Flowers For the losses on the thread.

I did a Clear Blue Digital today and got "Pregnant 1-2 weeks" so I'm officially pregnant. Wasn't sure with the faint lines earlier this week.

gakay · 28/11/2014 23:29

lam wish I've got lovely holidays to look forward to... Desperately in need of one.
Have been asked by work to take up a couple of 1.5 year long projects from the new year and had to pretend that I'm enthusiastic about them. He wants to meet next week to discuss the details. Not sure what to do. I told work quite soon about my last pg because of another 2 1-year projects but then mc'd. Really don't want to tell work until am a little bit more certain

Daveface · 28/11/2014 23:43

Yes gakey

I didn't want to wait and did a bit of googling which seemed to suggest there is no real reason to wait.

I was only about 5.5 weeks when I miscarriaged, about a month ago now.

I'm not going to be calling GP for another couple of weeks, I think I need to get a couple of weeks down the line before I can even start to think that it might be different this time.

gakay · 28/11/2014 23:55

dave I wasn't going to call GP for another couple of weeks but then realised it's going to be xmas soon and worry that if I leave it too late I would miss the 10-12 week scan as there might be backlog from the all the bank holidays.

Guyropes · 29/11/2014 00:29

Hi em, hope you managed to work your date out. I called into the gp surgery to make the appt, and they said I needed to give a urine sample and answer a few questions. The midwife phoned me with an appointment the next day.

Like gakay I am a little worried about getting an appointment for the dating scan during the right time frame for nuchal translucency scan. Would need to be quite early in January I think?

nannynome · 29/11/2014 05:16

Guyropes, according to my app, if due the 3 rd august the Nuchal window would be between 12th jan - 1st feb if that helps.

Luciferbox · 29/11/2014 05:48

Can I join? Had a faint line on Tues followed by a clear bfp yesterday. TTC since the summer and we already have 1 DS (3) EDD 6th Aug. Quite anxious but trying to keep positive.

nannynome · 29/11/2014 05:54

Hi lucifer, welcome :) and congratulations! I am awake due to 11 month old DS deciding 4am is morning... He is now snoring again and I am wide awake Hmm, first time he has done it in ages. Keep being positive Flowers

Brummiegirl15 · 29/11/2014 08:16

Morning all

I've already told my work due to my previous mc's this year and they've been great, really supportive so I 'm lucky. Their view is if you lose it then we'll help you deal with it.

I'm seeing the docs literally as soon as I can get down there which is Tuesday am. For me it's really important to get this one in the system.

I asked for help after my 2nd mc and was told "nope 3 in a row" so I have to get this one in my notes so that if I do have another mc I can get the help I need.

For me getting down to the GP is my absolute priority

Brummiegirl15 · 29/11/2014 08:17

Welcome to the newbies as well!!!!

nannynome · 29/11/2014 11:07

Yurgh, last pregnancy I had no morning sickness or anything, all this morning I have been feeling nauseous, I hope this goes away quickly, it is too early and I need to keep this from work as long as possible!

Shantotto · 29/11/2014 11:19

I rang the midwife myself yesterday after being too impatient to wait for the doctor. Midwife said I won't be seen now until after Christmas but as I'm only 4 weeks today I'm hoping it's enough time for the first scan? I'm 35 and it's my first so I've no idea what's about to happen while also being worries about being 'old'!

Typically the Dr called after I rang the midwife! She told me I needed to pick up a form to get my card for free dental care, I doubt it'll get here before my sure to be expensive dentist visit that I can't put off anymore.

Also, what's a bounty pack?! I've bought some books but I literally don't know what I need or what to do. I know I should just be not thinking about it too much until I get a few months further in.

Oh and welcome everyone!

daisysunshine2 · 29/11/2014 11:20

Brummiegirl15 · 29/11/2014 12:34

Woop hello Daisy a fellow ttc'er after MC - great news!!!

Luciferbox · 29/11/2014 14:05

I forgot about the free dental care!

BovrilMartini · 29/11/2014 17:46

Hey ladies, another tentatively joining here.

I've lurked on Mumsnet for a couple of months after elderly parent support as my Dad has severe dementia and we were struggling as a family.

This is my first baby I'm 31. Me and my partner decided to try and hit it near enough first time! Surprised but very happy. So far I've told my big sister and my best friend looked at me and guessed! I had my positive test yesterday and did another one today for confirmation.

Good luck ladies

em165 · 29/11/2014 18:31

Congratulations Bovril! How did you tell your sister/ best friend?

