BFPS with FRER - I am due DC4 1st July Grin

Already have ds1-16y,ds2-12y, ds3-6y.

My scan in 2 weeks is a private scan I'm arranging because my nhs scan won't fall until Xmas time and I just know they will push it back to the new year (when I actually get my scan date that is). We've not told anyone about the pregnancy except for my best friend and I forgot to tell hubby I had told her so he wasn't best pleased when I mentioned it last night to him not realising I hadn't actually told him I had told her.... as we had agreed to tell people once we had a scan Shock xx

fattycow · 09/11/2014 10:58

Come on over, Sarky!

It really is amazing! I have heard people say that they wouldn't want a stranger in their house. Well, I cannot wait!
You meet her before you give birth (although in some cases you end up with another lady, as the one you met isn't available, but it is always someone who 'suits' you).
And to me, nothing can beat a professional to look at my bits. I mean, she knows if it looks good, or if your stitches are infected! As much as I love my mum, I wouldn't ask her to look at my bits. Besides, how would my mum know if they look okay post birth?
She takes away the fear of having a poo or going for a wee.
She knows a lot about breastfeeding and will sit with you to help you do it.
And then the added bonus of her managing the household chores! She cooks, cleans, does laundry, hoovers, anything you ask her; she does it! My husband isn't the best cook in the world, so to have someone prepare the evening meal so he will just need to heat it will be great! How about a lasagne that just needs to go into the oven for half an hour? Smile

Sarkymare · 09/11/2014 11:00

Are private scans very expensive? I know the 3/4D ones are but I'm not quite sure about your average early pregnancy scan.

It's hard not telling people isn't it? DP and I have agreed not to tell anyone until 12 weeks. Like you I told my best friend straight away. Oooops Grin

Sarkymare · 09/11/2014 11:05

That really does sound amazing! I imagine many new mums worry about how they will adjust during the first week or so. What a brilliant way to alleviate that worry! The most my health visitor did for me post birth was hand me a leaflet about breast feeding. She didn't check my latch, show me different positions or anything like that which would have been so unbelievably helpful!

Your system is so so much better! I'm on my way!!

Bustherb · 09/11/2014 11:17

No sarky the early pregnancy scan which is 6-12 weeks is £95, I would say well worth the money. We've not even told our parents yet either. I'm going to have to tell my line manger soon though, I work away a lot and we tend to go away together, don't know how much longer I can say 'I'm not feeling a wine' with an evening meal. Plus we've got lots of Xmas dos coming up which I know will be before my 12 week scan Blush xxx

Sarkymare · 09/11/2014 11:31

Gosh that seems like a lot. Definitely out of my budget at the minute. Ah well I will just have to be patient lol

I have MIL coming to stay with us over Christmas. It's going to be so hard hiding it from her. Luckily I don't really drink anyway so refusing wine isn't much of a give away. But I think she will notice the nausea and the general 'I know something you don't' look on my face Grin

If you really didn't want to tell your manager you could say you are on antibiotics so unable to drink?

fattycow · 09/11/2014 11:35

Regarding the nausea, you could say you have a tummy bug? Especially if your hubby insist that he had it the week before, it is a believable excuse.

Sarkymare · 09/11/2014 11:42

Ooh that's a good idea. I could even have a dodgy kebab and get minor food poisoning. I think anyone who has ever eaten a kebab would believe that.

fattycow · 09/11/2014 11:46

I know many tricks like that! Wink

Antibiotics to hide not drinking.
Being the driver to hide not drinking.
Tummy bug for nausea.
Hangover for nausea.
Up late last night for tiredness.

TouchPauseEngage · 09/11/2014 12:03

fatty that sounds amazing! DH got through to the last round of interviews for a job in Voorschoten. We were gutted he didn't get it as I'd have loved to live in the Netherlands and it sounds like giving birth there would be fab!

fattycow · 09/11/2014 12:04

Touch, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

fattycow · 09/11/2014 12:06

I didn't read carefully! Sorry he didn't get the job...

