The last one was getting too long again. There's just no stopping us!

Hi All,

Not bored, but very tired.

DH got home from home from work and took us to the shopping centre to let DD see the Christmas display, get his mum's vouchers and buy the head hugger we need (whoever gave me the tip about getting it new from Mothercare rather than e-bay - Thank you!) Also picked up some bottles and teet incase BF doesnt work. And found Mothercare now sell backyardigans toys, so used part of the vouchers from work to add a 'Singin Cowboy Tyrone' to DD's Christmas haul!

Then we spoiled DD some more by giving her a go on the Carousel and taking her to see Father Christmas - early I know but we wont get the chance again this year as that's the last time we're going near the shops! Not too-bad-a-santa, a bit skinny and young, and no Ho Ho Ho! But very friendly and chatty to an uncharacteristically shy 3-yr old. And for our £6.50 she got to choose a toy from his 'workshop'. Mummy looked at the plastic princess dressing up tack and said - we like puzzles so DD got a Raymond Briggs Snowman puzzle and the elf gave her a bubble set as well. But for all the money spent taking her on and into these things she was more impressed throwing coins in to the pool full of pennies and watching the animatronic mermaids!

Anyway after such a nice time DD is now watching Peter Pan and eating some Heroes while I have some me time on the computer and daddy goes to bed for a couple of hours catch-up.

Castles, you're brilliant - can I hire you as my personal health advisor please?! Will see if I can get dh to source me some hawthorn....cream of tartar, oh yuck, but if it works... Thanks!

VM, I slept better last night - chant again, please! Also discovered that menthol aqueous cream is really good for the itching....see if you can get some, if it gets bad again...

My mother is staying, I'm knackered.

Elibean · 15/11/2006 15:56

VM, forgot to say - 140/80 is ok for me if it stays there, but thats first thing in the morning. Later on in the afternoon/evening, its creeping up as high as 155....if it hits 160 I have to go in to talk medication.

I was hopeful this time, because mid pg it was consistently low: 120/62ish...brilliant, for me! But last time with dd, it started to climb at this stage, I was induced at 39+ weeks, and had postpartum sudden surge which needed re-admittance to hospital for five days to get it under control, followed by six weeks of meds. Was a bit scary, dont' fancy a repeat.

castlesintheair · 15/11/2006 16:04

Eli & other tranny/breech ladies, just had my doula round and she gave me some advice on how to turn your baby, if you are interested. Pinch your small toe really hard or go & see a reflexologist and they will do it; lie on a plank of wood (yes!) on your front head down and; (it gets better) shine a torch at your pelvis to encourage baby to head that way Sorry but I have to laugh. Though I am sure there is something in the toe pinching/reflexology.

Calmriver · 15/11/2006 16:15

Yes, Bp is supposed to drop during sections, but if it drops too far like mine did, they squirt saline up your drip, which then rises your BP. Mine dropped twice in op, so double the dose of saline left me with high BP just after.

So, what to have for dinner tonight....MMM!? Any nice ideas welcome.
It's only the middle of the month and our cupboards are looking bare!

Calmriver · 15/11/2006 16:17

Rocking on all fours is supposed to work!

judemum · 15/11/2006 16:24

we're having fish and chips from the van that comes to the village every weds! this means I don't have to cook and can instead pack my hospital bag and DS1's hospital bag and generally faff around for a change.

VanillaMilkshake · 15/11/2006 16:53

We are having pie or sausage and mash - yum

have just done my tsco order for next week and one through my Hamlyn cookbook as I did so. So next week it will be all home made soups, lasagnes and stir frys!!! As long as I retain some level of energy. And where I ahve the ingreidients I shall be cooking double and freezing too!

After seeing Miao's thread about getting a months shop for about £98 I was inspired. Still spent £64 though. However that includes the delivery charge and stocking up on stocks and herbs - which will last me for a few weeks. It's a start - it fills the freezer and gets good wholesome food into DH and DD.

Am worried about DH as he's getting grief at work (all of his colleagues are from a very unpopular management) so sent him for a very long sleep this afternoon (over 2 hours). Am trying to convince him not to blow his stack at work as that means neither of us will be working. He says that wont happen, but I have only ever seen him loose his cool twice in the 11+ years we've been together. It takes a lot to get him boiling - but when he go's...stand back!

Anyway best go peel the spuds!

Elibean · 15/11/2006 17:30

We're having orange tarragon chicken, courtesy of my post-natal doula who has a catering business and dropped some frozen food in for us this morning (supposedly for post birth, but as we're feeling lazy..)

A cut above fish fingers, the alternative

CR, will make sure no one squirts saline up my drip then, urgh!

Castles, ing with you....have rocked on all fours, bounced on birth ball, shone torches, had dh talk loudly to my pubic bone (all that with dd1, first two with this one) and total waste of time. I guess it depends on reason for tranny in first place: a heartshaped uterus, and no amount of toe pinching is likely to turn that baby! Still, like hearing the tips...bit like I drank raspberry tea, ate curry, etc etc...

satinshoes · 15/11/2006 19:08

Just so you know, I changed my name a teensy bit from tinshoes. The tin was making my feet sore

Calmriver · 15/11/2006 19:19

If they don't squirt saline up your drip, you could flatline, so they know what they are doing!

