sdyer · 10/11/2014 09:57

Phew!! I've been making sure my baths are not too hot (I normally have them steaming)

NotPennysBoat · 10/11/2014 10:07

Can I nervously join in please?
This will be DC2, already have DS who is 2.6. Had a MMC at 10wks in June and a CP at 5wks in September so I am crossing all fingers and toes that this is third time lucky!
EDD is around 17th July.

twinkletoes2015 · 10/11/2014 10:10

Butler, you shouldn't have lobster boiling type baths (the ones I love!) I've been having them at more sensible temperatures!

Butler4 · 10/11/2014 10:23

Phew thanks for that! Nearly passed out there! I will keep an eye on the temperature from now on!

sdyer · 10/11/2014 11:28

So I've just called the hospital and asked to move my scan date to before Xmas and they gave me the 23rd dec Smile

Zampa · 10/11/2014 11:34

That's exciting sdyer!

twinkletoes2015 · 10/11/2014 11:36

Fab news Syder Smile

I've registered at a new doctors today as I felt my current surgery wasn't the best place for me. Will I be given my scan date at my booking in appt?

broodylicious · 10/11/2014 11:51

[waves like a loon to want] can you actually believe we are here?!?!

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 10/11/2014 11:55

Haha broody no I can't! DH messaged me saying 'are you sure it isn't a false positive?'. Don't think he will believe it until the scan. I just hope everything goes ok for us all. Have noticed today a metallic taste in my mouth - wondered what that was all about when I read it in symptoms and now I know!

I rang docs today as had no idea what to do next. She said midwife will call in 2 weeks to arrange to see me, all being well. Think when I pass Saturday (af due) then I will feel ok. It all feels v surreal, I can't concentrate on anything! I just keep staring at the tests like a goon!

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 10/11/2014 11:56

broody when is your due date? We are same dpo aren't we?

broodylicious · 10/11/2014 12:16

want, edd is July 23. I need to get into docs ASAP because a) I've moved house recently and need new surgery b) I need to see if I qualify for early scan (8weeks) owing to my miscarriage - here, the mw generally doesn't see you until you're 8weeks so it'd be too late for getting early scan maybe. My dh was mega surprised yesterday but today he was quite bright and looked excited xx

sdyer · 10/11/2014 12:21

Thanks :-) I'm excited now and also I told my like manager and HR today and they were very good about it! HR lady gave me a cuddle

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 10/11/2014 12:22

Oh ok, I had forgotton about your mc, im sorry :( I hope this time round is smooth sailing for you, I have all my fingers crossed!

I think judging from what doc receptionist said to me today our mw see you between 6-8w. Cos they said she would call in 2-3w and by then I will be 5-6w.

Bustherb · 10/11/2014 12:23

I've booked in for an early scan which is on the 23rd! Can't wait now! Fingers crossed everything goes ok xxxxx

fattycow · 10/11/2014 12:51

My dad just came over and asked me if I've lost weight. Hmm He is probably seeing changes to my face, as I have most definitely not lost any weight at all!

Sarkymare · 10/11/2014 13:02

I'm really hoping I will be able to book a scan tomorrow. I didn't know that if you have had a previous MC you qualify for an early scan. Or is this not in the uk? Also do you think that applies if you have already had a baby between the MC and current pregnancy?

Thepurplegiraffe · 10/11/2014 13:16

I called my doctor this morning and can't even seem to get an appointment there and the booking in appointment doesn't even get arranged until after that so not looking good here. I guess it is my fault for leaving it until 5 weeks but that was the point I mc last time.
Broody do you get an early scan for an early mc or do you have to have been further along?
Not that I am going to be able to ask for one if I can't see anyone.

Leela5 · 10/11/2014 13:37

You can get an early scan either way - if there's no medical history of complication then you can pay for it - £95 usually. If you've had previous mc then they may offer you for free. You usually get early scan automatically if you have had complications, ivf or if you don't know dates (it's known as dating scan).

Phone doc to check if you apply, if not them your doc can let you know where private scans are done in your area.

broodylicious · 10/11/2014 13:45

I'm not sure what the set up is here for early scans on the nhs and whether it's the same uk wide - it's probably down to the trust and the compassion of the referring GP. I was 12 weeks when I miscarried (on the actual day of my dating scan, how even more cruel is that?!) and although there's no statistical reason why it should happen again (most are just random happenings), I'd just like to see if I can get a reassurance scan. If not, I will probably pay for one privately. There's somewhere not far away that does them for £50-60 so it's not the end of the world if I don't get one for free.

SquirrelGirl78 · 10/11/2014 14:31

I've booked in for a private scan at the Fetal Medical Centre for 22nd Nov (when I'll be around right weeks). My NHS 12 week scan isn't until the week before Xmas. I know I need to be more positive, but, just in case it's a MMC like last time I'd like to know sooner rather than later. I'll be so nervous when I go. For some reason my brain just won't let me believe I'll get good news, maybe I just want it too much!

headlesschicken247 · 10/11/2014 16:36

I'm also thinking I'd like to get an early scan. Having had a mmc at 11 weeks (but mmc at 6) I'd like to know tht at least I'm past that stage an dnot end up ruining Christmas......

Fleurchamp · 10/11/2014 17:06

Hello all

I am making tentative steps into here. Had a BFP this morning, by various online calculators my EDD is 18th July.

squirrel is the centre you are going to for your scan in London? I am probably getting carried away but I will be around 10.5 weeks at Christmas and would love to have a scan before then so that we can tell family over the festive period. I have googled (a serious lack of work has been done by yours truly today) a few private clinics and see that we can get a scan from 8 weeks (internally!!!) for around £100.

As I say, I am getting way ahead of myself. DH doesn't even know about the BFP yet Blush

Zampa · 10/11/2014 17:44

I'm planning on paying for non invasive foetal testing and I think that with the Harmony test a scan is included. If all goes well (fingers crossed) up until 10 weeks, I'm booking in.

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 10/11/2014 17:51

Just told my Mum. Safe to say she was speechless. But she is already talking about arranging for me to have a scan at 10weeks in the week before Christmas so that I can make a Christmas announcement! Not that she is getting ahead of herself. As she is an ob-gyn she said she can ask one of her work colleagues to do it for free Grin There are some good things about having an OG for a Mum! Though she did ask me if it was planned?! of course it was, we are married, own our own house, I have just got promoted, we have savings for maternity leave...

Fleurchamp · 10/11/2014 18:11

wanttobeamummy oh wow, your mum sounds like she will be very handy!

I cannot wait to tell my mum. She may even be speechless for the first time in her life DH and I have been married for donkey's years. Most of my friends have DC and it's a running joke that I hand back my nieces and nephews at the first sign of any bodily fluid.
