OK, OK, so we already had a couple of babies on the last thread, but we're going to struggle to keep up with the number of new arrivals in this one!!!

Congratulations zebras and isla Grin
Gorgeous babies! Funny how the thread seemed boy heavy but girl arrivals! Wishing you both speedy recoveries.

Am feeling very hormonal at the moment. currently crying over stupid pram (or lack of). I have dds old buggy still, it's fine, lightweight, one handed fold, folds as unit (no having to take seat off etc), big basket, carseat clips straight on so for eg on the school run I can just whack the buggy up and stick carseat on, fits in my tiny boot. I've got a soft carrycot for it too so baby can lie flat and be parent facing for walks (although no hood on head end of carrycot). Practically it's the best option.

But it's a shitty basic graco and is ten years old and although it's always been fine it's never really been what I wanted and I'm having a big wobble over whether I want to get a new pram/pushchair (basically so I can have something more stylish Hmm)

Welcome new babies and congratulations - gorgeous pics!

My little man is getting bigger already and losing the "brand new" look - he was up to 7lb7oz at his 2 week check (from 6lb5oz on discharge). I can't believe he'll be 3 weeks on Monday! I'm pretty much recovered now - I've been out for long walks the last couple of days and I'm planning to get back driving next week (DH is back to work). DS2 is feeding well but seems to be in pain with wind a lot Sad otherwise he's a contented little fella.

Good luck to all over the next few days it sounds like more babies are imminent!

Newlywed123 · 23/01/2016 13:32

Troika I have a vintage SilverCross Berkeley... which doesnt fit in my husbands 3 door sports car boot as its too large! Only way it fits in is it we take the top of and the wheels but then we cant put a carseat in Confused. If we ever go away baby will have to go into a carrier as our house isnt big enough to store a pram for the car! Quite a big disaster, but i wouldnt swap my pram!

Troika · 23/01/2016 13:32

This is it. I know it's fine. But it's just a bit shit isn't it? (Why is this suddenly important to me??)

This is mine. It is practical for were i live though... aslong as i dont get the bus! Ive only ever had this pram, was given a basic stroller when my daughter got older but she hated it and usually walks everywhere now . I dont think there is anything wrong with your pram Smile

Troika · 23/01/2016 13:44

I think it's just that it's a buggy and I want a pram Blush Hormonal tantrum over nothing I expect!

MaisieDotes · 23/01/2016 13:48

troika that pram looks lovely and cosy. I'd say you're nesting though if you're feeling like this! I can't advise you either way as I impulse-bought a new car seat a couple of weeks ago because I felt so sad when I took out DS's old one (which itself had been second hand from my niece) and it was all marked.

I figure that the new baby isn't getting anything else brand new so he'll have his new car seat and that's fine.

I've already had a wobble looking at isla and zebra's babies in their brand-new babygros though! Everything I have was previously DS's and even though it's perfect and only worn once or twice I feel a bit bad that the baby hasn't got anything new! Except vests actually. He has all new vests Smile

mawsy glad to hear all is going well! Cycle the little legs for the wind if you aren't already.

Newlywed123 · 23/01/2016 13:54

I agree with Masie sounds like nesting! Baby will be very cosy in it Smile

I wont be using mine strqight away, I'll be too scared of baby bashing side to side as its so big Blush

Mawsymoo · 23/01/2016 13:56

maisie I bought a new "first" babygro for DS2 and a new going home outfit. That's all I'll keep outfit-wise from both boys so I wanted DS2 to have his own. Everything else is from DS1 - though as he gets older he'll have less hand-me-downs as the older stuff gets worn out. I got gorgeous stuff in m&s - so maybe go out and treat yourself?

Troika · 23/01/2016 13:57

Maisie it's crazy isn't it? I've been perfectly happy that everything was my older dcs and even felt quite proud of myself for having kept it all. But suddenly I'm bursting into tears looking at the buggy because I don't want to use it Confused

I'm sure I will be fine once she's actually here and it becomes more about the actual baby than getting stuff ready for her!

MaisieDotes · 23/01/2016 17:33

mawsy I might try and get over to the shops tomorrow! It would be nice to even just have one special outfit.

troika I know how you feel. I was delighted with myself for being sensible but I think at this stage some primal instinct takes over. I honestly think your pram looks perfect though. What about getting some special new blankets for it?

Peggysue1982 · 23/01/2016 18:39

Hi all. Just popping on to say hi really as I haven't been on MN since the whole email/login fiasco. Been keeping up to date via FB still tho. Have had to change my username as I couldn't remember my previous log-in details so am now Peggysue1982.

birdbrain21 · 23/01/2016 19:15

Congratulations to all the new babies amd mummy's! Can't believe how many there has been already I'm due on Monday and thought this was a February group so thought i would be one of the first!

