Hellooooo, SOH no delivery for you then? ing.....hope the post man brings it for you today, it keps well so dont worry.

Pebble i wouldnt worry about the pram, another one always comes up, you have a few months yet.

I hate asking for money too, i just suffer mostly untill someone offers or asks how we are doing. PIL mostly. It is depressing having no money, i wouldnt mind doing something from home but wouldnt know where to start. Anyone got any ideas, i couldnt do the parties (virgin vie, usborne books) as i have no child care. Even envelope sticking etc would do, just a little extra.

Of course if idiot ex would just pay some money for the children i wouldnt have to worry

SOH id have lamped her or shoved her tissue up her nostrils...heee, heeee. You are evry patient. So did all the pirate porn talk yesterday mean you had a very good night with dh????

twelveyeargap · 26/01/2007 11:22

Someone told me they knew the person that set this up Dough Dough edible greetings

Setting up a professional kitchen would be expensive, but this is just an illustration of how you can use your talents to make money.

largeginandtonic · 26/01/2007 12:02

TYG i did make cakes for a while, you know pretty ones like this

here

for friends and friends of friends but it is soooo time consuming. I had built up a little portfolio but ex p took the computer with all the pictures on it. This one is not one of mine. It took me about 2-3 days to make a cake and would cost £20-40 for raw ingredients. I could only make about £10-20 each on a cake, not worth the effort really. Now it's just the kids who get them....

Not sure what else to do

Love baking but dont think there is the money to make it worth all the effort.

Am scoffing lunch now, cup a soup and huge bowl of spinach salad and peppers, yum. What is everyone else having?

aprilmeadow · 26/01/2007 14:14

Hi all

Am home from work with poorly ds. Raging temperature, bright red cheeks, runny nose. Poor baby. Have drs appt in 15mins.

notsolilKel · 26/01/2007 14:32

re glider chairs on Ebay - dont' make the same mistake I did last year. Bought one, all excited, and when it arrived it was so narrow I could barely fit into it (and I mean, it was a tight squeeze!) and that was at 20 weeks or so... forget the rest of the pg... and then a major wooden part was broken, and generally the quality was just crap. Tried returning it, never got a refund, horrible seller, just a total, total nightmare. My advice is to see one you like in person, sit in it, measure its width, and make sure you get measurements from any you want to buy off Ebay. Even some Dutalier models are surprisingly small. And I'm not a big girl!!

I know what you mean about a home career. Wld be great to think of something both possible & lucrative

SKYTVADDICT · 26/01/2007 14:39

Hi all

Just off home early as taking DD2 to the Drs (hope you get on ok april). DD2 been coughing all week and now its worse. She has been with me at work today and doesn't seem too bad (been driving me mad)! Dr at 4.20 anyway.

Hope you all have a nice weekend. No DDs this weekend so may be on here a bit.

twelveyeargap · 26/01/2007 14:47

The BT chaps were charming and really helpful and offered to come earlier, but I was at work and then showed up exactly when they said they would. I was so pleasantly surprised I emailed BT to tell them how pleased I was.

Oh WOW LG&T! I knew you were good, but not THAT good!

The bugger, nicking your computer. I think that Dough Dough idea worked because it's just fairy cakes or similar and therefore cheap to stock. Fruit cakes and things are hugely expensive aren't they?

I'm sure you (we?) will think of something! It's just coming up with the idea, isn't it?

I think when the baby is a bit older, (assuming I am not sent back down the mines after all - DH just found out how much our council tax is - over £2700 per year) then I think I might do something from home. Not parties or anything, I'm not the type, but I'd like to have something for myself when the kids are at school.

That is of course, in addition to writing my bestseller.

twelveyeargap · 26/01/2007 14:59

Thanks for the tip about the gliders. Found a LURVELLY one in Mamas and Papas, but not even I can justify paying £475 for a frickin' chair!

I hope the poorly kiddies get better soon.

twelveyeargap · 26/01/2007 14:59

BTW, I had a slab of bounty cake for lunch. Oops!

twelveyeargap · 26/01/2007 15:37

Did I mention that DD and I are going to Spain for a week for the half term? Yippee! My friend owns a house there and I managed to get the flights super cheap. Just trying to get information from friend about rental cost of the house. She bought hte place as an investment, so I don't want to just use it on a school holiday when she could be renting it to someone else, though suspect she's being ignoring the "let me know about the rental and send your bank details" bits of my emails. A mate's rate I can accept, but it doesn't seem right to give her nothing.

Anyhoo, am very excited. Want to take some time off, but obv if I stay home I will spend my time doing things like clearing out the cellar or some nonsense. If I'm not here, I can't do any work! DH might come for a couple of days but is being very weird about taking time off work. I probably shouldn't have mentioned the council tax!

