I'm shattered from preparations for DD1's birthday party. And that's with DH taking the day off to help! I've noticed it's very quiet here these days. Presumably it's busier in the Facebook group but I'm still waiting to be added.

Afreshstartplease · 06/05/2016 18:25

I don't have fb but I've been busy at work and it's wiping me out!

16+2, gender scan tomorrow!

TeaGirl3 · 06/05/2016 22:37

My tummy is definitely getting bigger now which grows throughout the day. Once I've told everyone my news then I'll join the FB group too. I'm collecting our cot and dresser/baby changer tomorrow, which is exciting! Has anyone bought anything else yet? Any advice from current mums regarding what is worth buying/not worth buying would be really helpful! I have so much to learn!

pod100 · 06/05/2016 23:34

Haven't been on here in a few days so just caught up. I stopped getting notifications for new posts for some reason?!

Teagirl, I have bought a few small bits and bobs and am ordering our pram on Tuesday. Wouldn't have ordered it yet but Fenwicks is having an open evening so I'll get a decent discount on it. Attempted to go to ikea to look at nursery furniture on Monday but that was a daft idea as couldn't get near the place with it being a bank holiday! Hmm

Exciting news for gender scan tomorrow fresh. Do you have any inklings? Sorry to read about your oh. Hope things are ok for you x

Badlywritten, I think one of the girls has just added you to the FB group but if you're having no joy, DM me your details and I'll try and add you x

Afreshstartplease · 07/05/2016 08:09

Today I think it's a girl

I've bought little bits but wanted to know gender before buying most things

We already have a cot and baby monitor and a little stroller

Waiting til Cosatto announce autumn winter releases to get a pram, I want the air but am not overly keen on two of the fabric options and the other is just OK. I'd hate to buy and then see one I loved!

Thelittleredhead · 07/05/2016 08:16

Morning all. Just checking in to say hi. Been a while.

First timer here and for some reason I'm feeling more anxious the further along I get! Perhaps because the further along I am the more terrible it would be if something happens?

No belly yet (except in the evenings when I look about 6 months!), and no movements felt. But am only 14+5 so I didn't expect any of that yet anyway. Had my 14 week scan on Monday and everything looks good. My symptoms have subsided a lot, which I know is normal in 2nd trimester but is making me more anxious!

Anyway, I'm sure I'll get over it and (touch wood) will start seeing a little belly soon, which will reassure me :).

Hope everyone's feeling good- second trimester is supposed to be the "easy" one, right?

:) x

Hello everyone! I've been awol for a while, no particular reason!

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the gorgeous sunshine. Sadly I have to work today but looking forward to maybe going to see the sea tomorrow and get some sun on my very pale legs (with factor 50, of course!) Anyone else got lovely sunny plans for the weekend?

Good luck for gender scan today fresh - exciting!

We're not going to find out what we're having, although I think its going to take some serious will power at the 20 week scan! Love the idea of DH telling me what it is when its born though.

Right, I should get dressed for work really. Have lovely days everyone!

MeDownSouth · 07/05/2016 10:18

Hello ladies! Long time no speak! So to catch you up here:

  • Fuzzy I sent a friendly email to my boss which OH checked to make sure she couldn't take offence with 4 questions. Got a very long formal reply with no answers basically calling me a liar about everything I said had been said. Hoping to tell everyone soon and then I'll have a chat with another member of Snr Management
  • House move is progressing again. Should've exchanged on Thurs but didn't the Fri but didn't so now hoping for Monday! Eep!
  • Told our families BH weekend! OH's mum is very excited, my mum and dad are happy but mum looked a bit shell shocked (may be jet lag...) and sisters' reaction was a bit underwhelming but hey. Told two of our good friends down here (under the pretence of taking them out for tea to celebrate our nearly house) as we wanted them to know first (they lost a baby last year), then told the two people I work with most/get on best with yesterday, both very surprised we kept it quiet so long (17+1 now!) and 'ah that's explains a lot'. Planning to do a mail everyone at work on monday as uniform is getting snug!
  • Had 16wk appt with MW who just checked blood results and blood pressure. In and out in about 10mins. She also said the funny feeling I've had might be baby as I'm 'slight' (size 10-12), felt like I was being tickled from the inside - very strange!

Think that's it! Box packing will be starting again this weekend (after a lazy morning :) ) but baby stuff feels like it's all going very quick! It only seems 5mins since we did the test and now we're nearly half way!

Congratulations to all who've had their good news! We're not finding out what baby is (I don't want to know so OH is stuck hehe) and not planning on buying much (parents still have our cots and my mum & dad still have my pram so just need mattresses and I'm sure we'll get bought more than we need) but my 'not til after 20wk scan' shopping ban is still in place!