IslaMann · 23/01/2016 20:51

Northern are you ready for a long story? Well, you did ask!
At my 36wk appt it was agreed that I could have a tubal sterilisation at the same time as the section as it would be dangerous for me to have another pregnancy due to the state of my uterus. It made sense to just have 1 operation to recover from. Well it turns out that having surgery was dangerous. CS bit was fine, all over in 7 mins from knife-to-skin to birth. The sterilisation however took 1.5 hrs due to the immense amount of adhesions. One was very stuck and a vessel got torn, resulting in a 2 litre blood loss and a blood pressure in my boots. They were able to reinfuse 650mls of my own blood using cell salvage, which took me out of the critical blood loss barrier. I spent 12 hrs in HDU but am fine now. In fact I feel better than I have for the past 9 months!

Rufus200 · 23/01/2016 20:53

My fav cat obviously knows something I don't, he is stalking me and won't leave me alone. All he wants to do is sit on bump this afternoon. Everytime I move he goes with me and gets back in my lap!

Sighing · 23/01/2016 20:54

newlywed that sounds very exhausting. Brew

Troika · 23/01/2016 21:02

Bloody hell isla. Just take care of yourself and don't overdo it

Troika · 23/01/2016 21:04

Oh and thank you all for all the pram counselling Blush

NorthernChinchilla · 23/01/2016 21:33

Crikey Isla! Firstly, glad you're hopefully out of the woods and feeling better now than before. Major Flowers for the trauma thought, must have been tough for you all. My friend had something similar on her third section, not as bad but was in surgery for nearly five hours.
How long will you be in for?

DS got his first big boy hair cut today- we've just let it grow for four years as it's lovely blond curls, but got it trimmed to shoulder level as he'd asked for it. Hope DC2 has equally gorgeous hair!

haquoi123 · 24/01/2016 05:44

Wow isla, so glad you're ok! Also really glad you're feeling good :)

troika I recognise that nesting feeling - I'm panicking about the amount of things we've bought but also really upset that I haven't been able to choose all of the stuff I've been given... Talk about contrary! I cracked the other day and begged one of my friends to come round and help me finish the sorting. It was just the dregs but those are the hardest bits, such as actually throwing away crap and charity shopping, etc, as well as a general tidy. She was amazing. I feel like I can give birth now.

My sister's birthday today, I sort of want him to come along today!

chinchilla, that's so sweet for your little boy, I'd love our son to have long hair (it's definitely going to be curly!)

Rufus200 · 24/01/2016 10:13

isla sounds like quite an ordeal, glad you are ok now.

I do not feel at all well. DH and my mum both have man flu. While I can stay away from my mum, I live with the most unhygienic man who just sneezes and snots on everything! Already got the sinus pain and snuffles. I don't think a cough will help my c-section at all and I certainly don't want baby coming out to be surrounded by sick adults! He really needs to stay in there until I get over this and get some immunity to give him!

Rufus200 · 24/01/2016 10:17

Anyone that has been sick during pregnancy, what did the pharmacy give you that actually helped make you feel better?

madsaz76 · 24/01/2016 10:52

Morning all. isla that sounds frightening glad you are recovering now

rufus do you mean sick as in nausea or sick as in poorly? Pharmacies don't have a load to offer

If you are puking then some prescribed anti emetics may work

If you have the cold your lovely family appear to be offering you its probably hobsons choice - paracetamol, olbas oil, steam, rest, self pity and hopefully sympathy.

Hope you get better soon.

I have lost my get up and go completely. Wish I could nest (though did get ridiculously excited about a baby beanbag yesterday )

Now have some stronger BH and also think maybe a bit of bruising from Thursday so some pains. Keep falling asleep. I know this is probably the last time before I retire I'll ever get to sleep like this but we have some old furniture to get rid of and a couple of rooms I want to spring clean/ do carpets etc.

Need the nesting to kick in now please Smile

goodnightdarthvader1 · 24/01/2016 11:10

37 weeks, can't wake up in the morning without a coffee (even then it's a struggle). Is this normal?

Rufus200 · 24/01/2016 11:16

madsaz meant cold/flu, so other then paracetamol there isn't anything? No sympathy round here. Just explained to DH that he needs to get better asap or he won't be around his newborn son!

I have no energy or inclination to do anything at all! Part of me just wants to go back to bed but nose just blocks when I lie down and then I can't breath! I'm staying out of the nursery so I don't touch anything and spread germs!
