Anna - good news on your show Smile

weeonion - how are you getting on? hope all is progressing well.

It seems to vary a lot from midwife to midwife or region to region about when they will do a sweep. I'm hoping for one on Thursday but will only be 40+2 so not sure if they'll do one

amy83firsttimer · 04/11/2014 19:23

I have 40 week appt Thursday and will be 39+3, wondering whether I might just ask for an exam to see what state my cervix is in? Thoughts everyone?

OP posts:
excitedforbaba · 04/11/2014 19:23

Hopeful I would have been 40 +2 for the scheduled sweep but I have consultant and bloods to get checked that day (Monday) so they offered me the Fri instead so I'm not hanging round the hospital all day!

weeonion · 04/11/2014 19:32

Hi folks! Having a glass and chilling.
still ante not post natal!

surges building in intensity but doing ok.

had midwife round earlier, sadly not the most homebirth friendly (all specialist team off today) and a bit suss about having doula etc. do and doula will need to be a united team if I have to get her out through night.

I am keeping positive and focused and treating each surge as a challenge to see how I am doing with breathing / visualization!!!

keep going folks!!! We have gotten this far together and just a few weeks left for us all. Xx

WorkFreeWannabe · 04/11/2014 19:41

WeeOnion - all the best! You sound like you're handling it all very well

Anna - sounds like things are moving in the right direction. Hopefully you progress soon

weeonion · 04/11/2014 20:03

Yep annarose - you and I may be virtual birthing buddies through the night! I'm right there at your side ;-)

Annarose2014 · 04/11/2014 20:31

Sadly things are not that exciting here as there! Not much stirring. But hey, you never know right?

Bit embarressed as DH met one of his mates wives at the supermarket who was naturally asking how I was going. He cheerfully told her I'd lost my plug today and couldn't understand why I was mortified! Blush

DrBlondie · 04/11/2014 20:47

Good luck weeonion! I'm incredibly impressed with your positive attitude, I hope to see contractions as a chance to practice my breathing too!

Annarose - great news about your plug going! This is my first so can't really advise but I will say that your body does all sorts of clever things without us having a clue so I'm confident that having spent 9 months growing the hugely complex job of baby, labour is simple in contrast. Would it help you to write a list of pros and cons? Hopefully it'll all be beside the point and things will kick off soon for you. Lol at your dh!

Amy- at booking my next midwife appointment but one, she said we'll have to make that a double appointment as we'll do a sweep. I'll be 39+5. I was a bit surprised as I thought they would not do this till after due date and I was just told rather than asked. She's very nice though so I wouldn't have felt uncomfortable declining. I think I'll go with it though as I understand they don't do anything unless you're about ready anyway.

amy83firsttimer · 04/11/2014 21:20

She didn't mention it last time. Hhmmmmm. I don't even know whether she'll book me back for 40+3 or 41+3 (Thursdays only you see). I guess I'll find out on Thursday. I definitely feel like I'm closer than a few days ago with period-type pains but nothing plug-wise.

Sorry I haven't been able to read the thread and see how you are all getting on. Thank you for all the congratulations though.

Let's hope there is some baby news over night Weeonion and Anna. My plug went on Weds and labour started Sat.

The news here is that we are still not discharged. I'm a bit too tired to write it all down but will at some point. She is fine as am I, so no real worries. We just need to prove that she can feed successfully.

Oh, and we have chosen a name: Juliet.

DrBlondie · 04/11/2014 22:01

Many congratulations Kantha and beautiful name. Hope you're both recovering, get some sleep and crack feeding. Flowers

weeonion · 04/11/2014 22:14

kantha - hope you are ok and good to see you back here. feeding took us a while and dd and i stayed in hospital for a few days last time to get it sorted. hope you have all supports around yo. lovely name too - so elegant!

