The last one was getting too long again. There's just no stopping us!

OMG, she's turned

Went for bp check (ok, but not great - getting a bit borderline) and asked MW to have a feel. She got u/s machine and another MW just to make sure - because to look at me, she's still tranny (done a good job of stretching me sideways). Sure enough, one little head down, and back to my front, perfect. I'm amazed - my OB will be utterly gobsmacked. Plus, I'd given up on OFP at least a week ago and have been slobbing in whatever position most comfortable last few days - obviously did the trick

Though of course if she can still turn, she may well turn back...

So on Tuesday, will have to re-make decisions about section or not, when if so, etc. Lots will depend on BP now, and on blood tests for the itching (which is still getting worse, now on hands and feet at night).

And on the more serious subject of belly buttons - mine has been an outrageously outed outie since about 20 weeks this time, so def. not related to size of baby!

Medium sized boobs, not much milk (had to express a lot to get production up, esp. on one side which is quite lumpy/cystic) and here's my tip: do not do as I did and sit, befuddled with lack of sleep, expressing in front of the TV in the bay window of your street-facing sitting room with lights on on a dim winter's afternoon....still can't face the neighbours...

castlesintheair · 17/11/2006 18:57

x-posts! That's brilliant Eli. I think At least you have the option for a vb if you want. Quite as I've been told "no way" even if LO has turned. Did you not feel her turn? I wonder if she'll turn back??

Elibean · 17/11/2006 19:36

Thanks....though do feel quite mixed about it, having had a plan. Also, it would be a VBAC and with the BP and itching issues have a feeling its not going to be clear cut even if she doens't turn...but OB visit on Tuesday will help clarify. Why no way for you, Castles? Is it due to bicornuate?

I did feel her turn - one almighty kick in the side, followed by feeling of relief in that side for me, as though I suddenly had room to breathe there. Lying down became more comfortable. All that in between dd crying for Mummy and me getting up to scratch for the millionth time - is this a taste of life with two kids?

But I thought she had gone breech - thought I could feel feet low down, but must have been hands

spinamum · 17/11/2006 21:41

Congrats Eli! Well down EliBump! Even though it's not straight forward as you said. Is it ever?

castlesintheair · 17/11/2006 21:44

I've been told I can't have a VB after 2 c-sections as the risk of the scar tearing in labour is doubled. My doula said it's possible but I would have to find an independent m/w who will help me have a home birth and frankly I'm not prepared to take the risk. Chances are I'd end up having an emergency.

It must be frustrating when you have a plan and then it's all up in the air again. Maybe by Tuesday she'll have flipped back again

VanillaMilkshake · 17/11/2006 22:02

Evening all, Eli I am so pleased your bump has turned .

Going pack to pet peeves. I have 2 MW, one i trust completely as she;s been around a bit and is actually a 'Supervisor of MW's' The other who is very nice, but cautionary - she got me sent to labour ward and she wrote on my notes about the 3rd nipple thing - both of which caused me loads of stress and anxiety - not to mention many tears! I try to avoid her now for anything but pure routine stuff.

Also about stuff being written on notes. When I had MC in Feb this year, I was offered an internal scan, after the enternal showed clear to establish it had been a full loss - but she told me it was unlikely to yield any conclusive results. As I was in a bit of mess, lots of blood etc. I declined. When the doctor came to see me later he asked why I had refused so I told him I did so because she said it was unlikely to show anything different. He went balistic - said I was not at fault and that she had been in the wrong to sway my decision. He then looked at the time of the scan and realised I had been her last patient of the day - the EPAU ward closes at 1pm, and I had seen her at 1.15pm, so he assumed she had done this so she could leave. Long story - but I thought a bit relevant to what you say and what they actually write.

VanillaMilkshake · 17/11/2006 22:04

God that sounds awful 'been around a bit' ! She;d brain me if she saw that. What I meant to say is she;s been in the role of MW for a number of years and has a similar experience to me - re MC.

Also should mention my leg cramps have been coming back today. Had to spend an hour in bed between 6.30 and 7.30 tonight just to get it to go away. Joined by DD who thought it was funny for mummy to go to bed first, and promptly nodded off beside me!

spinamum · 17/11/2006 22:10

I've regularly being going to bed at same time as DS1 (in Mummy and Daddy's bed.) Dh then removes DS later and ends up sleeping in the spare room when my snoring gets too much so i'm the only one who wakes up in original bed (three times a night due to toilet trips)

Beaker123 · 17/11/2006 22:30

All I've done today is eat. Finally finished up at work at around 7 and then met dh in town. It was nice and sort of a realisation that it was the last Friday night we'll be going out straight from work together for a long, long time. We're both ready (I hope!) for the change but after wanting it for so long and suffering our loss last year it is hard to believe it's finally happening. We went out for dinner and it was really nice.

