OK Karma, there are 1,300 cards laid face down in front of you, identical on the back but with the numbers 1 - 1,300 on the front. You have one go to pick up number 462. How likely do you think that is?

In other words, you don't get better odds.

when they initially told me the odds i was surprised as i am 45! but as time gone on i sit and think and have doubts! thanks you put it back in proportion

if you look at what the chance of a child having any of the conditions indicated by a high nuchal chance for your age - your odds are very very good.

I already have a little one with down syndrome and am expecting my third. Pre nuchal test I was 1 in 56 for a child with any of the conditions indicated. I am now 1 in 962 - the same as a 26yo and I am 38.

would not trade dd1 for the world. Down syndrome was not the end of our world ( we knew before she was born) but the opening of a whole other amazing world.
