The last one was getting too long again. There's just no stopping us!

I don't want to go and choose flooring with DH. {stomps feet}We're getting on so well at moment. We'll end up having a big argument in Homebase (or equiv.) Yes i know I'm not the most practical when it comes to decorating decisions(prefering things to look nice too),but I don't see the point in buying some flooring cos it's on SALE(and "it'll do" and hating it til we replace it.) Not that I'm planning to spend stupid ammounts on money on it either!

OH. It's not fair. None of the woman in the pg books have flooring issues. They're all eating well balanced meals, while the DP/DH give them back rubs and they are taking time to relax before the "life changing experience".GRRRRRRR!

annaspanner · 19/11/2006 15:32

Spina and Jabbyw, I'm so glad it's not just me! I spent a lot of Friday in tears because although I finished my main job on Thurs, the building work (changing a landing into a nursery, which involved major structural changes...but was started in July) is still going on. A friend helping DP out with changes on front door(to get buggy in and out) sat him down and told him the house as it was, with tools and rubble throughout, was definitely not ready for a baby-and my due date is a week Friday. All I can do is to clean every day but it just gets covered in dust and plaster again. It does look a bit nearer the end today(maybe I can put stuff in the nursery tmw and clean up a bit) but knowing that if it all started now the place isn't clean enough for a baby makes me feel terrible, like an irresponsible mother. God, I'm already feeling guilt and the child hasn't arrived yet.
Sorry, big winge, but it's hard to contain that nesting instinct.
I just want these 2 weeks to focus on the birth, which is freaking me out a fair bit, and everything that comes afterwards.

castlesintheair · 19/11/2006 17:42

Jabber, I've meant to ask before what do you do? Tell me to stop being nosey, but sorry I am - 20 patients sounds like an awful lot in a day. Very curious!

Up all night with vomitting DD, then she had raging temperature. Then woken by both DCs bouncing on my bed (where they had both slept the night) full of beans at 5.30am !!!!! Things can only get better, 2 weeks on Wednesday

Elibean · 19/11/2006 18:41

Sympathies to all those with house stuff to fix/do pre d-day...had that with dd1, very stressful. As it is, all our appliances seem to have decided to fuse/blow up/die which, weirdly, they did around the time of dd's birth too freezer fan, shower pump, and (horrors)computer looked like it had died this morning: blue screen of death but its recovered, for now.

I'm almost sure Bump has turned tranny again - Castles, she must have heard you
So sorry dd is/was sick - sounds exhausting for you and nasty for her. My own dd is still waking 2-3 tims per night wanting reassurance, or coughing, or sneezing, but goes back to sleep fast - if only we all could, eh.

Very off topic, but...my friend's brand new ds is in hospital with septicaemia, on IV ABs and very sick. He's only 4 weeks old I wish I could do something to help. Scary.

jabberwocky · 19/11/2006 20:02

anna, I can totally sympathize. Dh left everything really late with ds (and still pretty late with this one!). I can remember our upstairs being painted while I was 38 weeks and dh still expecting me to help carry things up and down the stairs. At one point I just burst into tears saying "You've waited too late. I can't do this anymore." This time around he has been a little better, but not much.

castles, I don't mind you asking at all. I'm an optometrist and I don't have my own practice anymore. Instead I fill in for other dr's on their day off. It works out well in general, but it also puts me at the mercy of a lot of different scheduling ideas. This particular office tends to be very much volume-oriented. Those 20 patients would have been a very full 8 hour day, but instead it was in 4 1/2 hours! Luckily, since I've been doing this for 17 years, I feel like I gave pretty good care but it's certainly not my preferred mode of practice by any means. Afterwards, I let them know that this really couldn't be a regular way of doing things as I'll be going back there 1 day a week after maternity leave.

VanillaMilkshake · 19/11/2006 20:11

HI All,

Sorry to hear of all the problems, both PG and home related. And Eli, your poor friend .
Hugs to all for resolution ASAP (())

All three of us have colds. DD is worst and very clingy, have dosed her up with Medised at 7 so by 11 if she coughing can do Tixylix, also applied olbas oil to her pillow, vicks to her chest and chapstick to her lips. DH and I just get on with nose blowing and groaning.

Have 8 pieces of banoffee Cheesecake going if anyone is interested in a virtual slice - else I haev just 2 days to clear it [eyes bigger than squashed up belly emoticon].

