Waddle aboard ladies.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Today is one of those days I just want to curl up and cry but even curling up isn't possible any more!

After suffering HG for the first 19 weeks my sickness has returned, even the smell of food, air freshener etc is turning my stomach! Crampy pains and painless bump tightening too :( I need a McDonald's and a hug!

So excited to see the updates about the new arrivals! Congratulations to you all so far! all of my friends that are pregnant have had theirs already and I'm slightly jealous of all the squishy babies popping up on my Facebook! The girls all seem to be huge and the boys all around 6lb in my area!

Annarose2014 · 30/10/2014 13:58

{{{hugs}}} You poor thing!

I am a bit daunted by the idea of cluster feeding. I'm not great at just lying on the sofa for hours on end of an evening. I know people say "Think of it as a job" but I'm sure I'll get restless and pissed off and claustrophobic.

A friend of mine said to just aim for three weeks at first - she found the third week really tough cos of sleep deprivation but forced herself to get to the end of it. And then baby started sleeping a bit longer anyway so it got easier. So thats my aim! 3 weeks! Not so scary then!

I bought some individual bottles of formula to have in the cupboard. I hope not to need to use them for the first three weeks so I can fully establish my breastfeeding but if I'm losing my tiny little mind and weeping hysterically it'll be great to have them there so DH can do a feed. I find their presence very comforting!

CazY777 · 30/10/2014 14:12

Thanks WorkFree, you're due on the 13th too aren't you? I'm thinking of booking a pedicure at the local spa next week, and I can spend some time floating around in their warm pool.

Excitedforbaba - my sense of smell has been on overdrive for the last week or so, which makes me feel sick sometimes (but nowhere near as bad as the first trimester) maybe it's another surge of hormones? Not enjoying eating again (apart from chocolate), so much for eating for two!

excitedforbaba · 30/10/2014 14:31

Caz it's crazy how sensitive my nose has got again! In first trimester I even made OH change his deodorant! Confused

I'm loving eating just devoured a huge McDonald's but the smell of cooking at home just doesn't amuse me! Could happily live on takeaways for next 2 weeks or so but I'd be even more of a whale than I feel at the minute!!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 30/10/2014 16:29

With ds a health visitor friend said the first 2-3weeks of breastfeeding are hellish get through them and you will be fine and other than a minor problem she was right.

I managed to puke last night having through that delight had passed.

Cooking a massive Bolognese at mo, some for dinner, some for a pasta bake n then a third lot just in pot n both extra meals will be frozen for post baby.

I realised baby will be here in 3weeks and I have bag to pack!!, family Xmas presents to wrap so in laws n my mum can take them all with them as family all 200miles away and we are not doing that journey this yr. And I need to get making meals for freezer plan being cooking for dinner whatever can be batches cooked so doesn't feel like xtra work...

Ohhh n still need to do tax return for last tax year.

Must get arse in gear

haventgotaclue1 · 30/10/2014 17:02

eastmids your "to do" list is almost a replica of mine Grin - although feel rather pleased with myself that I have done the tax returns - really didn't fancy doing those post bran's arrival!

Welcome to the new joiners - any more "lurkers"??? Come and join us Smile.

Quite excited - tumble dryer just been delivered! Never had one before, but have caved in as felt that it would probably be a godsend in 2-3 weeks....especially over winter. Oh, anyone got advice / views on the following: Do you have to soak / pre-wash poo-covered vests / sleep suits etc before you put them in the washing machine? Probably a daft question, but I've no idea.....

haventgotaclue1 · 30/10/2014 17:03

"bran"???? Meant "bean" Confused

Thehedgehogsong · 30/10/2014 17:12

Haventgotaclue if the poo is breastfed poo it's like korma sauce and dissolves really easy. Doesn't even smell bad. A quick rinse under a tap gets rid of most of it, or you could just throw it in the machine.

Not sure on formula poo other than it's really smelly, so probably best to get rid of it before going in the machine!

Thehedgehogsong · 30/10/2014 17:13

Oh to add, breastfed poo does stain if left, there was slight yellow stains on dd's vests most of the time as I just couldn't keep up with the washing!

haventgotaclue1 · 30/10/2014 17:19

Thanks hedgehog - yep, am planning on BF, so good to know about the rinsing (and the lack of bad smells!)

utopian99 · 30/10/2014 17:21

Toni it's the flex - two loops so easier than a traditional wrap (I.e. long piece of fabric ,) and stretchy so you put on then baby in. Great way to start off, then we changed to woven wraps once he was strong enough to hold his head up and too heavy for a stretchy.

