Ella that's good to hear! The hospital letter I rec'd said I may need two tablets a day so three sounds a lot!! Do you think I should check it?

If the bloods were done at the hospital then they will have the results and then they usually post them to your gp. If you mw is hospital based then she will be able to access them if you give her a ring.

ilovemonstersInc · 04/07/2014 13:09

You could ask the mw at hosp to check results, say you was worried about them

blossom im on 3 a day too! I have them after meals. Dont take with caffeine though they stop you from absorbing the iron. I heard having them with an orange helps absorb.

got stuck trying to reverse out of a parking spot Blush I had the rail on one side and car parked too close on other side. I could have cried lol. I think im doing good driving. Its been around 6weeks since I passed and I've even managed a trip during rush hour to the hospital which going and coming back took over 2 hours driving (coming back took close to hour and half) so was very proud of myself.

For all of you doing blood sugar things, my SIL had gd, the worst reading she ever got was 12.7, she had some other high ones too. She didn't have to go on insulin, just had to be really careful with what she ate which I can imagine sucks. Hope it all works out for you x

I went to get checked over yesterday as suddenly got awful bump pain, and after having an abruption in my last pregnancy I really can't be too careful this time. I then really worried the midwife by measuring small for dates, then she couldn't find a heart beat. I was laying there quite happily knowing baby was fine - I had felt kicks about a minute before she tried to find it. I told her about the kicks but she went very quickly to fetch the doctor, who came in with the ultrasound and confirmed that yes, baby was fine. I still had to be hooked up to a monitor for about an hour, but baby refused to cooperate and kept moving so I was sat there for about an hour just trying to get a decent trace!

Then got sent for a growth scan, (i had one next week anyway but they brought it forward) and baby has dropped down the growth chart a bit, but not worryingly so. Baby stuck her fingers up at us as if to show her disapproval of being poked around so much!

Of course by this time, the pain had gone...
This is feeling a bit like history repeating itself, I measured small last time, got sent for growth scans, got told it was fine then had an abruption. Seeing consultant next Tues so hopefully he will take my concerns seriously.

I'll be glad when this is over and done with!

ilovemonstersInc · 04/07/2014 14:10

Its not bloody easy is it?!?!

Glad everything was ok and that you get a scan sooner and hope the consultant takes you seriously!

In last pregnancy the dr came in with ultrasound machine as when he was feeling bump he couldn't feel ds head at all Hmm turns out he was fully engaged lol.

These pregnancies have all been very dramatic for all of us lol.

How is everyone feeling?

Hello all, ella that does sound uncomfortable, do you have one of those neck pillows for travel that may help take the pressure off your ear also try a hot/warm flannel.

So I had my midwife appointment today and she was worried about my size and the baby (to big) although he is in the normal ranges. So she sent me to hospital to go get checked out by the consultant and they have said it's fine but are giving me a scan in two weeks to monitor.

Also got to work and one of the parents (nursery) who knows I am pregnant said to me 'hello chubby' I was not impressed!

tea thanks for the info about your sister, its good to know that. Also fx you are ok too!

Oh yeah also got told my thyroid is low Confused ella have you had yours checked? The diabetes midwife had it checked as standard for all gd women, but my community midwife was confused why I had had it checked!

And the the dr also didn't prescribe everything on my list so I still don't have a sharps bin bah!!

topmammy · 04/07/2014 18:14

Oh my gosh it's Friday again!! Not that I'm complaining, but the weeks are really flying by Shock

Sorry for those of you having to cope with checking your blood sugar and all that jazz, it sounds really time consuming!

Very warm today, I'm feeling totally zapped!

I must start listening to my natal hypnotherapy CD this weekend.

ilovemonstersInc · 04/07/2014 18:37

I want to be Induced at 38 weeks due to previous problems so that's the latest im happy for and consultant didnt say yes or no when I mentioned it to her. She asked me what do you want to do and I said beiinduced no later than 38weeks. Birth plan will get setaafter scan on Wednesday hopefully.

Im hoping hes moved from being laid across to head down but doubt it.

You can buy a sharps bin for 2 or 3 quid at local pharmacy. I was told when I started blood thinning injections.

Cookie how many weeks was you measuring? Im 32 weeks today and he was measuring 41 weeks the other day!

Teabiscuits · 04/07/2014 18:45

Lots of us do seem to be having some kind of drama don't we! ilove I would assume they would look at delivering early, surely baby can only get so big before it starts getting risky for both of you. Hope all goes well x

cookie if you need a sharps box it might be worth phoning your local council - they do a free service in our area, Hubby's Grandma just has to ring when her box is full, they take it away and deliver a new one. she's a bloody liability though, she has been known to wrap her sharps up and put them in the bin, and I once had to stop her from fishing around in her sharps box for a lost earring

ella that does sound like you could be coming down with something - my gums and mouth get sore when I get a cold. Hope you get better soon x

topmammy · 04/07/2014 18:51

I meant to ask, can anyone recommend a good baby sling? I want one that would be suitable for round the house, something comfy, so not really one that's heavy duty and bulky that would be for going out and about. I've been looking at reviews but there are soo many, it's like trying to choose a travel system all over again lol.

cookielove · 04/07/2014 18:56

ilove I am 28+4, measuring 34, I'm not to fussed though cause baby's measurement's are good. The consultant said he was following his line in the normal range.

