Excited if it was within an hour of the test it could have caused a spike. Next time don't have a sugar or carb-fest on the day of the test Smile I didn't have four yes four slices of toast before mine nooooo. Wink .What you've eaten before won't affect the GTT though.

Well that's work finished with, I was given flowers and a nomination bracelet with a little pink pram (and the receipt just in case she is a he). Had a lovely lunch with colleagues then treated myself to a shopping spree but ended up with all baby things! Got my star blanket, our little baby boutique is selling tuppence and crumble ones, so excited. Also got more fitted sheets and a swaddled blanket. Picked up some infacol too as my friends have said it's worth having it in seeing as we are 30 miles from the nearest late night supermarket. I also picked up a pack of formula in case of middle of the night decision to combination/ FF.

On BF I was given the womanly art of breast feeding, any good?

That's rubbish about the gtt excited hope it was just your 'healthy' lunch that caused the higher readings.

binkybunny · 03/09/2014 17:10

Lily where I am go's can no longer refer for physio etc it's all self referral, unless you're pregnant then it has to be by your midwife. My MW still refused to refer me at my last appointment even though I can barely walk around Tesco's! She's sticking with it being normal during pregnancy. I'm so glad she won't be there at the birth, I think she might have got an earful is she had!

Lily31 · 03/09/2014 17:27

Binky that sucks. Now that you are on mat leave (yay!), you might be able to rest your back and pelvis more. I found taking some time off work did help to ease it. I was doing a lot of walking and climbing steps, and easing of those activities helped. I am back doing the same now, but hoping that with slow and sensible movements I'll not aggravate things too much.

Sounds like your workmates have treated you which is lovely. I also like the sound of all of the cooking people are planning. Salmon and asparagus lasagne sounds yumbo.

hefner · 03/09/2014 17:28

binky the womanly art of breastfeeding is good, it's very informative and I found it really helpful last time when I was having problems. I think it was quite heavy reading though (or maybe I was just sleep deprived!). The food of love is a much easier read.

ExcitedCJ · 03/09/2014 17:44

Thanks Me, Yellow , Lily & Binky just got call to say test is 7:30am at hospital. Nil by mouth including water until the test. Must take my am thyroxine at 11:59 or I'll be all screwed up with that too!!
Eeek... Fingers crossed it's all OK. I would miss chai latte & cinnamon buns on my day off!
Binky sounds like you had a great last day at work. The star blankets are my fav baby thing I have purchased this time round. I bought another one online at weekend, should receive tomorrow - charcoal 0-4 for my DS & a fawn coloured fleece hat too.

mrsb87 · 03/09/2014 17:47

36wk midwife appointment today and my normal midwife is off for a few weeks for surgery so I probably won't see her again! Again I'm measuring big for dates but this one seemed to think it was a lot of fluid but who knows. I will probably have to go for another scan. According to the measurements I should be 41wks now! Baby is the right way round but not engaged yet!

mrsb87 · 03/09/2014 17:51

Good luck for you gtt excited! That's a nice early appointment, I had to wait til 9:45 both times! I was bloody starving by 11:45. The worst thing I found was no gain control over night, nightmare!

Kirstipops · 03/09/2014 17:51

www.bhg.com/recipes/casseroles/freezer-ready-casseroles/?socsrc=bhgfb0830148#page=1 (Some recipes for you ladies not on the FB page, where I've posted the link a few days ago).
Usually I only tend to eat meat a couple of times a month but in the last few weeks I've been eating more, mainly out of knackeredness as it takes less effort than thinking up nice veggie meals! I hope I get my cooking mojo back, I miss enjoying pottering about. Standing at a hot hob with hams for feet is not what I want to be doing these days!

STIGZ · 03/09/2014 17:57

I was at physio today for spd. My pelvis was mis-aligned again so she put it back into place again, she also gave me crutches Blush ... Feel like a total wally using them but god do they help take the weight of your pelvis !! Anybody suffering should give them a try .. I have had no probz getting treatment and advice for SPD so i feel very sorry for ladies who are having to actually "push" to be getting seen by a physioShock

mum2kiss · 03/09/2014 18:09

Glad you've had some treatment stigz...this whole pelvis thing is no joke!

My word I am wiped out today...my dd just came and asked what's for dinner...she rarely eats so I know it's bad if she's asking about food! Planned to make chicken pie but can't even get off the sofa!

Missus2ndwife · 03/09/2014 18:30

Excited - what are these star blankets you mention please?
I'm looking for something nice & comfy for the bubba

SlideIn · 03/09/2014 18:32

Lily I feel your pain... I have GERD and really suffering atm as can't take usual meds. I find I have most trouble if I eat late, and foods which are particularly triggery for me are pastry, wholewheat, anything citrus-y or tomato-ey, alcohol & spicy food. I'm chugging back milk and a banana topped off with Gaviscon tabs (hate the liquid, bleurgh) before bed & have added more pillows so am sleeping raised. Still wake up yakking stomach contents every 3rd or 4th night though. S'grim.

Stigz My MW told me at booking-in appt not to watch OBEM - of course I did and almost exactly that happened in the ep I saw; woman staggered out of car with head out in leggings, collapsed in corridor, half-carried into delivery room, knelt next to bed, leggings down, baby caught! [Shock] Can imagine your trauma IRL. Eeep.

