I think I have a bit of a complex too, Indomitable! I was my mum's second daughter. She hadn't found out the sex but was desperate for a boy. So it's as if she wanted me to be a boy Confused we didn't do girly things together, I had a very blue bedroom and she had my hair cut short like a boy's!! I think this is why I love having girly girls, although I also value my daughter's intelligence, sense of humour, kindness etc.

Can't believe I'm still in bed... hope there isn't too much carnage downstairs!

maybebabybee · 23/10/2015 09:39

beautiful I always had my hair short too! Though that's continued into adulthood I have to say, I really hate long hair (on me, not on others).

I would struggle if I had a DD to do all the hair brushing, painting nails stuff as I'm really lax about that kind of thing myself...

BeautifulLiar · 23/10/2015 09:43

I've sort of rebelled and grown my hair Wink yeh I get what you mean. I taught myself how to do hair /make up in the end. Even did my own wedding make up :)

ThePug · 23/10/2015 10:38

Back from my scan and........ we're having a boy!
Absolutely delighted everything looking & measuring well. No idea what we're going to call him though!

March 2016 Babies! Here's thread #5!!
Poppins27 · 23/10/2015 10:44

Morning all, quickly tried catching up on the thread, congratulations all who have had their scans!! Rosie your little lady sounds full of character already!!

I have my scan today so thanks for the prep re maybe exposing myself, that's given me time to 'prepare'. I was horrified last week, had another bleed and was asked to go for a check up to hear for a heartbeat. Wasn't until I got there I was advised id be having and internal...I hadn't pruned myself for a week or so so was slightly BlushAll was well thank fully!!

I have a Dd already and was firmly in the not pink camp originally, lots of navy and red although I have since converted to the blush/rose/baby shades in moderation as she does suit girly every now and again...no frills though. My Dd however is very anti pink, happier than a pig in muck with her dinosaurs, boy friends Star Wars pants and her Halloween outfit request this year is ware wolf!!

Good luck today scan buddy pug, can't remember if yours is early but hope all is well. I'll be waiting until 3.30...Dp is under strict instructions not to be late now too!!

Rosieblossom123 · 23/10/2015 11:01

Pug Congratulations on your baby boy :) he's so cute!!

Poppins haha she is I know, good luck to me!! ha
Good luck with your scan today and to anyone else having their's today too!! Flowers

I'm off on holiday on Sunday, I am allowed to go through the scanners in the airport? I haven't got a clue Confused

ThePug · 23/10/2015 11:08

Good luck poppins - I was so lucky with my early appointment; hope you can make it til 3.30 without getting too giddy! I was screeching at DH to get out of bed and walk the dog this morning because we were going to be late!

Thanks Rosie Yes, going through airport scanners is fine. I went through several times in Europe around the 12 week mark. In the US at 15 weeks I opted out of the full body type ones because you stand in them a bit longer; they say they are fine but I didn't want to risk anything. You can choose not to go through them and just request a pat down search if you'd rather not.

BeautifulLiar · 23/10/2015 11:11

Congratulations Pug!!

QforCucumber · 23/10/2015 11:16

ref the pink stuff I think the child chooses a lot themselves, our little niece LOVES pink, yet her mum and DB and dad are not girly in the slightest, we asked what she wanted for Xmas (she's almost 3) and she said a pink house and some bags and shoes. Never known anything like it haha.

Congratulations pug at least now you know you can try find some names in the boy camp that you may agree on.

Rosieblossom123 · 23/10/2015 11:22

Pug Yeah I might just ask for a pat down search to be honest I don't want to risk anything! Thanks hun :)

maybebabybee · 23/10/2015 11:29

Airport scanners are completely fine rosie, but it's up to you of course.

Rosieblossom123 · 23/10/2015 11:49

Thanks Maybe I might just tell them first then take it from there! So excited and nervous about going on holiday :(

BeautifulLiar · 23/10/2015 11:51

I'm really jealous Rosie!! Thought your holiday must be soon :)

ThePug · 23/10/2015 12:02

Where are you off on holiday Rosie ? Don't forget your notes!

Tonideanna123 · 23/10/2015 12:57

Hello everyone,

Congratulations on all your scans and finding out the sex.

Ive got my next midwife appointment on Tuesday 27th , get to hear little mans heartbeat I love it !!!

You don't get anymore scans now do you after your 20week one ? Unless they think something is wrong

xx

Rosieblossom123 · 23/10/2015 13:07

Beautiful I'm flying on Sunday morning at 3am Shock with dp and my stepson, I hope I can relax I keep thinking what would I do if anything goes wrong?

Pug I'm off to Mallorca (If that's how you spell it haha) Oh yes I actually forget, thank you so much for reminding me hun :) Fx the weather is nice and sunny!

TheMshipIsBack · 23/10/2015 13:39

I never thought about the airport scanners! I'm flying to the USA next week and will have to ask for the opt out of the big full body ones. Thanks for pointing that out!

Rosieblossom123 · 23/10/2015 13:45

Mship that's okay :) I just thought of it today, I remember last year in gatwick I beeped when I went through the scanner so I had to go through the full body rotating one, which to be honest looks scary and I don't think that kind of radiation is safe for baby!

Missikat · 23/10/2015 14:20

Congrats on your little man Pug! Looking forward to hearing your name ideas.

Toni, yep generally that's it for scans now. I'm having one at 36 weeks as I want a VBAC this time so they've agreed to scan me to confirm baby is in the right position to try for a natural delivery (they got it wrong last time and said he was head down when he was actually breech so I'm not taking any chances this time!). Think there are a few other ladies with extra scans to check growth too.

With regards to the boys and girls gender stereotyping I think if we are having a girl this time I will struggle with all the pink and frilly stuff that lots of people buy in the same way i hate that the majority of clothes other people buy for DS are blue and that it's harder to find stuff that doesn't have cars, tractors or dinosaurs on.

It's funny tho that, although we dress DS in a pretty boyish way (he does wear lots of blue as that's what people but him and I'm not turning down free clothes!) because he has quite long blonde hair and big blue eyes people always refer to him as being a girl! The other day he was in a checked shirt, padded gilet, dark blue jeans and blue shoes and a lady in a cafe asked if 'she's a good baby?'. Admittedly most people who think he's a girl are over 60, I guess long hair and blue eyes on boys is not something that's done for the older generation?!

MyNameIsSuz · 23/10/2015 17:19

Yay Pug! Exciting news on your boy!

Paperblank · 23/10/2015 17:27

I'm feeling left out!! I don't know what I'm having!!!!

But what a wonderful surprise, Paper!

QforCucumber · 23/10/2015 18:04

You and me both paper roll on March haha!

magpiedreams · 23/10/2015 18:10

paper and q I won't be finding out either, although I would quite like to DH really doesn't and I probably don't care enough to try to persuade him. I guess if he doesn't make it to the scan for some reason I might end up finding out!

Congrats on all the other lovely scans.

vroc81 · 23/10/2015 18:56

Congrats on your little boy Pug!!

Paper and Q, it might have been better if I hadn't found out... I've been internet shopping today... Blush