Im not seeing my parents for another week but am desperate to tell my mum. Ladies - do you think giving the news over the phone would be so bad? Obviously in person would be nicer but i'm so impatient!

SpreadOnToast · 29/11/2014 18:35

Hello

Can I join on here?

I've had faint BFP for the past few days but today I got a defo BFp. AF isn't officially due until tuesday so I'm on cycle day 27 of a 29 day cycle.

This will be DC #2 but DC #1 with partner.

My main concern at the moment is that DS #1 (age nearly 4) will be angry at me for having to share his mummy with another child. Also because DC spends half a week at his dad's, I worry he won't want to come home with a crying baby :(

For all those first timers: with my first pregnancy I had every problem under the sun from rhesus neg to quite a lot of implantation bleeding to RLS to needing amnioscentisis at 18 weeks and Emergency C-section at 34 weeks and my little boy is here and no worse for off for all the messing about. Try not to worry about the symptoms. Thinking what will be will be is the only thing that got me through my pregnancy.

Guyropes · 29/11/2014 19:08

Hi everyone and new people, bovril and spread; congratulations!

Em- I think it would be worth it to wait to tell in person because then you get to see the look on their face and their hugs of congratulations (hopefully!)

I am very confused about supplements. It say on the nhs website Don't take high-dose multivitamin supplements, fish liver oil supplements, or any supplements containing vitamin A.

But I was looking at seven seas pregnancy plus and it has extra strength fish oil to provide the omega three? Anybody know why fish liver oil is no good? Is it just in case of the vitamin a? I have actually got some 'seven seas cod liver oil extra high strength omega 3 fish oil' which I thought would be ok, but maybe not?

Anyway I have got myself tied up over this, and just wanted to ask what supplements you ladies are taking? Thanks in advance!

Guyropes · 29/11/2014 19:15

Hi shantotto... Bounty is a marketing company that give free samples of baby stuff to expecting parents... I remember getting a bounty pack in postnatal ward in hospital wih stuff like nappy rash cream in it. There is some controversy about the Role of bounty reps in postnatal wards; they are paid by the govt to give out child benefit application forms I think, but are there to do sometimes quite heavy marketing of photography service etc. I'm sure your midwife will fill you in.

Daveface · 29/11/2014 20:58

I'm just taking boots own pregnancy vitamins.

I'm going to wait a week or so and then call my Dr I think.

I was pregnant last month but didn't really tell anyone. (Other than DH and 2 very close friends) I miscarriaged really early and didn't really tell anyone. I had thought that I would tell my parents but it seemed weird to tell them that I had miscarriaged when they didn't even know I was pregnant. So I just didn't say anything.

I'm still wary.

I'm tempted to book a private scan just before Xmas so we can share news then (all being well)

Guyropes · 29/11/2014 21:27

Spread o. Toast, sounds like you are feeling quite anxious about 'blending' your family... I'm sure he will cope better than you think with getting a new sibling. We are also worrying about this a bit; but mostly my dp's teenage boys. My younger girls have been asking for more siblings since they were about 3yo.

I might go and have a look on 'blended families' for some experiences

RubMyLamp · 29/11/2014 22:17

Hi all.

I'm calling my GP on Monday morning. This will be my 3rd baby, but my youngest DD is almost 4 so its been awhile since I last did this, and the difference between having DD1 (6) and DD2 (almost 4) in terms of midwife appointments, advice etc, was huge, so I can only imagine things will have moved forwards again now and will be quite different. I was classed as high risk for both previous pregnancies - DD1 about 26 weeks in when I had a bleed and DD2 when I had pre-eclampsia at 37 weeks - DD1 had various other problems too and was early but is alive and well and a total PITA so try not to worry about it too much I know saying that is futile because we will worry, because Mums do

They've both been asking for a sibling for a while now, so I have no worries with them. DSS12, on the other hand... DH sadly lost his 4 week old son to SIDS a few years back (back then I knew him as a friend of a friend) so I am quite concerned about how DSS will react etc. We get on very well and we are close, so I'm confident if he is worried/scared etc that he will come and talk to me/DH.

Guyropes · 29/11/2014 23:17

Hi rub my lamp,

Sounds like there are a few of us on here with 2nd partners... Been reading on step- parenting a bit, some interesting threads on there about new babies arriving into the mix... Not all easy by any stretch, but plenty of joy.

Know what you mean antenatal care will have changed since I last went through it too, so although you sort of know what to expect, you don't!

Good luck with the gp on Monday.

daisysunshine2 · 30/11/2014 07:33

Got my digital confirmation of 'pregnant 1 - 2' this morning! :) I may start believing this could happen and join in a bit more...