Mumonabroom · 05/11/2014 05:07

Sorry for late posting! Our baby girl was born last Monday, the 27th, 8 days before I was due to have a c section. Lost plug, went into labour. Went in to hospital who said safer to stick to section as #3 section. I was 3 cms when I arrived! Had to wait a few hours as my blood pressure was so low, they had to have blood on standby. I lost 1.2 litres in the end, which is really quite a lot. Had 2 units transfusion, bp improved (although it's always low). Was closely observed for the day, but then discharged the next. By far the most relaxed of my 3 sections and after 8 days I feel really (relatively) great.

Mini miss is doing well, only dropped 2oz in the 5 days. Midwife appointment to be hopefully discharged to hv is on Thursday.

Best of luck to everyone waiting. Exciting times.

MrsY87 · 05/11/2014 05:19

Congrats mumonabroom!! Glad to hear your all doing well Smile

excitedforbaba · 05/11/2014 06:17

Congratulations Mumonabroom Thanks

GiantHulkHands · 05/11/2014 07:13

Congrats mumonabroom!

Kantha - Juliet is a beautiful name. I hope feeding gets easier soon.

ToniWol · 05/11/2014 07:21

Congratulations mumonabroom.

Lovely name Kantha.

Hope that you're getting on okay, weeonion & Anna.

Been getting some stronger twinges here, but nothing more solid. Will be keeping an eye on them definitely today.

Hope everyone else is okay.

CazY777 · 05/11/2014 08:06

Congratulations mumonabroom

I've not had a great morning. Woke up in the night having a panic attack and then was sick. Come downstairs this morning and the dog's been sick all over the rug, and dh has gone to work so I've had to deal with it! He asked me last night if I was ill or if it was just 'the usual', it's become such a normal occurrence!

Thisisimpossible · 05/11/2014 08:43

Congratulations mumonabroom!

Kantha, Juliet is such a pretty name Smile

Weeonion and Anna you're both in my thoughts. I hope all is going ok for you both.

It's full moon tomorrow - folklore has it that maternity wards get busier on a full moon so for all of us still hoping for something to happen soon let's hope it kicks something off!

I have lovely grumbly period pain this morning but nothing more exciting than that. I think I may just have to accept that my hope for a before due date birth is just wishful thinking.

Thisisimpossible · 05/11/2014 08:45

ooh Caz that's grim at the best of times, let alone when you're feeling really crook.

haventgotaclue1 · 05/11/2014 09:12

Congratulations mumonabroom! What a lovely name Kantha - hope feeding is improving.

Thisis, I'm with you - having fairly regular period-like pains but that's it - nothing else at all. Reckon I'll have to hold on until closer to DD....

How's everyone else doing this morning?

amy83firsttimer · 05/11/2014 09:16

Period type pains last night have stopped. Brushing my teeth this morning illicited a miniature vomit which got DH and me excited it might be the start of 'clearing out'. Nothing since. Going to a fireworks display tonight and then full moon tomorrow which we have hoped all along would be the magic combination to lure the baby out!!! Still not due til Monday though so probably wishful thinking.

Annarose2014 · 05/11/2014 09:39

Congrats mumonabroom! So glad it went fairly calmly for you.

Nothing happening in this house. MW appt at 11 where we'll no doubt discuss "options". DH is coming along for support/nosiness. I guess what'll happen is we'll book me in for induction next week and just cross our fingers that I go naturally prior to that.

I am going to be making it clear that its pessary or nothing, basically. I want to give my body a chance to do it itself.

Not sure whether to let her have a rummage around or not, tbh. I don't object on principal, but am not sure if there's any point. What do you all think?

amy83firsttimer · 05/11/2014 10:15

Are you past your EDD Annarose2014?

OP posts:
CazY777 · 05/11/2014 10:36

Me and the dog both feeling sorry for ourselves this morning, I'm going back to bed.

I'm having the same thoughts about sweeps Annarose, it will be good to hear what other people think.

I'm not at my due date for another week but I feel like I'm on a deadline, because of my 'advanced maternal age' they want to induce me at 40 weeks or go for frequent monitoring. I want to have a homebirth, which is possible if I don't go too far overdue.
