Good news all round then Charlee - a quick labour, what a comforting thought! Shame about the pain you are in now though

Charleesunnysunsun · 18/10/2006 16:56

Twas quite funny really the midwife said 'do you get any fluid leaking after intercourse?' to which i answered

'intercourse whats that?'

Im seeing the consultant again friday and the friday after aswell and i don't have to see the midwife again untill 1st Nov so thats another 2 weeks yet.

spinamum · 18/10/2006 17:20

HIJACK

Just popping over from December to see if you guys had any babies yet. Best of luck for the next few weeks. It's making it feel even closer for me now that you're all in the final weeks.

NJ, I've seen your other thread.I'm thinking of you. Hope it eases off for a few weeks for you.

NatalieJane · 18/10/2006 17:48

Tinasan - isn't it a relief when you know that there is a definate end date? I remember with my first, when the consultant gave me the induction date, I was so relaxed about it all after that!
Charlee - sounds like they are keeping a good eye on you, that is encouraging!!
Spinamum - thanks for the kind wishes

fatbetty · 18/10/2006 17:59

It sounds like you all are busy with midwife appts and scans! Glad to hear that everyone is healthy and doing well (for the most part!). I feel like I've hardly seen a midwife and haven't even been to the hospital yet for a tour. This is my third baby and almost 36 weeks. Have lots of questions though for my midwife who I'm seeing tomorrow. Finding very painful when sleeping as my bump tends to shift completely to one side. Is anybody else finding that? Don't remember being this uncomfortable with the last 2.

NatalieJane · 18/10/2006 18:04

FB, I also haven't done the tour yet, or even have a clue where the labour ward is at the hospital!

When I was pregnant with DS he shift his whole body into one side, could literally see the shape of him on (normally) my left hand side, with there being a big gap on the right side! With this one, I can feel his bulk is laying in the same place as DS was but it is no where near as severely as the first one!

Kif · 18/10/2006 18:57

Ooof, that's it, gone on mat leave. Need it with how tired I've been recently - and my blood pressure worries.

Feel really deflated... always do at the end of a job... you work really hard, and it's really important, and suddenly stop that's it. Got some mothercare vouchers and cute baby gap stuff to soften the blow - and spent most of today hosting cakes at my desk. Apparently my boss tried out his speech on the team, and got heavily censored for innapropriate jokes about paternity etc! (but in a funny way, of course, not a nasty way).

Feel a little sad to have to leave this job - I liked it and I was just starting to flirt with competence. It's all sods-law timing, isn't it? I bet when i come back off mat leave, i'll spend years in jobs I'm not so keen on! If I come back, that is.

Charleesunnysunsun · 18/10/2006 19:01

Fatbetty - DS used to shift his position at night i could tell the time by him becuase at 6pm every night on the dot he would shift his bottom in the air so i could see the outline of it perfectly it was quite funny but painfull like you say.

On another note we just brought a caravan! A friend of MIL'S was selling one cheap and MIL knows of a frienly little site a little way from us so we brought it and were going to put it on site for weekends away since we haven;t been able to afford a holiday for a while so that's pretty cool. Its nice to have something from 'everyday life' to take my mind of baby things and contractions.

NatalieJane · 18/10/2006 23:31

Kif, I take it going back to that job after maternity leave (if that's what you decide to do) is out of the question?

Charlee, how lovely to have somewhere to retreat to?! If I were you, I would ban all the kids and DH and just have it as your special place to yourself!!

Well, Mygirl, tell me all about this home birth malarky please, I think I have gone crazy enough to be considering it, (obviously if I make it to 37 weeks and not have to be induced there after!).

staceym11 · 19/10/2006 02:46

well yet again..........as everyone can see i cant sleep as per fukcing usual!!!!!!! sorry language but im sooooooo fed up of it all now. just want some sleep!!!

mygirl...havnt managed a reading age but have got a working age by sorting out a few different aged tests papers (in english and math) and seeing how well he did on each. am getting the stuff from his tutors from aus tomo so will let you know if theres anything good on there. no havnt had a chance to look yet, will try and have a look over the next week as tutoring is tomo and then next thurs and tomo is all planned with a reading assessment (from stairway to reading) and english and math exercises!

