Thanks! I guess if better get on with it then Grin

I have absolutely no idea how busy they're likely to be around here!

GoooRooo · 27/03/2015 13:12

You might find they say 'call us again in a few months' - but I think it unlikely to be honest!

ditzzy · 27/03/2015 13:37

I've sent them an fb message. Tried to email but it bounced back and it looks as though their website is down for maintenance today! They have a lovely fb page though with lots of details of all the activities they're up to. It does look like a great place (with an outstanding from Ofsted too).

Although in respect of not being blinded by the first option I'd better go and find the details of the others in the running too!

Tiredstressed · 27/03/2015 14:15

I agree - get in early for nursery places. We had the opposite problem for childminders - I was searching for a place but people were unwilling to commit because we were looking early. It was stressful but it worked out in the end. Although we will need to move DD at some stage because our cm will not do pickups for the schools next to us. Rookie error!

ditzzy · 27/03/2015 14:30

Well I've had almost an instant message back from the manager of my favourite place inviting us to go for a look around any time we like (and advising us to visit lots of places to get the feel for what we like) and recommending we register formally in September (October at the latest).

Very nice friendly email Grin I like this place already.

ditzzy · 27/03/2015 14:32

Oh and we'll probably be visiting next week, as both me and DP are off for a few days Grin definitely no hanging around waiting here!

misssmilla1 · 27/03/2015 14:49

Thanks for the reminder on nursery places! Really need to get on this for next February as I think there's a lot of competition for places round by us. The list of things to do is getting longer, when all I really want to do is loaf on the sofa eating chocolate buttons Smile

Maths88 · 27/03/2015 14:53

Nightmare journey today! Half day at work for end of term - great I thought! My usual 40 minute train journey ended up being 3 hours of trains and buses! Back really hurts from all the waiting around and now worrying I've done some damage carrying heavy rucksack for all that time!

Oh well two weeks off work now to recover and my sex scan is on Wednesday - can't wait!

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 27/03/2015 18:06

It definitely pays to check sooner rather than later for nurseries, if they say you're too early it's nothing lost. Round here everywhere has spaces. We looked at four and went with the one we felt had the nicest "family" feel. It has a terrible Ofsted report but the things they fell down on weren't important to us. Ds is really happy there and we are happy with the care he receives.

Maths88 · 27/03/2015 18:33

Not even started thinking about nurseries yet - best get on it!

DeladionInch · 27/03/2015 18:35

Ouch, pulled something in my left hip. I've done a fair bit of walking today but nothing out with the usual. Hoping fish and chips, strawberry cheesecake, crochet and a hot water bottle will sort it

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 27/03/2015 20:03

Chippy tea here too Deladion!

Sundaysmumisfullofwine · 27/03/2015 20:13

got our downs screening back, 1 in 88000 fortunately.

Killer cold the last few days, so congested I can't breathe, and coughing until I feel sick. Lovely.

monkeymoonpig · 27/03/2015 20:37

sundaysmum congrats :)

Same here with cold, just awful. Poor baby must be so fed up of me coughing Sad

Pigriver · 27/03/2015 21:39

Had my 16 week appt today which cheered me up after some rubbish news. DH has to go away tomorrow for 4 days leaving me alone on my birthday, can't be helped and only decided today. I was being emotional and grumpy but listening to the baby's heartbeat snapped me out of it nicely.
Also DH noticed the midwife spilled my urine sample on her shoe which made us giggle like small children!

Excitingtimesahead · 27/03/2015 22:24

Our house is full of coughing, congestion and constant stream of running noses.

The coughing def seems to be making me more sick.

Thanks for the reminder, don't need to look at nurseries but would like ds to start play school. Will try and email/phone.

Having my 16wk apt on tues can't wait to hear the heartbeat again.

DefinitelyNotElsa · 28/03/2015 05:58

I'm the same ExcitingTimes - I've had a cough and cold for a couple of weeks now and the coughing is the worst!

Maths88 · 28/03/2015 07:44

Nice to hear about 16 week appointments going well - got mine on Monday.

Viewing some houses today which is very exciting!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

monkeymoonpig · 28/03/2015 08:22

Baby was most definitely unimpressed with my coughing fits last night, and let me know with lots of wriggling around! Hope this awful cold is gone by the time they're big enough to give me a good kicking :-/

DoctorDonnaNoble · 28/03/2015 08:44

Had a ridiculously busy couple of weeks at work - it will be like this until study leave now.
Anyway, holidays now. Quad blood test on Tuesday and 16 week appointment on Wednesday. That's just a routine one, yes? DH doesn't need to come?

Treaclepie19 · 28/03/2015 08:47

Do you ladies know if all midwives listen to the heartbeat at 16 weeks?
I'm desperate for a bit of reassurance but ive heard it doesn't always happen.

Cornberry · 28/03/2015 09:07

treacle I don't think they do everywhere. Like many things it's the luck of the draw. Some areas have a policy of not listening to heartbeat at 16 weeks I gather as it can apparently be tricky to locate sometimes which can cause undue panic. I wasn't expecting to hear heartbeat but midwife found it immediately so I'm surprised it can be so complicated... Hope you get the chance for some reassurance :)

ditzzy · 28/03/2015 09:32

My MW took a couple of minutes to find the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment (which was a couple of days early too) but it didn't look difficult. It was lovely! The rest of the appointment took about two minutes, very routine and DP didn't come along.

monkeymoonpig · 28/03/2015 09:46

My mw said it can be hard to find in some instances as baby can still be very low down and can understandably cause worry and distress, so here (Shropshire and Telford Trust) they say after 20wk scan, when i suppose its much easier to find. I have 20wk scan 24/4 so have to wait until then.....

THEworrywart · 28/03/2015 09:51

Policy here for listening to the heart beat with midwife is after 20 weeks.
