I would try not to worry. The baby is well protected in there. "Popping" sounds either like movements or wind. I have it right now actually! Sinister things are cramping and bleeding. The top of your uterus is about half way between your pubic bone and your belly button at the moment. So chances are the kitten didn't land directly on it anyway. Keep an eye on it.

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 18/01/2015 23:41

misseskimo I really wouldn't worry, I regularly get kicked or jumped on my stomach by my DS who I'm sure is much bigger than your kitten! Baby is very well cushioned in there, probably just knocking back to see who's there Wink I would just rest up and see how you feel in the morning.

zampa a good sling (I.e. Suitable for newborn wrap-type) is a better position for baby than lying flat I think, just not a carrier. You might get a bit tired though if you're out and about a lot, also carrying shopping, nappy bag etc especially in the first few weeks. If you end up with a c-section you might also struggle with a sling initially. But no reason you can't plan to do it that way and then get a lie-flat buggy once baby is here if you find you need it, the sling on it's own might work perfectly for you and it's a big saving!

I had a stretchy wrap for DS which I love but didn't use it much the first couple of months as he got too hot (was a very hot baby, also July born) so would love recommendations for lighter/gauzy slings that are ok for newborns, if any of you find anything good at sling library please let me know! I'm thinking I'll really need it especially for carrying / breastfeeding baby at home while still being able to keep an eye on or play with DS.

Zampa · 19/01/2015 07:12

Thanks team! Will head to the sling library for advice.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 19/01/2015 07:21

Butler I've never taken my husband to a midwife appointment, he comes to the scans but we decided there was no point him coming out of work to watch me have my blood pressure done and wee dipped Smile. I've got to take 14 month DD on Tuesday and I'm sure she'll trash the room while I'm having my quad blood test Confused.

broodylicious · 19/01/2015 08:21

We've got a close caboo wrap/sling that we will use again for this baby. I don't think it was too hot but dd was a March baby so we will have to get it out and see, I guess. We've got a baby Bjorn too so will use that a bit too as it's really supportive on my back (always been a bit weak after falling off horse). I want a buckle carrier this time and have been looking at Tula and Ergo but I shan't be buying those for ages yet. I like the ergo because you can get a newborn insert but not sure if I need another for when bubba is old enough for back carries? There's a good page on fb called affordable baby slings for swap and sale - I joined to see what's available and what lots of people like/don't, then I'll go test some.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 19/01/2015 08:27

We just had a baby bjorn last time as a friend gave it to us however thinking of investing in a wrap sling this time. No idea where to start though!

Morning ladies,

Stats spreadsheet updated docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1p3idkH2TaQYAy22I_N73k1_-G6Ezq67lAdhQvDjQkU0/edit?pli=1#gid=0

I won't be having a 16 week appointment with the midwife, i'm full consultant care so will be seeing him / her on the 2nd Feb.

MsRyanGosling · 19/01/2015 09:20

I've been away fro quite a while - 3 full threads! I have been reading mostly but not had time to post.

I am always so knackered. Turns out I have iron def aenemia but they can't tell if I am also a carrier of Thalassemia as the blood results mimic each other.

At my 16 week antenatal the MW said I also have high BP...which I have never had before in any of my other three pregnancies....which were all boys.

I had a gender scan on Sat 16w5 and was eventually told after much moving about, can of coke and a toilet trip that we are expecting a GIRL!

After three sons it is quite a shock!

17w

MsRyanGosling · 19/01/2015 09:22

Sorry - a sexing scan Wink

Number3cometome · 19/01/2015 09:25

Lovely new Msryan!

I am hoping to have a sexing scan at 16 weeks

(also scared to call it gender scan haha)

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 19/01/2015 09:50

Great news MsRyan! Toying with the idea of a private sexing scan but DH just keeps telling me to be patient!

Tilly73 · 19/01/2015 10:10

Could you add me number3 I'm always on my app and can't get to the laptop at the moment
DC2 4/7/15 41years young
16+2 today
20 week scan 18/2
Thanks

Tilly73 · 19/01/2015 10:12

This is DC3 sorrySmile

Number3cometome · 19/01/2015 10:20

I found a sexing scan for £39

www.ultrasound-direct.com/

Natanotherone · 19/01/2015 10:23

I think the ergo with newborn insert will maybe be too warm July / August, although as we get into autumn / winter it should be nice and snuggly.
I think I am going to get a connecta for quick up / downs this time. But will probably visit the sling library and try a few buckles beforehand.
Considering booking a gender scan for Thursday. Bit skint at the moment though so will decide later. They do a quick one for £39

JoY007 · 19/01/2015 10:27

Morning Ladies,

How is everyone feeling today? Congrats on the girl news MsRyanGosling

I am wearing my puffy jacket today sooo cold, I look like the Michelin man Grin.

