Nazly you can change the length of your mat leave at any time as long as you give your employer 8 weeks notice. Google maternity leave and the gov.uk site tells you what you're entitled to and can and can't do.

bugoven · 19/06/2014 23:08

Hi all =)
Things that are going well: Was measured yesterday and baby is on 90th centile and approximately 3lb.
My energy levels have been good for a few weeks since taking Spatone.
Baby is so active and feels stronger and bigger everyday.

Things that could be going better: Seem to have third trimester sickness and my keeping still strategy from the first trimester is useless as baby has other ideas so my tummy feels like I'm on a roller coaster. Had to come home from work after being sick in a bush outside the classroom and all over my arm and hands. Really very glamorous and dignified =/

ilovemonstersInc · 20/06/2014 08:33

Topmammy most likely thing thats happened is baby has been active while you was busy. How do you feel today? Sometimes baby can change position and kick inside rather than out? Im sure thats what happens here lol

topmammy I had a really quiet week or so when I was feeling rough with a cold and very busy at work. I sat and drank loads of very cold water and baby seemed to turn. That was a week ago and he hasn't stopped moving since. Give your midwife a call if you're worried, mine was lovely and very reassuring. She said they would scan/ check me over if I hadn't felt anything within an hour X

DearDinah · 20/06/2014 09:45

bugoven sorry to hear you are sick, that's sucks! Is there anything in particular making you sick or is it like morning sickness again?
Is anyone else concerned about weight gain, at 29 weeks I've gained 13.8kgs & the 'average' for the whole pregnancy seems to be 12kgs, according to baby centre anyway. I really should stop googling!

CoolCat2014 · 20/06/2014 10:32

Bugoven - I'm still getting morning sickness a couple times a week, thankfully only first thing in the morning now, usually right before I leave the house to go to work. Not glamorous and I've had to re-shower before :(

How is everyone coping with the heat? I booked a nice relaxing day off today... Only to have one of the neighbours decide to cut paving stoned in half with a chainsaw.... At least that's what it sounds like!

Cindy5389 · 20/06/2014 10:44

Just booked all my remaining holiday until I leave work - so now this week was my last week working full time! Grin

Hope everyone is ok.

cool and dinah I had a few weeks free from sickness but started feeling sick again a few days ago. The heat makes me feel sick, foods are starting to make me feel sick again too. It does feel like general nausea like before.

cindy that's amazing! I have 4 1/2 weeks to go til end of term (23 working days!) then I know the last weeks of pregnancy will fly by! Eeek! So exciting.

Apologies for earlier repeated post. No idea what happened.

Teabiscuits · 20/06/2014 12:13

Hello everyone, hope we are all ok today. I think it's normal to feel a bit sick again. I do sometimes, it probably doesn't help that our tummies are getting squashed up now by enormous uteruses! Still sucks though.

I only work part time now due to having 3 dcs already, so I only do 3 days a week. 3 weeks left means 9 shifts! Grin and my maternity leave won't start until the week I'm due because I've got 7 weeks holiday to use up before (i get extra for long service and working bank holidays) I worked up until much later with the other 3, so I'm looking forward to some time off before. Mind you ill probably be bored after 3 weeks.

DS is being a little toerag bit difficult recently. He's so strong willed for a 1yr old. I hope he chills out before baby arrives.

Cindy5389 · 20/06/2014 13:28

Bugoven - By my last message I meant I will now be working part time until I leave work which is still ages away :( not until 2nd Sept.

All u teachers r very lucky to have the holidays off, meaning u can have plenty of time off before baby is due without eating into mat leave.

Nazly · 20/06/2014 19:36

Deardinah I am exactly the same, same weeks, same weight gain; but I now stopped worrying about it; as my gp said what's done is done I should focus on future; I tried to cut on junk and suger although I have occasional chocolates without them life doesn't go on!!!