What effected me most was being de-hydrated for two days prior

VanillaMilkshake · 15/11/2006 20:00

when in was in following MC they squirted saline in my drip to clean it out!! [Shock]

I suffer high BP as run of mill - so surely this would have sent it hiugher??

spinamum · 15/11/2006 20:53

SLB, big hug!

Must think about my hopital bag again. P art of me thinks that bing organised did me no favours last time so a bit of chaos might be what's needed for a pre Xmas appearance by Beanie. So no ceiling in room,no one within two hours to look after DS1,building work due to start in next few weeks(), no mat leave for another two weeks and general lack of being organised other than my (infamous buggy/pram) and some of DS1's old clothes piled up on the floor in the-room-that-will-have-no-ceiling should be just enough chaos I think

Oh and no middle name for Beanie!!!

Whoops! didn't mean to post thrice!

accessorizequeen · 15/11/2006 21:18

yes, but spina you have nice spotty blanket to coo over...
Got teary tonight as last day of work tomorrow, I have massive, massive pile of stuff to do & haven't written any notes for person taking over 3 hours of my job a week (I work 24+). Dad arriving on Friday, spare room filled with about 500 items of baby items I'm either trying to wash, iron or sort. I'm so angry with work (no-one's acknowledged the project I finished last week after 9 months of hard slog!) I feel like calling in sick.
I haven't posted for ages due to workload, but tried to stay up with everything. Things sound really tough for many of you, as if common garden exhaustion, backache, indigestion etc not enough for the average woman!

If not TMI, any tips on piles? Only just realised I have them as never had before, sitting down getting uncomfortable & constipated most of the time. Started drinking prune juice this arvo to assist, but is there anything I can buy (without enormous embarrassment) at pharmacy??

accessorizequeen · 15/11/2006 21:20

spina, sorry didn't mean to undermine your woes, I have a ceiling in my spare room after all! Just that spotty blanket has stuck in my head all this time!

spinamum · 15/11/2006 21:23

Anusol is what i pop on mine when I feel them "arrive" and I make sure I don't have any constipation ever!(water, fruit, fybogel sachets etc)

Sorry you're having a c**p time at work.

After tommorrow though you can push the whole lot of thewm out of your head and concentrate on Person making!

I must go to bed. Had a 14 hour day on monday at work and I can't do my normal hours without flaking. Roll on Mat Leave.

spinamum · 15/11/2006 21:25

Crossed threads! Don't fret. I don't feel undermined at all,woe wise! I'm not in the slightest bit stressed about lack of ceiling(plus other bits and bobs)

It was nice to be reminded of my spotty blanket. I might go and stroke it!

spinamum · 15/11/2006 21:30

I'm guessing by the time Bean puts in an appearance,I'll have a ceiling and half my extension will be built(a tad over optimistic perhaps or really, really pessamistic about my overdue status!) In case you all think I've lost it not getting stressed over lack of four walls and roof(oh just remembered that's coming off too at some point!) Might be moving to my dad's in Ireland for a while!!!

VanillaMilkshake · 15/11/2006 21:32

AQ, after DD I had serious piles - at the mo they are nothing of a little itchy sorry TMI again for those not suffering. But Germaloids worked for me then and now (and I love the smell), and you can buy them without having to ask anyone as they are in front of the counter not behind!

Sorry to hear about your work . perhaps you could point it out a bit as to how busy you have been as well as being PG. Im with you though - time to go sick, when would be giving up work if not?

On my last day my boss wanted me to where a hard hat and give a speech - dickhead! When I refused to wear the hat he did his speech which was 5 minutes waffling on about all my achievments during the year - which I had only heard the day before at my appraisal, and all my colleagues knew anyway as we are only a tiny dept. Not once did he refernce I was actually leaving to have a baby.

Also found out from the ladies in the office he had wanted them to go and buy something (square-solid) for me as opposed to vouchers - but when they refused he nearly did it himself, then realised he did'nt have a fecking clue what someone having a baby needs. Let alone someone having thier second - who already has lots of stuff. Right going to stop talking about that idiot now as it's raising my BP and I have finsihsed working for him for at least 6 months.

AQ my sympathies and a large handful of Cadburys Heroes to you (()).

BTW I also have a spotty blanket - but mine is a comfort blanket for DD to give to bump.

accessorizequeen · 15/11/2006 21:43

You really are remarkably calm, spina, enjoy your spotty blanket-patting
Thanks spina & vm for advice on piles (I've been eating far too much crap lately as so stressed which is prob. responsible for constipation). I shall visit boots forthwith!
DP suggested leaving after lunch, and I think I'm going to - I'm not stressing myself out for people who couldn't give a monkey's anyway. New boss, apathetic is understatement, he just doesn't want to know & only arranged limited cover for me last week! I'm going to cite m/w appointment or something & disappear. Just really hard to leave things undone knowing they'll be that way for 6 or 7 months, but bump comes first, he's been getting short shrift for weeks as has ds.

accessorizequeen · 15/11/2006 21:44

And thanks for virtual heroes, vm. There's some lindt in the tesco shop that's just arrived, I think I might have to dig in (no milo again, tho').