NJ hope you have some luck and the pain killers work.....wish i had a reason for not sleeping, sounds really odd but my legs feel like iv got blood clots (not that i know how that feels but it feels like the blood isnt flowing properly) and my feet feel hot, swollen and itchy but arent swollen at all and arent really hot....its very odd. also get a feeling in my hands where it feels like the blood doesnt make it past my wrists properly......feels really odd and dont know how to describe it!!

well with dh off i dotn feel sooooo bad (other than the not sleeping which is a real bugger) didtn cry once today...oh except nearly once but that was just coz of a really painful contraction! still on and off with the contractions tho so nothing in the near future here!

right after 2 hours of sitting up on my own i am going to try and attempt sleep again...dont worry if i cant manage it il be back to let you know!

staceym11 · 19/10/2006 04:43

aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

does anyone know if there are any sleeping tablets that can be taken while pg????

i cant believe that its nearly 5 in the morning and i havnt even slept one wink yet, its driving me absolutely crazy!!!!!!

please someone tell me theres something i can take. if not i might have to make calls to midwife etc and ask for and induction on grounds of both insanity and exhaustion! if this goes on much longer there'll be no way i can get this baby out, il be too damn tired!!!!!

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 08:03

Morning Stacey and everyone else !

Poor you Stacey I can at least get off to sleep, I don't stay asleep but I am in bed and dozing in between painful SPD and needing the loo. Saying that LO must have shifted positions as I am only getting up out of bed once to go to the loo and did actually manage a whole night of not getting out of bed the other day! Doubt there is anything you can take for insomnia as we can only take paracetmol normally for anything !!!!!

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 08:46

Hey guess what? I HAD SOME SLEEP!!!!!!

Will catch up properly after I have dropped DS off, but wanted to share my good news! (Sorry Stacey, not meaning to rub it in!! )

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 08:50

Some advice please ladies ... here I go again LOL ! I'm begining to swell up ! Just the one ankle, has swollen up before, but once rested it went back to normal, however yesterday by the time I got home from work it was really swollen as well as my foot and the calf of my leg felt tight too, it went down a little and looked better when I got up this morning, however after just 2 hours of being up and sitting at my desk its swollen again. Do I leave it and speak to midwife on Wednesday next week or go and see the doc?? Its not painful, just a little uncomfortable/tight, my BP check last week was normal, no headaches, and no swelling anywhere else.

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 08:50

NJ thats good news how are the pains?

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 09:10

Debz, I would keep an eye on the swelling, any headaches, feeling sick, loss of vision/focus, go to the doctors for a BP check, but just swelling on it's own is quite normal, you wait till you have him, I couldn't get my shoes on for nearly two weeks after DS was born because of the size of my feet! I have pictures of them and you honestly wouldn't know they were my feet!! It is strange though, my mum had five girls, her ankles only puffed up when she had me, none of the others made her swell, and of the 5 of us that have had children already, the only one to swell up was me!! LOL Sorry, I find that quite interesting in a weirdo way! LOL

The contractions came on very strong last night, but they are further apart, only 2 or 3 in an hour, sometimes 4, but they haven't stopped today yet, normally by now they are long gone, but I am still getting them.

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 09:19

Thanks NJ I had kind of decided to see how it goes but thought I would get advice from the professionals first LOL !

No real change on the pain front then, just further apart so you can get some sleep !

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 09:26

It is caused by the extra blood in your body, the extra blood carries extra liquid that seeps into little pockets in your skin (or something like that!!) which obviously leads to the skin appearing puffy or swollen. Meant to say keep an eye out for your face swelling as well, that is another tell-tale sign of pre-eclampsia.

Where is Mygirl when you need her?!! I have been waiting all night for her wisdom on home births and she has dissapeared!

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 09:33

No swollen face ... thank god! But my Carpel Tunnel has got worse so it kind of all adds up really finger tips are quite numb today too !

Come back mygirl put NJ out of her misery !!

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 09:39

Have you got one of those splint things to wear on your wrist (that is what they do for CTS isn't it?)

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 09:42

I have but to be honet the material they are made from make you sweat like buggery so I have not bothered with them ... terrible I know LOL !

harrogatemum · 19/10/2006 09:48

Thanks for the advice on turning the baby from everyone! I will spend this evening backwards on a dining room chair to see what I can do!

Welcome to Fondant - we are due on the same day 24th Nov - you should add yourself to our stats....its a loooong list!

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 09:49

Debz, try putting some talc on your wrist before you put the splint on, should stop any sweating.

HMum, good luck with the chair

Debz99 · 19/10/2006 09:51

Thanks NJ hadn't thought of that .. now where did I throw them ... mmmmm....?

NatalieJane · 19/10/2006 09:53

LOL, If you have been anywhere near as skatty brained as me during this pregnancy, look in the very last place you expect them to be is my advice!
