Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

I think I might make 10 min cookies for the health visitor and my mum tonight, if I can get the energy. Mum has to be dairy free so Waitrose can't help out much (although they aren't bad on their dairy free options).

PenguinPoser · 12/03/2015 16:30

Lovely high chair Siarie!

Will catch up soon - on way home now. CTG and growth scan were ok - estimated weight 6lb8oz at the moment which is just above 50th centile.

My bloods from yesterday are quite a bit worse in terms of the cholestasis, so consultant wants baby out this weekend. She's just given me a membrane sweep and was pleasantly surprised that cervix is favourable (was uncomfortable though!) and said she could break my waters but midwife might struggle as head so low - so still coming in for a pessary tomorrow - unless I labour before then Shock

Off home to panic some more!!! If I feel ok later going to go out for a nice meal with DH for our last night of freedom!

Aw sorry to hear that Squatting they still might attempt an ECV if you were keen - assume they will refer you to consultant if still breech to discuss the options?

I'm 36+6 today so technically term tomorrow so fingers crossed all should be ok especially as I've had steroids.

Gosh Siarie that looks pretty space age!

Firaffe me too, I cannot be bothered with work (just the handover note to do) and feeling sooo sleepy.

Siarie I'm pretty sure we don't get taxed on CB (since we don't get it) despite not having filled out the form. Not sure about whether NI credits can stack though so maybe filling out the form and ticking not claiming is the best option... now thinking maybe I should do that!!

daholster some great names there though I do still really like Rory Heath. I also like Roscoe (but was a family cat's name) and Brinley. What about Digby, Dashiell, Hadleigh, (I may have suggested Digby before Grin)

smogs impressive cooking... I really should do some...

Penguin Shock wow baby this weekend! very glad you have got to 37 weeks. Hope induction goes easily. Lots of sex and nipple stimulation are supposed to help get things going... If you're up for it!

daholster · 12/03/2015 17:09

penguin so pleased! Funnily enough I wrote earlier on my good luck wishes that maybe baby being quiet was just getting ready for it's arrival... Then deleted it thinking I would sound insensitive and ridiculous!!! At least you know why you are feeling off colour with those bloods. Poor you. But oh so exciting for the weekend!

Sorry about your breech baby squatting. I would mope too! Brew

Just got back from tying up odds and ends at work. Hardly anyone was in. Agreed with the admin staff I'll advertise a day I'm going to be at the coffee shop for lunch so I can say bye to people and they can come if they like - they thought it was a good idea and had been sad I had disappeared without trace. Seeing one of my bosses briefly felt very awkward though Confused

Still all done. Just my sign off when my mentor is back and one out of hours shift to go!

daholster · 12/03/2015 17:12

X post minipie! I really like Brinley, wish it didn't mean what it did though! I can't have Digby, it was a stupid dog in a set of childhood stories I used to read and still couldn't do it!!! Dashiell is pretty cool. Dh will say no I'm sure! But Dash has to be awesome doesn't he?!

ChickenMe · 12/03/2015 17:16

Wow penguin glad all is well you could be meeting your baby v soon. I will keep up the snoring as you might not be a snorer for much longer.Grin
Lol at your cat. Mine has commandeered the car seat and tried to get in the Moses basket even tho we left the cover on. I caught her bedding down yesterday in a pile of stuff I had just bloody washed for the babyShock. Cow.

smogs yum that food sounds good I love veggies and comfort food must be the best to encourage the milk! No poncy salads here. I think as well as the famous oats (Grr I have to have gluten free oatsSad) I read that potatoes were good for milk?

Lauren I want to eat a meatball (not a fat ball) now...

Misty I feel for you. I felt the same -under pressure from people desperate to see the baby. Well guess what, I have waited 9mths for this baby too and it won't kill anyone to wait a few extra days. No one gets to dictate anything to you just rem that. We are being vague with insistent people. "You just don't know how it'll go". If (troublesome relative who shall remain nameless but rhymes with pill) says this is her baby one more time I will brain her have to say s/t. Like hell is it yours.

Lauren82000 · 12/03/2015 17:39

Penguin how exciting to meet your baby so soon. Try not to worry and at least your health issues should clear up sooner rather than later. Hope your sweep works and gets you started.

minipie · 12/03/2015 17:44

Squatting have you seen the spinning babies website? A few ideas there to turn a breech baby, all involve getting into funny positions I think!

daholster I wouldn't worry too much about the meaning. Most people other than parents never look up or think about the meaning. We are going with Cecily for DD2 even though it means "blind" (and I have awful sight so poor DD2 might too!). Other suggestions for you: Griffin, Corin, Fergus, Ludo (could be short for Ludovic Grin), Dominic (my choice if DD2 was a boy), Morgan, Kit (Christopher on bc), Robin. Just spotted Sylvester, Rowan and Nathaniel on your list too, I really like all those!

TinyTear · 12/03/2015 17:44

So, first day of maternity leave spent in hospital... Well the morning...
Scan was OK, AC in the 95th, diabetes bloods fine, keep up the meds and obstetrician won't need to see me again now until eviction day...

