Morning!

NJ, good luck for today's appt. Hope you managed to sleep last night.

Here's another textbook classic: towards the end of pg they say it is normal to experience slight swelling in your feet/ankles. How about lots of it, my lower legs and feet are like an elephants in the evening, LOL!I'm not worried about it as BP and urine are fine, it's gravity as I'm either on my feet on sitting at the computer all day!

I've still been getting the pins and needles and stiffness in my hands at night that I've had for ages - it's carpal tunnel. Also get it during the day if I hold anything for a while like the pushchair handles or the steering wheel.

I've also been full of cold these last few days, waking up a lot at night all bunged up, but had a better night's sleep last night.

A few weeks ago DH and I had a big row which caused lots of crying from me, he said I'd been getting at him for weeks! Not bl**dy surprising, I think my hormones were worse then. He knows better than to moan about the house. At least he's started doing a bit more now after not having been well for 2 weeks, he hoovered on mon evening and washes up while I do the kids' bath.

I feel better now physically (hence sunday's walk), baby has moved down a bit. This is normal for me, to feel sht from about 30-36 weeks then pick up in the last couple of weeks! Hope it's like that for the rest of you who are feeling crp now - that you feel better towards the end!

40Weeks · 18/10/2006 10:17

Morning all

Lots to catch up on this morning!
Mummy2Toby I am feeling for you - moan away! Thats what this place is for
NJ hope it goes well - I know you hate pain killers but sounds like codeine might help you from what Sarahlou is saying - I havent yest et anyone that they havent worked on and know a few people that have had them for chronic migraines and after a back operation? Just to help you sleep at least.
Two more weeks at work, moving on Saturday, finishing packing tomorrow and Sat morning and then me and the girls are going to a health spa on Sunday for the night and having a facial and pregnancy massage - I cant wait - I need a rest from lugging this enormous bump around

Delia · 18/10/2006 10:19

Morning

NJ - good luck for this morning, am thinking of you.

Now a small moan ......... my washing machine's broke (aghhhhhhhhhh) got my dad coming to look at it as he thinks the pumps gone but there's water all in the bottom and I had to take the last load to my mum's soaking wet just to get it rinsed and spun. Not a happy bunny. why do these things happen at the wrong time?

harrogatemum · 18/10/2006 10:24

Morning all - I have just been to midwife - baby still transverse/oblique so got to go back again in a fortnight as she says it is running out of space to turn. I dont want to have a section!! What can I do to encourage baby to get it's head down!!!

Also my blood pressure was 88/50, it is always low but she said this is really low, does anyone know if low blood pressure is a problem and what it means?

NJ - keep us updated on how things go today.

Delia · 18/10/2006 10:30

I'm told that getting on all fours is a good way to try to encorage your lo into a good poition and also sitting astride a high backed chair leaning forward on to the back of it. can't really be much help though i'm afraid. I'm sure the others will have lots of advice though.

40Weeks · 18/10/2006 10:34

Hello Harrogate Mum - apparently reflexology is excellent for turning the baby - a woman I know had the same thing as they wanted to keep her in hospital until the birth (at 34 weeks!) just in case she went into labour but she had reflexology and said the baby turned the next day. Got to be worth a try. How many weeks are you? Also try sitting on a dining chair back to front, leaning forward on a pillow (maybe while your fave TV show is on) this is meant to rely purely on gravity.
Not sure about low blood pressure - it cant have worried the MW though - what did she say about it?

Mygirl - whats a home confinement pack? Is it to do with homebirth as I am having one and keep being told that someone will come round with stuff but never sure when!? Am seeing MW on Fri though so should sort it then. They wont do it before 37 weeks anyway (next week) as if I do go into labour before then, they would want me to go to hospital....
My brilliant DH is treating me to the health spa, and going with 7 of my lovely non PG friends to spend some quality time together before the whirlwind arrives! I cant tell you how much I need it though - just so busy all the time what with moving to my Mums, buying a new house and organising the refurb of that, getting our flat cleaned & painted ready for renting, buying and selling a car, getting the baby stuff we need together and not finishing work until 2 weeks before D-Day! Ahhhhh why have I dont this to myself?

Deep breath....and relax.....

Debz99 · 18/10/2006 11:57

Carpel Tunnel is a PITA mine has got worse, pins and needles really bad in the night along with all the other bloody aches and pains and during the day two of my finger tips are completley numb. Grrrrr....

Hi,

I'm due on Nov 24 with second child (one dd, and this is another girl, they say!).

Have lurked but haven't posted on here before. But I'm so pleased that my baby has turned head down after being breech for weeks and weeks that I needed to tell someone!

Am now 35 weeks, so fingers crossed it'll stay that way. Hoping for a hospital VBAC after a nightmare labour last time.

NJ you must be completely knackered - Last time my waters broke and I had contractions for 4 days (4-5 mins apart). I was starting to hallucinate! I was even napping between contractions . Was glad when it was all over. All those contractions are doing something, but I know it can feel like you're getting nowhere.

MW asked today if I had a birth plan, and I said after last time the idea of a 'plan' seemed laughable.

NatalieJane · 18/10/2006 13:27

Well I am still here. I have just spent an hour and a half waiting to be seen (appointment was at 11, we got to see the consultant about 12.30) all she did was the same checks that the midwife did yesterday, listened to my tales of woe and sent me on my merry way with the same instructions as the midwife, if they get regular again to go to the hospital, I am fuming!!! She has given me a prescription for some strong painkillers that DH can pick up for me on the way home from work, and that's it.

