Waddle aboard ladies.

Thisisimpossible don't worry the first few weeks of breastfeeding are more likely to hurt (a LOT in my case) than cause any kind of arousal! No man will dare to go near your poor nipples for a while, it's just too painful until it all settles done about 6 weeks in. Even then a twiddle from partner could result I him getting squirted in the face.

Greenstone · 29/10/2014 11:30

I had zero leaks or drips towards the end of first pregnancy and really worried that they wouldn't work. So it was a surprise to see bright yellow colostrum pop out when the midwife squeezed my boob on the postnatal ward! They will work, don't worry. This second time around I'm getting clear/yellowy drops if I squeeze after a hot shower.

Annarose2014 · 29/10/2014 11:43

I'm finding that pressing back into boobs works a bit quicker. Press back/roll out & repeat. Whereas at the start I think I was just er....blindly squeezing the bejaysus out of myself.

DH just came home with a TENS machine he's rented off a chemist. Am a bit scared of it! Tried it on my arm and it really smarts! But hey ho, will try anything when the time comes.

Morning, all.

Congratulations, happy & Winter Grin Hope you're enjoying the newborn snuggle time!

Welcome to the thread, Blondie & ark. Between the lot of us we've got pretty much all bases covered on the knowledge front, I think, so question away!

Sorry I can't see who asked what as am on phone, but just to confirm: it's definitely best not to look at the instrument they use in the ARM procedure! Luckily, a sweep is a lot less intimidating. It's my understanding that it's more uncomfortable if you're not already favourable, as the cervix is higher & harder than when it's already begun getting ready for labour. As always, remember that it's your right to turn down any medical interventions that you don't want, including sweeps!

No signs of imminent labour here at all, though am only 37+3 today. I might be ready, but clearly Bean is comfy where it is! Only 2 more days at work left now, wahoo! Though we have the auditors in today, which is rather manic & stressful. I'm trying to do my normal job but they keep popping their heads around the door and wanted to run through procedures etc. Feeling rather irritated and very paranoid that I'm going to get caught MNetting.

We have whizzed through the last couple of pages, it's hard to keep up! Hope I didn't miss anyone with any major announcements. Crossing fingers for more babies arriving without too much drama soon! Grin

I'm trying to get hold of a Close Caboo sling. Ebay ones seem to be going for about £38-40 second hand plus postage which isn't desperately cheaper than they are new. I found one on Argos for £44 but can't seem to get it delivered or offer to collect it now that it's in my trolley. Has anyone got any tips for finding them cheaper anywhere? Or any tips for any other type of sling?

ladydolly · 29/10/2014 12:25

thisis I've found baby stuff cheaper on Facebook selling groups and Gumtree than on eBay. There also seems to be more baby stuff on village selling sites than larger city/town ones...

Thisisimpossible · 29/10/2014 12:39

Oooh, thanks Ladydolly. I'll go and have a poke around Smile

Loving the lower back BH's today. If only they were the real thing - might make them more bearable!

Annarose2014 · 29/10/2014 12:54

Thanks for all the sweep info, ladies. Reason I was askng is that my next MW appt is 40&5 and she was saying she could examine me. I don't mind being examined at that stage, I'll prob want to know...but I want to be able to ask exactly what she'll be doing down there as unless she uses the word "sweep" she could be doing it without me realising!

Am highly aware nowadays that with birth, "presumed consent" is very different from "informed consent". Just cos I open my legs and let you have a look at my cervix doesn't mean have a prod at it!

haventgotaclue1 · 29/10/2014 13:27

Winter that's great news Grin. Very many congratulations Thanks

On a slightly different note and a TMI one....anyone else suffering from what I'm assuming is thrush? Really itchy and feels (can't actually see) swollen down below...have been reading stuff on NHS website that says you can't just use over the counter stuff but really want to get it sorted before Bean makes an appearance. Any suggestions?

amy83firsttimer · 29/10/2014 14:20

I think you can use the canestan cream but can't take the pill. Do an advanced search on here - there's been loads of threads about thrush. Sometimes the packaging will say that you can't do things that you can actually do. You may need to send someone who doesn't look pregnant to buy it.

Thisisimpossible-just be careful as there are a lot of fakes about, proof of purchase is usually the best way to avoid this..
there are a few sling fb groups ypu cpuld try and you should be able to get a genuine preloved one for around £30-40. Not sure about Argos..how annoying!

