The last one was getting too long again. There's just no stopping us!

OP posts:

Ditto Eli, I was just thinking about you Lucy. I wonder if you will have your baby today. Hope it goes well.

Did you get back to sleep, Eli? I had a rough night and wondered at one point if I should log onto MN for a chat.

castlesintheair · 08/11/2006 09:40

Hilarious Baretoes!!!

I don't want to eat ANYTHING. I've felt like this for ages now. I have to force myself to eat some toast each day and that's about all I can manage. I eat fruit when the DCs are having their meals to keep them company. How weird is that?!

jabberwocky · 08/11/2006 09:55

Managed to control my junk food intake yesterday. I'm sooo determined not to gain as much as last time...but it's going to be close.

It's almost 4:00 am here Slept pretty good until 3 then had to get up to check the elections. It's still too close to call in 2 states but our guy lost in TN. Very sad about that.

I called anesthesia to set up my consult yesterday. Tbh, I'm more anxious about that than anything else. I hated the shivering from the epidural last time and it seems there's nothing they can do about it. The nurse I talked to said they do spinals on 80% of their c-sections . I told her I would completely freak out if the bottom half of my body was paraylyzed for any amount of time.

Lucy, thinking of you today.

Elibean · 08/11/2006 10:10

Jabber, wondered if you'd be up with the elections...wish I could help re the spinal, but as far as I know do'nt they use spinals for all planned sections? I wonder if they can modify the meds to combat the shivering thing? Keep at them today till they come up with a plan that makes you feel better...

Castles, I wonder why you're not hungry...bug? Worries? Poor you...hmm; I do know that my tranny is squishing my guts on either side, and although I can walk much more easily than I could with a head-down dd I can't sleep or eat as well. I did go back to sleep for 2 hours, then dd started coughing, and once I'd been up wit her for a bit I was itching again....so all in all, about 5 hours tops. Am itching badly this morning, still - its getting worse - have posted for help in the pg section, even the inside of my ears itch.

I'm eating a weird mixture of occasinoal junk (had a craving for crisps yesterday) and mega amounts of raw veggies. I make a plate of raw veggies for dd to chew on before supper most evenings (while she has her daily quota of dvd) and she loves it - plus it stops me worrying about whether she eats veggies at meal tims or not. And the last few weeks, I've been cramming them into my mouth as though I was thirsty for them - weird or what! Makes me feel less guilty about the daily chocolate....

jabberwocky · 08/11/2006 10:19

Eli, I'm planning to go for an epidural, which they can do also. It just shocked and frightened me that the majority are spinals and not epidurals.

I've been doing carrots and celery at lunch a couple of days a week. I'm thinking now it needs to be every day!

Elections around here have gotten sooo tense. TN just passed a one-man, one-woman marriage amendment. Too conservative for me!

jabberwocky · 08/11/2006 10:20

Re the meds, that's what I was thinking. I mean, it seems like there could be something they could tweak to help out. I get the feeling they just don't care. Everyone just says "Oh, it's a common reaction"

Elibean · 08/11/2006 10:22

Ah, I see....well, they should be able to give you the choice, shouldn't they? If you have history of bad reaction to spinal? Hope it goes well at your apt!

And ugh to the TN news - too conservative for me, too.

Imagine how tense it will be in 2008

Elibean · 08/11/2006 10:23

ok, now I'm craving raw broccoli...

J, if they say 'its a common reaction' I'd say 'well I don't want it to become common for ME, so what can we do about it?!'

jabberwocky · 08/11/2006 10:24

Tell me about it. I can remember when i was a child, you pretty much always knew who was going to win ahead of time. Now it is within 1 or 2 percentage points every time! A total nail biter. We really are two countries trying to coexist as one.

jabberwocky · 08/11/2006 10:25

Good one! I also feel like saying "Has it happened to you then?" grrrrr

Out of all of the awful, horrible things that happened during ds's birth - and there were a lot - the shivering has stuck in my mind all these years.

Elibean · 08/11/2006 10:26

Yep. We were away during the last ones, I remember the recount on SKY - agonizing and infuriating, and thats for us far-away Brits! Must go get that broccoli...or maybe some raw cauliflower....

jabberwocky · 08/11/2006 10:29

I'm headed back to bed for another shot at some sleep...

spinamum · 08/11/2006 10:37

Good luck Lucy!

I'm glad (sorry for my selfishness) that I'm not the only one not eating text book pg food. I am trying, but I've gone from being mad about food(pre pg) and in particular healthy food to just wanting to eat junk ---or nothing at all! I don't have the enthusiasm to cook anything

I hope my love of food comes back. I miss liking to eat.