Poor DH we got in the front door and I just burst into tears, I really cannot take this for another 8 weeks. I can't physically, or mentally for that matter, do it.

Anyway, the consultant wants to see me again in two weeks if we are still waiting then. LOL I think I will be on my hands and knees praying for her to induce me by then!

Debz99 · 18/10/2006 13:39

I know you not a fan of the pain killers NJ but give them a go. I would not wait 2 weeks if they do nothing though .. insist on seeing someone again in a few days especially if you're not sleeping even if it's the midwife, she might be able to sort something out for you.

Debz99 · 18/10/2006 13:40

Welcome Fondant Good news about LO turning

Well the consultant said that the baby is a good size for the dates (not worryingly huge or anything, but she said he felt big enough not to cause any problems) and she said she is very confident that if he was to come now he would be fine and healthy, so I'm not worried about actually going into labour now, although obvously the longer he stays put the better. And even if I go to the hospital tonight, if they conclude that it isn't labour they will only send me home, and then I will be still waiting the two weeks to see the consultant again.

MIL hasn't even rang today to see if everything is OK, for all she knows I could have had the baby by now, with DS being at the hospital all night or anything... bitch, cowbag, and every other horrible name I can think of!! I can't believe that she would rather put a four year old, and worse her own grandson, through all of that, than leave her f*ing cats with her boyfriend for the night.

HopingCat · 18/10/2006 14:59

Hi all. It is really hard to catch up when you're not on here every day! Every time I come on here I expect to read about the first birth. There are so many of us due within the next 3 weeks that it's not like it is unreasonable to expect news of babies is it?

Nothing to report here. Baby is 4/5 engaged, but as someone said earlier you don't have to be engaged to go into labour. I still feel like it may never happen and I will have this bump for years to come.

Hope those of you who are really struggling have their babies soon. I want mine out, but I feel I shouldn't be so impatient when there are people on here suffering more than me.

Anyone else noticed we haven't heard from LeBe for a while? I know she doesn't have internet at home but she said she'd be on here at weekends. Maybe the first baby is here and we don't know it yet.

40Weeks · 18/10/2006 15:01

NJ - she has a boyfriend? 1) How? and 2) Why cant he stay with the cats - is she on a power trip and likes to feel like she is controlling you? Oh well her tough you-know-whats, when she doesnt get to meet her new grandson til next June (estimated time-scale for you and YDH to calm down about this)

Debz99 · 18/10/2006 15:17

Ooooh HC hadn't realised we had not heard from Lebe for a while how terrible of us hope things are ok with her !

I keep looking at the October Ante-natal and then feel well guilty about wanting baby out, some are still waiting on that thread ! I know mines close to October as I'm due 5th November but still feel guilty for moaning so much when some on there are still waiting. Hope all of our come on due dates or a little before

40weeks, she is just on her own little planet where everything revolves around her. She really is one of the most, if not the most selfish people I have ever met. She doesn't give a shit what people think when she lets them down, her dughter (DH's sister) had skin cancer a couple of years ago (when MIL was driving the car we had bought her) her daughter doesn't drive and asked MIL to take her to the hospital as a one off for her chemo because she couldn't afford the taxi fare to get there and back, MIL said no because she had flu, which she is 60-odd years old so if she had flu then she obviously shouldn't have been going anywhere, but the next week I had a normal common cold, she asked if I had had this flu bug that was going around, I said no it was just a cold, and she said well that is all I had really, but we northerners call it flu... so she didn't drive her own daughter to the hospital for a chemo session because she had a sodding blocked up nose!!!

And yet all of her kids would run to the end of the earth to please her, probably something to do with her abandoning them all as children....!

God I feel better for that!! LOL Sorry again for the long post!

Tinasan · 18/10/2006 15:35

Hello ladies,

Haven't been on for ages as have started maternity leave - I can't believe we are still waiting for the first birth! I had an appointment with the consultant today as I'm now 38+2 and have high BP (I had it before I got pregnant and luckily it hasn't got too out of control). Anyway the consultant doesn't want me to go past my due date, so I've been booked in for an induction on 30th October, assuming the baby doesn't come between now and then. I am kind of shell-shocked - have just realised that I really am about to have a baby!!!!

Hope everyone's aches and pains aren't too bad today - I am suffering from a stinking cold and terrible backache and it does make me miserable!

Debz99 · 18/10/2006 15:47

How exciting Tinasan your baby will be with you on either 30th or 31st October ! You will probably be the first ...lucky you I bet it is a scary thought as well though ... keep us posted !

Charleesunnysunsun · 18/10/2006 15:56

Afternoon all

I have seen the midwife today and baby is fine, head down not engaged but laying back to back so i have been told to keep on my hands and knees as much as possible.

My b/p is still fine and the blood has gone from my urine sample but the protiene has returned but not enough for them to worry. I mentioned the few pinky leakages i have had and they said if it happens again to go to labour ward and to ask the consultant for a fluid scan on friday to check my waters haven't gone slowly.

Contractions are still strong and the midwifes are still adimant they want me to be induced at 38 weeks as they're worried i will labour very quickly as its in the family history and my sisters 2nd baby was born in the space of 15mins on her bathroom floor also with all my meds it would be easier so im havng to ask the consultant about that aswell.