Threeplus1 · 09/11/2014 12:08

Sorry donotdisturb only just saw your question.... I have told a few of my closest friends, but will otherwise try and hold off telling until I'm 12 weeks. I'm a SAHM and my youngest just started school so I've got the liberty of sleeping/puking when I need to without having to have a handy excuse.

Anyone else having vivid dreams? I don't usually remember mine that often, but in the past two weeks am having them multiple times a night (between loo breaks). Most are quite upsetting and linger after I wake too Sad

fattycow · 09/11/2014 12:18

I'm dreaming as usual, but I'm sleeping badly.

We aren't telling until Christmas, when I'm 13 weeks.

broodylicious · 09/11/2014 13:48

Gosh fatty, that sounds amazing! I'm thinking of coming over to enjoy all that care Smile

I'm dreaming quite vividly too, although I am also struggling with insomnia.

My bra is quite uncomfortable and my jeans already are a bit tight - although that may be the cake, biscuits and costa obsession I've had in the last week...Wink

Bustherb · 09/11/2014 14:32

Funnily enough sarky a girl in my office used the same kebab excuse, we all believed her too!! Lol. Xx

twinkletoes2015 · 09/11/2014 14:43

My dreams are really vivid too!

My dr said the midwife will contact me to arrange my booking in apt, do they normally do this by phone?

Thepurplegiraffe · 09/11/2014 15:33

I can't even seem get a doctor appointment organised. Not off to a great start.

Bustherb · 09/11/2014 16:21

Whoops forgot to add there, that I travel most weeks overnight and although not always with my manager, most of the time it's someone in my team. I'm also quite close with her and I would have to make up a doctors appt too because i would normally tell her... Also one of my work friends told me she was pregnant straight away an now she's on maternity, she knows we've been trying and asked if I had come on this month, I had to make up I had because we had decided not to fell anyone until scan ConfusedConfused so don't know what I'm going to say when I tell her Blush xx

misseskimo · 09/11/2014 16:43

Luckily I'm quite renowned amongst my friends for needing the toilet all the time... It's been a bit of a common joke over the years, so I'm not worried about people suspecting me for that reason. I rarely drink, and don't drink wine/beer/champagne, another thing my friends all know. The only thing that will give me away if anything is a bump, as I'm generally a pretty small person, and wear "fitted" clothes for work, which I haven't been able to do this past week from being so bloated. So a few colleagues have commented about why I've been so casually dressed :/ eek.

Does anyone know if our 12wks is due around Christmas, will they give it to us before, or wait until January? I'd really like to tell our families at Christmas when their all over for dinner, but don't want to say anything until we've had the 12wk scan... I think my 12wks falls on 24th December!!

broodylicious · 09/11/2014 17:01

Hi miss, you lucky thing if it does turn out that you can have your scan and tell your parents at Xmas. It's what I absolutely wanted to do - had planned on making my own crackers with the scan pic rolled up inside - but I won't be 12 weeks until into January assuming all goes well!

misseskimo · 09/11/2014 17:57

Oh thats a really lovely idea broody! being well we wanted to give xmas cards with the scan on/inside. If not DH's 30th is 11th January so we thought we'd do a massive family meal then get him to open a present in front of everyone with something like a babygro or baby booties or something similar inside saying "daddy to be" so everyone can see at same time, as don't think people will suspect anything at a bday party!

TallGiraffes · 09/11/2014 18:09

My scan is on Wednesday, eek! Here you automatically get an early scan if you've mc before, I'm keeping everything crossed for a nice strong heartbeat.

EskiDecaff · 09/11/2014 18:58

I feel huge! Anyone else? My trousers do not fit. Confused (not due to fish and chips craving surely?!)

Also got the insomnia which is mad because I can normally sleepwhenever. And when I fall asleep I dream the oddest things.

Nice to see you all suffering too Grin

fattycow · 09/11/2014 19:02
