this has to be a record, mine will be only the 7th posting today! Usually by this time on a sunday it takes ages to catch up x
SOL, thanks for the advice, I'm kinda one to just get on with stuff tho, I have friends around me to give me a hug when I need it so won't go to the relationships thread just yet, have sometimes found other threads nowhere near as friendly as this one!
juust watched the Grand Prix, I so love schumacher, he might be an arrogant git at times but you can't fail to be impressed by the bloke, and that bone structure!

Hi everyone

I got some sleep!!!!!
DH went out and bought me some ear plugs and he bought himself some breathe -right strips and I got a full 12 hours!!! Such a relief and nice that DH finally took on board how serious I was about how much it was affecting me. He even got up at 6.30 with DS to give me a lie in - HURRAY!

Hope we are all having a nice weekend.

Zazas I am sorry about your friend that is just terrible and I am sending you posative thoughts to help you get through x

WestCountryLass - I hope those feet are up whilst you are reading this - what a fright you must have had - glad you finally got some reassurance - you take care!

Mammyjo - I really feel for you - I can 100% sympathise with how you have been feeling as you described in exact detail what happened to me the other night - like you, I honestly thought I was having contractions it was that painful and my csec scar was aching like mad. I had D&V too and my tummy was all upset for a few days afterwards. It really took it out of me and left me weepy and so I hope it reassures you that a) someone else has felt like this and b) I feel better now! I honestly think it was a bug.

Katy44 - hope the MS disappears as suddenly as it reappeared - poor you x and EllieK - hope that your week gives you a bit of space to be able to think about what you want.

Had one of those nothingy days today - where I just didn't even get dressed and just stayed in my PJ's (so not like me!)

I am back at work tomorrow and I'm actually looking forward to it as with not being at work this week seems to have dragged like a seals ar*e

Well I'm off to see if I can find anything nice to eat in our cupboards....shared the last of my chocolate with DS and DH earlier and now I am regretting my generosity!

Before I go (sorry it's so long) did anyone else see Ant and Dec last night doing the boybands? I swear I have not laughed so much in a long time - pure TV gold in my opinion!

Weeonion and Captain Dippy - hope you had lovely weekends away

Night ladies

CALLING ALL OF YOU!
I have a suggestion, please tell me if it's a daft one but ....
I've noticed some other antenatal threads are having meet ups so wondered if we might?
I thought maybe a couple, as Scotland is a long way to travel and wouldn't expect the scottish lovelies to travel all the way to London either! but we could then add photos of the meet ups to this thread?
Just thought that now might be a good time, as we're starting to feel better and before we get too fat!
OPINIONS PLEASE!!!!!!

runnyhabbit · 23/10/2006 08:56

Morning all

Yes, I saw Ant & Dec too totally agree - it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Hope everyone is feeling better with their ms and tummy bugs. Ds chickenpox has gone so have been trying to get back to normal. Think it all caught up with me on the weekend, and burst into tears Sunday afternoon. Acted like such a wuss - but dh just cuddled me and said he wasn't suprised, considering the lack of sleep I'd had. To make matters worse, I think my spd has returned. Didn't think that it would happen this early on (15+6 today) Got really bad with ds, but gp was not sympathetic. Mw has been really good through. When I mentioned it in booking appt, she told me not to suffer, and see her or go straight to the maternity ward asap. Lucky I've got my 16wk appt this week, so fingers crossed I get something for it. Any suggested remedies would be greatly appreciated.

Hope you all had a nice weekend

Nearly forgot to tell you about some great maternity clothes bargains!

Got some really nice, long t-shirts from a shop called "select" I really don't mean to sound like a snob, but I've never been in there before because a) the average age of shoppers is 15 (inc sales staff) and b) the music is sooo loud. But I saw a t-shirt in the window that was only £8!! Very comfy, with ruching at the side. So I got a few Just thought I'd let you all know.

The best bit is the money I've saved on clothes, I can put towards a gorgeous pair of (expensive) knee high boots, without feeling too guilty

geordiemacminx · 23/10/2006 10:30

Hey all;

Pleased everyone had a nice weekend!!! I'm currently bidding on some stuff on e-bay, nothing seems to go that cheap, so its probabaly false economy but at least I can shop from the comfort of my desk!!

I had a break from the sickness a little over the weekend.. so did my domestic goddess bit and baked scones and brownies and made a beef casserol!!! I was very proud of my little self!!!

