Well it's official I'm a pushover. Despite me telling DH that he's doing bed tonight it ended up a joint effort. He gave me his puppy dog eyes and sodded off to the pub for a few pints after doing DDs bath. I had to do tidy up and story (which ended up being a Christmas one. Really must hide those until December!)

It's only because his brother is up from wales (it was his engagement party last night) so felt a bit mean saying no as they were only in the pub till 7.30 so he should be home within half an hour. I did manage to extract a good exchange for my goodwill though. He has to do half the ironing pile and take DD to his mums tomorrow so I get several hours to myself!

I'm beaming with self satisfaction! Today I put 9 items in my hospital bag! 4 of them are toiletries but still 9 items is 9 items rightWink

Hidingthefear · 21/02/2015 19:39

annia DH thinks that's a good idea so we're gonna watch a film and eat the other easter egg, malteasers and M&Ms we bought Smile
I'm reading the Maria mongan book and also doing classes. We have a rainbow relaxation track and a birthing affirmations track. Found this one on YouTube which sounds like ours (just a different woman speaking) but this goes with the book and is really good to listen to when your going to sleep. Even if you fall asleep before the end.

We also have a birthing affirmations track but I can't find that on YouTube.

Quiet weekend for you then river!
haha smogs he thinks he's so cool when he uses the lingo, like calling himself my "DH" and referring to me as a "mums netter"

What's pappa John's? Never heard of them.

Good job on the hospital bag lauren I have some stuff in a pile but no bag yet. Getting a bag would probably be a good start eh lol 9 items is good going Smile

RL20 · 21/02/2015 19:44

Evening everyone.
Haven't posted much as having a bit of a crap weekend.
Last night I had a bit of a silent cry after we went to bed after we had a little argument about money and just little things.
This morning was ok then I went to work and finished at 5.30 to find out he had been to the pub and is now with a friend. I could tell he had had a drink by the way he was talking on the phone. So I'm now having a bath to try and de-stress but can't seem to get much sense out of his texts or as to when he'll be coming home. I feel like going to stay at my mums for the night which really I can't be bothered to do but I also can't be bothered to stay home and wait around for him worrying.
Just feel a bit fed up and upset. Sometimes feel like I'm the only adult in the relationship and that when baby comes along it'll be like having 2 children. Feeling lonely and sorry for myself like it's just me and baby against everyone else. Sorry to go on ??
Hope everyone else has had a nice day and are feeling ok pregnancy-wise.

31+5

Lauren82000 · 21/02/2015 20:07

Oh dear RL, big hugs for you. Why don't you do something nice for yourself and just let him do his thing, you can try talking about it calmly tomorrow when he's sober and you've had a bit of time. If you don't tell him how your feeling he will just continue in the same way.

And yes quite a lot of the time it does feel like you have 2 kids even though one is a fully functioning adult. It's the nature of men I'm afraid, a small part of them will always be a small boy it just depends on the man how much of the small boy is still in there!

DH isn't back from the pub yet either! Angry I better get a decent lie in in the morning!

FiRaffe · 21/02/2015 20:27

Oh RL, hope things get better. As Lauren says do something nice for you!

DH just looks at me confused when I tell him things from mumsnet, but secretly I think he's pleased i've got somewhere I can ask stupid questions and get advice!

RL20 · 21/02/2015 20:29

Thanks Lauren. I've decided I'm going over to my mums otherwise I just sit at home and overthink things and become even more upset and I really don't want to work myself up,with baby, I feel guilty already as it is.
I've just caught up on your last post where you said your other half is at the pub too.
I don't want to feel like a single parent as of course I love him a lot and he does a lot for me/us most of the time. I just hate when he has moments like this as I don't feel like he's the same person and I can't talk to him properly which I suppose is what makes me feel lonely.
I hope you get your lie-in in the morning x

PenguinPoser · 21/02/2015 21:43

River I am having swollen ankle problems too - worse on days when I'm at work. Have also had to take my rings off Sad

RL sounds like the best plan going to your mums tonight rather than being upset at home. Speak to him tomorrow when there's no alcohol involved.

Gosh Boo I hope babycakes is ok let us know if you hear anything about if she is having a section. Was thinking about dances too - if you're there hope you and your little girl are doing well Flowers

So glad I'm not the only one developed a sweet tooth! Just on way home from my mums now been for tea which was nice although I could eat something else now despite having a good amount of food!!

RL20 · 21/02/2015 21:54

Hi Penguin thanks yes I have done. Currently at my mums house, will talk with him again tomorrow. Was just as bit annoyed as he has an organised night out next Saturday night so didn't think he'd be doing much this weekend Hmm

Also hoping that babycakes is ok! I do remember her name popping up on here a few times. I suppose you really never know what's round the corner and must be very scary for her so wishing her and baby all the best!??

londonlivvy · 21/02/2015 22:13

smogs obviously all babies different but the cozy underfloor heating under her play mat had her off to sleep every time. unfortunately it never occurred to me to leave her there at night (she was a shocker in the evenings. liked a good scream from 630-830)! I hope it works for you! I'm hoping to sleep too when DD goes to the childminder, two mornings a week.

smogsville · 21/02/2015 22:15

RL hope you're ok. If it makes you feel any better my DH is at a wedding in Cape Town. Probably well into the 100th bottle of the day by now.