Everyone's posts have reminded me that I need to start batch cooking this weekend - planning for two weeks worth ideally. Fish pie, cottage pie, lasagne, risotto, pasta bake, tagine, any more ideas?

haven'tgotaclue I didn't soak/pre wash, but did do a hand rinse in the sink, as with nappies (we used clotg

utopian99 · 30/10/2014 17:23

Oops -that should be cloth nappies.

Bednest has arrived! My phone wants to correct that to Vermeer. Hmm

ladydolly · 30/10/2014 17:27

workfree I heard polish might be removed if you're having a section, just like any other operation I guess. I see loads of photos of people with extensions in their baby 1st photos though...

excited and cazY my sense on smell is also back into over drive, I was walking around town today trying desperately to avoid smokers in case I puked on them. I've stopped wearing my own deoderant because of the alcohol smell too.

Welcome giant!

39 weeks today. Backache and twinges continue but baby is still undecided on position and definitely isn't engaged, too busy wriggling around to restrict herself! Is everyone else having a 39 week appt? I'm not seeing my mw til 40 weeks now.

Annarose2014 · 30/10/2014 17:28

Oh shit....just realised we were meaning to get a new washer dryer before baby arrived. We just forgot!

Oh well, it'll have to wait a few weeks.

amy83firsttimer · 30/10/2014 17:34

I've had sharp twinges down right side of bump at 3pm, 4pm, 5pm and 5.30pm. Thoughts?

Utopian, thanks for the rinsing advice.

Re batch-cooking, my list includes: beef shin casserole, chicken casserole, ox-tail, lamb & apricot casserole, mince meat mixtures (to be made into bakes / chilli con carne etc)...oh, and have made up a load of soups in 2-people portions for me and DH Grin

amy83firsttimer · 30/10/2014 17:35

AO.com do next day delivery I think.

OhMjh · 30/10/2014 17:35

Hi ladies, is it okay if I late join? I'm due November 14th with a little lady.

I'm so glad I'm on the home stretch but my god is it draining. I have awful rib flare despite her being engaged ( thank you, long legged partner), got 3 hours sleep last night and I've spent the last hour pacing around the kitchen with lower back ache, period cramps and a very hard bump..I'm just so fed up now, I want this baby out :(

utopian99 · 30/10/2014 17:47

Mmm casserole sounds good.. trying to restrain myself from finishing ds’ supper now.

Thehedgehogsong · 30/10/2014 17:56

Amy just down one side? From top to bottom or just in the side? Strange! Is baby on that side? Doesn't sound like a contraction to me but the fact the pain is coming and going is a bit odd. If it builds up and hurts the most at the end before it goes again, it could be!

Thehedgehogsong · 30/10/2014 17:57

Hi OhMjh :) welcome!

Strawberryfield12 · 30/10/2014 17:59

Utopian my all time favourites are different tagines, all you will need afterwards is to put couscous in boiling water and nice meal ready! Either tomorrow or over weekend will make chicken, olives and lemon tagine.

Also have made potato dumplings with ground beef filling - heat them up and eat with sour cream. And red lentil soup, chili con carne, lamb stew with chesnuts and chikpeas.

amy83firsttimer · 30/10/2014 18:02

Just down one side - baby's always on the right so it's where it is. Had another one at 5.55pm. Been writing them down and bouncing on the ball plus had a sudden bowel movement. Hope this is it. I found out the other day that my sister was 2 weeks early with her one and only DC so fingers crossed!

Loving all the newbies. Welcome to the last haul.

Aquanatal today which was ace but knackering. I take it super easy but even that is hard work now.

On the batch cooking front I have been cooking double for dinner for the past week or so and freezing the extra. It has been beans with sausages, bacon and peppers (like gourmet baked beans), bolognase sauce, Jamie Oliver's pregnant Jool's pasta sauce, Ottolenghi chicken and macaroni cheese. Tonight is haddock chowder. X

catg83 · 30/10/2014 18:06

Amy83- good luck!
