twit sorry I don't know anything about it but do you have a midwife yet that you can call to put your mind at ease? Or you could even call the local EPU, I find they are usually very helpful.

I haven't bought anything yet and won't until my scan at least. We will need either a new cot or to buy a toddler bed for DS so the baby can have his cotbed. Undecided yet whether to get a double pushchair or just a sling. We are sorted for clothes if it's a boy because we saved pretty much everything. Also still have moses basket, baby monitors, steriliser, etc so not a lot to buy really. Just as well as we have our holiday coming up, then car tax and MOT, DS's birthday and christmas.

Twittwooo · 31/08/2014 18:04

Thanks all! I have been googling madly but didn't see much about tissue. Glad you did life - that puts my mind at ease a bit. We're not buying anything yet but hopefully won't need much. DD is 2 so we have kept most things. Kind of hoping for another girl as we're going to be really short of cash when I'm in maternity leave - I'm the higher earner and we'll keep DD in nursery so those fees will remain. DH doesn't want to find out the sex this time so will have to wait and see! What are other people's thoughts on finding out or not?

coastergirl · 31/08/2014 18:24

Twitt sorry I don't have any advice :-/ We are not finding out what we're having. I just love the idea of my husband telling me when baby is born.

Zebra I hate the blue for boys/pink for girls thing. If we have a girl I know my mum will buy loads of pink frilly things so we won't get any ourselves!

Panda I'd be trying to get checked out if I was in a lot of pain I think. Hope you're ok.

theonewiththenoisychild · 31/08/2014 18:36

twitt sorry i dont have any advice as ive never heard of it.

panda i would get checked out by epas/epu depending on where you live.

m27 the only reason i buy a new mattress is because when i had dd fsid leaflet said that you should always buy a new mattress. something about used ones loosing firmness

ZylaB · 31/08/2014 18:49

I've found it so hard shopping for clothes etc, all the girl stuff is really pink and I don't want to dress her like that. I've got a bit of pink stuff, but am looking for neutrals or other colours, wish places did more of it!

Twittwooo · 31/08/2014 18:56

I also hate pink and blue! DD has quite a lot of bright, unisex stuff so we can reuse that either way. I never have much of a problem finding non pink things - I like Gap, H&M and Little Bird, and shops like M&S and JoJo have surprisingly nice things sometimes I think. The Scandinavian brands are also lovely but a bit pricey!

FoscarC · 31/08/2014 19:01

Hi everyone. Hope you've all had nice weekend. We had dh mum, sister and sisters fiancé for the weekend. And my sister, brother in law and their 8 week old baby over today too. It was lovely. And we told dh family about the baby. MIL got us some lovely baby grows and bits. That's our first baby things! It's so exciting. We need to get everything. It's out first so we have absolutely nothing. I did however sell my car yesterday. So so sad Sad It was a Porsche and I'm going to have to save some of the money from it for baby things and buy a more sensible car to replace it. Booo!!

twitt I'm afraid I have no advice on your problem. I hope you get thins sorted.

panda I'd call EPU if you're in that much pain. I called my local delivery suit when I had some bleeding at about 7 weeks and they were really helpful and reassuring. I'd say that no bleeding was a good thing but I don't really know. How are your bowels? I had a very sore tummy up high when I was constipated.

Someone asked about sharp pains in their hoo haa. Well I've had that. Shooting pains going up inside. Think it's just everything moving about and stretching a bit.

pinkandstripey · 31/08/2014 19:06

Kind of hoping that v2 is a girl (I think it is), as we've given away 90% of ds baby clothes! Only thing we really need to buy is a cot bed, still have Moses, car seat etc. buggy can become a double (vista) if needed but seeing how much ds wants to walk everywhere, we'll make a call on whether we actually need the additional seat nearer the time.

We are moving house between now and then so sure I'll find more stuff we need!!!

junkfoodaddict · 31/08/2014 19:22

Just car seat, pram and sling here. I hated the baby carrier we had. it was red Kite, cheap and DS never really fitted well in it. He always fell backward when facing into our chests or forwards when facing out. Didn't matter how tight we tightened the straps.
I will give it a definite thought on the buggy once we've had our 12 week scan which isn't until 8th September.
Good luck with tomorrow to all those teachers going back. I am dreading it! Going into an OFSTED year but I am likely to miss the OFSTED (hoping!)

PickledPorcupine · 31/08/2014 19:39

No advice I'm afraid twitt but hope it stops soon. And I think the same panda, get checked out if it doesn't feel right.

Rainbow I've also had the shooting fanjo! I've had it before though during my stupidly heavy periods.

Good luck junk and all other fellow teachers. Sunday night blues x1million!

Lifeisabeach · 31/08/2014 20:08

We shouldn't need to buy much as I've kept everything we had for DS and DD. I'd like to get a sling though I think, have been looking at the Close one and the Moby.

I'm an ex teacher so I really feel for all of you who are back to school tomorrow. I now work in a preschool and don't have to be in until Wednesday. Hoping no one spots my huge belly - it looks really obvious to me and I have to wear quite a fitted polo shirt for work.

Last two days with DD before she starts school. Am feeling very emotional about it but I think being pregnant is helping a bit as hopefully I'll get to do it all one more time!

Rainbow555 · 31/08/2014 20:15

Thanks foscar and pickled, good to know. I was yelling and DH was like um is this something we should be worrying about?! Bless, I was pretty sure I and read stuff about ligaments but gosh is it painful! At least it doesn't last long.