Fresh sorry to hear about you and OH Brew Cake but I'm sure whatever happens will work out best for you and DC.

Blueskygirl30 · 07/05/2016 10:22

Fresh I'm looking forward to hearing about your scan. I hope it all goes well and you get to find out the sex.

LittleRed I know what you feel about getting nervous as things progress, with it being worse if something goes wrong. I'm 18+1 now and I've been feeling some movement for a few weeks now so when I feel that I'm reassured but then in between movements I find I start to worry again!

Golden it's a shame you have to work today but your plan of getting some sun to the legs at the sea tomorrow sounds great. I wish I lived a bit closer to the coast I'm weather like this!

I've bought a Chicco next to me crib so far as it was on offer. We're going to the baby show next week so might get some things there if there's any good deals.

I find I still wake up on my back a lot in the night and have a rather achy back too. I was thinking of buying a dreamgenii pillow, has anyone got any advice on this, or another pillow?

CatEsco7 · 07/05/2016 12:17

Hi October Mums to be! Smile

Anyone want to take a guess on whether it's a boy or girl based on nub theory???

MeDownSouth · 07/05/2016 13:12

How often do mothercare change their offers? I've seen a travel cot I like half price but OH says 'too early!'. Is it likely to stay on offer long do you think?

BadlyWrittenPoem · 07/05/2016 17:23

DownSouth, I've not particularly studied it but there seem to be offers/sales most of the time from what I can tell. We bought a travel cot as a playpen for our then 11 month old at the start of my last pregnancy and without us trying to be strategic or anything it seemed to be on sale. I think they change the colours on things so often that they're almost always selling off old ones.

bringonthrsummer · 07/05/2016 20:02

Had a private scan last night, found out she's a little girl with very long legs and likes playing with her cord. Got to hear her heart beat for the first time too. Smile now just need to think of a name to go with the other two lol x

FuzzyOwl · 07/05/2016 21:20

MeDownSouth really hope your senior manager is more understanding.

Hope your scan went well Fresh.

Cat, I would guess a girl.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Congrats Bringon and Fresh!

AngharadTheSplendid · 08/05/2016 03:15

Lovely news fresh and summer. Another gender scan today here, we're having another little girl. Delighted for DD to have a sister (and not have to buy new clothes!)

Afreshstartplease · 08/05/2016 08:17

That's lovely angharad how old is your dd? Mine would have loved a sister!

LillianFullStop · 08/05/2016 09:32

16w today and I have my midwife appt on Tue - it's marked as 'Women Only' so DH won't come along. I hope they don't do a blood test as I'd like DH with me for it!!

Bump is starting to show still very small but definitely present - grow enormously with bloat by the end of the day but I know that it's not the real bump haha

Not sure if I'm starting to feel flutters now or if it's gas. Feels like increased blood pumping or something - I sure hope it's kicks!

Afreshstartplease · 08/05/2016 09:43

Lillian's post has just made me remember when I was last pregnant I kept getting asked at midwife appointments if I felt safe in my home and with dp Confused I assumed it was new over cautious policy but I haven't had it at all this time! Anyone else?

Wheels1986 · 08/05/2016 10:34

Afreshstart, my midwife asked this at my booking in appointment a few weeks back! Never asked last time, thought it was odd!

16 week appt tomorrow, although I hear the heartbeat every day with my doppler, I do love it!

Afreshstartplease · 08/05/2016 11:11

Least it's not just me!

Been proper splurging on the next sale!

FuzzyOwl · 08/05/2016 13:52

Great news bringon and afresh.

When is it your DD's party BadlyWritten? Hope it went well or goes well if it hasn't happened yet. And happy birthday to her.

I have been sat in the sunshine eating strawberries but now heartburn has arrived! Still, it was lovely whilst it lasted.

I was at a wedding yesterday, without dp, at the other end of the country. Travelling home now. Turns out weddings aren't as fun when you're sober.

MeDownSouth · 08/05/2016 16:14

Went to get a new bra (well two) today. Had a really meh experience being fitted in m&s and felt really uncomfortable making a purchase based on that advice (I was steered away from maternity bras?). So went to ask for advice in Bravissimo. The lady was so lovely and they give you a leaflet about what to expect as you change shape and yes M&S woman appeared to be measuring me for a normal bra (smaller than b.p.), not the requested maternity one. I'd been wearing the wrong size for a while and I'm now nice and snug in a 34H (!) but with a bit of room to grow. They were lovely and I'd recommend them if things are getting tight!
