Hiya ladies, everyone okay? Not had chance to read through properly, just popping on while kids dinner is cooking, got a mega migraine and earache so not feelin too good :(
Health visitor popped round to introduce herself today with us being newish to the area, she seems really nice :) and seeing mw tomorrow, making the first steps to getting help with my depression and panic attacks, really been struggling a lot and can't keep going on the way I am :/
Counting down the days til our scan on the 16th, hopefully will be discharged from the consultant which will be good news, and HV told us we should start thinking about booking a tour of the birth centre- scary!! Lol x

Hello ladies :)

Had school sports day today. Was ok as I had a chair to sit on but gosh it's exhausting trying to keep a class of Year 1 children sat on the grass - they are like little ants trying to scurry away all the time lol.

Ilove Bless you, hope your cramping eases off soon.

Fairy is CityLink the courier that Mothercare has been using for you? That's the courier company my MCare uses and they are sooo crap. They lost box 2 of 3 of my nursery wardrobe, so spent weeks waiting similarly to you. Eventually they decided to collect box 1 and 3 and send out a whole new set of wardrobe boxes. Madness! Mothercare need to get their own delivery vans IMO.

Red Whilst I don't have the same fear as you exactly regarding VB (although of course I'm pretty scared), I can certainly empathise with your difficulties trusting that people really care about you and your needs. I felt like that when I broke my ankle and was worried if I would need an operation - I just couldn't shake off this fear that I was just a number and not a person with a massive fear! Same with the problems i'm having with my workplace at the moment giving me written confirmation of my Maternity Leave & SMP (been waiting since 22nd April and my emails are ignored etc). I just feel like i'm so unimportant to them and that they have done f*ck all to arrange my maternity pay. I won't be surprised if I end up having to fight for it whilst caring for my newborn if things carry on like this.

I feel like the anxiety I feel about these situations is partly due to how I personally deal with stress, but not entirely just that. Like someone else has said though, strikes don't just happen overnight, they do take a while to organise so I really don't think you should worry about it (I know that's easier said than done :) ) It's still a 'what if' situation and as I know all too well, worrying about what if's just send you into a vicious circle of anxiety. I just need to accept some of my own advice now and i'll be fine lol.

Teabiscuits strange indeed! It is a small world :) How old are your 3? Mine are 6, 4 and 2 so have never got out of the nappy stage and my 2 year old still doesn't sleep well so I'm hoping that'll prepare me a bit for what is to come! I'm still a bit scared about doing the school run with them all though... I only really know one other person who has 4, most round here seem to have 2, or 3 at most. I got a few looks the other day when walking around with my 3 with my big bump Grin 'You've got your hands full!' seems to be the standard comment since I had dc3...

ilove hope you are feeling better Flowers

Topsy hope the job situation works out

Red fingers crossed everything goes to plan for you

Saw the midwife yesterday who had a feel of baby and said "you have good sized babies don't you!" - thinks this one is going to be big!!

*dont even mine are 7, 5 and 1, so slightly different there but not by much! We were free of nappies for a couple of years between DC2 being potty trained and DC3 arriving - have only just cracked being dry at night for both older ones in the last year though!

I also get the 'you've got your hands full' comment a lot. I know one other Mum with 4 quite well, there are a couple more at school but not many!

To be fair this baby was quite a shock surprise. We had always said never say never, but we hadn't counted on it being this soon! As soon as we got our dates confirmed, we knew that some lamb chops, a bottle of red wine and a contraception failiure were to blame! (We were careful, honestly - no one believes us though!)

Our major problem had been the car, as we have all the baby stuff still anyway. Just got a VW Sharan which should just about do it - DH fit a colleague's mountain bike standing up in it the other day!

I am worried about coping with 4, but I'm sure we'll manage, we always do somehow Smile.

dontevenblink · 02/07/2014 12:19

Teabiscuits very similar ages then!

We were exactly the same, hadn't totally discounted a 4th, but almost, and weren't trying, but we have DH's Christmas work do (and actually relaxing for a bit) to blame! I mentioned to a friend the other day that that was the last time we had been out on our own together (no family babysitters, definite downside of living on other side of the world!) and she put two and two together straight away and said 'and look what happened then!' !!! We were definitely in shock for a while when we found out...

We already have an 8 seater, a Toyota Townace, so we are fine for a car luckily, although the older two are going to have to learn to climb over the seats into the back and do their own seatbelts up... We're also same as you as still have the baby things, although I did get rid of a few of the non essentials (and for some silly reason the bassinet, so now trying to work out whether to just put the baby in the cot, possibly with side off next to bed).

Yes, I'm sure we'll manage after the initial shock I like your positive thinking Grin I suppose I can't imagine not having 3 now, so having 4 will soon feel like that too...

Does anyone have any experience of bump measuring smaller the second time measured than the first time?

I saw my midwife earlier and the bump was measuring 31cm which is inline with the weeks. However, 3 weeks ago, I measured 32cm. I am going for a growth scan tomorrow morning, and the midwife didn't seem overly concerned, and said she was only sending me for the scan to be on the safe side, but I am a little worried (and too scared to google!).