Glad to hear your baby has turned, Eli. That must be a big relief.

VanillaMilkshake · 17/11/2006 22:37

I am in full nesting mode - trying to feed family all home made stuff. made lovely soup tonight, half of which has been frozen.

Tomorrow I am making shortbread and banana bread and doing a stir fry.

Will also be wrapping nieces Christmas pressies so IL's can take them back on Sunday and put them in thier spare room as opposed to our nursery!

VanillaMilkshake · 17/11/2006 22:37

Sorry that was supposed to bear relevnce to beakers post about eating, but got side tracked!

Elibean · 18/11/2006 10:06

Morning all,

You lot sound like great cooks - would love to do an MN December antenatal-thread crawl and sample a bit from each

Thanks re Bump turning - funnily enough, as I got off the computer last night, it felt as though she turned back???!? But not sure - I'm hopeless at feeling babies in my own belly, no idea really. Do think bump still narrower than it was, but will see on Tuesday...

BF coming today for 'final' hanging out session...DHs taking LOs to Kew Gardens while we doss at home, drink tea, and sort clothes: bliss...and probably all I'm capable of, feel like a giant slug...

Elibean · 18/11/2006 10:06

Beaker, congrats on last day at work!

Elibean · 18/11/2006 10:07

Castles, I wouldn't take the risk either - agree with you. And have a feeling I'll be ending up with a section anyway. At least I can lie on my left side without feeling like I'm squashing someone's head meantime...how's your Bump shape feeling?

VanillaMilkshake · 18/11/2006 12:02

last night my bump kicked me to pieces for lying on left side, but it's the best position for my legs . No more comfortable nights! And the worse thing is that after baby comes, nights are disturbed for a whole new reason, ah well - we all knew this before geting ourselves into this predicament

Have made shortbread this morning, and it has DD's approval who has eaten several pieces. DH phoned to say he'll be home soon - but if he doesnt hurry there'll be no biscuits left.

Beaker123 · 18/11/2006 12:18

I'm clearly insane because we're having a dinner party tonight. I went out early and bought everything and dh will do most of the cooking though I've got to do pudding (rhubarb and cinnamon flan) which isn't too bad. I can manage that! I am missing drinking though. Not that I was an alcoholic before but a few glasses of wine on a Saturday night was our normal thing to do.

Feels weird knowing I don't have to get up for work on Monday. But given I barely slept last night owing to the relentless kicking I was receiving I'd say not working is a good thing.

Loulou000 · 18/11/2006 12:25

I've been having the odd glass of red wine the last few weeks. Is this terrible? Didn't have anything much for the first two trimesters, at least.

Calmriver · 18/11/2006 16:42

Is anyone getting period pain at the moment..?

VanillaMilkshake · 18/11/2006 16:56

CR, I get the odd cramp, but if anything i notice BH a lot more now as my belly goes so tight.

So much for the 26 pieces of shortbread I made this monring - obviously a success with DD as there are 4 pieces left, which I have had to hide so her daddy can have some - then again what better compliment can you get from your child about your cooking.

Elibean · 18/11/2006 18:00

CR, I have had some periody pains - especially yesterday, which is why I suspected bump was head down. None today though

castlesintheair · 18/11/2006 19:40

Evenin' all

CR I am having period pains on and off and BH. I wonder if it is things starting as I didn't have it before.

Eli, my shape is the same. Head bursting out under my boobs or on my RHS, feet on my LHS. I can't believe it's turned! I also can't believe I am the lonesome tranny

DH has taken DCs to see ILs and it is so weird being alone in the house all day. Soooo quiet. Had a 3 hour sleep this arvo and don't know what to do with myself really. What did I do BC? I can't remember ...

jabberwocky · 18/11/2006 19:40

loulou, I've been doing the same re: wine. Did it with ds as well. I think as long as you are careful not to overdo it, it's fine and sometimes it really relaxes me after a hard work day.

So how many of us are having sections then?

castlesintheair · 18/11/2006 19:44

LouLou, IMO it's not a problem to drink a bit during pg if you fancy it. In Italy women are encouraged to have a glass of red every night for 9 months. I haven't fancied it much at all this time. I did with DD more and she turned out fine ... well, very healthy, just a bit feisty. Didn't drink anything with DS either except around Xmas (he is a Feb baby) when I had a fair bit of champers. Maybe this one is a boy as well.

castlesintheair · 18/11/2006 19:45

Jabber, I'm definitely having a c-section.

jabberwocky · 18/11/2006 19:55

Okay, so

me
castles
possibly eli
magnolia

Seems like I'm forgetting someone...