There is something else missing in my prescription I just don't know what it is, there qas 4 things on it and he gave me 2. The sharps box was the thing I remembered. But it's good to know I can buy one or get it from the council!

ilovemonstersInc · 04/07/2014 18:57

I had the baby bjorn classic. Got it free to review and another one. It is a lil big but from the 3 I got to test it was the best. I used it after a long haul flight when ds was over a year old. It was brilliant.

Its a lil big as it has the right support in place bottom of spine, back, shoulders etc so its comfy.

Hello ladies. Sorry to hear we're all struggling. It's bloody hard isn't it?

Feeling really down today. Really struggling with DH who has had bad back troubles since Christmas (so basically since I got pregnant). He's not been able to do much physical around the house and I can sympathise (indeed I have a lot of back problems myself so I know it bloody hurts), but I'm currently working full-time, and also doing all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping and sorting all the bills. Also whilst I appreciate there's a lot he can't do I think there is still a lot of stuff he could do to help but hasn't been. Also, work just seems relentless and I feel I'm being asked to take on more and more, and I've got another 9 weeks to go yet. Coupled with a couple of bad nights sleep due to bump making me uncomfortable, I was just exhausted this morning and ended up arguing with DH for complaining about how much he was struggling and not acknowledging I was struggling to, ending up crying all the way to work, then had to go work where we had a big meeting which confirmed (without boring you all with the details) the future of my job is quite uncertain and there's going to be a lot of changes over the next two years, so I have no idea what I'm going to come back from maternity leave to. Came back from work and just ended up crying on the sofa again. I feel a bit better now for talking to DH (without arguing) and explaining how I feel. Just feel mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted at the moment. Sad

cookielove · 04/07/2014 22:14

kitkat oh wow that has got to be really tough on you, alot to carry on your shoulders! Is your dh not working?

KitKat1985 · 05/07/2014 12:15

Thanks ladies. xx DH is working in the main (I.E, he's not signed off sick long-term) but he has called in sick the past couple of days. I know he's struggling and I'm really trying to be sympathetic, but he seems to have decided the past couple of days that since he is off sick he'll just sit on the armchair and watch TV, which is what triggered us arguing yesterday, as I just think even if he's not able to do much physically there are still things he could be doing that are more helpful than just sitting down watching TV all day. Hmm

EllaBella I definitely think you should give the midwife a call or the out-of-hours GP. Bad pain isn't normal and at least it will give you some reassurance if you get checked out. Hoping you feel a bit better soon. xxx

Fairypants · 05/07/2014 13:29

I agree, you need to get checked out Ella- it may be just a virus or something else totally not pregnancy related but any headache that goes on that long should be checked.
Sorry lots of people seem to be struggling at the moment. I have to say, this heat has been hard to cope with and made sleeping even more difficult but at least I don't have any major worries like some of you.
I started antenatal classes on Thursday which made it all seem a bit real and imminent! I'll be 30 weeks on Monday which also seems like a big step in pregnancy!

RedToothBrush · 05/07/2014 13:33

Ella I really don't want to encourage excessive worry, but with that combination of symptoms, you really should get checked out.

www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Pre-eclampsia/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

Initially, pre-eclampsia causes:
high blood pressure (hypertension)
protein in urine (proteinuria)
You probably won't notice these symptoms, but your GP or midwife should pick them up during your routine antenatal appointments.
High blood pressure affects 10-15% of all pregnant women, so this alone does not suggest pre-eclampsia. However, if protein in the urine is found at the same time as high blood pressure, it is a good indicator of the condition.

As pre-eclampsia develops, it can cause fluid retention (oedema), which often leads to the sudden swelling of the feet, ankles, face and hands.
Oedema is another common symptom of pregnancy, but it tends to be in the lower parts of the body, such as the feet and ankles. It will gradually build up during the day. If the swelling is sudden and it particularly affects the face and hands, it could be pre-eclampsia.
As pre-eclampsia progresses, it may cause:
severe headaches
vision problems, such as blurring or seeing flashing lights
pain just below the ribs
vomiting
excessive weight gain caused by fluid retention
feeling very unwell

If you notice any symptoms of pre-eclampsia, seek medical advice immediately by calling your GP surgery or NHS 111.

If you had hadn't said so many things that fit with together, I wouldn't say this. But you are saying - Protein in urine, severe headaches, feeling sick, pain in your face, swollen feet. Thats too many off that list to not take seriously.

You are definitely NOT being over dramatic as far as I am concerned.

I hope it turns out to be nothing...

ilovemonstersInc · 05/07/2014 16:02

Hope your ok ella Flowers

Hope you are ok Ella, I would def go and get checked out if you havent all ready. I think it is better to be on the safe side.

We are all going through it aren't we! I didn't think pregnancy would be this difficult.

Just got back from a few days away with DH. It was much harder work than I though, and I realised I couldn't do as much walking as I was used to. Was nice to be away though, and to relax after the previous few days Grin

Teabiscuits · 05/07/2014 20:37

Hope everything is ok Ella - agree with going to get it checked as it has gone on so long Thanks .

May have gone a bit mad with internet shopping in the last couple of days. Have bought mattress toppers and new bedding for my 2 older DDs, new muslins, bottles, more reusable wipes, a mat for the bath for DS and some personalised stickers for older DDs' school stuff.
I think I'm panicking at being unorganized so have resorted to buying random (although needed) things to make me feel better!

cookielove · 05/07/2014 21:42

Hope you a feeling better ella

I really am annoyed, for the third night in the row i have tested to high in blood sugar, and had no bloody sugar today, so where the f is it coming from!!