Hello!

pesha · 23/10/2006 11:01

Hi So mnay posts, so much to say so I wont list everyone as would be bound to miss someone out so will just say I hope everyone is ok and im thinking of those of you having difficult times.

I have also been bidding on maternity clothes on ebay and you're right they're not that cheap but i did manage to get a pair of black top shop trosers for £2.99 which seems pretty good but they not turned up yet so fingers crossed. I also bought what were described as new under bump next maternity jeans for nearly £15 including p+p but they turned up sat and are neither under bump nor maternity They're high waisted if anything as they come practically to my belly button with no elasticy bits or anything and no mention of maternity anywhere on the label. Have emailed seller and just hoping it was genuine mistake and they're not going be difficult about this,I cannot afford to spend 15 quid on a pair of jeans i wont be able to wear for a year! Sorry bit of a rant, Id been getting all excited about having jeans i can sit down in!!

Can anyone help me clarify dates, according to the pregnancy and birth book given to me by the mw with my first pg as my lmp was 14/07 then my due date is 21/04 but mw said 20/04 based on lmp. Lmp coincides with scan so I am def 14+3 and now have looked at days of the week and i am counting friday to friday at the mo and the 20th is a fri so i guess thats right? MIAM i seem to be same wks as you, what due date do you have? Sorry i know its only 1 day difference and it prob wont come then anyway but when people ask my due date i feel a bit crap saying oh the 20-something-th i think im not really sure! (I also realise this is my 3rd and i really should know this myself by now!)

Oh, elliek would love to go to a meet up but unless its gonna be held in south somerset i cant see anyway i could afford to get there, with dds birthday and christmas and everything else im completely stretched to my limit financially and think its gonna stay like that for quite a while. But if you all wanna come here that'd be great!!

CaptainDippy · 23/10/2006 11:13

pesha - personally I just "pick a date, any date" and then just stick with it - you could ask your mw how she came up with that date if you're concerned. I wouldn't worry too much - just go for one or the other!! According to my calculations - you are 14 weeks + 3 days, due in April 20th, if that helps at all!!

Ooooh, I'm 13 + 4 today btw!

CaptainDippy · 23/10/2006 11:14

I get my calculations from here if that helps at all!

I'm going to go now ..........

pesha · 23/10/2006 11:25

Thanks CD will happily go with that then and say im 20th, I know it doesnt really matter its just the whole telling people my due date and then when its born people asking how many days early/late you are etc. And Im a bit pedantic at times!

Date of conception on that web site made me laugh though, on the date it said we were staying in a hotel on our way down to south of france, dcs single beds were up a very steep ladder in a sort of attic room which was boiling hot, so hot dd was sick all over me as i tried to carry her down the ladder. We then spent the rest of the night with all 4 of us sleeping side by side width ways in a small double bed, me and dp with our legs hanging over the edge. Definitely no conception took place that night!!

CaptainDippy · 23/10/2006 11:38

LOL! It is all so bloomin' inaccurate ain't it!!!?

Greengirlforever · 23/10/2006 11:39

Pesha - lol at your "conception night" !!

Don't worry about being in South Somerset - I'm Devon so I'll come to yours and I'm pretty sure there's some other SW people on here - definitely someone in Cornwall. Sadly my fellow Devonian was Duchesse who is gone for now but the rest of us'll be there!

What're we having????

Oh and BTW, prob haven't read your previous posts properly but could you not still have a dating scan???

weeonion · 23/10/2006 11:42

pesha - quick post here. my lmp was the exact same as you. my gp and all the calculators gave me edd of 20/4. when i went for scan this came back to 18/4. hope that helps.... xo

Hiya ladies, glad everyone who went away had a lovely weekend, and that everyone is feeling good today.
I am knackered!
Bit if a rant coming here...
DD has had a cough for over a week now - only at nightimes, and has been waking up - only once or twice in the night. Pretty much each time, it has been me that has got up and given her medicine and a drink and then gone back to bed. I don't mind this, but I have been having to go to bed the last few nights at 9.30, as the only time I don't feel sick is when I am eating or asleep! When I get up, I immediately feel sick, and it takes me a good half hour to get back to sleep. I know dh is awake each time, but can't be bothered to get out of bed.
I personally think he is being lazy and unreasonable. He isn't working at the mo as was made redundant in August (starts a new job next week) whereas I work 3 days a week on top of this.
Sorry, sound like a right cow, but I am fed up of it!!
And relax!
Need to go, but catch up later. xx

