Glad you are OK Ella and hope you had a peaceful night Ilove.

Quick question, at my booking in visit the MW told me that I would need a GD test because my DM has type 2 diabetes, well I am now 30 weeks and nothing has been mentioned. I haven't seen that same midwife again but have seen 3 others and a consultant. The first midwife also put me as high risk due to a 500ml bleed after my first child, all the other midwives have told me that 500ml is only just on the border of over the normal amount and they don't really think it was worth worrying about. The consultant signed me off high risk straight away when he saw me as he said it was perfectly normal and described the first midwife as "using a sledgehammer to crack an egg". I do realise that first midwife was only being careful which was nice of her, i did spend the first 24 weeks of my pregnancy worrying a lot though. So, (after all that waffle!) should in phone up and start nagging for a GD test (which made me sick when I had it in my first pregnancy - the results came back negative) or should I just leave it? I don't see a midwife for another 4 weeks, I have had no problems and feel perfectly well (I do know that GD does not always have symptoms though)

Inbl00m · 10/07/2014 10:14

sjs I think it's about what you're happy to go with. If you find out you've got GD later on and didn't get tested and you'd be happy with that, then don't trouble yourself.

I had to have the test for the same reason and had to chase up for it due to similar circumstances - never seeing the same midwife twice - would love to have a midwife I could get to know!

Thank you. Managed to sleep with thr diamorphine. Absolutely love that stuff!

They dont understand why this is happening but theres only a tiny change to cervix which they arent too bothered about as its still relatively closed. The change ia the plug thats come away. I put 1 pair of new pjs in hosp bag and 1 old plus 2 nighties. So im trying to keep changing to a minimum. Have got some pain now but its bearable.

Plan is
1- if I go in to full labour they wont stop it
2 if I dont and can manage with just tablets then I cam go home tonight and come back next week to see consultant on Wednesday.
3 if im still getting pains that need diamorphine then they will induce next week.

Ive got pain and its around 5/6 out of 10. I can manage with that. But tightenings are starting after ive been for a walk for some breakfast. No one gave me no food for tea yesterday and hardly ate dinner (I cant eat during labour pains) and thats what this is stop start latent labour.

Thank you all for your support your all fabFlowers

Thank you donteven I managed to get some sleep after beimg awake on adrenaline for over 30 hours. The diamorphine helped loads. Im still contracting every few mins but nothing I cant handle < Grin

Just thought I might be scaring some of you. Im sorry ifI am. If I am eeither pm me or mention on the thread. I like to update as it keeps me busy but if its a problem then please do let me know as I said I dont want to be scaring anyone off. The chancea of anything bad happening to anyone are so slim theres no point thinking about them at this stage which is why im relaxed about being here and updating if I thought it would end I tears then I wouldn't x

Don't b silly ilove. We want to hear how u r doing. It does make it slightly more real now tho.. At least u r measuring ahead of weeks, so baby must b a decent weight.

Just back from mw appt, still measuring small (measuring at 28weeks and I'm 31weeks on Sat) so have a growth scan booked in for Tues morning.
NHS classes still fully booked, so I'm so glad I paid for NCT classes which start tonight.
Wee sample showed slight protein but mw said she will check again in 3 weeks to see if it's still there.

Hope everyone else is ok.

whiteblossom · 10/07/2014 12:43

Just wanted to bob on and say im thinking of you Ilove, fx all is well xx

bugoven · 10/07/2014 13:34

I want to know all the details ilove. Keep posting if it helps you too. Hope you're ok and you definitely deserve a cape!

My MW is on leave so 31 wk appointment was with a doctor. I deliberately booked the doc with the scanner (my MW said I might get a sneaky look at baby) and got another peak at baby. Head and abdomen are measuring 34 weeks and femur 29 weeks. Basically same proportions as his dad. So so pleased and feels like he is nearly ready so if he came early he is a good size =)

Ella mum started on the tablets too before going on the insulin injections. Do agree try diet first x

thank you all for that. It does help a little like I can vent all it off here on mn.
Had a horrible few hours with pain.

So im dosed up in lots of pain killers but still getting contractions and now body is 'bearing down like pushing' and pressure in bum. Cervix still closed but myllabours arw dragged out and I know it takes me a few days to dilate 3 cm! So I dont expect anything to happen immediately. They don't want me walking as itmakes contractions and pain worse so if I can they want me to stay on ward. Not had no dinner yet as I was in too much pain so will have to wait foe tea!