KitKat1985 · 20/06/2014 19:41

I've gained 22 pounds so far (am 27 weeks). Sorry don't know what that is in Kg. I'm a bit above average weight gain though. Blush Probably all the cake I've been eating... x

AlwaysandForever09 · 20/06/2014 19:51

Hi everyone, had MW apt this week, baby is measuring 3 weeks ahead though so little concerned :/ got to go back in 3 weeks to see what it is then, if not have to have a blood test to check for diabetes. I do feel massive this time around! and so many people keep saying how big I am, really don't want another big baby! Or potentially bigger baby than DS! :(

Mad that we are all heading into the 3rd trimester though! How's everyone doing? Have anything nice planned for the weekend? It's mine and DH first redding anniversary, so staying in hotel for the night tomorrow, really looking forward to it!

bugoven · 20/06/2014 20:05

cindy that is very different to finishing work altogether. Boo! You're right, the timing for me couldn't be better. I officially start my maternity leave 4 days before my due date but actually will be off work from 34 weeks.

I have gained about 21lb. kitkat 22lb is 10kg (2.2lb = 1kg)

always I am told I am huge for my stahe of pregnancy and definitely showing much more than a friend who is 2 days ahead of me. Hope all is ok for you, I was told as long as I follow the expected curve I'll be fine.

Baby sale tomorrow morning and BBQ with friends including my bump buddy tomorrow afternoon =)

topmammy · 20/06/2014 21:06

Thanks bug and ilove. Baby started kicking quite a lot late last night so I felt so relieved! Hate that worried feeling! I think I must've just been too busy yesterday to notice movements as I have noticed them today.

I got some wall stickers and a couple a baby books from kiddicare in their sale and they arrived today Grin so exciting! Got these wall stickers and this is one of the baby books I got which I really like especially as it was half price baby book

Redtooth Just out of curiosity, how did you get into a fight with your hoover? lol :)

I'm contemplating going to this country fair near me on Sunday. It's basically in a massive field with lots of things to see and do, but obviously quite a bit of walking about and I assume/hope some portaloos! Hmmm... would you brave it at nearly 31w pregnant?

Topsyloulou · 20/06/2014 21:39

Evening ladies. Home from our last holiday as a couple! Despite the bumpy start with the cancelled flight we had a fab time. Only downside was that I couldn't do as much as I thought I would be able to & certainly no where near what I would have done pre pregnancy. Got a bit frustrated & teary one day but DP was fab & went & did all the things I couldn't & took some amazing photos for me so I didn't miss out completely. Combination of the heat & breathlessness meant there were lots of stops for coffee & ice cream so used the time wisely!

Based on my experience this week top I'd still go to the fair but go easy on yourself & rest as much as you need to. I didn't like giving in & admitting defeat but it was so much easier once I had & was resting when I needed to rather than pushing myself.

Sorry to hear everyone has been suffering. Hopefully everyone will be feeling better soon

RedToothBrush · 21/06/2014 00:26

Its just the heaviest, most difficult vacuum to use ever. PIL bought it for us years without asking what we would actually like/would be practical for someone no where near as big as them.

I fight with it at the best of times but pushing it around the other day just set my back off and I had to stop because of the pain, which has frustrated me no end. Its really made me realise how much I need to be careful. I can't believe how long I've still got to go yet. Its a bloody vacuum and I can't manage it already.

I think its the simple things like that, which are getting to me most.

dontevenblink · 21/06/2014 00:27

always happy anniversary! Its my 11th wedding anniversary today (its the 21st here already), but haven't got anything planned. DH has taken ds1 to football this morning, but its too cold to do a lot today - our wedding anniversary used to be on the longest day of the year and now it is on the shortest!! DH said he was debating what to get me for our anniversary and thought he'd ask the people in his office for inspiration. Thank goodness he did, as he said as I'd mentioned we need a new frying pan he thought I was dropping hints and that he was going to get me one of those - I told him yes, you could have if you wanted hitting round the head with it Grin. Apparently that's what the people in his office said too! Luckily his office suggested jewellery might be a better option and he got me a necklace in jade/greenstone which is a NZ Maori symbol for eternal love, so he did very well in the end Grin

I've been feeling a lot happier this week, despite feeling ill, so hopefully some of the hormonal part has passed. However, DD has homework this week to interview a grandparent about memories from their past, so I emailed my mum the questions to answer. One of them was to describe 'a memory as precious as gold' and my mum said it was when she held me for the first time (I'm the eldest) and I just burst into tears and sat here blubbing like a baby...! Luckily DH is out with the eldest two dc so didn't witness the event...