Agree with what the others have said - no point trying to speak to a man after he's had a drink. Hang on until tomorrow.

Hope being at your mum's is cheering you up.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/02/2015 22:29

Argh lost a huge post Angry

My two never engaged ChickenMe, with no fibroids. It means you don't need to pee as much but heartburn carries on until then end. I'm sure that's the reason they needed to be induced though.

Enjoy your sneaky peak BrixtonBunny! I'm totally the opposite with food, I could have lived off chocolate before being pregnant and now always go for savory and was the same in all three pregnancies.

I LOVE Easter egg chocolate, it's by far the best chocolate ever!!

Hope you feel better from your time in bed with a hot water bottle TheBooMonster!

I have bought all my mini toiletries and a nursing bra today Lauren82000 just need some black knickers and I'm ready to put it all in a bag of some kind, so youre ahead of me.

So sorry to hear that RL20! In my last post I said you should go to your mums and I see you have, good. An argument with a drunk person isn't helpful. You do need to tell him how you feel though as it won't get easier with a baby involved. Flowers

I had a successful trip today, got a mattress, nursing bra, toiletries, fitted sheets and a few bits I didn't need but wanted and Dh agreed to me painting two walls of babies room and taken ds2's bed apart. Just need a cot now!

Lauren82000 · 22/02/2015 08:00

Well didn't get much of a lie in. DH just let DD have the ipad in our bed for an hour, so had to listen to the peppa pig game instructions!

Also I woke up with a sticky left eye, couldn't see anything out of it at first but it's cleared now. Guess it's a glasses day today not a contacts day. I swear I never got gamy eye before DD! I think my left nostril is a bit bunged so that's probably set it off. Oh the joys! Confused

TheBooMonster · 22/02/2015 08:23

babycakes is doing ok, the bleeding has slowed over night, so it looks like baby is staying put which is fab!

The cold has got into my sinuses so insole up with excruciating pain in my jaw at 2am, had an hour and a a half of excruciating pain that paracetamol wouldn't touch before I gave in and took tramadol, I figured if the hospital is happy to give me oramorph an occasional tramadol is unlikely to cause bump any damage, slept beautifully but feel terrible for taking it :s DH is back at work today though so I really needed to be at least a bit functional...

Sorry about your not-lay-in lauren! This is why I've banned all tech but mobiles upstairs >.

FiRaffe · 22/02/2015 08:40

Morning ladies, sorry some of you had bad nights again. I've been tossing and turning, but find the damp pillow from this lovely pregnancy drool the worst of it! I hope it stops once baby puts in an appearance.

Off on our babymoon today. Really looking forward to not having to do anything or be anywhere at any given time!

smogsville · 22/02/2015 09:05

Yes sorry about the ailments and the crap sleep. Preg drool's great isn't it I have taken to putting an extra pillowcase on top of pillow to catch it.

In other news I was right about muslins and nursing bras which were up in mum and dad's loft. Hooray.

If people haven't bought nursing bras yet I found the john lewis own brand ones to be best - they have an extra bit of material that basically means you don't have to drop the whole cup down to feed. You reveal less boob basically.

JL mat bra pack of two £30. I am crap at doing website links but have just checked and they're online.

RL20 · 22/02/2015 09:48

Thank you everyone who wrote back last night. I had a relatively peaceful night at my mums (minus the normal wee breaks). Will speak to him today when I decide to go back, although I do have work for a couple of hours so I have told him to read back through the text messages in the mean time.

Firaffe enjoy your babymoon - if I remember right I think you were going to the New Forest? Wish I was going, too!

Boo - glad to hear babycakes is doing well. I can't imagine how she must feel.

On the subject of having a sweet tooth - I definitely do. I've always been more savoury, which I still am in one way, but have also developed a sweet tooth aswell! So I could literally go through the day like.. Savoury, sweet, savoury, oh now I need sweet again. Ahh! I suppose cups of tea do help the sweet cravings though.
My favourite chocolate at the minute is Turkish Delight. It's always been my favourite but now I just seem to be eating more and more of them Confused

PenguinPoser · 22/02/2015 09:57

RL don't make me think about Turkish delight chocolate or I might just have to buy some!! My favourite! Grin glad you had a decent night and hope today is ok.

Enjoy your babymoon Firaffe! Hehe at pregnancy drool... I thought it was just me. DH sometimes gets changed into an old t shirt before we cuddle up on the sofa for when I inevitably fall asleep on him Blush

Baby has had a quiet night but seems more awake this morning thank goodness! I was prodding it at about 5am then it got hiccups so I was happy again or maybe a bad mother

Thanks for the recommendation on nursing bras smogs. Would people recommend having a proper fitting? My boobs haven't grown much yet and not sure what's going to happen when I start feeding. Think I will need to go about 36 weeks if baby coming around 37 weeks. Need to get sorted!
34+2 today

RL20 · 22/02/2015 10:15

Penguin luckily - or unfortunately - they don't sell them in many of my local shops so when I travelled to my nearest Sainsburys last night for diesel, I found them and couldn't resist Grin I suppose I have got some control though as I only bought the one!
Also - not a bad mother - quite the opposite! I woke up at 4.30am a few days ago and decide to give my belly a bit of a tickle to make sure he was ok!