Babys heart rate was a lil suspicious so kept on monitor for a while longer. Kept dropping.
Contractions werent coming up on monitor and I did tellthem and I said I know im ggetting them but dont care if tbey aren't showing as all I want to know and make surw is thst my baby is ok and they agreed x

Gosh Ilove what a time you're having. Don't worry about telling us on here :) Thanks You seem to be doing a good job of keeping calm! Definitely superwoman lol.

Well I've come home early from work today as had my third dizzy spell this week :( generally just feel exhausted. Went to my mum's and she checked my blood pressure which was fine. Iron levels were fine at 28w check but I guess they could have changed.

Teaching year 1 and being 33weeks pregnant is getting hard. Only got 6 days left to work though so I really want to make it! Might take tomorrow off though if I need to but feel so guilty.

Not easy this pregnancy lark is it! Grin

ilovemonstersInc · 10/07/2014 16:40

Top have u had your iron levelschecked?
If not do mention to mw

thank you all. Feel like this thread keeps me going x

RedToothBrush · 10/07/2014 16:49

topmammy, whats your fluid intake like?

The heat isn't helping me, but keeping hydrated seems to ease it.

ilovemonstersInc · 10/07/2014 16:50

Why did I google 32week prem baby images!

OP posts:
topmammy · 10/07/2014 16:58

Haven't had another iron level check since 28w, but it was normal then. I will ask for it to be checked again though at my appt next week, or sooner if I carry on feeling off.

Red, I try and drink lots of fluids but tbh I probably don't drink enough as teaching infants full time doesn't allow me much down time at all. If I so much take a sip of water some of the little angels use that opportunity to their advantage lol.

DH is cooking me steak at the mo, trying to increase iron intake just in case it is that!

RedToothBrush · 10/07/2014 17:44

Any excuse for steak sounds good to me topmammy!!!

ilove, bless you. Probably a bad idea, but maybe its better to prepare yourself so you can ask questions and come to terms with things. I don't know.

Please remind yourself this for your sanity.

  1. He is likely to have breathing problems BUT you've had the steroids so thats a lot better. Plus his size may mean his lungs are better than if he was smaller.
  2. He's bigger than he should be. One of the things they look at will be his weight when it comes to him being allowed home. Your little fella hopefully won't look as fragile as the babies in those pictures.

Maybe you should have a wander over to the premature birth section on MN and ask a few questions from people who have been through it, and maybe can give you a bit of support from an angle we might not understand. (But don't you dare think I'm trying to get rid of you from this thread!!!)

Topsyloulou · 10/07/2014 17:58

Thinking of you Ilove. Hope the pain is manageable. You are absolutely not scaring me but you have made me realise that the little man could come at any time & I really need to get my arse into gear & pack hospital bags, wash babygros etc!

Those of you who have been prescribed iron tablets, how long has it taken for them to kick in & make you feel a bit better? Wasn't surprised that my blood test came back anaemic today as have been feeling super tired & generally not right, just wondering when I might pick up a bit.

ilovemonstersInc · 10/07/2014 18:19

Thank you.
I was goimg to pop over there and make a thread to ask about all this.
I do like to be prepared and in control so if I can pick up on some medical lingo too thats a bonus I like to do what I can for my kids (like most decent mothers would). Just can't shake that feeling like this is happening because hes not happy. All of a sudden hos movements become so erratic and with his h.r falling too does concern me a bit. Concerned the mws before 3 came in to check. They want me back on the monitor soon.
From Tuesday ive been on the monitor close to 20hours!

Topsy I started feeling a lil better close a month into taking them. They need time.to.build up x

Ilove - my friend had twins at 32 weeks and to see them now you would not know they were premature. They are 3 and half and are stong strapping boys! Born at 3lbs15 and 2lbs13. By about 2 I was unable to pick them up together. (I can still pick up my 7 yearl old nephew and 3 year old niece together!)

ilovemonstersInc · 10/07/2014 18:29

Aww. Well the estimated weight us 5lb for this baba so hopefully that will help

ilove Thinking of you! You do seem to be handling it like a trooper though! Of course i'm sure we all want to be updated with how you're getting on!

ella Just the thought of a class of year 1's makes me feel tired, so you must be knackered!

Inbl00m · 10/07/2014 19:01

Keep posting Ilove - we're all thinking of you and hoping you're ok!

Topsy I found that iron tablets made me feel significantly and surprisingly a great deal better after just a couple of days. Hope you find the same Smile

AlwaysandForever09 · 10/07/2014 20:13

Another one here who agrees you should keep posting ilove I think its really useful to know what does happen at that stage, hope your okay, and not in too much pain, have you managed to eat anything yet?