weeonion · 23/10/2006 12:51

LOL,

ok - the weekend was fab - probably one of the most special of my life! we arrived late to airport - youngest bro and dad collected us but kept growing bump all hidden under layers. got home - mum and younge sis waiting. made then all sit down til i gave them gifts (as i usually do on a return trip). left 2 til teh end - a ball of white wool with knitting needles for mum and a bib saying i love my granda. gave them to mum & dad. my wee sis squealed started jumping up and down yelling " i knew it, i kne it!!". poor mum and dad were confused and looking round them bewildered. younger bro was equally bemused til i said "we're pregnant". cue floods of tears, squashing hugs and general high emotion. they all love dp anyhow and he was caught in the midst. it was a really really lovely night - the irish whiskey was brought out - i went to bed around 3am. my wee sis and me lay on her bed like old times and chatted til 5am when the men all retired. mum and dad did not have a clue this was coming but wee sis jem did.
caught up with gallons of old friends and told them the news on the saturday. all really happy but soem a bit surpreised as i think they had me pegged as a confirmed career woman who would never have kids. dont know where they go thtis from as i love kids and have always said i wanted them but didnt know if i could cause of polycystic ovaries.

they was many tears as we left the family - but i am heading home for xmas so as least i get to see them in 8 weeks.

sorry for long post but it really was lovely. given the slightly less enthusiastic response from dp's family - i am really pleased he was there for my lots giddiness

mammyjo · 23/10/2006 13:17

Your weekend sounds wonderful Weeonion, really pleased you enjoyed yourself and got such a lovely reaction from everyone.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Thanks for that MIAM, it definitely does help to think that someone else has experienced the same symptoms! Tummy definitely more settled today so maybe it was a bug.

I would be up for a meet up, have car so will travel if need be. I am in South Wales so how far is South Somerset from me? Sorry for being a bit dull but geography never was my strong point hence a D grade at GCSE!! I would just need to sort out child care for ds but that should not be a big problem as my parents are brill at helping me out.

Greengirlforever · 23/10/2006 13:42

WeeOnion - your account of your weekend had me in tears (doesn't take much at the mo'!), expecially as my family are definitely of the lukewarm type when it comes to baby news. I told them a couple of weeks ago (left it as long as I could - I think because I knew their reaction would bring me down) and they weren't exactly jumping for joy - I mean it is the first female that will have been born in my immediate family since me (and that was a looooong time ago) ! But heigh ho - at least DH's mum was happy!

SoL at your DH. Bloody men!! But I will say this, looking back from all my vast years of experience(!) - you do have to assert yourself constantly to get them to do the right thing. My DH is very good but only with continuous prompting. In this case I would recommend a poke/kick (whichever you feel is most appropriate) next time a child awakens at night and then tell him in no uncertain terms that it is his turn, big time. You may have to continue doing this for the next 15 years.....

muminamini · 23/10/2006 13:49

Pesha! Yey a due date buddy!

Thats so funny actually cos my midwife tells me I am due 21st and I calculate it to be 20th! When I quizzed it at my scan the midwife said as there was only 1 day difference they would go with my dates but I used the Emma's Diary and also a calender on the net to calculate mine and with a last period date of 14th July and a 31 day cycle they calculate me to be 20th April.

I say go with your calculation!!

Sex on legs
He needs a kick up the ass!!!!
Poor you - I would try and calmly sit down and point out to him the facts of the situation...surely he can see that is SO UNFAIR!
He should AT LEAST get up every other night in turns.

I feel for you hun, you've enough on your plate without lack of sleep. My DH can be a bit like that if I let him...thing is I don't
x

muminamini · 23/10/2006 13:58

That sounds so lovely! I had a lump in my throat when I read your post. Glad you had such a lovely time - your family sound fantastic

doghouse · 23/10/2006 15:21

WO - glad your weekend was such a success. It is lovely having news that makes everyone happy isn't it?

I would happily meet up if I could ... live in Chester so may not be easy BUT am actually from the South West so would try and meet up in Devon/Somerset if that's where it's at!

Shoeshopper · 23/10/2006 16:01

Hi can I join? I'm new to Mumsnet. Am 16 weeks, due 9th April.
First baby at 40!!
Big shock 'cos didn't think we could have (had 9 years of failed fertility treatments and the last 4 years just accepted we wouldn't have kids ... and now?!)