Bit spacey today; DP is on Warfarin as had blood clots following a broken leg a few months ago. He's had a cough for a couple of weeks after a lurgy and last night started coughing up blood, so A&E for sixhrs last night. he's ok, has no serious bleeding so antibiotics for chest infection is all. Bloody annoying he hasn't been able to get a GP appt. for those for days. Fecking NHS bastarding cuts.

Loulou888 · 03/09/2014 18:59

Anyone else extremely hormonal? Kids went back to school today. Basically sobbed all morning that I will never get the time back.... Also things really bad with DH :( I am fed up at the moment. He's being such a pig. Sorry to whinge need to let off some steam

LondonJen · 03/09/2014 19:02

Goodness ladies, keeps taking me ages to catch up, feel like my brain is in slow motion and keep having to give up and come back later. Apologies for lack of personal responses.

I went to breast feeding class at the hospital last night. I thought it was really good (but awful having to sit on those plastic chairs and so hot.) I was happy that there really wasn't much said that wasn't mentioned in the Food of Love book.

ExcitedCJ · 03/09/2014 19:03

Hi Missus I think from memory credit needs to go to Yellow for this one - tuppenceandcrumble.com/shop/index.php?route=common/home
The star baby wrap is the cutest thing, I now have a denim coloured one & a charcoal one. Perfect for car seat, baby carrying etc. softest most lovely snuggly fleece. Go to baby gift for winter baby from now on. :)
Thanks Mrsb I sincerely hope it was just caused by my 'healthy' lunch as binky suggested. No matter what, I guess I got an eye opener! Back on the beans & bacon & egg or porridge for brekkie! Normally lunch & dinner are reasonably sensible, except on day off!

Sorry to hear you are feeling emotional and fed up. Would it help to talk with your DH? It may be that it's your hormones making you feel like more annoying than he would usually be! (I've taken the assumption that all DH are annoying to a certain extent!)

Missus2ndwife · 03/09/2014 19:25

Thanks Excited and Yellow, those star blankets are too cute!! Are they not a bit big for newborns?

Has anyone done their birth plan? My consultant is nudging me to get it written down and I'm being very relaxed about it saying I'll go with the flow. The thing is from what I know most births don't go to plan and then people get upset when it doesn't

Bumpforme2014 · 03/09/2014 19:29

Yes I've been very angry with DH this week for the first time, yesterday I burst into tears when he told me to be quiet! Also been in general bad mood with everyone but think it's lack of sleep and having enough of work as well.

So I have a question, how much is your baby moving at moment? I'm 34 weeks now and she wriggles and kicks mostly same times everyday. Do you feel baby at night? I wake up several times during night and she is never moving....I'm praying it means she is a sleeper!

Missus2ndwife · 03/09/2014 19:39

Bump - my baby likes his sleep too!! I've just seen the hospital MW and she said movement can be associated with
A) how hydrated you are ie the more fluid you drink the more movement you feel
B) if you have been active during the day then you won't feel too much as the movement rocks the baby

As long as you're feeling movement and it's about the same all the time, you're fine. It's only if you stop felling movement that you need to go in immediately and do not wait.

YellowWellies · 03/09/2014 19:57

Missus2nd I'm v impressed your consultant has asked to see your birth plan. Its not been mentioned by mine probably as a second timer he assumes I don't care so much! DH knows what we want and - long handled forceps being a no no, a preference for a mobile epidural if I need one, avoiding diamorphine if possible, and wanting delayed cord clamping are about my only real preferences.

OP posts:
Kirstipops · 03/09/2014 19:57

I definitely feel less baby movement in bed, my job is mainly desk based so not very active and so I am very aware I have a wriggly wriggler! Baby also likes to disco to the vibration of the bus, I'm surprised my contorting tum hasn't freaked any other passengers out!!

Sorry you're feeling so rotten Loulou :( I seem to get spells of feeling like this for a few days and it really affects how I react to DH (where there would have been a sarky remark from me there is now sullen silence which builds into sobbing, sometimes accompanied by rage - e.g. last week where I said I would kick him in the balls as he was laughing at me, and then I promptly burst into heaving sobs), then the fog thankfully lifts! Honestly feels like puberty or something all over again sometimes!
I'm never affected by PMT/PMS and quite a laid back person in general, so being ruled by my hormones is a bit of a shock to the system, I sit and wonder where the real me has gone!

mum2kiss · 03/09/2014 20:07

So I have been meaning to put the warning out there about people trying to get to see baby when they are not well! Most normal people would keep their distance but in my experience some are so desperate to see the new baby they fail to mention they've felt like death for days and then the next thing you know baby has caught their lurgy. Another bug bear for when you start getting out and about more is that people like arrange play dates and then "forget" that little tommy has been coughing up a lung for weeks and the first you know about it is when he coughing up said lung all over your otherwise healthy baby!

Our worst incident was last year so Dd was 5 by then. Went for a play date and having a nice chat. Dd is playing with my friends little boy for at least an hour and then my friends says "oh I completely forgot our boy has ringworm!" What the fridge?! Now I know it's not life threatening but could mean you having to take time off work etc...so just wanted to put that out there that people get extremely forgetful about the state of their immune systems at times!

Missus2ndwife · 03/09/2014 20:18

Thanks Yellow!! My consultant is amazing and I have been well looked after.

My birth plan will probably be similar to yours - drugs & mobile epidural if I need one and as little interference as possible. I'd like to use the birthing pool is possible too.

I was told delayed cord clamping is standard these days as long as there are no problems during the birth. Might just add that to be on the safe side Grin
