mupperoon no sign of anything although i think bump is a bit lower and more square shape. currently have decorator papering baby's room, cant wait to get cotbed built & room ready even though little one will be in our room in crib.
dolly glad you're ok.
39wks yday, ready to meet little man already, have midwife on monday as next hosp appointment is 4days after due date, wonder will she do a stretch & sweep (how painful would it be compared to hosp internal?)

GrouchyKiwi · 05/07/2014 13:40

Really upset right now. We're making the baby's crib and some of the fittings are too small for their screws, etc. Called Babies r Us to arrange replacement fittings but they don't send out new nuts, you have to send the whole thing back. We've nearly finished making it so taking it apart would be a nightmare, they wouldn't pick it up till Wednesday and THEN send out a replacement. Which might have the same issues. And that's getting too close to due date.

Nearly lost it with the man on the phone (it wasn't his fault) so had to make DH talk to him. Just want to cry. It's so silly.

And the reason we're doing it today is that (TMI) my underwear has been very wet. Put in a pad, but I think it's just a LOT of discharge.

The crib is gorgeous so we're going to try quick fixes. It's very sturdy, so at least it's not compromising safety.

GrouchyKiwi · 05/07/2014 13:43

Ah great, and now having STRONG Braxton Hicks and back pain. That had better settle right down; not in the mood.

BlueC2 · 05/07/2014 14:09

Oh kiwi what a pain! I lost one of the fittings for DS's cot when we moved house last year and babiesrus don't stock any spares, though they offered me an entire set of replacement fittings for £20!! I wasn't impressed! Do you have a store locally that you could pop into and politely ask demand in a very hormonal possibly going into labour tearful state that they sort it out on the spot for you?? When's your due date? Sorry I've totally lost track of who's due when!

All fairly quiet on the BH front here though my stomach still insists on a full clear out after every meal which is interesting. Oh and I have the appetite of a hippo or other large animal, just so so hungry the whole time! Please little baby can we get things started soon, the weather is a bit cooler and mummy is ready now? Thank you

BlueC2 · 05/07/2014 14:11

penguins I think they're not keen on doing sweeps before edd, though your MW might be ok with it. I have no experience of having one but can't imagine it feeling less intrusive or painful than an internal exam?!

GrouchyKiwi · 05/07/2014 14:39

Blue We've since discovered another issue with it, so we're sending it back for a refund and I'm getting a new one from somewhere else. Have made myself some Nutella with toast to cheer me up. This is the first time I've been knocked for six emotionally this pregnancy so I'm not happy.

... And DH is now being told that it is possible to get spare bits for it so we're doing that. Person who answered when we called to get the refund actually spoke with a supervisor! So now I'm really angry with the first guy.

mummytobejuly2014 · 05/07/2014 14:45

grouchy we have bought the henley cotbed. hoping to build this weekend. can your OH adapt any fittings or anything rather than having to dismantle?
we had a complete mess with wallpaper. we bought "fun 4 walls" paper from homebase, all 5 rolls same pattern & batch number. one roll had ink splodges all over it, went to homebase to swap for another, waddled in (39wk+1) & customer service refused to swap because i did not have OH debit card. OH dad happened to be in shop & came to back me up, eventually got swapped for a new roll, come home & of course the pattern is off alignment even though all numbers etc match. decorator gives me a cutting to take to compare as 2 rolls already on walls & of the 5 in stock only 1 matches alignment but is open & dirty. ask for discount & got it for free! think this was cos OH was with me this time & got refund on out of alignment roll. staff ended up taking it all off the shelf to return to their supplier.
hoping the babies r us cotbed wont have issues/OH can work with

GrouchyKiwi · 05/07/2014 15:06

We've tried a couple of things, but the new issue is that it doesn't swing properly. So person we spoke with the second time is going to call the manufacturer on Monday morning, let me know if they can get replacement bits, and if not then we'll return it. They'll pick it up on Tuesday.