Well, I don't know what happened to Breech position like the midwife said but I feel like - I could be wrong- that his head is on one side of my belly button and his legs are digging somewhere down near my hip!? I seem to feel movement in both places at the same time as if he's stretching out or something?
Other than that though, I wouldn't have a clue if it was a little hand I was feeling... or an ear!
I do find it amazing when people say that they know exactly what body part is thrashing around Shock

cinnamongreyhound · 22/02/2015 10:38

Shoulders are quite prominent too RL20, I thought mine may be breech but he's head down and the hard bump I was feeling was bum. I think knowing that you can figure the rest.

I personally think you can tell if a bra fits right PenguinPoser but so many people wear the wrong size so perhaps not. I had a good experience in mothercare with ds1 but that was nearly 8 years ago.

I had a horrible dream that I was in prison last night, other than that I slept for 8.5hrs Shock feeling great! Been for a canicross run today and am starving, can hear the scrambled eggs calling!

Those who are craving sweet things are you expecting a girl? Just interested as I have craved savoury things with all three boys despite having a very sweet tooth normally Confused

ChickenMe · 22/02/2015 10:41

I had heard that some don't engage cinnamon and it worried me. I have heartburn AND bladder! Not sure which is worse. Do you think it'll be the same for you with this one (induced)?
How many nursing bras would you buy? I was thinking four as they must get milk on them. Will check out JL. I got some breastfeeding tops from H&M. Weirdly H&M is one of the only high street shops doing a decent maternity range. Huge gap in the market!
I feel weird body parts too RL. I know the head is down because the consultant checked it. That was a bit uncomfortable! the parts feel hard, maybe a foot. Or a bottom?
Wondering if anyone has any decent stretch marks yet? I already had some small ones on the hips-now got two deep ones either side betw hips and belly! I don't mind them.

cinnamongreyhound · 22/02/2015 11:10

At the moment he's very high ChickenMe and they don't want me to go past 40weeks so induction looks likely. With bras I only had two as I got quite expensive under wired ones and I had to wear breast pads for several months so they didn't get milk in them, one to wear and one to wash. I've only bought one for know and will see how my boobs settle once milk comes in before I buy more. The one I got yesterday from mothercare was only £16 and seems good so perhaps I will have a few more this time for convenience.

RL20 · 22/02/2015 11:27

Cinnamon that's interesting, I hadn't thought of his shoulders.
At my midwife appointment last Wednesday she said breech position, but I feel like I have felt him turn around a lot since then! Hopefully.
Also, I'm expecting a boy. (That's with two separate opinions - one private scan and then my 20 week scan - so hoping they haven't got it wrong!Confused).
So not too sure on the sweet tooth thing I'm afraid. All I can say is I suppose everybody's different! My mum said her pregnancy with my brother was very similar to how I have been, from the beginning.

Chicken - I was wondering when someone was going to mention stretch marks!
I have a few round my hips, at the top of my bum, and a few light ones on my right boob, but not really my left one?!
None on my bump as yet but I suppose there's still 8 weeks for that!
Might have to check out H&M I didn't realise they did maternity clothes.
Although I've come this far without having to buy any - apart from maternity jeggings which I have only wore a couple of times as they are a bit too long - so I really don't want to start now! I've just been living in leggings instead

I think all men are like that squatting. Completely oblivious to anyone else.

Somehow I've ended up in the same room as DD while she plays with the playdoh and DH is in the other room playing on his PS4! What happened to 'I'll look after her'

Re position: I was having a good poke about last night and I think the head was engaged as I couldn't feel the edge of my pubic bone but then I got a strong couple of BH (which I sometimes do at night, nothing at all to do with poking the baby Blush) and it definitely popped out and baby started going transverse as it really hurt and bump went really long sideways. This morning we are back to where we were before I poked I think as I'm getting kicks at the top and my ribs are really uncomfortable despite being sat up straight. Confused

ChickenMe · 22/02/2015 11:58

Was induction unpleasant the previous two times cinnamon? Have all your babies been high? Mine has never been high, not like when people talk about ribs getting bruised etc. S/he is a bladder and cervix worrier.
Do people bother with bio oil etc? I use cocoa butter occasionally but I'm lazy. I'm proud of my two stripes!
Squatting I will look up JoJo. RL H&M good for long vests and leggings with that long waist bit and jeans - can't stand it when things ride up.
DHs-mine is decent mainly but I think men are just shit at empathy Squatting If they haven't experienced something, they can't imagine it. I do think women are more resilient emotionally - even more so now. Men love to do the ostrich impression and avoid difficult things. It's like they know you will do it.
