HI Guys, I am still confused, so please join me on this one.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EliBoo · 23/10/2006 14:59

Indith, that is true...but on the other hand, I expect to know (wrongly) and you do not

Judesmum, I was up between 3am and 5.30am...even logged onto MN and posted to someone in Oz...we should start a club for insomniacs to meet in cyber space. Hope your stair gate and dh are still intact, but do know the feeling!

VanillaMilkshake · 23/10/2006 16:30

Hmm, maternity clothes....I have lots of tops that are fine, but as far as bottoms go I have a black linen skirt for work and a pair of strechy non-maternity joggers for everything else, on account of the adjustable elastic strap snapping in my mat jeans. DH's aunt has said she will repair them again this weekend. But I dont hold much hope for them lasting the rest of the PG.

MW has given me a ticket to get signed off for the rest of the PG if needed, by writing on my notes that large vein in leg throbs if leg not up. will go back to work tomorrow and see how I get on. If not good I will get signed off for the remaining two and a half weeks. Sounds like I am skiving I know...but am just so fed up with this whole lark! Finished work early with DD under protest, but this time I can't wait to go.

By the way keep meaning to ask what do all your PG notes look like. Mine are full of inserts from hospital and added pages where space has run out, and are very dog-eared. Keep seeing lots of other mums-to-be with very smart notes all kept in their Bounty folders - keep wondering if they are first-timers or just very organised?? MW just laughs and says they are 'proper' notes.

Loulou000 · 23/10/2006 16:38

My notes look like no one has really bothered to write in them, which is what they are. There's that page in the middle where the midwife notes that she's seen me and doesn't really add anything else that might be useful. So quite smart but quite useless!

stokeymonkey · 23/10/2006 18:01

snap! I got told off by my horrible MW for not carrying my notes everywhere I go, but to be honest, there's nothing in them. Just dates of appointments and a load of normal blood test & bp results...all v dull, though not at all dog-eared!

VanillaMilkshake · 23/10/2006 19:26

How's everyones appetites? I had homemade blackcherry crumble and ice cream for tea?

accessorizequeen · 23/10/2006 20:03

evenin'. just stuffed my face with fish n'chip so that prob. answers ur q, Vanilla Wish I had some choc to go with it now, may have to drag myself to the shop.
I finally got iron results today, castles, 12.6 which is appparently fantastic. So if I'm not actually low in iron but spatone making this much difference, go for it! I am still feeling so much better & sleeping better too (tho both dp & ds out of the way for the w'end made a difference there...).
I have to leave now to order some maternity clothes, if I come back tell me to go away unless I've bought some! Bought a mcare top on ebay on the 1st Sept & still not recvd it, so v.pissed off & not bothering with it again. Could get here & I'll not fit into it!
LOL at Judemum wanting to bash dh with stairgate (is it still in box?) & Eli, cos really you will remember how to change a baby when it comes to it!!! Can you borrow a friend's? We practiced on a blue bunny toy before ds1 born, I watched the video the other day wetting myself. I wailed at ever increasing volume whilst dp had to bathe, dry and change bunny. As he ended up changing all the nappies for a week as I couldn't bend after section, it was clearly good practice.
And we have a name for ds22b, yayayayay.

accessorizequeen · 23/10/2006 20:04

castles, 4got to say, spatone having no constipating effects on me at all & I've been taking a double dose all week. Hope it works for you.

spinamum · 23/10/2006 20:23

my mat notes are very neat because I've only had three appointments so far. As my last pg was low risk it has been presumed this one is as well. As I left the room, MW shouted at me "it is the same dad isn't it? No worries then!" Sorry but my basic grasp of genetics suggests that perhaps there might be a diff combo of genes in this kid! But so far so good, (so damn it) I may have to accept that MW does know something. I did buy a blood pressure monitor due to three month gap in Midwifery Care! So every time I felt dizzy or had flashing lights I did a quick check!

Had made decision to be NICE to my son and apologised to him for being impatient and cranky recently. Apparantly he loves me and my kisses are good! Hooray! He has taken to grading all our friends and families kissing skills.

spinamum · 23/10/2006 20:29

Oh I forgot!!! Gu chocolate brownies! Good for now! individually wrapped so possibly good for labour bag/hospital bag. Small so you can eat two (or give one to DC) and not feel too guilty.
Girls they're the way forward. Cheered me up when in mid hormonal meltdown.

Magnolia, hope the floor is sorted. I can imagine the scene. It sounds like weekend DIY chez Spin! Judemum,LOL at stairgate. hope DH still in one piece!
AQ, congrats on name. we're still stuck on a middle one.

