Ilove and Ella - thinking of you both Thanks

Noodledoodledoo · 09/07/2014 18:45

Hi all - I have posted this is Pregnancy as well - just wanting to get as many opinions as possible.

I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow - its my 28 week appointment although I am 29 weeks.

I always come out feeling like I should have asked more questions. I am having extra appointments due to consultant care. But I was wondering if people can think of things I should have been told about by now. After latest appointment mix up with GTT test I feel like I need to be one step ahead.

On my list so far are:-
MATB1 form - still not been issued
Hospital tour
Hospital parent craft classes
GTT results
Birth Plan
How/where I get my BP checked from 36 weeks on - recommended by consultant but no info!

Is there anything else that might be useful - I get the feeling with mine if I don't ask the right questions I will never find out!

I may not reply to quickly as we start NCT tonight.

Thanks.

Thinking of you ilove and ella Thanks

DearDinah · 09/07/2014 19:10

noodle they look good Q's, although I had to book my own tour/class by looking on our hospital website for the details, also told my birth plan won't be discussed until 36 Wks

sjs1528 · 09/07/2014 19:40

Hi, I have been lurking on this thread since the very beginning, (due on 20th of September team pink) I just wanted to say to Ilove and Ella that I am thinking of them both xxxc

Nazly · 09/07/2014 19:56

Ilove hope you are OK, come and let us know how you are doing when you can pls xx

Noodle I was going to say the same things deardinah said... Had similar things in my list but some were postponed and some you have to book yourself...

Nazly · 09/07/2014 20:04

By the way, We had our hospital tour on Saturday morning and I had no idea what to expect before my tour as this is my first and I've never really been staying in hospital for any reasons, so really had no picture of how it is going to look like ; but after the tour I felt better than before... I now have a better picture of what is what and where...

I also liked their birth centre so much to want to try giving birth without pain relief ... I didn't think I'll go for it before...

Hey, just catching up with the thread. So much happens so quickly!

Ilove, I hope u r ok.. Am slightly freaking out at how unprepared I am, and that we really don't have much time left to get ready.

Mw appt tomorrow. Hoping that I measure bigger this time, as it will mean growth scan if not..

ilovemonstersInc · 09/07/2014 21:04

I am glad I got most of my hospital bag ready!
Babys is half done but he can't wear clothes yey apart from a hat (if he comes soon) and luckily I have 1 hat, socks and a bib in my bag for him.

RedToothBrush · 09/07/2014 21:06

ilove, I know its not a good situation to be in, but it does sound better than it could be. Baby head down is great news and being big in this situation is not a bad thing.

Obviously I hope its not but it does sound like someone is impatient to meet you.

I hope tonight brings you good news one way or another

x

DearDinah · 09/07/2014 21:21

Welcome sjs congratulations, we're having a daughter also :)
nazly we had a tour too last weekend, it made me feel a bit better too, although I think I need to switch OBEM off now!
cindy wishing you all the best for appt tomorrow

My feet/ankles are gigantic, anyone else! Lol

ilovemonstersInc · 09/07/2014 21:50

Thank you red. Thats what they said. The extra pound or so in weight will benefit him.

Contractions not too bad atm. Still effect of tablet so will see how I go.

Plus I dont labour quick!

OP posts:
Teabiscuits · 09/07/2014 22:05

ilove really hope everything is ok. Let's hope the tablets work and baby waits a little longer, or that baby arrives as healthy as possible if that's what happens. Thinking of you xxx

ella it just seems to be one thing after another for you recently doesn't it?! Poor thing, at least all is well with baby. Hope you start to feel better soon. Antibiotics tend to make me feel pretty weird so maybe that's a factor.

I have been braving One Born Every Minute the last few weeks, makes me cry my eyes out! (Although I'm undecided if that's because I'm emotional or that it's reminding me of how much this is going to hurt!)

I have a male mw Hmm and im due the steriod injection in my arse at 2am lol

hes an arse. Dr came in and said when pain is unbearable I can have gas and air so mentioned it to him but also said im coping pretty well atm so dont need it but wantes you to be aware. He said I was told you cant have it.
I argued with him until he shut up. Its extra work for him to go and find bits and pieces thats needes as its not used a lot on maternity ward.

ilovemonstersInc · 09/07/2014 22:09

Thinking about you ilove. Tell the mw to be nice!

Saw my mw yesterday. Mentioned that baby had been quieter over weekend - was busy, lots of Tour de France running around - and she was totally unconcerned and said only 28 weeks still small enough not to feel it a lot. I got feeling she wasn't interested - plus she asked twice within about a minute what EDD was so felt like she wasn't listening. The hospital I'm due to give birth at is going to midwife led care at some stage so I may have to change trust or hospital. Mw cross as haven't made mind up yet; want to talk through with my consultant as change of trust will mean losing her, but hospital a lot closer. Anyway mw clearly thinks I am an idiot...the other hospital is over an hour away which I'm not sure I fancy, especially if we get there to be sent home. Then student mw - who is lovely - measured bump as being 30 weeks - I'm 28 + 5, and asked mw if she wanted to check it. The reply, no, she has a growth scan soon anyway. I wasn't that fussed but just felt a bit like she couldn't give a toss. And I get that I'm not important, but after 3mc and what have you, I could do with coming out of those appts feeling vaguely like I know what is going on. In my notes there are things that she should have discussed and didn't. I think I'm just beginning to panic a bit.

Sorry for the rant, honestly didn't mean to it sort of spilled out.

ilovemonstersInc · 10/07/2014 02:08

Just managed to sit down and read the posts for the first time in a few days and I've missed loads!!

ilove I really hope you are ok and are managing to get some sleep in the hospital, I'm thinking of you Flowers It's daytime here when it's your night-time so if you want to have a chat at all I'm here for the night shift :)

It has freaked me out that the babies could be closer than expected will be finding the newborn clothes in a minute to get them all washed!

Ella I hope you are feeling better and that this pregnancy gets easier for you x

Welcome team and sjs :)

I hope all growth scans, test etc. are going ok, and those that have worries get listened to.

Interesting to hear about the difference in measurements, my midwife here doesn't measure at all, just has a feel and then writes down that it all feels fine for dates. It's all a bit more relaxed here, but I think it is because she does home visits so always has time to chat, and from 28 weeks you get a midwife visit every 2 weeks (1 every week from 36) so there is not the same pressure to rush people through as there is in UK - I barely saw my midwife for 5 mins at a time when I lived in UK. My midwife did freak me out slightly the other day though as she felt baby and then said you have good sized babies don't you, it feels big already!!! I'm having a elcs but dc3 managed to get stuck during the section due to huge head and shoulders so it does not fill me with confidence...

holls2000 · 10/07/2014 07:16

Ilove hope you have had a decent night xxxx

Inbl00m · 10/07/2014 07:46

ilove how's it going today? Have had a couple of days away from reading this thread and so much seems to have happened!

Have had some good news this week in that I haven't got GD and iron levels are back up so if she's head down I'll be able to go to the midwife-led unit. Had a tour this week and so much nicer than our local hospital!