Thisisimpossible · 29/10/2014 14:42

Hi Crazy, frustratingly the nearest sling bank thingy is a good 35 miles away and I can't be arsed bothered to drive all that way at the moment. Added to that there's not another try on day for a while and I missed the one that was just down the road - it was held at the beginning of October and I hadn't got my head into gear about researching it at that point.

Thank you, I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and splash out the £30-40. And thanks for the heads up about the fakes Smile

Crazybit · 29/10/2014 14:46

Any sold on the sling groups should post for you..search for FSOT-Slings..or affordable slings for sale. Or pm me your fb emIp and i will add ypu to one :)

Thisisimpossible · 29/10/2014 15:40

Crazy you sweetheart! Thank you very much Smile

Crazybit · 29/10/2014 16:35

Sorry was rushing earlier as at dentist..hope you get one :)

DrBlondie · 29/10/2014 18:23

Thank-you ladies for the lovely warm welcome! And thank-you for the info about the whole books being sexual versus feeding. Was a bit worried about that.

Huge congratulations to our most recent graduates to being a mummy!

hotfuzzra · 29/10/2014 18:30

Hi ladies! I'm back at last! We moved successfully and I'm so relieved we're finally in, although Internet is not yet installed and house is in a total black spot for phone internet, hence the absence...
I've missed loads! So, good news Anna about your Dad, welcome to the newbies, and congrats to all the lovely mummies, popping out thick and fast now! I've still got 3.5 weeks to go and it feels like it's coming incredibly quickly.
I had a scare yesterday, came out of the shower and slipped on stupid wet floor with no mat (purchased today!) and slammed down onto my fat arse, kept still a few moments incase my waters went but nothing happened so I got up and carried on. Much later I realised I hadn't felt Donkey kick for ages so I got all panicky and when DH got home I started blarting about losing baby, we rang up midwife and she told me to try the cold drink trick which worked and Donkey was kicking again straight away, why didn't I think of that? I knew about it, I was just panicky... Anyway all's well now.
Hopefully no further slips or falls, but I doubt it as I'm walking so slowly and waddling that I couldn't work up much of a speed anyway!
Hope everyone is well.

Lily31 · 29/10/2014 18:33

Evening everyone... I'm actually an October thread poster, but have posted in here a few times. I am currently 40 +2 with my first... Have feeling I could be having a November baby.

Hope you don't mind me joining you for some company? There's only a few of us left on the other thread and we're keeping each other going. It feels a bit like sitting in a waiting room and you've watched everyone's name be called.... Then it's just you and no names are being called any more Confused

Someone told me to have a drink, i think tonight might be he night!

Thisisimpossible · 29/10/2014 18:44

Hi Lily, hop on over! It must be pretty quiet over there now Smile. Come share your agonies and grumps with us Grin

catg83 · 29/10/2014 18:44

Massive congrats winter.

Appointment went well. All boring and normal. Baby is still back to back but MW was very chilled out. She suggested all the same things again about keeping upright and leaning forward but also said "you have 2 weeks to go, anything can happen". He is fully engaged.
tmi warningAlso mentioned to her that my labia were very swollen and she didn't mention thrush but what she did say is lots of hydration (water and a sports drink a day) and it is probably just the vast amounts of blood going round my body.

moggle · 29/10/2014 19:41

Congrats to happy and winter- wonderful news.
I'm pooped! Really need to start relaxing on this here maternity leave. Hopefully next week...
Talking of slings- i got a fab bargain on an Ergo - found one in our local charity shop for £9 with newborn insert which looks barely (if at all) used. They are so expensive I am chuffed beyond belief to get such a bargain. Have carefully checked online and no sign of it being a counterfeit either so woo!

Any babies going to come overnight I womder?

MrsY87 · 29/10/2014 20:35

Congrats happy and winter! How exciting there are already 5 of us who have had our babies and it's not even November yet!

I've got a close caboo sling and it's great, would definitely recommend it as it means I can do things around the house whilst still having DD snuggled up to me...she seems to be very happy in it too.

catg83 · 29/10/2014 21:01

I have bought a Liberty sling from amazon, essentially one of the long pieces of material with instructions on how to wrap it round you to hold baby. We had a go with one at NCT and it feels very nice and secure when it is tied tight enough (not really possible when practicing with a bump!).
