Hey Grin

I'm 13+1, due 30th October, potential Halloween baby Wink

Anyone know much about the NT screening? At 12+4, got a measurement of 1.7mm? Had the bloods too, just anxiously awaiting the results.

Cannot wait for week 20 to find out the sex!!!
First pregnancy and I'm so excited! X

Naomi

Welcome Naomi. I see you've had a few scans. Has it been a difficult pregnancy or did you just pay for an early one?

Hey!
I had the first as I wasn't aware that I was pregnant, due to having selective periods anyway - I just didn't think until I went completely without one (not remembering my date of my last!) I had taken 4 pregnancy tests; all of which came back positive.

Met with the midwife for the first time and she found a heartbeat, so guessed I was around the 12 week mark, however when I went to the scan was only 10 weeks, the second scan I had in EPU after having gone to A&E with severe abdominal pain for about 3 days?, which turned out to be nothing serious - guess I just panicked because I don't really know what to expect as normal throughout a pregnancy, worried me slightly, and the third is my dating scan. Grin

Next scan booked for the 15th June, however we're tempted to go private and get an early sex scan!! X

Fraggleface your work sounds exactly like mine and I'm doing the same - smp and not going back. I had to tell then a few weeks ago though and actually went ok so that was a relief. Hope yours goes well when you tell them.

Naomi my measurement was 1.5 and I just got my letter saying low risk but I have no idea what the criteria are with the measurement.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 25/04/2016 21:48

Quite a roller coaster then! Hopefully everything will be nice and straight forward from now on. I guess ten weeks must be not quite far enough for them to use as the dating scan. I wasn't sure of dates with one of mine (no periods since the previous pregnancy) but I was eleven weeks at the dating scan so didn't get an extra one.

Amy inbox me about Facebook group X

pod100 · 25/04/2016 22:21

Hey Naomi, from what I read I think anything under 2.5 or 2.7 is good so it looks likes good sign for you there.

Does anyone know of any in store special discount events coming up, or where I can find out about them? Would be good to see if we could get a discount on the pram we liked x

Fraggleface · 25/04/2016 23:22

Thanks kariana Glad your work has responded to your news relatively well. It's such a shame that even in 2016, many, many of us are discriminated against just because we get pregnant and want to take some time off to look after our babies. Star employee to enemy number 1 in 1 easy step...

Afreshstartplease · 26/04/2016 07:41

My measurement was 1.7 and my risks were low
I think they were

Downs 1-70,000
Edwards and patau 1-100,000

Afreshstartplease · 26/04/2016 07:44

Mama's and papas have bank holiday offers on ATM, selected prams furniture etc reduced

If you sign up to things like mother care, babiesrus etc you can get some discount codes

I have used the website precious little ones before for baby things, they are reliable and usually cheaper than other places

naomijd19 · 26/04/2016 08:13

Thank you Pod100 & Freshstartplease Grin really reassuring X

Afreshstartplease · 26/04/2016 08:14

It does go off your blood results and age etc too Naomi, but TBH when I saw 1.7 I knew it was in the good range

clank2 · 26/04/2016 09:13

Hi Afreshstartplease ... I was just wondering if its a normal thing to get separate results for edwards and patau as I only got one for downs...thanks x

Afreshstartplease · 26/04/2016 09:14

Clank mine were on the same letter, it probably varies going on your area. Although this is DC4 I've never had the screening before so I've no past experiences! Perhaps ask your midwife?

MeDownSouth · 26/04/2016 16:54

Congrats to all!
So MW was happy with me yesterday, she said the funny feelings could well be the baby as there's not much of me so I'd probably feel it earlier :)
I went to tesco today and as there was no OH I went for a sneaky look at baby clothes and ended up (only) buying a set of monkey dribble bibs in the sale! (there's more than one type of bib?) OH's not gonna be happy hehe but they were too cute to leave! They had lots of clothes, toys, nappies etc on sale and this was a small store so might be worth a look.
Am pooped today though, and my hip/lower back is aching - I'm walking like an old man :(

Afreshstartplease · 26/04/2016 17:00

I'm walking like I don't know what but it's not very attractive I know that lol

Today I've bought a mam self sterilising anti colic bottle to have a look at as I'm considering using these this time around

BadlyWrittenPoem · 26/04/2016 18:35

This is my shopping list but I'm not going to start buying until I'm past 21 weeks and have had the anomaly scan.

Cotton wool
Flannels
Disposable nappies
Dye for muslins
Stretchy sling
Monitor
Pillows/pillow cases

I think we have everything else we need already. Grin

Gigglebert · 26/04/2016 18:45

badly my list isn't much longer! Lots of cotton wool, we thought we were prepared last time with our four packets before she was born! oh how naive! ;)

Afreshstartplease · 26/04/2016 18:54

I can't stand changing tar nappies with cotton wool

I am terrible for smuggling wipes into hospital

FuzzyOwl · 26/04/2016 19:01

Naomi my baby had a measurement of 1.7mm at 12+5 and, I know the bloods and your age account for part of the test, but we are low risk.

Clank I have had separate risk results for both in each pregnancy. Might be worth calling your midwife to ask.

Afresh we have those bottles and I really recommend them. I also intend to smuggle wipes in this time - it took DH 13 mins to change DD's nappy after my section when we were in the hospital. Admittedly it was the first nappy he had ever done but even so!

Afreshstartplease · 26/04/2016 19:02

Fuzzy, good to hear positive about the bottles! I've previously always used avent but liked the idea of easy sterilising if at relatives etc

BadlyWrittenPoem · 26/04/2016 19:25

When I gave birth in hospital we were expected to have wipes. I think they just assumed that's what everyone would bring. I hate wipes so only use them when out and use flannels/cotton wool at home. I actually have a question mark over whether I need cotton wool as I thought we'd use as much second time round as we did first time. I ended up giving some to friends expecting babies and still had enough for the next baby. We may still have some in the loft with the baby things!

BadlyWrittenPoem · 26/04/2016 19:34

BTW when I say I hate wipes I just mean I find them not very good when I use them. I don't have any objections to them in principle.

athousandsplendidsuns · 26/04/2016 19:44

clank I think some places (eg Bristol where I am) only do the downs test at 12 weeks. I think they then look for the sort of anomalies you get in Edwards and patau at 20 week scan. I didn't realise they weren't testing for all three until I got my results, and when I checked from ds1 they had only done downs too (which is annoying coz I didn't really want downs screen first time but had test to check for the other two - too much pregnancy brain to notice when I got the results last time!). Still battling morning retching and nasty throat lump/taste all day which means I'm eating loads and therefore stressing about weight and bulging bump at 15+1. Also planning to smuggle in wipes (maybe those posh water wipes for the first few weeks)....I hate cotton wool.

Afreshstartplease · 26/04/2016 19:59

I usually get the pampers new baby in the white packet for newborns
