Well, I'm two days off 12 wks, and think I got my first bout of morning sickness this morning!

Just typical. I have a very important, potentially career boosting day at work today and had intended to get up early to wash my hair and get into work in early. Instead I lost my morning cup of tea and then had to sit on the sofa feeling queasy for half an hour. I managed a bowl of porridge, but am now on my way to work on a later train with unwashed hair. Hmm

InsufficientlyCaffeinated · 06/01/2016 09:05

Morning ladies. Sorry to lower the mood so early in the morning but I had a bleed last night. TMI: bright red with small clots. A lot of pain too, like a really bad period pain. The dr got me in really quickly so I'm off there this morning and the bleeding has now gone down to a watery pink so I'm hoping that the worst isn't happening but still have a lot of pain Sad
And to think I'd stopped feeling so anxious with my booking appointment being tomorrow

jemimahpuddleduck · 06/01/2016 09:26

I'm still here, thank you for remembering me Bluebell

My stats are Jemimahpuddleduck, 28, Somerset, DC2, Due 20/06/15

I'm so sorry to hear the recent sad news, I hope both our ladies are being well looked after.

I have my 16 week appointment at 10.00am, will hopefully hear the heartbeat.

I have also had my scan appointment through for 27 Jan so 3 weeks today, we have decided to find out what we are having so I'm very excited!

So lovely seeing all the scan pictures coming through recently.

Cheery1 · 06/01/2016 09:27

insuffuciently that all sounds really scary but as we all know this pregnancy thing is very unpredictable! Glad you're seeing someone ASAP. Will keeping everything crossed for you xxx

jemimahpuddleduck · 06/01/2016 09:28

crossed post with InsufficientlyCaffeinated. I have my fingers firmly corssed for your appointment this morning xx

Bluebell20 · 06/01/2016 09:36

Rose and Scase, very pleased that your scans went well.

Culture, also delighted that your results came back and were good.

Becks, I've got my 16 week appointment next Wednesday and am already bricking it in case she can't find a heartbeat... I have read that having an anterior placenta can make it harder for the midwife to find a heartbeat, and if I then had to wait for a scan to confirm... Argh. I feel like I am hurtling from one thing to worry about to the next!

Magickal, do you want the job? They can't retract the offer just because you're pregnant! Personally, I would accept and tell them straight away - less stressful if it's all out in the open.

Insufficiently, you poor thing, how stressful. Fingers crossed for you. Glad you got an appointment so quickly. Let us know how it goes.

My husband has asked me at least four times in the last two days when the Harmony results are due back (next Monday at the latest, is the answer). He went to ask again this morning but stopped himself because he knew I was getting cross that it isn't SEARED ACROSS HIS BRAIN like it is mine...

In my quest to avoid budgeting and funding application I was looking at guidelines on peanut butter (all the important questions asked here) and the good news is it's fine (mini fist pump, I love peanut butter) BUT they recommend only 4 cups of herbal tea a day?! We have limit herbal tea now?! Anyone else been drinking more than that?!

Vickie360 · 06/01/2016 10:01

Thinking of you insufficently xx

Cheery1 · 06/01/2016 10:03

Cheery1- i think i drink quite a lot of caffein a day, with one of my cravings being coke... And on top of that I drink tea (not herbal) I should probably cut downBlush but I love these drinks!!

Scase glad you're sticking around too! I was amazed that there was a limit on herbal tea! For goodness sake! I was chugging lemon and ginger tea on nauseous days, definitely more than 4 a day. Not going to worry too much, it just seems like they haven't done the medical research to say you can drink more. Another way to scare pregnant ladies!

wantingno2 · 06/01/2016 10:42

Morning everyone fingers crossed for you insufficiently really hope all is okay I've got my scan tomorrow more nervous then ever it at 9:50 so pretty early my mum is coming to stay tonight so she can look after my son in the morning as we live pretty far from the hospital so we will have to leave early I'm not taking him with me because he will be to cranky in the hospital with all the waiting around x

Vickie360 · 06/01/2016 10:51

They don't let children into the room at my hospital when I went for a scan with my dd someone had brought a child and they made the dad wait outside with them while the woman went in on her own! Luckily dd is at school on Friday but I can't wait to tell her she's going to be a big sister fingers crossed

wantingno2 · 06/01/2016 10:59

Ow that's useful to know I wasn't sure if they were aloud in or not im booking a private 16 week scan they let kids in on those I think it's because you've paid for it x

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 06/01/2016 11:08

Insufficiently as you've had red blood they will hopefully get you scanned. Hope everything's ok.

Bluebell any guesses on the sex before your results arrive. What do you think? What have your symptoms been.

I've just had my screening blood results through. Risk is 1 in 6748. That's really good right? I was a bit worried as I'm 35 this month. I think the risk is actually lower than with my first child.

13+5

Bluebell20 · 06/01/2016 11:09

Cheery, the herbal tea thing is definitely just because they haven't done the research. I can't see any reason why drinking lemon and ginger tea could possibly, possibly be bad for the baby!

Scase, have you tried caffeine-free Coke? And Yorkshire Tea do quite a nice decaf builder's tea. No need to stop drinking the drinks, just switch them up for decaf versions :) And you don't have to cut it out completely - the NHS website says you can have two mugs of tea and one can of Coke per day, and still be under the 200mg limit! I'm really glad that I didn't drink caffeine before - I imagine it's very, very hard to give up when knackered and pregnant!

Bluebell20 · 06/01/2016 11:17

Oooo Beautician those results sound really good, especially considering that age is a factor!

Hmmm, I don't know about sex. My gut instinct is girl, but that's only because my husband's family hasn't had a girl born since my MIL's generation. And my husband said his first thought at the scan was that it looked like a girl! (How on earth can it look like a girl?!?!) But one of our mates said he thought it was a boy, and he's guessed right for ALL of our other friends' babies, so...

Are there supposed to be symptoms that are particularly boy/girl-based, then? I was nauseous and knackered for the first eleven weeks, but didn't actually chuck at any point. Went off hot drinks entirely for that period, too. And no real cravings, apart from, you know, FOOD!

Vickie360 · 06/01/2016 11:23

Yes you can usually take children to private scans when my sister had her 4d she took about 4 of us and it was lovely they had a big screen with sofas so we could all watch it was really nice

Vickie360 · 06/01/2016 11:25

I think some nhs do let you take kids I'm sure other people have taken theirs it should say on your scan letter wanting mine was quite clear about no children so if yours doesn't say anything it might be ok x

wantingno2 · 06/01/2016 11:32

Thanks vicki he will be to cranky anyway he hates waiting around so just going to leave him with my mum x

Scase1firsttimemum · 06/01/2016 11:38

Bluebell- I think I should give those a try because Im sure I go over the limit quite a lot Confused

Also, you dont have to answer if you dont want too, but has anyone thought about breast feeding and have you made a definite decision? Id love to breastfeed, but I hate how people in the public react and I dont want to be ridiculed for something thats only natural and being used for what theyre actually for!