And I have had a nasty cough for a week, obst heard it and gave me antibiotics straight away as she said it could be viral, but if not I need to be clear for the section... So if not better by Monday to go to the GP and get it seen again...

smogsville · 12/03/2015 17:52

FiRaffe I don't think I would be minded to offer HV cookies that's v nice of you!

Feeling quite cross as DD has (I think) managed to fall down the stairs. I heard a tumbling noise and there she was at the bottom and a pair of my heels halfway up the stairs. So I think she tried to walk down in my heels. Feeling a mixture of rage and guilt. Maybe we need to put the stairgate back on at the foot of the stairs to stop her going up by herself? She's 3.5 now though. Argh. Now obsessively checking her pupils to make sure they're dilating so she's not concussed. She's eating her food so and seems to be moving normally so I'm assuming she's not mortally injured. As you can all tell my sympathy dial is set very low Blush

Wow Penguin! Sorry it wasn't what you wanted to hear but glad they're taking the right action.

Squatting I know I'm a broken record but sections can be ok Brew

daholster we're all pleased you're finishing work. Sorry it's been a bit awkward at the end.

Chicken you're being v patient with your dear relative Pill. What a doughnut. It's perfectly obvious that the baby isn't anyone's except you and your OH's.

Siarie now I come to think of it I know a couple of SAHMs who have to do something adminy about their NI contributions. But sounds like you're on the payroll so should be covered.

ChickenMe · 12/03/2015 18:05

I don't feel very patient smog. She has been told but continues...(roll eyes smilie). I have read on MN before that certain rellies lose the plot when it comes to a new baby amongst close family. I think ok behave stupidly but if you act drama/OTT when it's here then you will find it is clamped to my boob like a limpet Grin Lol
Hopefully your daughter is ok. If she is eating then that sounds positive. I have to say I'd not be too tolerant either where is the roll eyes smilie? Suffering fools is not on the menu at this stage in pregnancy is it!!!!

Boo it's the bloom fresco I think it's called.

m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/bloom-fresco-chrome-contemporary-leatherette-baby-chair-white/p355069#page_loaded

Ordered it from JL and in fairness they did say up to 10 weeks but we had to email them last week as we hadn't heard anything. Then they said whoops it will be send ASAP, so I'm not sure if we got missed off the list or what.

My back is killing, DH massaged it but I think I must have pulled something putting the chair together.

In other news we just got a video of our new car sent to us. Wasn't expecting a video! Mercedes do things differently to Audi clearly. It still needs to be registered though so I expect we will pick it up next weekend since we are busy this weekend.

What a day! Hope everyone else has got their feet up.

RL20 · 12/03/2015 18:53

Wow penguin! ShockGrin How exciting, but scary I suppose! Hope you're feeling ok!

Sorry to hear that baby is in the pesky breech position Squatting. Obviously as a first timer I have no clue about c-sections or natural birth. But like you say, whatever's the safest way possible will be best for your baby.

Well, half productive day today. Not done as much in the flat as I would have liked, but I have 90% sorted our bedroom out.
Had the Isofix Base fitted in the car today at Mothercare. Well, I say fitted, we got there to pick it up and they explained that they're not insured to actually fit them themselves but will happily help us and guide us in the rift direction with the fitting! Even though a lady had said last time that they 'can do' when I asked if they could fit them.
Anyway, she did turn out to helpful so I can't complain. Now just to keep practicing taking the car seat in and out of it!
So my question is, how old is baby when you can turn them facing the other way?
I don't think the Isofix base can be turned around for when that time comes, so I suppose the seat will have to be belted? I haven't really looked at it properly and it hadn't even crossed my mind before!! Confused

smogsville · 12/03/2015 19:11

Thanks Chicken you've made me feel less guilty! She is upstairs 'reading' a book to her babies so fingers crossed.

FiRaffe · 12/03/2015 19:18

Hope your DD is okay smog. I'm a bit like you on the low tolerance!

Moved most of the boxes from the nursery but have failed to make cookies yet or move any furniture. Got a meeting at 8 too so think that'll be shelved. Feeling a bit useless.

Lauren82000 · 12/03/2015 19:25

RL your supposed to leave them rear facing for as long as you can which is safest way for them to sit, but I guess it depends on the kind of seat you have and how long their legs are. It was definitely after 1 year we turned DD in hers think she was about 18months. Her little legs were squished so it was time to turn her and she wanted to be able to see out of the window better.

RL20 · 12/03/2015 19:51

Thanks Lauren. I hadn't even thought of when the legs get longer Confused Baby brain is in full swing, it seems! Have already been told at a scan I had 2 weeks ago that my baby has long legs, so we'll see how long the rear-facing lasts! Grin

Lauren82000 · 12/03/2015 19:59

Apparently in Sweden they keep them rear facing till 4! No idea what kind of car seat would fit a 4 year old rear facing. Shock
