Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mumpbump · 15/02/2007 13:02

I should think you've probably had a bit of a shock - can't imagine what state I'd be in if I fell down our stairs - there's a tiled floor at the bottom too!!

Take a deep breath. Can you make yourself a cup of restorative tea or similar, have a biscuit and a bit of a sit-down?

Is your back just bruised or do you think you've wrenched it?

Curlygirly · 15/02/2007 13:02

Thanks mumpbump.

Mumpbump · 15/02/2007 13:04

Oh - and get a big cuddle from your two dc... Much better than tea!

Curlygirly · 15/02/2007 13:05

crashed thru the stairgate at the bottom so must have gone at speed!

DS1 very concerned so will put on smile and make that cuppa.

Feel bit calmer now. Thank you so much.

MrsMcJnr · 15/02/2007 13:40

Poor you Curly, what a horrible shock, hope you are not too sore. I know a friend who had a bad fall in the early stages, the baby was fine but she was really shaken, battered and bruised. Take good care of yourself. Sending you a hug.

Kezza ? glad to hear you are feeling better, postive is good hon, I want to feel more positive, must do us more good than worrying all the time. I agree about looking back and laughing, it?ll be just my luck to get massive, everywhere! I?ve put on ½ pound this week, difference is munching when I feel a bit ikcy I think. I thought the indigestion came later with the bump but I was wrong, know those pains!

Thanks for those details Buffy

Mumpbump ? I think you are going to be our Mummy figure on here, you are already looking after us all and making us all feel better

Have you noticed how many of you are from Wales? must be something great in the water there!

KezzaG · 15/02/2007 14:03

Curly poor you. Stiars really are the devils contraption to pregnant women arent they, I hated them more as I got bigger.

I agree with the others, Im sure it will be fine. Baby is so well protected, and people do all sorts of crazy things before they know they are even pregnant with no harm done. Im thinking of a friend who did a parachute jump at 3 months because she didnt know!

ejt1764 · 15/02/2007 15:52

Poor girl Curly - are you feeling better now?

I've had a bad couple of days [sick] - so haven't kept up with all the messages ....

Just one thing though - I had an emergency C section last time - a totally unnecessary one, so am going to have to be all brave ... and bang the drum for a home birth. I did a lot of research before I even considered getting pg again, because the sad fac of the matter is that the last time I gave birth in a hospital, and went with what I was told, I ended up with an unnecessary C Section and PTSD!! When I got pg last year, I thought I'd conquered it, but unfortunately started suffering flashbacks and nightmares about ds's birth. There is no way on this earth I could do that again, so I'm having this baby at home. There's no 'allowed' about it - unless they section me, I can give birth where I want .....

hmmm .... do you get the feeling I'm a bit about this? sorry - will now get down off the soap box!

Hope everybody is ok - MrsMc - I hope your scan goes well tomorrow - I'll be thinking of you.

love to all, now going back to die on the sofa.

ejt

greedyforbabies · 15/02/2007 16:03

curly - sorry about your fall, but i am convinced what everyone else had said is true. your baby is so tiny and well protected at the moment it will be fine i am sure. if your back still hurts in a few days i would get it checked out.

i worry slightly about my other 2 leaping all over me at the moment. i have always been a rough and tumble kind of mum, and yesterday my ds leapt off the sofa onto my stomach! i told him to be careful of mummys tummy because it was sore (didnt know what else to say, cos we dont want to tell them yet) and he told me to go and try and do a poo and then i would probably feel better! ( i think thats what i must tell him when his tummy hurts!!!)

mrs - glad you are feeling better today mrs. i am spotting again today, not bleeding just spotting so far. but i am trying really hard just not to think about it!

MrsMcJnr · 15/02/2007 16:07

Ejt, good for you, my sis had a home birth last year and said it was the most incredible experience. I?m not brave enough for my first or I would too. I have to wait a whole week more unfortunatley but thanks for thinking of me!

Greedy ? PMSL at the poo advice from your DS . Glad things are sounding better than yesterday hon.

greedyforbabies · 15/02/2007 16:22

i THINK i might go for a home birth too ejt. i was meant to have one last time, but it all changed at the last minute, but i MIGHT try again this time! cant decide at the moment, but my dh and i were discussing it last night...........i THINK he might finally believe that i am pg!

greedyforbabies · 15/02/2007 16:23

i cant keep up with you mrs! you keep swapping threads!

MrsMcJnr · 15/02/2007 16:28

Sorry honestly, my sis said it was just so great to have a cup of tea in your own bed with your new baby and DH and no one else there (though she did change her mind about sending DS1 away for the night and called him back again!) My DH is too scared as am I cos it's our first but I'm still blanking out the birth bit at the moment.

Mumpbump · 15/02/2007 16:32

From the mouth of babes and all that - very funny, greedy!!! Glad you dh seems to be coming around to the fact you're pg!!

MrsmcJnr - I wouldn't worry about the birth thing yet. Apart from anything, by the time you get there, you're so fed up with being pg, that you can become quite desperate to get on with it even though you know there's a good chance it won't be pleasant... Anyway, it can't be all that bad, can it? There's loads of us doing it again and some more than twice!!!

WinniethePooh · 15/02/2007 16:58

Hi everyone,

Curly, I fell down the stairs when I was 11 weeks pg with my Daughter. I got my DP to take me to the hospital a I was worried, but they just told me not to worry as I had a 12 weeks scan the following week.