I am trying to focus on the fact that the 1st measurement was done by a student midwife, and not checked by my usual MW, that the baby is measuring perfect at the moment and the heartbeat was perfect. But still not sure I will get much sleep tonight.

topmammy · 02/07/2014 20:13

Thanks for the mothercare mattress info ella just checked mine and its not one of those luckily, phew!

Cumbrian I wouldn't worry too much as different mw' s will measure slightly differently I'm sure, especially a student.

Think I might have acid reflux or something. Woke up last night with a bit of a painful stomach, except not painful as in needing the loo, just really uncomfortable and felt like the pain was going up my chest to my throat Confused worse when lying down so slept half sat up. Does that sound like acid reflux? Is that something Gavsicon is for? And is it safe in pregnancy? Never had this problem before in my life so I'm a bit clueless tbh!

whiteblossom · 02/07/2014 20:16

Cumbrian I was measured nearly three weeks bigger- by student mw then three weeks later I was measured by normal mw and told I was bang on for my dates....go figure!!

The measurements are crude to start with, add in babys position, human error etc there is a lot of room....well for different measurments. This was also said by my midwife.

I really wouldn't worry, view the scan as an extra chance to see baby and it will put your mind at rest. One thing I would say is that from reading the threads on here even the scans arn't that accurate. I think its general guide but not to be held to- does that make sense?

let us know how you get on x

whiteblossom · 02/07/2014 20:19

oh and my friend measured 3 weeks smaller throughout her pg and her sister 3 weeks bigger. both were fine.

top gaviscon is fine, my dh had to get me something for acid reflux. peppermint is best to settle stomach. hth x

Teabiscuits · 02/07/2014 20:37

I know I have said this before on this thread so apologises for this, but cumbrian I measured 32 cm at 38 weeks in last pregnancy, and DS was 6lb 5 so pretty small, but not abnormally so. Try not to worry, just think you get to see baby again Smile .

top that sounds like acid reflux/heartburn to me. Gaviscon is fine - I personally can't stand it, so take Rennie which is also fine (although less effective apparently). Mine is aggravated by fatty and spicy foods (annoying for me as I love a curry!)

donteven maybe we are long lost relatives!

CumbrianExile · 02/07/2014 20:57

Thanks for the reassurances ladies. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with the odd measurements. Trying to think positive. And definitely looking at it as an opportunity to see baby again. I will check on tomorrow and let you all know.

cookielove · 02/07/2014 21:57

top that sounds just like my heartburn, whichh i get ever so often, got it a couple nights ago and slept half sitting up until I relented and took some god awful yummy peppermint gaviscon. Mine feels very uncomfortable heading towards pain but no burn.

So is any one else snoring, dh is really struggling to sleep in the same room as me as it is so bad? God I'm gonna be the only one Blush

Also I cannot bend anymore, the floor is to far away and it hurts to bend!

cumbrian I am sure it will all be fine, have fun seeing your baby tomorrow!

topmammy · 02/07/2014 22:41

It really is the most unpleasant feeling without actually being proper pain, just weird! The lady I asked about gaviscon at Tesco pharmacy said I need to check with my doctor first if I can have it. Will probably just ask MW at my next appt though.

My baby has this evening discovered how to stretch I think and poke me simultaneously in both sides of my tummy. It's a bit ouchy but makes me laugh at the same time!

cookie you're not alone, my DH has mentioned a few times that I've been snoring. But even worse imo I have been drooling in my sleep on my pillow Blush think it's from being super tired as I don't usually! Blush

Thanks again ladies, just back from the scan (they managed to fit me in first, which was lucky, could have been waiting a long time!) and everything is ok. Baby is measuring perfect for the number of weeks, fluid and heartbeat are both fine. And I feel soo much better!

I think this baby just like causing me to worry - a sign of things to come Grin

Fairypants · 03/07/2014 09:25

Yay! I'm really happy to hear that Cumbrian Smile

CumbrianExile · 03/07/2014 09:40

Thanks Fairy. Baby is letting me know how much it doesn't appreciate being poked early in the morning by kicking me haha Smile

RedToothBrush · 03/07/2014 10:47

Thanks everyone. Feeling much better today. Midwife yesterday was good. Everything is fine. Unphased by blood test results, and agreed it was likely to be because I was a tool and missed a couple of iron tablets too. She actually read my notes too! She even had the other local midwife there to introduce herself as she is about to go on maternity leave. And after two days of mad spinning around baby even decided to settle into a 'normal position' about 10am yesterday much to my amazement (and discomfort - it was more comfortable when it was sideways). Little show off.

Typically though its still misbehaving around us; it wriggles constantly, unless DH is trying to feel it!

Cookie, I'm with you on the snoring. I was in denial, unless last week when I was asleep, and then woke up gradually realising I was doing it. Not good. 2 and a half hours without waking is good going now.
