Hi I just thought I would start a little thred for those who ride horses avidly or as a profession and have continued to during pregnancy. How far along are you when/if you intend to stop. Seems such a shame not to enjoy the dimmer riding with weather like this! I'm only 5+3 weeks so I've still got plenty of time left in the saddle for me. I rode with my DS up until 7months that's was at a casual and relaxed I stopped riding competitively at 9 weeks. Tell me your horsey stories and baby. Promise no judging here just support tips and personal experiences.

As I had sustained serious head injuries after falling from my horse five years before my first pregnancy, my risk assessment was obviously heavily influenced by that and I decided that it was not worth the risk so did not ride during either pregnancy. Mind you my husband rode both our horses and now both DS and DD have the 'horse gene' and we have three times as many equines! I was so tired during the first trimester and had such bad morning sickness that anyway I would not have had the energy to ride as I was also working full time and driving over 500 business miles a month. As with most aspects of parenting 'each to their own' (although as I am now farming and move heaven and earth to ensure that lambs, foals and calves get their colostrum, I passionately believe that every baby has the right to his/her colostrum in the first 24-48 hours of life...)
All the very best - listen to your body/mind as it is doing the great job and I suspect that the more one cooperates during pregnancy the less likely it is to immobilise you with pain during delivery!