Off to register with new GP. Apparently all new patients have to bring in a wee sample! DH not impressed.

aprilmeadow · 26/01/2007 16:03

just a quick one.... J has Slapped Cheek Syndrome (parvo virus)!!!! Not good if you are pg! got to have more blood tests, 2 reasons, 1: one clotting test cam back high and 2: to see if i have the parvo virus.

Bloody great!

J is sleeping on his daddy whilst i get ready to go to my posh dinner in London. Feel bad for going but at least dh is staying at home.

ttfn

largeginandtonic · 26/01/2007 16:08

April and sky tv hope your babies are ok. This is the time of year for all nasty bugs to attack our children Especially when they are little, it is horrible to see as you cant explain to them whats going on.

Glider chairs??? Not something i have ever looked in to so my research would have no basis, they do look nice though.

I didnt make that particular cake TYG but lots like it. The friut cake ones are the most expensive to make but they are the easiest to ice as hardly any cake crumbs....cake crumbs are the bain of an icer's life

Happy to make any of you ladies cakes to order, not the faffy ones unless you collect. Couriers cant be trusted. I have a coronary while they are being delivered!

The weekend is here, hooray! I love it, no school run, no lunchboxes, no pick up, uniform crisis etc etc....No rest either but hey you can have everything, right?

Lwatkins · 26/01/2007 17:03

Ok so yesterday i was very angry and today i'm close to tears! Why is it everything starts going right, one little thing happens to turn it all tits up!
Well firstly my course tutor took it upon herslf to stand at the front of the ENTIRE class and announce very obviously that i was pregnant, which has now alienated me even more as people are now looking at me like im a lepor! (sp) Then she informed me that i have lots of exams to take between the 7th may and the 22 june Wtf, this information was never given to me when i asked her before! I'm supposed to be leaving here may 5th to go home and have the baby who's due 27th may! I seriously don't know how much more crap i can take before i crack! I'm sick of people telling me one thing, and then a few months later telling me something else, when i cant do anything about it!

MKG · 26/01/2007 17:25

Howdy everyone,

I just got my hair cut for the first time in almost a year, I feel so gorgeous, and i got my eyebrows waxed so i feel like I have had a totally pampered day.

I am going shopping for "trousers" that don't fall down today, no one makes them in tall sizes here, but a store an hours away might have them. I don't know why, but my trousers keep falling down.

Talk to y'all later.

Creena · 26/01/2007 17:27

Hello all!

Welcome back to dejags, MKG and Jessinwa - excellent to see you all again!

What lovely pics, FSF and Jess - your LOs look so cute and adorable.

SOH - you do make me laugh! I loved the Pirate Porn and will be giving it a try tonight hopefully (if I'm not too knackered) although I suspect you don't really want to know that! I'm exactly the same with sniffing people on public transport. I can forgive and tolerate up to a point but when you're sat next to someone who does great, big, mucous-rattling turbo sniffs every other minute, it's a bit too much.

Another ebay health warning - I bought an Isabella Oliver wrap dress on there, which arrived on Wednesday. I think it's a fake. I've got other IO stuff and this is nothing like what I would expect. The material, stitching and finish are poor quality (the wrap bits look like wonky sausages) and the labels are all wrong and look made up (wrong size, type face, finish and, most importantly, completely wrong sizing code). I've sent the seller an email, asking for a refund so I guess I'll just have to see what happens. It was so massively disappointing, though. Funnily enough, this seller seems to only deal in brand name clothing - makes me wonder if there's some dodgy operation going on there.

Coldness - it is flipping freezing here! No snow though. I like snow and don't mind it - it's the cold I can't be doing with! I got home last night and felt frozen to the very marrow. Had to perch in front of the fire for a good hour to defrost.

Quick question - does anyone know the Nottinghamshire area at all? DH has been offered a new job, which might turn out to be mainly based in Nottingham (he was hoping to work from home most of the time - not sure if this will happen now). Means that we might have to move nearer to Nottingham as it's a nightmare to drive to from where we are (2 hour drive each way). I don't know the Notts area at all and was wondering if anyone had any tips on areas to look at houses, schools, estate agents etc. It's all a bit of a mind-bomb for me at the moment. Gah.

Creena · 26/01/2007 17:32

Lwatkins - that's awful! I'm eally sorry to hear about this. Do you have a student counsellour to welfare officer you can see? Surely other arrangements can be made for your exams - people have emergencies and stuff all the time and have to put exmas back or used predicted grades - I mean, giving birth and caring for a newborn are of the utmost priority and importance to you now. You can't put either off just so you can sit end of year exams! I really don't think that this tutor know what she's talking about, nor is she being at all concerned about your best interests. I would definitely take this up elsewhere and more formally if I were you.