Gloria42 · 23/10/2006 20:50

Hello! Not posted for AGES as v stressed out at work. Every time I log in, takes me all my time to read other messages and have no time to add anything .
Marron - mega congrats ! Gorgeous name too!
Must admit has brought it home that I will actually have one of my own in the none-too-distant future!
My bump has been on the quiet side yesterday and today, then moves and stretches right up under my ribs. This seems quite normal judging by your posts! Must be a giant I think!

spinamum · 23/10/2006 21:02

Gloria, I was one of the quiet bumps until I managed to spend yesterday on my bum and LO has kicked me constantly for almost 24 hours. I think Magnolia reassuringly mentioned growth spurts causing quieter bumps,so I've being sticking to that theory. Mine has done quite a lot of growing in that case. My DS has a "where do babies come from?" book (we just look at the pictures. He hasn't asked me any BIG questions yet) We were looking at the baby at differant stages of pg pictures last night and my eyes began to water at the "baby at nine months-actual size" graphic. I'm sure the head's not really that size.(I refuse to get my ruler out to confirm 10cm!)

Gloria42 · 23/10/2006 21:16

Spina, been trying not to worry as could still feel movement (swelling on different parts of bump) but is definitely reassuring when it kicks! will miss that when baby comes....
This is my first so no explanations required about where babies comes from (think DP has grasped that part!) but i think there have been some interesting conversations with my godson (4)!

jabberwocky · 23/10/2006 22:17

So what is this about notes? Some things are so different over there!

As far as visits go, I think I have one of the 2 week ones then I go to every week and then...

Got my official c-section date today!!! It is the 4th just like I tried to tell them at the desk last time. Dh is a bit put-off because we have to check in at 5:30 am but I reminded him it's always better to have a fresh surgical team than one later in the day. Also less likely to have things running behind schedule.

As far as cots, we are using the co-sleeper that we had with ds in our room. But, since the remodeling won't be totally finished in time I am thinking about putting our daybed in the nursery downstairs along with the Amby bed and staying with lo there while dh sleeps in our bedroom upstairs where ds's current room is.
It's a bit more complicated than I had hoped but probably will work out for the best in the long run. Dh was not supportive at alllast time.

EliBoo · 23/10/2006 22:47

Congrats on the date, Jabberwocky! Wow, that sounds soon - but odds are I'll have had mine by then too

AQ, good idea. Friend jsut had a baby, but as dd been exposed to chickenpox have to wait a couple of weeks before visiting...thing is, I'm going to try reusables this time: never done it before! And struggled with BFing last time, so bit nervous about that too. Aaaahhh..this is moving into a different zone: I'm much more comfortable with pregnancy woes

Am very itchy, all over, tonight. Can't sit still, horrid. Am going to take a second cool shower and go to bed...hopefully, hopefully, to sleep.

EliBoo · 23/10/2006 22:48

Oh, and Vanilla....my appetite on full steam ahead mode now: maybe catching up from weeks I wasn't well and not hungry, but suspect its just that last growth spurt kicking in! I'm going with it, anyway...

Carameli · 24/10/2006 08:37

hi all, gosh it feels like I am missing out on so much here. We move on Friday so just never get time at the moment. Its been going well though, lots of family have been helping us pack so that I don't do too much and making sure I rest as well. But I still feel so so tired. Also nausea has come back over the past week, had it with my dd(now 3) but thought that with having a boy I might get away with it this time.
Maroon, wow thats fab news about your baby. The same thing happened to my friend's sister about a month ago and she is also fine.

well will hopefully be back online again next week and with broadband(finally).

judemum · 24/10/2006 09:08

Morning all. Got home last night, feeling kanckered after a full day's work on 4 hour's sleep and nursing a cold. DH had taken day off work to nurse his cold and had then booked himself for a reflexology session last night (he's not normally that zen...honest). So left me to bathe and put to bed DS, accept the tescos delivery and put it all away and then cook dinner
I was so mad with him and stomped around the whole time waiting for him to get home and rehearsing all the nasty things I was going to say and then, when he walked in the door, all relaxed and sleepy looking, I pounced, burst into tears on him, told him he was selfish and generally made him feel bad for the rest of the evening. Felt much better afterwards and he's been sooooo lovely ever since. Don't care if he thinks I'm manipulative.. he DESERVED it and I do feel a whole lot better today . God, I hope none of you are marriage counsellors or anything.......

castlesintheair · 24/10/2006 09:13

Good luck with the move, Carmelli. Pleased to hear you have lots of help.

Exciting stuff Jabber! I am booked for the 6th December so 2 days after you, that's if I can hang in there that long. At this rate it will be next week!