GP appointment went well checked urine, BP, and hb reluctantly. Apparently it is difficult to decipher btw the 3 main sounds before 20 weeks using the Doppler. The main sounds are swooshing placenta, your aorta, and baby's hb. Good to know.

Butler4 · 19/01/2015 10:30

No hb check at my 16w this morning. Just measured my stomach and told me I'm measuring perfect. Blood pressure and urine sample. Still no downs test results letter. My 12 week scan was 23rd dec! Ach well, not worried about it anyway.

MsRyanGosling · 19/01/2015 10:34

Thanks :) Still shocked. My eldest son is nearly 17 so I've had many a year of 'boy stuff' to contend with!

I went to Ultrasound Direct/Babybond in Mothercare in Leeds. The guy doing it was brilliant, he also works for the NHS in my hospital.

At my 16w app MW listened in to the HB for all of 5 seconds. Didn't measure me though.

Natanotherone · 19/01/2015 10:37

MissRyanGosling I have always gone to meet your baby before, is the babybond ones at Mothercare Crownpoint? I live Bradford way but work in Calverley :)

Number3cometome · 19/01/2015 10:39

Does anyone else think this measuring thing is a whole load of bollocks?

I was never measured with DS or DD, but midwife commented my stomach was quite small with DS (who was born weighing 9lb Hmm )

I feel like saying I don't want to be measured? Maybe because it's DC3 or maybe because I am a miserable hormonal cow, but I am fed up of being told what size / weight I should be. I am already under the threat of a diabetes test because DD was born on the 92nd centile at 38 weeks.

FFS some people just have bigger babies, she wasn't huge!!

I am a miserable cow aren't I? it's ok, you can say it!

Ceejay14 · 19/01/2015 10:42

Thanks for the link number - that's such a good price for the scan. Now time to talk DH into not waiting until 20 weeks for the NHS scan... Grin

WantToGoingTo · 19/01/2015 10:44

Our first sex scan! Congrats mrsryan how exciting to be having your first girl :)

Just got my nt results back - 1:24582 so v pleased! Officially classified as low risk :) and dr also said (she rang me with results) that placenta looks really good so minimal chance of any other chromosomal abnormalities. Good news all round!

Struggling at work today, bosses boss aka the b!?*$ has already been giving me grief. She is impossible! Oh well less than 5 months to go!

DH and I started planning the work we need to do on house in order to get the nursery sorted. It is a lot Shock going to take us at least 8 weeks! We have to insulate and board loft in order to get rid of all our crap up there, rip out fitted wardrobes in our bedroom so we can move free standing ones out of the nursery, strip wallpaper, create an airing cupboard, new skirting boards, electrics and sockets, plastering... And that's before we've even picked up a paint brush. Best get a move on then! I think I may camp out at the hotel of mum and dad whilst the wallpaper being stripped Wink all those nasty fumes. Be great when it's done though, can't wait for the finished product just all the hassle on between first!

Hope all you ladies having a lovely Monday

MsRyanGosling · 19/01/2015 10:50

Yes it is at Crown Point :)

I went to Meet Your Baby at 10w and thought they were very good. The just didn't have the app when I wanted to go and I didn't want to wait ! ha!

I don't like being measured either. DS3 was 10lb 7.5oz and the MW kept saying 'oh no I don't think he will be as big as the consultant (I was under at the time) thinks' ! Hmm

I have to have GTT because of DS3 ^ even though I had it then and din't have it. At my hospital you have to be there really early in the AM. Yuk!

Natanotherone · 19/01/2015 10:50

Number3 I had massive issues with the measuring thing last time.

Midwife kept saying baby was small and that I had stopped growing (around 33 weeks) after seeing me weekly a few weeks she referred me to the consultant and for a scan. Consultant agreed I had stopped growing and baby was small. went for scan and baby was measuring full term at 40 weeks.

Spent the next few weeks up until delivery being scare mongered by my midwife and consultant who kept saying again baby is small and I should opt for a hospital birth just incase. Even though the scan showed a perfectly good sized baby!

I followed my instincts and had a healthy baby girl at 41 weeks weighing 8lb6oz at home. Nothing was every wrong, she was clearly just lying in a funny position or tucked right up.

So this time i'm just taking these measurements with a pinch of salt, obviously if they are concerned I will follow it up but I spent days in tears worrying there was something wrong, finished work early because of the stress as well.

Number3cometome · 19/01/2015 10:57

Can I say no to the Diabetes test?

I don't want it, I didn't have GD before, and I am sure I don't have it now.

I think because I already have the pre-eclampsia and high blood pressure threat as well as my spinal fusion hanging over me, I just want to be left alone where possible!

I am very naughty actually as I haven't had my blood pressure checked in a few weeks, it just stresses me out and makes me worse I am sure.

I am taking my medication as usual (which runs out this week, so I will HAVE to get it checked on Thursday).

I'm not trying to be irresponsible, I just think that they overload me with worry and I end up spending my life down the doctors when I could just be not thinking about it and not worrying!
