I made this same mistake last time jabber, didn't buy anything nice, I am an idiot! Haven't even managed to buy jeans or a cardigan which I would wear constantly as the weather is closing in. I have tried but most of the high street stuff won't fit my enormous boobs at this point! Going to go back & try again this morning, then it's catalogue shopping this afternoon. It's not just looking good (although I feel so great when I'm wearing something that fits & is comfortable) I'm on my feet with ds quite a lot as well as well as going to meetings so I have to have enough clothes to get by. They're all in the wash again today...
Can't believe you now don't know when your section is going to be?! What a mad situation, hope it gets resolved next week for you. At least you've got your amby nest (v.jealous as I STILL don't have anything for this baby to sleep in, not even a bloomin' grobag).

lubella · 21/10/2006 08:29

Just making the order cheered me up AQ
I think a few items of maternity are completely justified - even at our stage (I have 8 weeks to go as well!) I am getting so fed up of the tracksuit bottoms I have been living in I might do the same, and I will also buy the Miss Dior Perfume I wanted for ages, although the assistant told me I probably won't like it after the Boo is born....

accessorizequeen · 21/10/2006 08:34

Hope you bought stuff for yourself as well as bean, then lubella! Tho the blanket can be worn as scarf I suppose, and spina loves her spotty baby blanket. That perfume is lovely, but sometimes babies don't like their mums wearing perfume (I couldn't with my ds whilst I was feeding him). I have a lovely bottle of Chanel upstairs that I haven't worn since I got pg because it makes me naueous! I find it odd that I can remember exactly what everyone's bought but much else from day to day

On the subject of tiredness, have been taking of 2 sachets of spatone for 3 days now & feeling v.energetic plus bp seems to have raised itself, so I recommend! I'm going to get a another box at Holland & Barrett this morning.

lubella · 21/10/2006 09:18

I know AQ it's been ages since I've worn perfume - one of the first things I had to stop doing due to smell aversion, and I know babies really don't like it...oh well I suppose it would save me more money to hold off, but it would be nice to buy something for ME

accessorizequeen · 21/10/2006 09:36

I know what you mean, I keep going shopping & only bringing back stuff for ds1 & ds22b, it's frustrating me! Gorgeous matching scarf & gloves for all those walks in the cold with bean? Pedicure cos we can't reach out feet anymore (although I'm going to have a damn good try tonight!)?

EliBoo · 21/10/2006 10:37

Rushing to get ready to go out for some RL shopping - no idea what for, but it looks like rain and dd says she wants to so how can I not? Have to keep up with you lot somehow!

AQ re itchy feet, I made big effort to put them up a lot during the evening, cooled them with cold water before going to bed, and they were better than night before. I'm hoping its just a combination of dry skin, puffy end-of-day feet (just started up) and increased circulation. My gut feeling is its nothing worse - but if my hands started up too, or face, I'd be more worried: soles and palms itching can be a sign of Obstetric Cholestatis, which two of my friends had. My bet is nothing nasty for either of us, but annoying eh?!

Indiemum, know exactly what you mean...xxx

Right: credit card, bottle of water, what else do I need? Ho hum, possibly to get dressed...

annaspanner · 21/10/2006 10:39

I quite agree with spending money on ourselves at this point. It's my birthday late November(due 1/12) and I've told DP to tell anyone who asks for suggestions that all I want is a bit of pampering. I'd love a pedicure, full leg wax etc...or perhaps a night in a nice hotel to get away from the building site that is my house. I know it's easier for me bcoz this will be my first. Well done to those of you who are managing pain and discomfort while looking after other children! Am I really goin to want to go through all this again???

jabberwocky · 21/10/2006 11:26

lol, anna, if you're like me you will initially swear to everyone that you will never do this again. Then, in a year or two, you start thinking about it...and presto! another pregnancy )

I'm getting end of the day swelling, too. It makes me soooo paranoid as that is what is thought to have brought on my Bell's Palsy with ds

AQ, what is spatone? I'm wondering if we have it over here.

jabberwocky · 21/10/2006 11:28

Oh, and as far as spending money on ourselves, I am seriously considering booking a facial and lip and brow wax beforehand. I have been really letting the whole facial hair thing go. Luckily, it's not too obvious (I don't think!) but still, would be nice to feel all spiffed up.

maroon35 · 21/10/2006 12:27

jabberwocky · 21/10/2006 15:02

Maroon, I wanted to add that I did a lot of expressing for ds. If you need any tips, etc. let me know. The one thing that really makes a difference is doing breast compression as you express. You can get a lot more that way - you'll be amazed!

EliBoo · 21/10/2006 15:30

OMG, Maroon!!! Congratulations sweetie, and a big fat welcome to Francesca...she sounds as though she's doing really well (breathing ok straight away is brilliant) and yes, she has a lovely name

You are going to be in shock for a bit - take good care of yourself, hope people around you are cossetting you.

Ooooh, congratulations Mummy of gorgeous girl...

softymom · 21/10/2006 15:38

Maroon - congratulations! So glad everything is okay right now and what a lovely name! Ditto what everyone is saying about trying to get as much rest and sleep as possible. Having an emergency section can take a lot out of you and you'll need all your energy when you get to take your little dd home

...and internet access at your hospital?

babypowder · 21/10/2006 16:52

First of all, a very warm welcome to Francesca - what lovely news. I've been eavesdropping on your conversations for a few weeks, and have finally taken the plunge and joined in!
Can I be really selfish and ask any of the Rhneg mums some advice? I'm nearly 30 weeks pg and they've just realised that I've got D antibodies, despite prophylactic anti D during my last pregnancy and after birth. Needless to say, hormones have me in a tailspin and I can only imagine the very worst case scenario! I find out on Monday what the medical team are going to do in terms of ongoing treatment and monitoring - any one else been through this?