DD is now 4 1/2 and very sitting on my lap as I type.

Curlygirly · 15/02/2007 17:00

Thank you everyone. Over the shock of the fall but have very sore lower back. Felt bad for dc because I have been working all week and this was our first day out together with friends during this half term. Had to cancel our plans. Will make it up to them tomorrow.

mikamoo · 15/02/2007 17:08

Thought i would pop on in for a quick congrats to all the expectants and hope all is going well. i too am due in october but having a few issues at present with bleeding but getting there. this will be number 2. dd is 22 months and a handful.
Again congrats to all.

Verso · 15/02/2007 20:06

ooh mikamoo I have a dd of 22 months too!

Curly - sorry to hear about your fall. It can really make you wobbly for a while, a shock like that.

MrsMcJnr that whole thing of sitting in bed with a cuppa and your DH and your new baby sounds so idyllic. I know someone who had a home birth recently, second time round, and loved it. Just wish my body wasn't in such bad shape from the first time, otherwise I'd consider it too. The JOY of not having to face psychopathic midwives the next day!! I will be v if lots of you go for it.

Hope everyone's doing ok. I'm finding it difficult to believe that I'm pg although I'm getting hiccups from time to time, whicb I remember from before. Does it seem unreal to anyone else?

KezzaG · 15/02/2007 20:15

Verso, I think it seems unreal until the bump is actually there, and even then it doesnt seem to relate to holding a newborn baby at all.

On the subject of homebirth, I really think that if I had opted for this first time round I might not have ended up c-sec. I was doing fine at home but had to go in as waters broke and had meconium in them, and as soon I got in hospital it all seemed to hurt more. I panicked and asked for an epidural because I was having constant monitoring and couldnt get into a good position, it was just horrible. If I was you MrsMcJnr I would definately go for it.

Dont think I am brave enough for it myself after last experience though, I dont think I have the faith in my body, but I am very impressed with your determination ejt, I will watch with interest what our respective consultants have to say.

Have a good evening everyone.

KezzaG · 15/02/2007 20:17

also meant to say, if I was you Verso I would camp out in the theatre from 36 weeks and refuse to go home if they refuse you! I think your undercarriage has been through quite enough!

whoopsee · 16/02/2007 06:43

Morning

Curly - I too fell down the stairs when pg plus I was throwing myself around a hockey pitch til 4 weeks with this one and 6 weeks with ds! I am also turning into little Miss Clumsy one of my colleagues is finding me knocking into things quite amusing!

Kezza - lol at the camping outside theatre!

Congratulations - Milkamoo look forward to hearing from you more today

MrsMc - My sister had a hbac last year and I was also told by a doula that it would be possible but I don't think I'd be that brave although after mentioning it to dh he didn't say no but I'd rather have the safety of the hospital after having 2 sections

I have car issues today I need to return one I have borrowed to one place then pick mine up from a totally different direction I am tempted to put my bike in the back and cycle from one place to another my friend was riding her bike at at least 20 weeks so I keep thinking I can do it!! may just blag lifts from people!!

Have a good day everyone x

Verso · 16/02/2007 07:31

LOL @ 'undercarriage' . I'm off to pack a sandwich, flask and sleeping bag in readiness right now...

yawningmonster · 16/02/2007 09:46

hi everyone hope today is good for all, is nite here so just a quick message

curly hope you have recovered from your fall

my 'symptoms' keep disappearing and I keep getting a bit nervous that I dreamed it all...starting to wish I hadn't found out till 6 or so weeks just because this period of time seems to be so crushingly slow and it is way to early for anyone to do anything reassuring like a scan or listen for heart etc, etc.

MrsMcJnr · 16/02/2007 10:01

Morning all! wasn?t that Miracles in the Womb programme amazing but kind of scary at the same time?! DH and I fell out as he refused to watch it and I got upset about his lack of interest silly I know.

Curly ? hope your back feels better soon

Mumpbump ? I imagine that what you say is very true! After all, we have a long time to get used to the idea of the birth don?t we!

Thank you Mikamoo and congratulations ? there are quite a few of us with bleeds so do come on here for support, we?ll look after you. Hope you get the all clear soon and can enjoy your pregnancy

Verso ? what?s this about psycho midwives?! Still seems unreal to me too, too good to be true kindof, burping a lot but no hiccups!

Kezza thank you for sharing your expereince, sounds scary, so many of my friends seem to have had sections when they really didn?t want them. I don?t think I?m brave enough to take the control and be at home either though, maybe that will change as the months go on.

Whoopsee ? I?m impressed that you even considered cycling, it is so long since I did any proper exercise!

Know exactly what you mean YawningMonster ? I?ve known for 3 weeks today and I?m still only 6+5!! So much for my plan to enjoy every minute of my pregnancy!

Hello to all those I?ve not mentioned by name!

Have a party for 40 tomorrow for DH?s birthday ? 40 people to convince that I am drinking and at least 4 of them are pregnant, one only 9 weeks but she has told us all, and there are a few more who are trying ? it?ll be funny cos I know everyone will be watching each other like a hawk for the best tell tale sign of all

yawningmonster · 16/02/2007 10:34

re the drinking...sil babysat tonight so dh could go out for dinner and said she would drop us there while bil looked after ds and pick us up so we could both drink...had to go along with it feeling so bad knowing that I wasn't going to be drinking anyway

buffythenappyslayer · 16/02/2007 11:26