So I'll be able to order another crib from John Lewis on Monday if it turns out we need to. Don't want to go with Babies R Us again.

BlueC2 · 05/07/2014 15:25

Such a painkiwi whilst I love our cotbed and change table from babiesrus I wasn't v impressed with their customer service. mummytobe think it's the Henley one that we have...it will pass onto dc2 later this year though unfortunately has lots of teeth marks on it from DS who was a bit of a beaver when teething :)

I've just been for a little waddle to the corner shop for a large bar of galaxy which I've now eaten the whole of Blush but now regretting as it's set my heartburn off again!

How's the BHs kiwi ? mine have calmed again...grrr

GrouchyKiwi · 05/07/2014 16:01

I am disappointed because it is such a pretty crib, but if it doesn't work then that's that!

BHs have settled, thankfully. DH is trying his best to make me feel better, but it's hard because I wanted another thing crossed off our list and it's not.

Hope things start for you soon, Blue, since you want them too. It's horrible waiting around.

ismarah · 05/07/2014 16:35

Best buy for us so far has been a Sleepyhead bumper mattress in John Lewis. Not got the hang of the BF pillow we got there though.

HV today used the word 'thriving' about bean, despite a bit of jaundice. Weight loss from birth is 150grs which for her is 6%, well under their 10% healthy max.

MrsA2 · 05/07/2014 17:38

Dolly, glad you are ok, scary

Kiwi, what a pain - their customer service has been pretty useless too. Hope the spare parts sort it.

Ismarah, sounds like you are doing brilliantly. We've got a sleepyhead too, so really pleased to hear it's working for you. We are thinking of using it within the cot overnight - have you been doing this or just for daytime? And are you swaddling when using it or just wrapping sheets/blankets all the way around it? Not quite figured out how to use it best yet!

A few niggles again today, a bit more pressure and more brown blood mucus (nice). Had a bit of a walk and hoped it might get things going but no such luck. Maybe one day this baby will decide to come out. Perhaps another little walk tonight...

ismarah · 05/07/2014 17:48

MrsA We've used it in the middle of our superking bed and on the sofa. Also plan to use it in her cotbed once she starts to be in there. As the cover is apparently quite hard to out back on after a wash, we've got a large muslin over it and that's been fine. No swaddling in it, just blankies over it..

MrsA2 · 05/07/2014 18:48

Thanks Ismarah. Does the muslin tuck in underneath the sleepyhead? Bit paranoid about having anything loose underneath the baby but I guess muslins are pretty breathable anyway? I've heard amazing things about the sleepyhead so really hoping it works for us (if this baby ever turns up...!)

icklekid · 05/07/2014 21:39

Ohh ismarah so glad all is well with your little one your doing fab. Need to look into a sleepy head then by the sound of it?

mrsa know the feeling of baby never looked like they are coming! Have spent all day on the ball as so uncomfy otherwise! Have invited nct ladies over for lunch on thu- if that doesn't cause baby to come don't know what will Wink

kiwi gutted about the cot- I would be upset too! Ours had one screw that wouldn't turn lota of phone calls/visit into shop eventually they ordered one then when I got home they rang to aay they found one so went back to get it! Hope you can find an alternative you like just in case!

icklekid · 05/07/2014 21:44

blue sympathise with ridiculous amounts of braxton hicks... constantly. With out my ball would be in tears constantly I fear!

BlueC2 · 05/07/2014 22:12

ickle they're driving me nuts as only seem to properly come on in the evening, ramp up quite nicely and enough to get my hopes up and stop me getting to sleep til 2am and then die off again!!! Have decided to try and ignore everything this evening, refuse to sit on the ball and try and get comfy laid on the sofa ignoring the fact that labour could be approaching... Can't believe I'm trying reverse psychology with bean and he/she not even here yet!

fifi669 · 05/07/2014 22:46

I swear my downstairs just clicked. Not bump, not hip, definite fanjo. Weird.

mummytobejuly2014 · 05/07/2014 22:47

well & truely fed up still being pregnant, want this little person here! all scans showed measurements for today but never changed date of 11th, dont know how i'll cope if i go over. been hoovering & allsorts trying to encourage baby,no joy as yet. also VERY fed up of football/grand prix etc

BlueC2 · 06/07/2014 00:36

fifi I've felt v 'open' down there for last 24hrs in an odd sort of way.

mummy sorry you're so fed up - must be even more so with the dates too! V annoying!