VanillaMilkshake · 21/10/2006 17:39

Hi everyone -

Congratulation and well done to Maroon on the safe arrival of Francesca!!

babypowder - I am RHes Neg, but have been havng regular anti-D so not sure how to advise you - sorry.

Thanks for all your wishes over boob issue. Luckily it looks like it going, the red area is much smaller and the centre is no longer centre - more splodge shaped than round, but is going purple and itchy which I think is a sign it is leaving. GP was lovely and suggested sudocreme, which after one application seems to have made all the above differences! He also said tell MW I'm not seeing OB at 37 wks and if she thinks his comments were out of order she will deal with it and I know she will!

Had my first MILO last night!! A bit like hot choc but with more energy, have had two so far and am getting hooked. DH was unimpressed but he's a coffee drinker and was not impressed with a milky choclate instead.

My comfort blanket for bump arrived this morning - it is truly gorgeous! I am so pleased with it and DD has already asked to wrap it for 'Toby'

Hope your weekends and shopping are fun. I am off as Strictly starts in a minute and I have to bargain with DD to switch Backyardigans over - battle of the wills about to commence!

accessorizequeen · 21/10/2006 17:53

VM, glad your 'boil' better, perhaps milo helped not just sudocreme? I am not looking forward to sore boobs again, I have had horrible rash for several weeks (presumably bras don't fit properly or too much overhang, sorry tmi). Went to mcare & remembered the old staple Kamillosan, it was such a godsend when I was b/feeding. Mcare have maternity pads on sale (£1.11 for pack of 12) so bought several packs. Very boring shop, but feel as though I'm someway towards a hospital bag. Just taking a break from recovering baby stuff from garage, my god I have a lot of it, this will take all week to sort & wash! I'm quite looking forward to the task tho.
Lubella, tried on everything in mothercare to no avail, so it's got to be a jojo order tonight!
Jabber, spatone made in Wales so prob. not avail. in the US but you never know. Natural iron-rich water, you just pour a sachet into a glass of fruit juice. I think I've had the equivalent of 4lbs of broccoli today (I don't eat broccoli, so that's good). I can't believe how much better I feel, but then I also got a proper night's sleep last night as dp & ds away for weekend.
My head is spinning that we're ALL going to actually having babies within a few weeks!

Indith · 21/10/2006 18:58

Oh my goodness what has happened since last time I posted? A driving test passed (congrats!) various aches and pains and a heck of a lot of trans babies and a real live baby!

Many wonderful thoughts to Maroon and I hope the rest soothe their aches in a sea of Lush Bombs and Milo.

Lush bath bombs being wonderful things to take away the constant back pain. Even had to ask for an extension on an essay because I couldn't stay at the computer for more than 20 mins without turning into a cripple? Do you get more back pain the further back you carry the bump? I have about the smallest bump at aquanatal (apart from the 18 weekers and they don't count) but I'm one of the furthest along! Heck I don't understand.

Not so sure about Milo though. I have Green and Blacks Maya Gold drinking chocolate. Now thats a good mug. Add a good dollop of E45 a million times a day to stop the bump itching and its all good.

Babypowder I have no idea either, sorry, I'm neg too but so far the anti D is doing its thing. Best of luck and try not to worry, they have noticed it and that is the main thing, now they can do something about it.

So need to go on a big baby shopping trip, my nesting instinct restraint barrier is getting very very weak!

Ooooh DP tells me dinner is ready, chilli con carne made by him! Best go then really!

EliBoo · 21/10/2006 19:39

VM hurrah for the vanishing abscess/boil, and the nice GP!

Babypowder, sorry, I'm +ve so no help...just wanted to say welcome. What did the MW/OB say to you about the antibodies? I hope someone can put your mind at rest, and soon - I know how disturbing it feels to have an unexpected worry at this late stage (had one last time).

Indith, G&B do hot chocolate? how did I miss that one...

Had a surprisingly successful shopping trip our of my area this morning(for variety's sake), bits for Bump, bits for dd, and even some stuff for me. Including those self same on sale MOthercare maternity pads, and some disposable knickers - you weren't in Wimbledon today were you AQ? Had a good conversation with another bump-y lady at the knicker rack

And dd managed to tell me she needed a pee and get all the way from the ELC three floors up to the loos and hold on...yes!

EliBoo · 21/10/2006 19:41

just realized poor dh got nothing out of our trip, except temporary loan of a balloon-cat made for dd by some promotions bloke. AND he just cooked us a roast and baked apples. Think I owe the man...

accessorizequeen · 21/10/2006 20:08

Nope, Eli, wasn't in Wimbledon, I live oooop north! But I did buy disposable knickers as well...Do they really count as being 'for you', I still count them as for the bump so bought lovely hand scrub and hand cream as well. As for dh, is not spending the afternoon at the shops with his wife & daughter not enough???? DP delighted to hear that whilst he's away I went to Ikea AND Mothercare, sure he's checking the account right now..
Babypowder, welcome and you could start a new thread about the rhesus thing (sorry I have no knowledge of it) under pregnancy maybe? Sure there will be loads of advice if you cast the net a bit wider..