Twit I hope you manage to get some reassurance and panda I hope the pain eases soon. All these crazy new pains and feelings hard to know what is normal and what is not!

Good luck to the teachers going g back today. My ms has been yuk so far this morning, and I was hoping to start Monday more positively! Ah well!

M27J5M · 31/08/2014 20:22

I never thought of that theone, it's practically unused but I'll have a proper look at it all then decide on a new 1 or not but probs get a new 1 cos it'll play on my mind now

theonewiththenoisychild · 31/08/2014 20:46

m27 sorry i didnt mean to worry you about it. i havent read anything recently as havent needed to look at baby things for a while as ds is 4 and dd is almost 7 so dont know what the advice is now

Twittwooo · 31/08/2014 21:07

Thanks for the support everyone. So many of us are teachers on here! We're already back but have been eased in gently. The proper timetable starts tomorrow so I've been a slave to my computer for most of the day! I can't seem to find any energy to work in the evenings so it's all been condensed into one day. lifes I often think of giving up teaching to do something like you are - did you find the transition easy? I just find this job takes up so much family time, and particularly now we have another on the way! Good luck to those going back to work tomorrow.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 31/08/2014 21:12

The pain has eased off for now but I think I'll give my midwife a call in the morning , I just hope she doesn't think I'm exaggerating Blush

fishfingerSarnies · 31/08/2014 21:23

Sorry twitt can't off any advice, but if the hospital weren't worried i'd hold onto that thought to try and ease your mind.

Still feeling sick as a dog, my mum has had to take dd and my puppy up to her house up north as I'm just not managing to do anything without feeling sick. Dh popped home for the weekend (for work so barely saw him) but it was nice to have some one to snuggle up to. Though I realised I haven't kissed him properly in 6 weeks as I feel too queezy. Sad poor bloke

Still feeling totally pissed off with being pregnant and have no interest in this poor baby, hoping that I will start to feel excited when I stop feeling sick! Right now I just keep thinking why? Why did we stupidly want another baby? Our lives had just got back to normal after the first one! I wish I could feel happy, I feel so depressed about the whole thing. It's not like me at all. Feel like I wouldn't even be interested in my scan if I didn't want to have all the tests etc.
Sorry for the moan, no one else to talk to.

Loving how organised some of you are with buying things already, didn't even think about it until 25 weeks first time round. Not superstition just laziness.

fishfingerSarnies · 31/08/2014 21:23

Sorry for the epic post.

Lifeisabeach · 31/08/2014 21:23

Twitt, I was a secondary teacher before so it's a big change! I love it though. I went back to teaching part time after DS, but when I was on mat leave with DD, a combination of things (mum diagnosed with cancer, OH got a new job, house move) meant that I made the decision to leave and was SAHM for a couple of years.

I started volunteering at the preschool after we moved house and that eventually led to a paid role - so I was just in the right place at the right time really. The pay is rubbish but the stress levels are a million times lower and it's just around the corner and next to the DCs' school, so really convenient.

Glad the pain has eased off Panda

Lifeisabeach · 31/08/2014 21:26

Sorry to hear you're feeling so low fishfinger. How many weeks are you now? Really hope the sickness eases off soon and you start feeling more positive about things.

M27J5M · 31/08/2014 22:18

You didn't worry me theone but realised I haven't had a proper look at it yet so will do closer to the time Smile

DurhamRed · 31/08/2014 22:31

Fishfinger I understand completely how you feel. It's so difficult to feel excited when you feel so sick all the time. This is my first pregnancy and it has put me off wanting anymore babies, I just wouldn't be able to cope if I went through hg again. I am waiting for the day when the sickness disappears so I can start enjoying being pregnant.

fishfingerSarnies · 31/08/2014 22:44

Thanks for understanding Durham you've had it worse than me what with hospital and all. I said to my mum today that if I'd felt like this with my first I wouldn't have had another. But I'm sure the memory of how awful this bit is will fade and if you want more you'll brave it again, and remember every pregnancy is different my nausea was mild with my first (though I moaned at the time, karma)

I'm sure when I see my scan and a little thing wiggling around on the screen I will fill up with love and happiness. Gutted as it looks like my husband won't be home for either of the scans.
I'm 11 weeks tomorrow so crossing fingers that the end of sickie hell is in sight. For every one. X

Surfsup1 · 01/09/2014 02:27

Hi Ladies,
So sorry to hear of the ongoing sickness - do the midwives/obs have any thoughts on ways to help the situation? I know it's not life-threatening, but there's no denying it is incredibly debilitating and depressing!

Also sorry to hear of others with worries and complications - crossing fingers for you all!

It's the first day of Spring here - feeling very excited about the approach of waker weather, but I know I'll be cursing it in a few months time.
I've started a very broad search for an au pair to help me out once the bub is born, as I know I'll struggle to keep up with a 7 and 6 year old once I'm dealing with a newborn. It seems so far off, but I'm thinking that a lot of people would need a fair bit of notice to plan a trip to Aus so I'm better of looking early!? That's the extent of my early preparation at the moment. I'm hoping to score lots of hand-me-downs in terms of cots etc seeing as I gave away EVERYTHING after my last DS! I really don't want to have to buy everything new again!!

Surfsup1 · 01/09/2014 02:28

Waker weather? Hmm, I meant warmer weather!
