Hope all is ok Leanne and that you get seen soon x

leanne963 · 03/03/2015 14:43

Really turqouise oh wow ok well I will keep that in mind, just been seen to, got swabbed and they said I had some pooling of fluid so it's getting tested now! Argh!!

applecore0317 · 03/03/2015 15:07

Hope its not your main waters leanne and just the back waters like it was with me or something else that doesn't cause any need for concern

Justyouwaitandsee · 03/03/2015 15:09

Fingers crossed for you Leanne!
I am just back from my scan. All went well. Placenta has moved out of the way (now 26mm from cervix as opposed to 3mm) and baby's head is 'well engaged'! Eek!

Baby is measuring ahead on size and weight (over 4lb I think) and the adjusted due date shown on the screen said 24th april putting baby another 4 days ahead.

Wasn't expecting them to do a vaginal scan but that wasn't too bad, although baby's head was so low the sonographer had to push hard on it several times to try to get a clear view. Baby retaliated later by kicking the probe off my stomach! All seems to start feeling very real but hopefully we'll get the go ahead for the natural birth centre from the consultant tomorrow...Smile

shinyhappyone · 03/03/2015 15:19

Hope all is ok Leanne.

Catnip, we talked a out things we'd like to cover over the next few weeks then started with the labour basics-what it's likely to feel like, when to start thinking about going to hospital, comfortable positions for the first part of labor and positions that will make things a little easier in the later stages. Next week we're on different options for birthing. It's useful for me as I've chosen to remain pretty ignorant up until now so know very little! Smile

plinkyplonks · 03/03/2015 17:01

leanne963 Best of luck, hope everything goes OK x Flowers

Found out today I have pre eclampsia - I've been told not to expect to go past 34 weeks and that it is now likely to be an ems needed if blood pressure goes too high.

Just want to cry - seems far too early for baby to be ready to come out :(

Justyouwaitandsee · 03/03/2015 17:13

Oh plinky - sending you big hugs! After seeing our little one today at 32 weeks, and reading our daily updates of how well developed all its functions and organs are now, I think that by 34 weeks your baby should be just fine. I think they generally just need a little bit of help to keep themselves warm but they should be ready to breathe on their own. The docs will know what they are doing, and need to make the best decision for both you and baby. I know all this is easier to say than accept though - so please take things easy and don't be too hard on yourself. On the plus side, you will get to see baby very soon and have all the happiness which comes with that moment despite the circumstances! Lots of love Flowers

Justyouwaitandsee · 03/03/2015 17:14

Ps. How far on are you atm? And how long do you have to go before 34wks? X

plinkyplonks · 03/03/2015 17:32

Thanks all, really appreciate it. Just was very unexpected so to go from all the fun of water births and NCT to this is just a bit unbelievable and I'm still in shock from it all. Symptoms came on quickly and I'm so happy I decided to go to hospital otherwise it wouldn't have been picked up until 34 weeks :/

Justyouwaitandsee - I'm 32+0 at the moment - according to the scan today baby is weighing just under 4lbs. I've 1 steroid injection today to help babies lungs mature, and going back in for another tomorrow with hopefully some monitoring thrown in too. BP is currently borderline so I'm really hoping if I can keep it under control until 34 weeks the baby has a much better chance at survival and reduces the chance of complications :)

Justyouwaitandsee · 03/03/2015 17:39

Aww - we're at exactly the same stage, I am 32+0 too and our babies weigh the same! I think they are both slightly over average (which I read should be 3.75lbs at this stage) so they are both already ahead of the game! Wink I am sure your little one will do just fine and fantastic that you managed to pick it up so early and give them every little bit of extra support you can via those steroid injections. hugs xxx

longestlurkerever · 03/03/2015 17:47

Aw, hugs plinky. I echo what everyone else says but understand why you're feeling really shaken. Puts my worries about monitoring and no birth pool because of gd into perspective. Though so far so good on the blood sugar readings so feeling heartened.

applecore0317 · 03/03/2015 18:24

Sorry Plinky. Medicine is so much better now and 34 weeks isn't as scary as it used to be. Hope the blood pressure stays down! My sister in law was telling me about how her friend ended up giving birth at 28 weeks and she is now a healthy three year old running around

Chookford · 03/03/2015 18:27

leanne and plinky really sorry to hear you both have had a bit of a shock today, hope you are both ok?

Jenni2legs · 03/03/2015 18:41

Thinking of you both Plinky and Leanne xx

cuphat · 03/03/2015 19:03

Sorry to hear you have pre-eclampsia, plinky.

Hope everything's ok, Leanne.

leanne963 · 03/03/2015 19:57

So sorry to hear that plink it's good that they found out as early as possible though! Thinking of you!

turquoise you called it! I'm staying in over night! It wasn't amniotic fluid but it was a pool of bloody stuff which I don't really know what it is! Said it just could be from the cervix, but internal checks went well! Just monitoring me over night! :) Thanks everyone for your concerns! Can I fast forward to May please?!?! Lol x

KittyVonCatsington · 03/03/2015 20:00

Sorry to hear you have pre-eclampsia plinky and hoping that blood pressure stays down for longer. Hope everything is ok with you leanne.

We had first NHS antenatal class today - we covered what to put in hospital bag, stages of labour and comfortable positions etc. Was quite informative....next week = pain relief!

Chookford · 03/03/2015 20:08

leanne glad to hear you are ok, it's good they are keeping an eye on you, hopefully it won't happen again.. As kitty said large slab of Cake for plinky and you!!

SmileyScooby · 03/03/2015 20:35

I've just scanned through and seen your message plinky. Am sorry to hear your situation but if this is of any comfort to you one of my friends had pre-eclampsia twice with both her DC. DC1 was born at 28 weeks and DC2 at 30 weeks, both are doing great DC1 is 5 years and DC2 is 3 soon. xx

Will now go and catch up properly and post again.

Snooky17 · 03/03/2015 20:41