Eli,sorry you didn't get a good nights sleep. I'm sure to be joining the night thread in a few weeks/days time. So glad I found MN! Last time I just had my camomile tea and crap telly!

spinamum · 08/11/2006 10:40

Oh sorry Jabber. Meant to say I hope you get some more support about the spinal. I had shivering after ds's birth but I didn't link it to the epidural but maybe....

Hope you get some sleep too!

lucy5 · 08/11/2006 16:23

Hello all! good news and bad news! good news protein levels are down bad news i'm still here!!!!!! I have loads of appointments next week, so it could be any day but noone is giving anything away! I almost knew it wouldn't happen but am still a little peed off that it didn't.

Eli, thanks I got the magazine today!
Magnolia you are a BABE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes,I will keep you posted. I will try and catch up with all of the posts later xxx

accessorizequeen · 08/11/2006 16:29

jabber, spoke to an anesthatist a few weeks ago - he told me the same thing (as I had horrible shivering with e-section too) but that if they weren't in a hurry putting it in more slowly over a longer period at room temp might combat the problem so it's on my notes in case I end up with section (but only if it's not emergency emergency iykwim). As yours is an elective, you'd think they could try that? Am I imagining someone mentioning a bit of demerol in with the spinal as well?? Worth insisting on them trying some different options, I think - did you get to hold ds, I didn't as shivering too much & wld be very upset if it happens again, I want to hold my baby.
Lucy, thinking of you!

castlesintheair · 08/11/2006 16:41

Well done Lucy! Or is that commiserations Must be hard when you get all psyched up.

Jabber, I think we spoke about this before but I had shivering/throwing up etc after DS1. Told them about it with DD (which was an elective) and they did something - don't ask me what though - and I wasn't sick or shivery. And, yes, AQ, I got to hold her straightaway & bf. My BP still dropped dramatically but they adjusted that pronto. Could it be something to do with low bp I wonder, as you are a sufferer too aren't you AQ?

lucy5 · 08/11/2006 16:56

I also had the indignity of something called the Granada Test today, I never had this in UK, a test for strep B. fetishists [is that a real word] would pay a fortune for it

VanillaMilkshake · 08/11/2006 17:05

Hi Lucy - Oh well, good news and bad news - fingers crossed you get your way soon.

On top of scoffing teackes DD and I had fun making chocolate marshmallow fondu this afternoon and are both completely stuffed! No tea for us - then we did go to Chiquito's for lunch as a stop gap between me finishing work and the mortgage interview.

Silly woman in the consultants told me the wrong figure over the phone but refused to admit it in the interview even though I had the notes I took. How can £59 sound like £83?? Still for all the difference it needs to be done.

My jaws are aching, will be seing the denitist next week, and I have a good dental hygene routine but dread the thought of dental work - and cost Anyone else got achy jaws, I have a bit of a sniffle as well so hoping its a pregnancy/sinus related problem and nothing else!

VanillaMilkshake · 08/11/2006 17:06

Meant to say Lucy I want a Strep B test but apparently it's not a routine thing over here - will have to ask MW on Satuurday.

judemum · 08/11/2006 17:10

vanilla
you should be able to get the dental work for free with your maternity exemption card. that is, if you can find an nhs dentist. I have all my dental work done when I'm preggers

Lucy- hope you're feeling ok- what a day for you, but I suppose every day baby stays in is better for him/her.

Someone said lower down that their appetite has gone and mine has too. Very odd and not like me at all. Still, have managed to put on 2.5 stone since got pg, so not going to worry

VanillaMilkshake · 08/11/2006 17:43

Jm, have just registered the whole family with a private dentist - who is also an NHS dentist but has no NHS places. Hoping they will look at my round belly and take pity.
Actually am hoping that there are no actual problems as I can't feel the sensations all the time - keep your fingers crossed for me girls.

Indith · 08/11/2006 17:45

NHS dentist Jude, whats one of those then? I thought they were long extinct mythical beings or something!

I don't want to go to Guides! I'm tired! My ribs hurt (argument between me, the floor and the sharp corner of the chair....I lost) and I do not want to go deal with a bunch of hormonal idiots even if we are having a campfire. Someone pat me on the head and tell me I don't have to go, I could even pretend its true for all of 20 mins before I leave the house. (but we are making chocolate apples with sprinkles!

Glad to see you are still with us Lucy!

Vanilla I hereby challange you to a dual for your fondu.

VanillaMilkshake · 08/11/2006 17:50

Indith, I concede to your challange and hereby offer you the remaining two choclate coated marchmallows. DD and I are stuffed full of them and DH being male and not needing a sweet tooth for survival has tried one and said he doesnt see what was so important about us having to make them! Men!

Indith · 08/11/2006 17:57

Thank you Vanilla. And with that extra sugar boost I will get off my arse, find my uniform and go burn some children.

(love my girls really!)
