on this thread which has more going on: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2716899-Anyone-fancy-a-late-pregnancy-misery-loves-company-thread

Aceberry · 12/09/2016 16:44

Me too - 39+1 on number three. Also planning a home birth. No signs yet but hoping not tonight as DH is away for work...

Bobbycatz · 12/09/2016 16:50

Yeah I've noticed it's really quiet around here I'm 38+3 and just waiting around for baby to arrive. I've been lurking on the late pregnancy thread so might introduce myself there.

Ali do you know if you're having a boy or girl?

Does anyone know what happens at the 40 week midwife appointment, will they do a sweep there and then or do they book you in for one later. I'm so ready for baby to arrive im already thinking about having a sweep..

OP posts:
0hCrepe · 12/09/2016 16:55

I asked about a 40 week one (well 2days before) but with consultant and the midwife said she'd prob do a vaginal examination and maybe a sweep and talk about induction which I can have at 40 weeks if I want due to my age.
Hopefully if you ask for one she'll oblige!

Bobbycatz · 12/09/2016 17:25

Ooo I'm glad to hear that may be an option I really dont want to be induced, I already thought for whatever reason thought I would be early so I feel like this pregnancy is lasting forever.

Ace I can't remember if you mentioned before, have you had a home birth before?

OP posts:
Penguin000 · 13/09/2016 05:08

Hello, I'm supposedly being induced today and I'm bricking it! I say supposedly as I hear it's really busy and could be waiting a loooong time.

Really annoyed I can't sleep and bet I'll be shattered during labour (why does your body need to practice being knackered?!)

Hope everyone is plodding on ok..Wine soon!!

0hCrepe · 13/09/2016 07:55

Good luck today penguin!
Apparently September is always busy due to babies being conceived over Christmas!

Bobbycatz · 13/09/2016 09:53

Good luck penguin. Hope it goes smoothly and you're not waiting around too long.

Sorry have just name changed from Alibaba- haven't found out what I'm having Bobbycats. Had a weird thing happen yesterday where I thought my waters went in a huge gush but the hospital tested and it wasn't amniotic fluid but really didn't seem like a big wee. How bizarre.

Annabrooke90 · 13/09/2016 10:41

Good luck to everyone :) not be long now.

My little girl is now 9 weeks old, the weeks are flying, she's been home 4 and half weeks now. Wish time would slow down. She is doing really well. First injections today :(

Bobbycatz · 13/09/2016 11:02

Wow Anna first injections already. How is she sleeping and feeding?

How strange yeah have you been having any other twinges or anything?

Hi everyone!

On Sunday evening 19.51 my baby boy was born, 8lb 7oz and the double of his older brother when he was a baby! Labour and birth was super quick. I went for a sweep at 2.30pm, the contractions started in the car on the way home, contacted the mw's at 17.00ish as contraction were very 5ish mins and they sent a mw out to assess me, she arrive at 18.00ish and said that I was still in early labour but didn't want to leave me as my contraction were regular and it was a second baby and I'm glad she didn't because at 19.10 my waters went and 41mins later he was born in our living room. An absolutely amazing experience and I'm so glad we chose a home birth. Unfortunately I bled a lot afterwards and had to go in an ambulance to hospital to get the bleeding stopped, I had some membrane sack left in my uterus so it couldn't contract properly and stop bleeding. Came home mid-day yesterday and I'm starting to feel better.