Beaker123 · 19/11/2006 20:23

Yum, cheesecake. I was sick tonight. Not sure why but think I ate too much even though I barely ate anything. I've only got just less than 3 weeks to go but get the feeling they're going to drag.

And what is with the weather tonight? I thought I'd walk to our little local shop and get some milk and opened the door and it is gale force winds and rain. Forget that - I sent DH!

Eli, so sorry to hear about your friends' baby. Hope he is on the mend soon.

VanillaMilkshake · 19/11/2006 20:27

Oh has anyone got or used a Tony Montana baby carrier/sling.

SIL sent one today with the IL's but there are no instructions. It seems to have some sort of jacket/cover thing to keep baby warm - or it could be for my shopping?? Also what with the white muslin like stuff on the inside?? Any help with how it goes tog ether would be appreciated - I never used one at all with DD and am completely clueless.

Should I post this on products as well - do you think anyone on there could help?

VanillaMilkshake · 19/11/2006 20:27

that's Tomy, not Tony

satinshoes · 19/11/2006 20:56

VM - Try here and if not there then you should be able to call them and get some instructions sent to you.

The white muslin thing is a sick catcher i think. lol. I had a tomy carrier with dd but barely used it as i broke my arm. sure that's what is was for....

VanillaMilkshake · 19/11/2006 21:04

Thanx Satinshoes no mention of the pruduct but I have got the number to call . Aha! A sick catcher - I thought that was what I would be using my saggy cleavage for

jabberwocky · 20/11/2006 01:52

Eli, so sorry I missed reading about your friend's lo. Hope he gets better soon.

babypowder · 20/11/2006 08:52

Eli, hope your friend's LO is on the mend.

2 weeks of work to go! I really hope it flies in. Unfortunately, my childminder got another job on Friday - starting today - so DD has had to go to a different CM for the next fortnight. The combination of a clingy, teary 4 year old being left with someone new and a hormonal, emotional 35 week pregnant mum is not conducive to life change! I thought between the two of us we were going to flood the CM's hallway . I console myself with the fact that in 2 weeks DD will be with me full time, and on her own for 3 weeks (with any luck!!) before LO comes along.
Made a list for my hospital bag this weekend and suddenly realised how much I still had to get. Must go shopping at lunch time ... you can tell how committed I am to these last 2 weeks!

spinasnowflake · 20/11/2006 09:25

Eli. Hope your friend's LO is on the mend soon.

I'm having sick day today! Decided that since I'm having practice labour pains,I'll have a practice mat leave! TBH I've being feeling weird all weekend. My BH really hurt(what a wimp!) I also think I'm beginning to get stressed about everything. Feel like I'd got LOADS to do and not sure when I'm going to do it.[panic emoticon!] Must pack my bag today. At least that'll be something! Feel like I feel when I'm becoming depressed, but hope not. Duvet day should sort it out.

Beaker123 · 20/11/2006 09:31

All of you with weeks left to work, I feel bad now for being done already. But that does leave me with less than 3 weeks until underbunny (our nickname for whatever we're having) arrives. Have lazed around this morning and realised I need to readjust the times the heating is on!

Off to John Lewis today to traipse around with a friend for a few bits for the nursery. Unfortunately for my credit card it is dangerously close to Selfridges so shall be venturing into the food hall at the very least!

Hope everyone is feeling ok.

magnolia1 · 20/11/2006 09:45

Oh Blimey ladies!!!! Can't you tell we are all nearing the end, I forgot how stressful the last bit of pregnancy can be. With dd4 I was 33 weeks so didn't really have the end and the twins were 35 weeks, dd1 was 38 so this is the longest I have been pregnant since my 1st 11 years ago

Dh is absolouley st*tting himself that I will go into labour (which will result in heavy bleeding) Been having lots of period pains and baby movements slowed down. He wants me to ask consultant to bring c section forward a week.