So pleased to hear you are feeling better AQ. I must get some of this amazing stuff.

My notes are a bulging, dog-eared mess, as usual. I was so embarrassed at my checking in with m/w when she produced my last set from DD, complete with brown smudgy cover, from where I spilt coffee ("tut tut, should you be drinking that?"!!) all over them

Feel terrible as I've just sent my Dad an e-mail on the insistence of my family telling him he can't stay here for the whole 2 weeks including Xmas. Now just waiting for the lightening to strike me down ... better stay at home today

castlesintheair · 24/10/2006 09:23

Jude, my DH came home from work early last night in time for DC's supper/bath. Ha! After I had made him a cup of tea, grumbling about the amount of tomatoes I had put in the bolognese sauce, he went upstairs to his study, only appearing at 7.30 (when DCs in bed) to devour huge portion of said spag bol and run round the living room like a lunatic when he got nearly every question right (sickening) on University Challenge. I lay on the sofa toying with the idea of sticking my leg out to trip him over.

He is lovely and he does work very hard and he is studying for exams and he is a brilliant father and cook BUT it is me that is suffering here AND it was him that got me into this flippin' mess in the 1st place ...

Indith · 24/10/2006 09:23

So pregnancy, pregnancy is fine. Used to pregnancy, could go on like this for a while. Now the logical bit is that there will be a baby at the end. I did A level biology I know the basic outcome of it all. But that means that at some point in around 9 weeks time there will be a real live little person and it has to come out of me!

Ok Ok some of you have been there before but still. How odd is that?

I think the major panic is slowly setting in each time the week slips by and I head ever so slowly closer to the magic number 40.......

The 4th Jabber! wow! Its becoming so real, we are all having little people!

Sorry, I'll be off, sure I have a blog for this sort of random musing.......

judemum · 24/10/2006 09:53

Castles- I have a boffin DH too- we also watched Uni Challenge and as he shouted out all the answers and looked at me for praise, I sobbed quietly into my quiche, hoping and praying I would be able to sleep. As you say, its him that got me into this fine mess. And despite it all he's alright really!

jabberwocky · 24/10/2006 10:04

Got the new car seat yesterday after I posted. It's a Britax decathlon and is simply the bomb! I also saved $55 by getting a discontinued pattern - which I happen to think looks fab.

AQ, glad the spatone is working. Very since we don't have it here.

judemum, I am actually considering giving dh my massage appt. this month (our town is so small we only have a therapist once a month who comes to the B&B) as he has been moaning about his neck for ages. I'm feeling pretty righteous about it now, but wonder if I'll have the same reaction as you afterward?

Indith, the first time I was in total shock. The whole pregnancy felt more about me being pregnant vs. me growing a baby IYKWIM and it seemed really foreign to have ds at the end of it. This time I have really bonded with the baby much more throughout the pregnancy, so am wondering how that might make things different.

Can't remember if I asked if you had glamourmom nursing tanks over there. I ordered two yesterday. I never tried the whole "nursingwear" thing last time, but as I never managed to get the hang of discrete nursing I decided to give it a try this go around.

Elliboo, can you take something like benadryl fore the itching? Not sure what it's called over there, but it's on my approved OTC meds list and can help with itching as well as cold symptoms.

So, castles, do you have to keep up with your records for each visit or is this something in addition to the record at the office? Over here, we just show up and they do all the recordkeeping. Although, I am trying to get a copy of my records from last time before I talk to the anesthesiologist about my epidural. I would love to avoid the whole shivering side effect this time around if I could.

VanillaMilkshake · 24/10/2006 10:07

Morning everyone.

Jabber, congrats on your date. Wish vag birth dates could be like that . About the notes, we all hae to carry our PG notes around with us over here, but we are given a large plastic wallet to keep them in. But I dont bother and as such mine are tatty and bulging with al the inserts from the hosp and additional pages where I have run out of room.

DH asked last night if I wanted to use either of my mum's names as a middle name if we have a girl - could'nt let him see but it was such a nice thing for him to say that I nearly cried. Now if bump comes on mum's birthday as well it will be a realy fitting tribute to her. Asked what he would say to his mum if she caused a stink about it and he said basically that baby already had thier surname so she did'nt ave a leg to stand on!
Sometomes DH/DP's really drive you crazy, then they comes out with something like that and I could just hug him and hug him

jabberwocky · 24/10/2006 10:18

Awww, that's really sweet of him.

So what happens if you forget your notes when you show up for a visit? Sorry to keep asking so many questions. I guess I'm just overly inquisitive about how different our pre-natal experiences are.