I'm trying hard to relax about it all tonight and not had so many BHs. Period like pain just starting to ramp up again and twitchy legs/hot itchy feet preventing sleep though! Whenever I stand up it feels as though bean firmly down in my pelvis though so must be pretty well engaged by now!

Just realised we've not heard from liquid yet-hope all's ok?! And hope all ok with auntie after her transfusion etc.

Right, let's try sleep again!

ismarah · 06/07/2014 00:53

Re the sleepyhead - originally we just laid a loose muslin over it and it was the one we were using that day IYSWIM. We did buy a large bamboo muslin to experiment with swaddling and now I'm using that instead, ends tucked under. I did look at the size given for the sleepyhead and figured out it was about the right size for a fitted moses basket sheet so I got some cotton ones to try but they didn't quite reach. Maybe a stretchy terry cloth one would instead? The fabric covering it comes with isn't all that soft.

My little terrorist has been feeding nearly nonstop since 8pm. We've swapped boobs a couple of times, changed her nappy and got ourselves ready for bed but those have been the only breaks! On the plus side, my milk has come in as I can see her gob lovely little mouth full of it when she falls asleep and drops the nipple for 2secs.

fifi669 · 06/07/2014 00:55

DP had a work do of some sort after his shift tonight, he said he'd be back around midnight.... He doesn't go out much so I'll give him this one.... Even though he didn't reply to my text earlier. He's lucky I'm too tired to bother nagging :)

BlueC2 · 06/07/2014 01:02

ismarah meant to say earlier -huge well done on the bf for only 6% weight drop that's really great:) Seems you now have the joy of evening cluster feeding though! DS used to get punch drunk on milk and fall fast asleep afterwards (for a short time!) with a big grin on his face-we've got some classic photos of him like that!

Think my milk must now have reverted to colostrum ready for birth- DS wanted extra milky tonight as woke up upset with a dream at 11pm. Afterwards I asked if mummy's milk was yummy and he grinned at me saying mmmmm :) so much for everyone saying he'd not like it!!

ismarah · 06/07/2014 02:09

One thing we've changed our minds on was bottle feeding, ie beforehand I specifically didn't get any bottles or formula or even researched what we might get because everyone said I'd then be tempted not to BF. When we had a screaming bean on Thursday and DH did a panic trip to a (luckily open nearby) Boots and got some ready formula. She was so happy and settled after drinking 30ml it felt like a miracle. However it didn't change how I felt about breastfeeding her and I was so excited to have my milk come in and to be feeding her 'properly' this afternoon.

All not getting the bottles / formula / doing the research did was make the panic worse because we didn't know what to do or how to do it. DH has amazing google-fu and has frantically been figuring things out on the hoof as I think of something in the middle of a feed. Not quite how we've done everything else (picking bed, pushchair etc) and it felt rubbish and (albeit on purpose) woefully ignorant and ill prepared. As first time (older) parents we could have done without making this particular mess for ourselves.

Another thing we didn't plan to use was a pacifier or at least not right away but bean uses the boob or her hands as a pacifier. Tomorrow we will go shopping both IRL and online and remedy this.

Sorry for monopolising the thread - still feeding and fussing over bean, now into hr 6 straight. It's less fun than you might think...

BlueC2 · 06/07/2014 02:27

ismarah we ended up using a pacifier from day 3 having sworn I'd never let one in the house!! And it sounds like you've got one hungry little lady there!! BF is exhausting. I used to have a stash of cold galaxy bars in the fridge to munch on during/after night feeds!!