Hope it gets sorted out for you quickly - fingers crossed for you.

Pinktrappedwindjenny · 26/01/2007 17:33

Hi blooming beauties

Need some advice today. We have told dh's cousin, who is training to be a childminder, that she can take the baby for 3 days a week when I go back to work. However, we have changed our minds now as she lives 9 miles away - and we have found a selection of decent nurseries round here.

What can I say to her??!!!

And another thing - I'm getting so upset with all the pink-bashing. If we all meet up at some point, my dd will be the one in the pink tutu.

Went on the scales today, always a mistake. I've put 1.5 stones on. Is that horrific for 22+4? Will I put on 5 stone at this rate?

And one last question, where is good for blankets?

Trapped wind still bad. Dh not amused.

MKG · 26/01/2007 17:41

PinkJenny,

I have the opposite problem of you. There is nothing trapped about my wind. I don't know which is worse, but mine always tends to fly out when I'm in the store, so I usually run to the other aisles so no one thinks it's me.

Lwatkins · 26/01/2007 17:47

Creena i was told to go and speak to my student adviser, only problem is he's the t**t who told me i'd have to terminate my pregnancy if i wanted to stay at uni!!! I'm gonna contact the dean about all this, sick of getting messed about!

twelveyeargap · 26/01/2007 18:04

LW - I'm really sorry to hear about all this. Your tutor sounds like a complete muppet. As Creena said, it's now very important that you see a student councellor. I'm certain that arrangements can be made for you - just as they would be if you had a serious illness. They can't discriminate just because you're up the duff!

Pinkjenny - I would buy stuff like blankets in John Lewis. Partly because I don't know where else to look and partly because I like shopping there.

Try not to worry too much April. Parvo is more of a concern before 20 weeks re: miscarriage. (Phew) Are they going to check for foetal anaemia? Am reading that's the other concern, although what I read sounded like the risk is very low. When will you get the results of the tests? How is J feeling?

Frenchsmallfry · 26/01/2007 18:05

Evening...............

Sky TV, Hope dd is OK.

AM, I'm sorry J is porly, and I really hope you and Ella are OK. Have a good evening tonight. I'll catch you on MSN over the weekend.

Pebble have you decided over your buggy dilema? Could you put it on your CC for now, but then ask MIL about the money for it? She'll have the month before the bill arrives then and could write a cheque straight to the CC company for you? It does seem a shame to miss it if it is exactly what you want, but even so I'm sure another will come up at a good price maybe even better if it is a pram of the moment.

Lw, it seems soo shit what you are going through, that is not fair what your lecturer said to everyone. Try to keep your chin up chic, I'm sure it will get easier. xxx

ds did go to school today, he was one of 3 children in his class. I felt a bit guilty for leaving him there but he didn't seem to mind and pram driving was calling. YEY YEY YEY, I found one. here it is. I am so pleased with it after a lot of recearch this week it does everything I wanted and was reduced by over £140. It comes with a push chair bit too, that is rear or forward facing, rain cover, and it folds with either the pram or pushchair still on the frame. Check out the size of the shopping basket, very essential!!

Pinktrappedwindjenny, I bought a couple of cellular blankets from babiesrus before I had dd, they are really lovely.

OP posts:
twelveyeargap · 26/01/2007 18:07

I crossed-posts with you there LW. DEFINITELY speak to the Dean. That student councellor had no right to say that to you and probably NO FCKING TRAINING in pregnancy councelling - HOW DARE he say that?

OMG .

I don't know how I can help, but if there's anything at all...

cinnamontam · 26/01/2007 18:07

HE SAID WHAT!!!!!!

You are being overly nice calling that f**kwit a twat.

God, I am so for you. Good luck mate. Sounds like you need to find a reasonable, sane person to help you steer your way through all this shit. Can you get someone to go with you when you see these people?

Creena · 26/01/2007 18:27

Just read your post, Lwatkins and I'm so angry, I'm positively Hulk like! How dare he say something like that? That's appalling! You really need to raise this formally now. I feel that you are being discriminated against because of your pregnancy - how dare they tell you to terminate if you want to stay. An employer would be hauled over hot coals for telling a pregnant employee to terminate if she wanted to keep her job - this amounts to what has been said to you too. Also, the fact that they have shown no interest or inclination in re-scheduling your exams or making alternative arrangements when they KNOW that you will be giving birth demonstrates that they are completely failing in their duty of care towards you. They cannot get away with this! In fact, I feel like pounding my way to Bristol right now to deal with them - green skin, ripped trousers and all!
