Each of mine have been easier than the one before. I'll get a shock if this one isn't!

Afreshstartplease · 09/05/2016 18:30

Ah I love Coco for a nn!

My DC1 was a really good baby. DC2 was a nightmare. But they balanced each other out and it really was OK.
DC3 was a mix of the two, was and still is clingy to me and not so keen on most other people!

They all have their own personalities which is lovely Smile I wonder which this one will be most like!

Alice1209 · 09/05/2016 21:25

Hi all. Hope your all doing well. At 16 weeks. I had my midwife appointment today, she rushed through it. Didn't want to take blood type test today even though the tag was supposedly wrong on last test. I'm o- and I thought that was something they would want to confirm as There could be potential problems with my type and what type my baby might be. Anyone been in a similar position?

BigPigLittlePig · 09/05/2016 21:51

Dd was a hellish baby, bless her. Undiagnosed multiple allergies and untreated reflux meant she screamed for 4+ hours inconsolably overnight, couldn't be put down for even a few seconds, and was the very definition of velcro baby. When I went back to work at 9m, she was still waking every hour of every night, and the childminder quit on day 3. Anyhoo, bit of diagnosis and treatment and we had a new child, actually incredibly calm, cuddly, and a total joy. It is lucky that a mothers love is what it is, as I nearly lost my mind. So any 2nd child must be a doddle by comparison, I've decided! I'm owed an easy one this time, right!?

Kariana · 09/05/2016 22:24

I had my midwife appointment today, she rushed through it.

Do we have the same midwife Alice? Grin I was rushed through today at my appointment and the midwife didn't even know what some of the acronyms the other midwife had written in my notes meant. She was an older lady too so you would think more experienced!

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 09/05/2016 22:42

If you're RH - Alice you'll need an anti d injection, I think I had one at about 28 weeks with DS and have one booked for early August this time. You'll also need one if you have a bleed or if you bump your bump, I think.

AngharadTheSplendid · 09/05/2016 22:47

Definitely big pig! DD1 woke every 2 hours for the first four months and I thought it was going to kill me. 9 months is unacceptable!! That must've been so hard.

Fresh totally agree, as I only have one dc so far I almost can't imagine this one coming out any differently! I can't wait to see what hair/eye colour she has and of course her little personality. I wouldn't mind if this one is a bit clingy, DD is so un-clingy sometimes I feel a little affronted Wink

Glad the nns Posy and Coco are liked - will probably use those 90% of the time over full name (that's how it is with DD1 anyway, she is Vivienne but always Vivi).

Alice1209 · 09/05/2016 23:32

Thanks. I honestly didn't know what an anti D was now I get it! GrinI think I'm learning more from Mumsnet than anywhere else!

Kariana sounds like it! Sadshe kept using medical terms and asking me to remind her to do stuff in 7 weeks time! Given I walked out without booking my next appointment I don't think she has much hope of me reminding her! Thankfully I have the same midwife each time.

Kariana · 10/05/2016 07:44

It doesn't fill you with confidence does it Alice! My midwife said "book your next appointment for xxx, oh I think it's me on again then". I promptly booked for the week after and hoped she wasn't wrong about her shift rotation!

FuzzyOwl · 10/05/2016 08:59

Angharad I am wondering if our DDs are secret twins. Mine is the least clingy baby I have ever met but maybe that goes with being such an easy and happy baby.

My MW appointment yesterday was weird! Completely different to when I was having my son. There was two of them in the room, one looked through my notes, the other did my BP/checked my urine sample and that was pretty much it! Briefly went through my blood test results, didn't ask if I had any questions, concerns etc... and then said 'right, see you at 28 weeks!'. No measuring me, hearing the heartbeat etc (thankfully I have my own doppler or I'd be going stir crazy by now!). But 28 weeks?! And then not again until 35 apparently! So no 3-weekly measuring of the uterus to make sure baby is growing ok, but she assured me she'd be on hand 'every Monday' if I had any problems... yeah great, thanks...

Anyhooooo, super exciting news this morning - my best friend (who lost 2 babies last year, found out at the 12-week scan both times Sad) had her 12 week scan this morning and was told that not only is everything absolutely fine, but she's actually 5 days ahead of where she though! Yipee! I'm going to have a bump buddy IRL! Yay! Grin Grin Grin

Figgygal · 10/05/2016 12:57

Wheels I was the same they took blood and BP and that was it, no weighing, measuring, heartbeat seeking and an apt for 28 weeks.

Afreshstartplease · 10/05/2016 15:38

I think it's standard if you have already had one straight forward pregnancy then you don't get seen til 28 weeks

I think first timers get seen at 24?

Wheels1986 · 10/05/2016 16:03

Yep, I was seen every 3 weeks from 24 weeks last time. Just seems a bit bizarre, your chances of having a normal pregnancy don't increase with the amount of pregnancies you have, surely the same level of care should be expected! Or I could just be a massive hypochondriac who worries about every niggle, ache and pain I get... Grin

Afreshstartplease · 10/05/2016 16:34

It does seem a long time I agree

I have scan at 20 weeks and it will be decided then if I need growth scans so I may be getting seen again before 28

Kariana · 10/05/2016 17:12

I will be having my 20 week scan then a midwife appointment at 21 weeks (22 really because I made it for the week after). No idea what will happen after that. Sounds like it's different depending on your area.

Does anyone with experience of the 20 week scan appointment know how long it is likely to take? Is it a longer appointment? 12 week one seemed to be about 10 mins!

Afreshstartplease · 10/05/2016 17:18

I was the scan would be half an hour +

Afreshstartplease · 10/05/2016 17:54

Just ordered a Moses basket!

The baby pod from precious little ones, it's reduced by £65! Couldn't resist although disappointed they didn't have if with blue fabric!

Anyone else bought any bargins?

BadlyWrittenPoem · 10/05/2016 23:30

The appointments are every fifteen minutes in my NHS trust but I've had a scan take double the time because they had to see movement and DD1 just didn't move for ages. Mine have always been running late too.

Afreshstartplease · 11/05/2016 06:54

I'm being scanned by a consultant, I wonder if that's why I've been told 30+

Gigglebert · 11/05/2016 07:07

fresh we had a consultant led anomaly scan last time (and will this time) and it was approx 30 mins, he checked for the markers of the genetic problem that runs in my husband's family and once he was happy he left and the regular sonographer did the standard checks. The 20 week scan is amazing, they zoom right in on the heart and can show the direction of blood flow through the vessels/valves! Wish they would have let me video it, would have been cool to show my pupils when teaching fetal development!

TeaGirl3 · 11/05/2016 07:24

Morning! I'm so excited as I've definitely been feeling movements this morning! First time I'm sure it's the baby rather than digestion! Grin

Tomkat79 · 11/05/2016 07:51

A sonographer told me that all 20w apt are now 30 mins in line with the new regulations/recommendations, would guess will eventually be rolled out across the board.
All this iron seems to be doing is making me go to the lav 4 times a day. I want my energy back (just for a hit before he's born and then I can't function again!)

Tomkat79 · 11/05/2016 07:52

Lovely isn't it *tea!

TeaGirl3 · 11/05/2016 09:01

It's so lovely Tomkat! I can't stop smiling this morning now. I can't wait till it gets stronger so that my husband can feel it too! I'm 17+2 at the mo; I can't believe I'll be half way in three weeks time!!

In addition, I'd recommend the maternity tights from Mothercare. I've got them on now for the first time and they're so much more comfortable than my usual ones!