Topsy glad you had a good holiday. topmammy I'd still go out for the day, but make sure you just rest when you need it - see it as an excellent excuse to stop and sample all the food you want Grin. Also, when I was teaching I was always so busy that I never felt the baby move unless I sat down for a bit (so pretty much never!), it was always at night instead. Its been a bit strange with this one as with the anterior placenta I've only just started feeling lots of movements (am 28 weeks).

Hope you all have a great weekend :)

CumbrianExile · 21/06/2014 09:14

Topsy glad you had a lovely holiday

Baby is moving around so much more now. Last night I went to the cinema and spent more time watching my belly move. It is a very surreal experience!

Teabiscuits · 21/06/2014 11:41

topsy glad you had a nice time :)

topmammy we are going to Cornwall for 2 weeks with 3 kids when I'm 34 weeks - so I'm facing the same dilemma of being on my feet all day, as we will be doing lots of days out! As long as you take it easy and stop for drinks and so on you might be surprised at how well you cope :) Toilets are a must though from past experience.

Also just out of interest, do you mind me asking if the children in your class know you are pregnant? I'm purely being nosy, as there is a teacher at my DDs school who is clearly pregnant (she's normally tiny, is definately showing and had to stay in class and do paperwork instead of going to the farm with the children last week). But no one officially knows... Of course it's her personal choice when to make it public, and I'm sure she has good reasons for it - she is a long term member of staff and is deputy head, but in my experience even reception kids are too clever not to notice! My daughters certainly both suspect something! Did you keep it secret, or do your class know?

I'm purely asking out of nosiness and it's really none of my business so I won't get offended if you would prefer not to answer, it's just curiosity has got the better of me!

bugoven · 21/06/2014 14:46

I told the kids in my year group when I couldn't go along to an activity week with them in May so about 20 weeks. Since then I have had lots of children from the rest of the school ask and I have answered honestly. Think most of the school know now.

topmammy · 21/06/2014 16:01

Haha tea well there is certainly no hiding my pregnancy now even if I wanted to. My pregnancy was announced in the school newsletter when I was about 13 weeks, after I'd had my scan. The kids in my class have been super cute about it all with their name suggestions and things lol. I wanted everyone to know early on as I didn't want the parents thinking I was just getting porky! Haha. I did have one parent who said that she had guessed already and thought I was about 6 months gone!! I laughed but was like Hmm!!

Well I've only gone and taken the plunge and bought a Mothercare Orb pram/pushchair!! I was thinking of getting one a while ago but was too long deciding and they went back up to full price. But saw today they had come back down to 300 so just went for it :) Quite a relief to have made that decision.

Does anyone else get numb sides in the bum/hip area when sleeping? I do and they still feel numb now and make my legs hurt. Oh the joys.

Happy anniversary dont! Thanks

Nazly · 21/06/2014 19:25

Aaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhhh !!! We wanted to order our pram of choice today, i.e. Uppa baby vista, went for final look in Kiddicare (also to buy some other stuff from their sale) and damn it, hubby had a close look at the junctions of the frames (admittedly it looks like a quick and dirty job) and said no way I am buying this for our baby!!! Aaaahhhhh, I can't believe I am back to the drawing board!!! (Architectural phrase for starting again)

I couldn't convince him that we chose this for practicalities, frankly, I never liked the look too much as I wrote something about practicality over look here before - but it is the most practical pushchair out there IMO - DH is too fussy about the look... :(

Teabiscuits · 21/06/2014 23:24

Thanks bug and top, my curiosity has been somewhat sated Smile, I imagine the teacher in question is just choosing her moment carefully!

Travel systems are certainly a big decision, top I have seen the orb, looks good! nazly that must be frustrating, we found we just had to comprimise to some extent on the pushchair mainly due to cost. As much as I might want an icandy, they are way out of our price range! It actually turns out a much cheaper obaby Zezu suits our needs better anyway as it converts to a really compact double.

Now we just need a bloody car to fit them all in. Finding a decent seven seater for less than £4000 is really hard! We thought we had it cracked the other day but the dealer was a bit too keen to sell, for cash only and offered no warranty. Um. No we'll leave it thanks! Starting to think our only option might be to get a loan so we can go for something better.