As for the nesting thing, Dh put wood flooring down in the hall and downstairs toilet but it went wrong in the toilet so needs to be pulled up and redone!! But its still waiting after 4 weeks
The garden still isn' quite secure enough to stop the dogs from jumping (what if they bolt when i am at home with baby, can't imaging running out to the field witth newborn just o get dogs back )
Having animals, I have de flead the whole house and the cats/dogs just to be on the safe side butt that means hoovering every inch of the house
Packed my bag but don't have pj's yet or a nursing bra or big knickers or toiletries. ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH ITS A BLOODY NIGHTMARE ISN'T IT
Eli: Hope your friends lo recovers quickly xxx

spinasnowflake · 20/11/2006 09:53

Just thought I'd add in defence of bosses/line maangers, I've just spoken to mine and he's being a babe about my duvet day. Told him that as well as feeling poo, I was having contractions that hurt. We have had a giggle about towels and hot water for Wednesday when I'm back! It's nice that he's so understanding. The last thing I need is guilt about taking a day off. I know legally they have to be supportive but it was nice to be able to be fairly honest that I wasn't at deaths door, but decided a day of plodding was best for me and Bean.
Despite the BH I'm still on my raspberry tea. It's not supposed to bring labour on early anyway. I'm floating between feeling like I might not go overdue and accepting that I'll have a Jan baby!Confused

spinasnowflake · 20/11/2006 09:56

Magnolia,I really do feel like a wimp! Four kids, dogs, cats and SPD as well as your c-s looming. I'm taking a day off cos I've got cramps(well shooting pains!) and a headache!

castlesintheair · 20/11/2006 10:01

Oh yes, it is getting STRESSFUL isn't it??? I don't remember it being like this before and I got to 38/9 weeks with my previous pgs.

DCs waking up the whole effing time now. Probably colds but still. DD really grumpy (screaming ) when we take DS to school & pick up then lovely rest of time. Just wants to snuggle me - aaawwwwwww! I am absolutely shattered, in pain with my big tranny baby and I KNOW it is going to be hard when "it" comes but I am SOOOOOO looking forward to getting "it" out.

Eli, sorry to hear about your friend's LO .
Magnolia, in the nicest possible way, I always feel better to hear from you with your big squad of DCs, dawgs, cats, DH's haphazard DIY ... makes my just 3 DCs2B seem a doddle . I hope you get your c-section earlier. It must be really worrying for you all though I am sure everything will be fine

I'm stressing about mine. I think it's because I've had it so easy before, DCs have been so healthy etc and I've gone all superstitious in my old age.

judemum · 20/11/2006 10:01

Morning all- Spina, good on you- I've had a couple of duvet days and they do wonders for your sanity. Am sure BH are worse when you are tired and stressed so am sure you'll feel better tomorrow. Eli- really sorry about your friends's LO. Very hard. Hope all turns out ok.
So, I think its just me, Jabber and Spina still at work for 2 weeks?? Is this right. In a way I don't mind too much as at least I'm sat down and my boss is quite chilled, but it would be nice to go and home and do all the jobs I need to do...

VanillaMilkshake · 20/11/2006 10:01

Hi All,

Spina - enjoy your time off work, very jealous he is so understanding. When I was off 'sick' a few weeks ago my idiot boss actually asked me if Abbey could start my leave - pig!

On the walk (waddle) back from pre-school today I debated wether to sleep or do laundry when I got home....as you can see neither activoty won the arguement. Altough if I put the stereo on and play some S.A.W. (DH's not mine) I might have a bit of energy to maybe throw some stuff away or at least sort through the Christmas presents for DD and decide what goes in her stocking or under the tree etc.

Am still in my cooking/baking element and have promised DH Cream of Sweetcorn soup for tea with crusty bread. DD just wants cakes .

Anyway lets got plug the stereo in!

judemum · 20/11/2006 10:04

Also must just add that DH took me away for our last w/e together before DS2- we had a lovely time. Lay in the bath reading magazines with a face masque on. Tried to shave legs, but impossible to reach and had a lovely meal and a lie in on Sunday. Bliss, bliss. However, MIL was looking after DS1 at our house and rang us on Sunday monring to say she had broken the front door!!!! . She has somehow managed to snap the door handle off- she's only tiny . DH was furious, but it got fixed in the end. The woamn is a liability.

castlesintheair · 20/11/2006 10:05

Judemum, if it's any consolation, I am at home and managing to get eff all done!

Gloria42 · 20/11/2006 10:05

Hey Judemum, I'm still working too , for another 4 weeks in fact. Although whether the time i spend reading all your posts counts as work i'm not sure!!!

judemum · 20/11/2006 10:05

VMS- fancy coming round to mine and cooking???!!
